About this apartment rental
Check our reviews from 19 years of hosting guests. Stay in luxurious accommodations in this tastefully renovated loft right in the heart of downtown Asheville - your home away from home. Everything you could need for your vacation is here: a fully equipped modern kitchen, dining area, comfortable plush queen bed in one bedroom, queen-size sleeper sofa in living room with memory foam mattress, twin bed in second very small room, washer and dryer, 1 40" smart TV in bedroom, 1 48" flat panel TV in living room, Satellite, DVD player, iPhone dock/stereo, central air conditioning, and a large window seat for great people-watching below. See our video on our website for more info: www.ashevilleurbannest.com
This condo was renovated in 2019 and is on the third floor of an historic building that is in the center of downtown. Walk to all of the unique locally owned shops, art galleries, delicious restaurants, theaters, the Fine Art cinema, Pack Place and the Orange Peel for a concert. Most of Asheville's festivals start at Pack Place, and that's just one block away. Park your car in the deck across the street and leave it there! Watch the Christmas Parade go by from the window and take the elevator to the first floor for a first-class dining experience at the Lobster Trap, where they fly in Maine lobsters daily. If you don't feel like venturing out, order up some dinner or appetizers from the Lobster Trap. If you are interested in experiencing what downtown Asheville is all about, you will not find a better location. We have a spa right next door if you need a massage on your way home.
This oasis in the middle of downtown is perfect for those who want a comfortable place to relax in, and to use as a home away from home, as a base for their downtown Asheville explorations. Mature adults only--not a place for college students to come and party. Many guests report how quiet the building is, but there are times that you may hear the noises of city life outside as we are surrounded by restaurants, music venues and shops in the heart of downtown. They don't roll up the sidewalks at 8pm.
The kitchen is fully equipped to cook wonderful meals from local ingredients you pick up at the local tailgate markets downtown on Saturdays and Wednesdays, though with so many wonderful restaurants nearby, you may opt out of cooking altogether. Asheville was chosen by Fodor's as the #1 travel destination in the world! Asheville has become known for it's many locally brewed beers, creative restaurants that use locally grown ingredients, and of course for their arts and crafts communities. The Downtown Urban Nest is within easy walking distance to wine stores, an artisan cheese store, bakeries, every type of restaurant, movie theater and music venues.
If you like the outdoors, you will find endless opportunities within an hour of downtown - hiking, mountain biking, running, ziplining, rock climbing, snow skiing, etc. See our website to hear about our favorites picnic spots and hikes nearby. Find out why so many people are moving here! If you are one of those, we proudly recommend two realtors to drive you around to see what you like.
Parking options for your car, if you bring one, are in the public lots across from the condo (the Rankin Deck and the Civic Center lot), and there are meters on both sides of the building. Parking in the decks is pretty inexpensive for the heart of a very popular city ($20/24 hours). Meters are free after 6pm and all day on Sundays and holidays. If you are going to be arriving on a Friday or Saturday night, know that events may be happening that take up much of the parking in the decks. If you are staying in the busy months (summer and October), know that parking can be a pain and best to park your car and walk or Uber, and just try to avoid arriving dinner time on weekends, when it's most crowded.
Drovers Way and The Nest On Broadway, our two other short term rental properties, are just down the street from the Urban Nest. Ask us about it if the Nest is booked.
The address of the Urban Nest is 51 College St. between Lexington and Haywood St.

The Urban Nest is a cozy, well-equipped condo in the heart of downtown Asheville, walking distance to shops, restaurants, and breweries. Clean, comfortable, with great amenities. Perfect for exploring the city!

Couldn’t ask for a better location! Parking in the garage across the street was easy and it was so nice being able to walk everywhere. While there is street noise, you can’t hear it from the bedrooms (especially if you use white noise sound machine which the hosts provided). The hosts truly thought of everything and we loved our stay!

Our stay was perfect. Communication, location and condo itself were great. Ideal for traveling with 3 or fewer people. Bedrooms were dark and quiet away from the street noise. Location is very convenient to walking and parking garage is across the street. Once parked, we walked everywhere. Plenty of fantastic restaurants very close by. Would definitely stay again.

Centrally located in downtown Asheville, Urban Nest made our stay very convenient for dining, shopping and walking around. We would definitely come again.

Great location downtown within walking distance of lots of shops, restaurants and cafes. Only bummer was the lack of free parking. There are some metered spots but they are typically full. Parking in the lots was $20 per day.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the condo. The location was perfect and was close to many restaurants, museums and breweries. Lynne and Steve were very communicative and made sure that everything was taken care of before we arrive. I highly recommend this condo!

Three friends and I stayed here for the Southern Conference Basketball Tournament. It was a wonderful apartment--well laid out, clean, pleasant, with many amenities (including a wonderful guide to the city). Highly, highly recommended. We'd stay again in a minute! Thanks to the marvelous hosts.

This was perhaps the best moderately-priced VRBO we've stayed in, ever. Great location, great apartment, well thought out design and preparation. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, better than average shower, great light, windows that open, etc. (perhaps only drawback, no cable tv service, so you'll need to use your own Netflix, Hulu, etc.) Regardlesss, You will not do better in Asheville!

