Our two-story cottage has gorgeous views of a sapphire ocean with dancing waves. Simply sit back and relax on the private covered lanai and enjoy the view!

The 500 sq.feet Central Air Conditioned apartment is upstairs (downstairs is the open garage), surrounded by a lovely Hawaiian tropical garden with bamboos, palm trees, gingers, heliconias and fruit trees. The inside is cozy and elegant. A separate bedroom with a queen-sized bed, full bath, and full kitchen complement the layout.
The ocean is your front yard.
The property is ocean front, our home is on the ocean side and the cottage is on the road side. Of course our guests have access to the chairs and table located at the edge of the ocean. No beach access from the property as there are some big rocks sitting in front. But a beach is walking distance from here. Tavares Beach.
Walk out into the front yard (along the owners' house), and watch surfers enjoying the beautiful blue waves! Maui by the Sea's property is located right on the ocean, fronting a popular local surf break. The entertainment never stops!
Your cottage is 150 feet from the ocean. (Access to the water is possible but there is no beach in front of the property; it is a rocky shoreline). A sandy beach is 200 yards from the cottage with access for windsurfing, surfing and snorkeling; or if you wish, just sunbathing on the golden sand.
A short drive down the coast takes you to Baldwin Beach, the nicest beach on Maui's North Shore with long long stretches of white sand, crystal clear water, lifeguards, pavilions, and showers.

I found the place even better than photos! Road noise was no issue. We really enjoyed the deck off the unit and its amazing views of the ocean. Valerie was a great host.

All we can say is “Wow”. The cottage is so cosy and has anything and everything you could possibly need for a fantastic vacation! The bedroom looked out onto the ocean and the bed was super comfortable. The bathroom was well stocked and clean. The living room had a plush comfy couch and large tv which was nice to cozy up on in the evenings after a long day in the sun. The kitchen had every piece of equipment you could ever need including a juicer with an endless supply of oranges on the trees outside. Bbqing and eating on the lanai overlooking the ocean was incredible. It was perhaps the most relaxing vacation my husband and I have ever had! If we could more than 5 stars we would. Oh and Valerie the owner was so nice and her communication couldn’t have been better. We had zero issues with check in, our stay or check out. Highly recommend…. Just don’t book the dates we want to come back😁

We loved our stay here! Perfect location I’m Maui to do so many of the things we wanted! Valarie & Craig live on the property too which we didn’t know but wasn’t a problem at all! They were so nice & let us eat all the oranges off their trees that we wanted :)

This property exceeds every expectation. My partner and I were utterly spoiled staying here. Valerie Craig made us feel at home with this amazing accommodation, which served as our private nirvana during our stay on Maui. The property's fruits were delicious, and the ocean view made us want to stay for the duration of our trip. We had many lovely BBQ meals on the balcony. We truly felt like we hit the jackpot by staying here.

Valerie and Craig (owners) have raised the “host” bar; they both truly embrace the meaning of “Aloha.” The property and cottage are very well maintained with all the comforts of home. Now, let’s talk view- Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! It was a relaxing week of fun, excellent food, conversation and at day’s end it was a joy to return to “Maui by the Sea.” Truly.

Valerie's cottage overlooks a beautiful topical oasis and full ocean view. The cottage was tastefully designed and just the right size for two. There were views from every window and a wonderful deck to enjoy our home made meals.
The location was perfect to easily get to town, beaches, wonderful restaurants, and all that the North Shore has to offer. Although, it was hard to venture out as I could have stayed the whole vacation right there at the cottage. Valerie and Craig were also very helpful and a joy to know. We are already looking at our calendar to plan a return trip.

Nirvana By The Sea
Maui By The Sea was a perfect island getaway. The cottage and property were both charming, the cottage was clean and a wonderful private space, the yard and gardens were quite peaceful, and having the chairs for guests right at the water's edge, was a wonderful touch. We looked forward to watching the sunset every night! Valerie and Craig were excellent hosts, very welcoming and helpful. They made our stay even more enjoyable. The property was convenient for everything we wanted to do: beautiful beaches, sightseeing, and shopping. We would highly recommend this property, especially for those wanting a private getaway from hotels and crowded condos.

Fantastic spot
We had a wonderful time during our stay. Valarie and Craig were amazing hosts. Check in and out were incredibly easy. The property had a view of the ocean and a beautiful area to hang out on a shared lawn overlooking the sea. We highly recommend this rental and will definitely try to stay the next time we visit Maui.

Cozy cottage
We found the cottage just as described in fun Pai'a. It is well appointed (everything you need in the kitchen) and very comfortable. Valerie has thought of everything to make a stay there great. Watching the surfers and turtles from the chaise lounges is a highlight, and the beach is just a few houses away with plenty more turtles. Loved picking oranges off the tree just outside our door for fresh squeezed juice each morning.

