Waterski on it's low traffic, glass like waters or peacefully explore it's beautiful coves with our canoe or kayak. Solid stairways down to the dock. The view off both back decks is beautiful. Plenty of seating on the deck to enjoy view of the lake and the abundant wildlife it offers. Bring your fishing pole! Although this cabin is located at over 3000' elevation, it is very easy access from Andrews/Murphy, NC, with minimal winding roads to get to this secluded mountain lake paradise. Andrews, NC is less than 20 minutes away where you can find a large grocery store and other stores and shops.
This is not a place to work remotely using wi-fi - the internet can be spotty. We even recommend that before you come, download your music on your phones so you can enjoy down at the dock or decks. Download movies on your tablets in advance in case you are unable to stream with wi-fi. Not a good place for anyone who can't live without internet for their stay. We are in the middle of a National Forest, on a beautiful lake - enjoy it!
This property is located on a mountainside with steep access to the lake. The stairs (approx. 200) make for easy and safe access but this is not a property well suited for small children or the elderly if they want to access the private dock.
Anyone will enjoy the views from the cabin, the peaceful sound of nature, the likely buzz of hummingbirds and beautiful star filled night skies.
No Smoking, No Pets, No Exceptions.

Lake Nantahala is a wonderful sharing of all her glory. The views of the lake are spectacular as the birds share the songs of joy. As mentioned in many reviews the 202 steps to the floating dock are a bit daunting but most likely helped us burn off some of those unnecessary calories. The wifi was fine for our email and brief web surfing needs and even worked well with streaming on the TV. The access road to the property is good enough for access to the cabin by car. The home is inside a gated community so security is very good. Clothing storage is a bit limited with one closet with a few hangers and no hanging storage in the guest bedroom for longer stays. As it was only the 2 of us and we were at the property for 22 nights we used the spare bedroom bed to lay out our clothes. The kayak, paddle boards, and canoe are wonderful to use for exploring around the lake and it’s coves. The gas fire pit on the lower deck is a nice addition for those cooler nights. There are some nice covered deck areas on the lower decks for those damp days. The gas grill on the upper deck is in excellent condition and works very well. John & Cynthia have provided a wonderful home home to enjoy the wonderful views that Lake Nantahala provides. If you are a smaller group that is looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city this is a wonderful escape. Thanks to the host for their wonderful communication. We hope to in the near future take advantage of the great property again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely property. The view is stunning and watching the humming birds buzz around the deck was so much fun. While our trips up and down the stairs were a challenge for my husband and myself, our adult son had no problem. We even made a game of it to see how far we could go without stopping! The kitchen was easy to use, and the beds were very comfortable. I would highly recommend this cabin for a recharge of the batteries!

Everything clean orderly. Not for the elderly or small children
.Two hundred narrow steps down to lake with low railing. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay.

Perfect cabin/home in a perfect spot on a beautiful lake. Only 3 nights, but we ached to stay longer. Simply a wonderful stay in a wonderful place; we never got in our vehicle. Yes, the steps were many to the dock, but we actually enjoyed the challenge. The home lacked nothing at all. We WILL be back. Thanks SO much...

Great lakeside retreat
This cabin is perfect - beautiful, well-kept, and clean. We enjoyed our week-long stay with our two young children. The main deck overlooking the lake was a favorite hangout. It was fantastic to be able to use the canoe and kayak. We rented a pontoon for two days and kept it overnight at the dock without issue. Highly recommend! Thanks for sharing your cabin with us!

Perfect Getaway
Everything was perfect. The location is a gorgeous fifty feet above the lake giving a perspective to the dock and distant shore. We loved the long climb of stairs! The cabin is pristine and well-appointed. Thank you for arranging the swarm of fireflies at twilight. That was a nice touch for a magical week!

beautiful & quiet
This home was extremely clean and perfectly located on the lake. Easy to get to. Beautiful views from the upper deck and the dock. We didn't find the stairs to be an issue. The kitchen had everything we needed. The house was easy to get to. We enjoyed the canoe and kayak. This lake is one of the quietest places we've ever vacationed - it was absolutely wonderful.

Tranquility
If peace and relaxation is what you seek while having easy access to the lake and great hikes in the area, this cabin is for you. The cabin is well-appointed and has a beautiful view of Nantahala Lake. The owners were great to work with. Yes the stairs to the firepit and dock can be a bit of a challenge but totally worth it!