We had a great time. The location cannot be beat! Hosts were very responsive and easy to work with. Toiletries and kitchen supplies were fantastic as was the tea/coffee. Such a great time and close to everything..shopping, restaurants, breweries. The only negative was the noise at night from the area restaurants. The bedrooms are set back from the road so its quieter in there than the main room but bring noise cancelling headphones or earplugs if you are a light sleeper and you will be all set. The location outweighs the noise in my opinion. Would absolutely stay again. Thanks for a great weekend getaway.

The condo is centrally located and within walking distance to many locations in Asheville. It was beautifully decorated, comfortable and clean. The owners provided detailed instructions for access.it was great to be able to do a load of laundry after a couplen of days of hiking. The parking garage across the street was easy. Overall, I would highly recommend this listing!

We had a wonderful stay. Great location, able to walk to many shops, restaurants and wine rooms. Also toured the Biltmore and did a ghost tour. Home had everything we needed, only suggestion would be to add a full length mirror somewhere in the house.

We have visited Asheville numerous times. Urban Nest is one of our favorite places to stay because of how centrally located it is to everything we love to do. Shopping and dining all so close and convenient. We enjoyed the Asheville Comedy Festival and will book Urban Nest in the future!

What a beautiful place in a perfect location. This apartment features everything you could possibly need. Our host was extremely accommodating and easy to get in touch with. I would highly recommend staying in this great place!
My only recommendation would be to consider bringing ear plugs of the weekend evenings for the live music played until 2am in a bar downstairs. 😉

The downtown Asheville loft is nicely appointed and comfortable. Easy walking distance to anything in the downtown area. We enjoyed our stay. If only walking like us the French Broad Food Co-Op has the essentials needed. For a good resource for local music events check out livemusicasheville.com. Also, for a great source of local music stream the buzzradioasheville.com.

Very nice unit in the center of town. Walking distance to so many places. Consider this before picking one of the (often more expensive) hotels recently built downtown!

If we return to Asheville, would definitely stay here again. The space was comfortable for us parents and our two adult children. The bed was tremendously comfortable and the shower was great after a day of hiking. Very nice to have coffee products available so we didn't have to look for a store when we arrived in Asheville. All the comforts of home for this family!

Amazing location, great communication. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper for Thurs/ Fri/sat nights because of the surrounding nightlife.

Stayed for a weekend to visit Biltmore. Great location in DT. Parked in the Rankin deck and didn't move the car once. Took Ubers and walked everywhere.
It's a busy part of town so if you are sensitive to lots of noises - muscle cars, sirens, loud music - might not be the right spot.
Condo is very well appointed - very homey.

Perfect location and had all the amenities!
A little noisy from others in building and outside but not too bad.
Would definitely stay here again!

Our favorite city with our favorite flat. Thankful to return to Asheville and have the opportunity to stay at the urban nest again. A beautiful home away from home with all the amenities and an amazing location for food, shopping and live music. Thankful to enjoy this place for several years now.

I really enjoyed this loft. It had a big city, artsy vibe that I appreciated. It rained most days and it was so nice to be able to duck in after a short walk to dinner or shopping. The main bed was super comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at this comfortable, well equipped condo in the heart of downtown Asheville last month and it was exactly what we were looking for. It was a great location for walking everywhere and the nearby public parking garage was convenient and even had EV charging. We took advantage of the location and dined at some great restaurants and also hit the river arts district and the blue ridge parkway for hiking. We had our teen daughter with us for one night between her summer camp sessions and the small bedroom was perfect for her and we used the laundry for washing her camp stuff. Overall was a nice break to be in the comfy condo in the midst of a 10 day road trip with mostly hotel stays.
Check in was smooth with detailed instructions from the owner on how to access the secure building and get up to the apartment. One tip is to make sure you pay careful attention to the interior door lock instructions, as it took us a few tries to get the hang of using the keypad to also lock back the door as you were leaving.

Just Perfect
Thanks to our hosts Steve and Lynne! Your Vrbo property was perfect! A terrific location to everything within walking distance in downtown Asheville. Your condo is wonderfully kept and very clean. The parking garage is super close too. There were many nearby restaurants, the Brazilian Steakhouse was our favorite. We had great time playing the escape rooms at The Breakout. A really great feature in your condo was the dining table that was easily made larger to assemble a couple of jigsaw puzzles that we purchased from a couple terrific shops in the area. Thank you again, we will definitely return to Asheville.

Great Weekend Stay
Great place. In the middle of everything, so it was super convenient to stop off throughout the day. Lively neighborhood, but didn’t hear a peep in the bedroom while sleeping.

Great condo in a central location
Loved this place. Nicely decorated and comfortable in a great location. The street noise can be a little loud when bagpipers set up on the sidewalk below or monster trucks rumble through but the bedrooms are away from the street-front windows so that is not a problem.
The Lobster Trap is on the ground level and you can get takeout from the elevator on the first floor.
