It is the main attraction of this vacation destination. And on a day when you need a break from the sun and the waves, you can still enjoy a refreshing swim in a heated pool or pedal a bike along the miles of trails that meander through the neighboring towns, forests, farmlands and wine country.
With outdoor patios in the front garden, and back yard, you also have ample seating around the pool for sunbathing or having lunch. At meal time, you have many options to explore. In addition to grilling on the Weber, you will discover the areas many first rate restaurants, a famous burger joint, ice cream shops and cafes.

Overall we had a wonderful week at the cottages! Wonderful quiet neighborhood setting, fully equipped homes with all you could need in kitchen, etc and the beach is stunning and super close!
We had a minor issue with pool cleanliness when we arrived but the owner took care of it as soon as possible. Given the lake setting and amount of moisture, sand, etc the places are clean but our group felt some upholstered furniture needs updating. Both dishwashers gave off a bad smell when used and indicated need of deep cleaning or plumbing issues.
Again, lovely place to visit and we loved the beach access and space—we might be overly picky, just though some deep cleaning and updates would make it perfect!

Great location, nice place
We only stayed for 2 days for a quick getaway, but the place was great. We had 3 medium size dogs and there was ample amount of room for them. The walk to the beach was super convenient and the hot tub made the stay enjoyable. My only con was the back door had a ton of leaves surrounding the entrance which made it hard not to track in outdoor debris per the house rules.
Other than that I would definitely stay again in the future. Hopefully during the summer when the pool is open :)

Cozy and lovely winter weekend!
We really enjoyed our February stay here! The area is just gorgeous in winter time! Frank was easy to communicate with, and getting to and in the house was really easy — just make sure to follow his directions! The house is really clean and spacious. The kitchen was well-stocked, the shower had hot water for post snow activities, we loved the wood-burning fireplace (bring wood!), we slept really well and just were so thankful for the nice hot tub! It felt so good after long cold walks. The house manual is really helpful — make sure to check it out as it answers lots of questions! The beach is just right across the street and down some stairs. It is so nice to be able to just pop over. The waves were frozen, and it was just gorgeous! We loved walking to coffee or drinks in union pier — the location is just awesome! We hope to return to Frank’s place some time soon! A lovely stay!

Not steps away from the beach
The road leading to the house is essentially a dirt road filled with potholes. The beach is no "steps away" but 3/4 of a mile to the entrance. The hot tub had to be shared with the family in the other cottage which actually isn't another cottage but one house split in two. The hot tub water needs to be changed. The water was not good, which we didn't realize until we got in. Then the other family was annoyed at us for getting in the hot tub at 9pm, I believe their children were sleeping. We got out before 10pm but I can imagine making noise outside while their kids are sleeping is problematic. The house had some items were in disrepair, the front yard is weeds with a house being built across the street. The cost is excessive given the location. We could have stayed in a hotel on the lake for that amount. Given that the house wasn't in the greatest condition the list of rules and instructions was also excessive. I would not return to this property.

Enjoyed a nice weekend in cottage B with my husband and dog. The highlight for us was the hot tub- it was very relaxing during the winter time! The cottage is very close to the beach so this would be a great place to stay during the summer.

Wonderful home and close to the beach. It was much larger than we imagined. We stayed mostly on the first floor and really enjoyed the kitchen. It was a nice couple of nights and plan to return with our children in the summer. Thank you Frank!

Would not recommend
The house itself is a fine cottage getaway. It was good for a family weekend. Due to the amount of rules/regulations I felt it was hard to enjoy the weekend without thinking I was going to break a rule/get a charge. He accepts pets but they can’t go to the bathroom on the property, which I believe it’s a dirt road in the summer, so I’m not sure where they are to go. I was a little thrown off by the amount of times I had received email/texts from the owner. He wanted to know when we were arriving which check in was at 4 so I didn’t think it needed to be addressed when we would arrive. He also texted me twice during my stay to ask how things were going and also to remind me what to do when I check out. There is a ring camera pointing directly at the hot tub which I found unsettling. Overall my weekend with my family was great, I just wish I wouldn’t have been interrupted to make sure I was following the rules.