Relaxing week in the mountains.
With COViD-19, my husband and I were just looking for a safe place to relax and get away from all the madness at work. This property was perfect. We didn’t do much, but we did take a drive on the “tail of the dragon” nearby and took a few hikes. Mostly we were just homebodies where we enjoyed the spectacular view and enjoyed each other’s company.

Peaceful Treetop Retreat
Immaculately clean, serene, comfortably furnished. The two hundred steps down to the lake were a bit of a challenge, but we used them for our daily exercise. Gorgeous lake. Wonderfully quiet location.

A perfect place to have the best family time!
My family of six had the most wonderful time at this lake house. Just enough space for two adults and four youngsters (ages 5-12), we thoroughly enjoyed the lake, the canoe and kayak, the dock, the fire pit, the deck and all the great outdoor spaces. The view of the lake at sunset was spectacular! And I think the fresh air and morning view from the deck made my morning coffee even better. A little time spent in those rocking chairs starts the day out just right! The place is immaculately clean and our kids loved the board games and movies provided. Communication with the owners was easy and prompt. We truly hope to stay here again-while it is away from the hustle and bustle, it is easy to get to Bryson City, Cherokee, the Nantahala Outdoor Center and the Great Smoky Mountains. I have already recommended this home to friends and family and will continue to do so! And bonus—walking up and down all those stairs are a great way to burn off all the s’mores you can enjoy at the fire pit!

Too many stairs
There was no service there . There is 200 steps to get to the deck I’m 62 and my husband is 60 disability due to arthritis so we was only able to go down stair only once very quite loved the view and the hummingbird eating all day the bed was very very comfortable. The roads is very narrow and very scary. Lay out of the place is very nice but the bathroom is very small. I would hope that you are very fit to go up and down the stairs very steep. All in all we had a good time my son also rented a house and he was able to pick us up at the boat dock

Gorgeous setting, lovely lake cabin
We enjoyed our visit to this lakeside cabin. The location was peaceful and just the right combination of remote and accessible. The lake was pretty busy since we were there across the eclipse (and had a fantastic view of the totality from the back deck - no need to brave crowds for a perfect view), but it settled down during the week, allowing for dockside fishing and so forth. We had most of our meals on the back deck and made good use of the grill provided and were fortunate enough to be able to get a couple of bell peppers and a handful of cherry tomatoes from the small garden.
There was a steady stream of vistation by hummingbirds to the feeders, and hubby and daughter saw a long-tailed weasel on the drive up to the cabin (they'd gone to town without me), so that was really neat.
I wish we'd known beforehand the extent of the steps to get to/from the dock, and the external access for the laundry room was also a surprise (we ought to have brought a laundry basket), but otherwise, the cabin was great.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful lakeside getaway with us.

The perfect get away
The cabin seemed newly renovated. Clean all the way through. Plenty of windows to open to feel the nice cool air. The bed was confortable. Plenty of room. A few too many stairs to the lake for my liking but tolerable. We had access to a nice kayak and a canoe which was nice. The most beautiful and clean lake I have ever seen. It was lovely to sit on the dock in the evening and enjoy to uncrowded lake. A vacation we will never forget.

Great little lakefront cabin
We spent four nights here and had a wonderful time. Oddly enough, a lot of that was down to the fact that John and Cyndy have the TV hidden away inside a cabinet. Our kids (ages 6 and 9) couldn't find it when we first arrived, and forgot about it completely after a few minutes. So they spent the rest of the vacation enjoying family time and the great outdoors, and playing nicely with each other instead of fighting over the remote control. It was wonderful. The cabin was the perfect size for a family of four with two small kids. Very nicely appointed and super clean in and out. Lake access is a little tricky with a long stairway down to the dock, but the exercise was good and being a little higher up on the hillside made the view from the cabin even more spectacular.

Wonder place for family vacation. Highly recommended.
Made the trip to the cabin for family NYE vacation and it was exactly what we were hoping for. There were three of us, including a 5 year old, and we were entertained the entire time. Beautiful, peaceful cabin with amazing view of both mountains and Lake Nantahala. Had all the amenities and extras we needed for our stay, including a large deck overlooking lake, fireplace, and outdoor grill. We spent some time exploring the area while there, but had the most fun relaxing in the cabin and always looked forward to getting back there. Appreciated the extra amenities of WIFI and firewood on site.
Owners were especially great to work with, very responsive and accommodating to all our questions.
Our only regret was that we could not stay longer. We are hoping to return to during the summer to experience some water activities.
Overall, we highly recommend this the cabin and it will definitely be our first choice when returning to the area.
