The owner is warm and cares about being welcoming. We arrived to a very large basketful of healthy and delicious snacks and fruits, and fresh cut flowers. My mom who is 81 was happy and comfortable, our 11 year old children were thrilled with the beautiful salt water pool, we loved everything as did my brother and his family. The home could not be more perfectly situated as well as private. We can't wait for next summer. I've been vacationing in Amagansett since I was about 9 and I'm 51 now. We are also former home owners.

We stayed at this charming village historic house last summer for 1 month and my family and I had a wonderful time. We plan to come back this summer again!! The house is walking distance to the town and beach, train, jitney. I could get on the jitney in the city and be at the house in 3 hours and walk to the house which was 1 block away. The inside of the house was clean with brand new beds , and linens, everything was spotless and could not have been more perfect. The kitchen was even brand new when we moved in (no one has ever used it) We were the first. The owners of the house and her family could not be more gracious. From the welcome basket that included snacks for the kids and champagne for the grown ups, to the list of family friendly things to do in the area, Grace and Guy thought of everything. When we arrived they walked us through the details of the house, answered our questions and were readily available if a question came up about something as small as how to use the TV remote (even though they explained it the first time around!) They could not have been any nicer and made us feel at home in their home. The house had a lot of privacy given the distance in town and to the beach. It was also very big with 5 bedrooms and a big den for my kids to play in. It felt secluded and very homey. It was decorated in a beach vibe and with a traditional country feel. We cannot wait to come back this summer!

The location was amazing and the actual house was so cute and cozy and very clean. We arrived after being stuck in hamptons traffic for 4 hours to be greeted by the owners with a welcome basket , fruit and snacks and cold drinks... Our experience for the week could not have been any better. This is a historic house that has been renovated to have more modern feel. It was bigger than we expected/ almost too big for a family of 4 and had a lot of privacy and great for a family. It had 5 bedrooms and a playroom all having nice new hotel style linens, pillow and comforters. Almost everything in the house was new( new blankets/ beds/ pots / kitchen appliances etc). The house was quiet and felt like a very large, secluded yard with a pool that is probably double the size of most pools. We had a great time bbqing on the deck and hanging out by the pool as well as having our kids walk to the beach by themselves or walk to town to get ice cream. We would come back again!

When we first arrived we thought the house was great and would be a perfect weekend. Boy were we wrong! First, a group of 10 girls were out by the pool at 4PM on a Friday and the police arrived saying they received a noise complaint. He was surprised that there was no noise at all and did not write up a ticket. An hour later, the landlord arrived unannounced (illegal in New York) and told us the police notified her that there was a complaint. How that is even possible is unclear since police don't notify owners about noise complaints (especially with no ticket). We believe she called them herself to later get out of giving us our deposit back. That same day, one of us was in the kitchen, when her leg fell through an old floorboard and into the basement, the rusty nails scratching her up pretty badly. Not only is this extremely dangerous, but it is also on the landlord to tell us that the floor is rotting especially when it was evident this was an existing issue. We fixed the floorboard to make sure nobody fell through again and avoided having more than 3 people in the kitchen at a time. Now, she has been refusing to give us our deposit back, claiming that the city of East Hampton shut down her house because of the noise complaint, which the police never filed. This landlord is deceiving and a thief. After 5 months, we have STILL NOT RECEIVED our security deposit (other than the floorboard that we fixed, there was no damage to the house and we cleaned although we had paid a cleaning fee) and she neglects to respond even to our lawyer's correspondence. I would not recommend anyone rent out this house unless you want to deal with the fallout of a terrible landlord for months after and be checked on during your stay.