Wonderful Vacation
Our family decided to take a family vacation this year and this home offered everything we needed. The Home and Pool were clean and have plenty of room and everything that is needed. The private beach area is small but clean and the kids enjoyed the sand and water. It was wonderful waking up to beautiful deer in our front yard and a pool to sit by when the beach was crowded. I would highly recommend this home.

Girls Weekend
Cute, well-maintained house with plenty of room for the four of us. Kitchen was fully stocked with cookware, utensils, plates, cups, etc. Hot tub was perfect for a chilly night. Shower stayed hot (even with four of us preparing for the day) with good water pressure; ample towels and washcloths. The neighborhood was quiet and we could hear the waves from Lake Michigan while sitting on the front porch. We especially appreciated the detailed instructions with pictures. Frank answered questions promptly during the booking process and touched base again immediately prior to check-in with updates. Cell reception (Verizon) for phone calls was fair at best but we expected that based on the listing information. No problem with sending/receiving texts. We had a great weekend!

Everything was pretty much as expected, except that a day or two before we left we were told most cell service didn’t work except maybe in the front yard...didn’t work there either. We’re told AT&T did work. It didn’t. Two land line phones in the beach houses didn’t work either. We had to rely on texting which had a delay. Since I was trying to keep an eye on my elderly parents and terminally ill brother-in-law, this was horrible. Then I received a text that our home alarm was going off. I can’t even explain how difficult this was trying to deal with by text. All good aspects of the trip were overshadowed.

Both cottages were well kept and comfortable. Enjoyed time at the pool which was heated and comfortable. Had a minor issue with the pool ladder, but taken care of in a timely manner. Family members all had a great time. Close location to lake michigan was a great plus. Kids loved it.

Great Cottage Getaway
We rented both cottages for a couples retreat and had a great time. The fireplaces and hot tub were relaxing amenities we enjoyed very much. We had 7 couples on the trip and every couple was able to have their own room. Frank was very accommodating and we had no issues with either cottage.

Memorable week of sun and fun with our family
Comfortable cottage with close proximity to beach. Rented both sides to house our family of 18 adults and 2 infants. Well-equipped kitchen(s). Nice Weber kettle grills on back patio. Loved using the good-sized above ground pool with large deck in late afternoons and early evening following early afternoons at the beach. Went back to beach several evenings after dinner to catch the beautiful sunsets that occur at 9:20-9:25pm in this area in early July. Nice bicycles in the shed were used several times. Great, quiet neighborhood for walking, running and biking. Good proximity to markets, shops and restaurants in surrounding communities, especially New Buffalo. Nearby wineries and microbreweries were visited. Travel from St Louis metro area took us 5-5.5 hours; short enough for those who couldn’t join us for the entire week to still make the trip worthwhile. Would rent the place again without hesitation were it not for the fact that we will outgrow Frank’s 20 person limit (although there would be sufficient space for the 19 adults, 2 toddlers under 18 months and two 4-5 month olds we will have next summer!).

Great time
Everyone had a great time, especially the kids in the pool playing 3 on 3 basketball. The beach is very close and nice. Most everyone would go down the beach during the day and at night build a fire in the fire pit. While the location is close to New Buffalo it's only a half hour drive on the I94 to St Joseph for more restaurants and shopping. The St Joseph beach is a great place for the guys to hang out while the women go shopping. Also, there's a great fresh produce marketplace relatively close in Sawyer, Mi. The only think you have to watch out for is the street sign to the property is hard to spot due to the dense underbrush of the area. You need to slow down as you're approaching it as you'll blow right by.

Our families had a great time here. The cottages were neat and clean upon arrival and everyone really enjoyed the pool. Of course nearby Lake Michigan, a very short stroll, added to our enjoyment as did the proximity to wineries, taprooms, casinos, interesting eateries and much more.