This apartment in the nice town of Pa'ia is the most beautiful place for a vacation on Maui and a perfect starting point for this island.
The size of the appartment is perfect for two people.
We had our own porch to sit outside overlooking the Pacific and additionally a beautiful place at the ocean shore to sit and relax watching whales, turtles and surfers.
The appartment is very spacious and well equipped with a wonderful kitchen and washer and dryer. We missed nothing during our stay.
The bedroom with a Queensize bed and acess to the porch has a view to the ocean too.
The communication with the hosts Valerie and Craig was great and everything at 'Maui by the Sea' was perfect.
This was the best appartment we have ever visited in more than 20 years renting vacation homes and apartments.
Thx to Valerie for always being so helpful with everything around our stay in Pa'ia.

Mesmerizing location
We had a wonderful time at Maui by the Sea. Great location to Paia, the road to Hana, and numerous beaches. Relaxing views and a great place to unwind. Valerie and Craig were exceptionally welcoming and supportive. You could not pick a better place in Maui.

Perfect stay
We had a wonderful time at Valerie and Craig’s beautiful home. They are very kind and thoughtful hosts. Incredible views from the property and steps away from a swimming beach with sea turtles. We loved cooking on the balcony grill. It was very clean and check in was easy.

Perfect spot in Maui.
The cottage in Paia overlooks the ocean and the mountains. A five minute walk to a lovely little beach with lots of turtles. A five minute drive to the funky little town of Paia. Big lanai for dinner or drinks. And the hosts, Valerie and Craig, were great. We had car problems and they were a great source of support. Thoroughly recommend this place. Perfect for a couple.

Wonderful spot just outside of town
This place was so cute, Valarie was friendly and helpful, you can tell she cares about providing a comfy spot for her guests. We rented bikes to get back and forth from some further away places but the beach near the house is super close and usually has turtle friends.

We loved our stay! The property is so beautiful with trees and plants, and the view of the ocean can't be beat. Valerie and Craig were so nice and very helpful with great tips and suggestions for the island. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. We had such an amazing time.

Great first stay, too short !
This was my husband and I’s first time to Maui, and we are so happy we stayed here. It is just a short ride from the Kahului airport, super convenient/close to Paia, Ho’okipa beach (lots of other beaches - mostly surfing vs swimming/snorkeling in time we were there- nearby too), and Mama’s fish house. It is closer than the more touristy Lahaina area to the Crater and the Road to Hana. Valerie and Craig were super nice, and Valerie was amazing in terms of helping us with tips on what to do on rainy days and how to look up the surf and weather radar etc (we were there during a very rainy week) to make sure we found the best place to be on the island for the day. We hope we can come back again and stay longer next time!

I highly recommend this beautiful spot just outside the village of Paia. Valerie and Craig are thoughtful, generous hosts sharing their beautiful property. It’s a great location and stunning views of the water abs the surfers.

Great lit place
Maui By the Sea is a cute place to stay just outside of Paia.
The location is really great and the view is outstanding. There were a few little things that needed some attention, and the noise from the main road that is right behind the house is quite loud... therefore I couldn't give it a 5 star. Valerie is a great host !

A wonderful oceanside retreat
Maui by the Sea was a superb retreat ohana cottage. The view was wonderful. We love our time there. The deck overlooking the fruit trees & looking toward the ocean was marvelous! The rooms were meticulously clean & very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all the tools needed.
Valerie & family were very friendly and welcoming. It was so sweet to find ripe oranges and bananas left on the steps every so often.
A special family & place I will revisit next time I’m on Maui!

Enjoyed our stay at Valerie’s cottage. Check-in instructions were clear and easy. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We arrived and they had left us a welcome package..which was so appreciated after a long flight. The best part of the cottage is the view of the ocean. The space was very clean and had everything that you could need for a stay. Beach towels and beach chairs are available for the guests. Location is great for exploring Paia and the island. Feeling at home in paradise
Valerie is a wonderfully gracious and friendly host, and we had an absolutely amazing stay. Her cottage is quaint, charming, quiet, comfortable, very clean, has all the amenities you could need, and the atmosphere of the property is unmatched - it was luxurious to feel so at home. We ate all of our meals out on the porch, soaking up the serenity of the view and sounds of the ocean. Paia is also a great little town with excellent shops and restaurants that's just a long work or short drive from the property. It's also an excellent location to kick off the Road to Hana. In our 2 weeks at various locations across Hawaii, our stay with Valerie was hands down the best one and could not have enjoyed ourselves more. Thank you so much Valerie for such an amazing time in Hawaii!

Charming little cottage equipped with everything you need for play and relaxation in Maui. Valerie and Craig were very friendly and informative about the area. The backyard view of the ocean was beautiful - you can see plenty of sea turtles at certain times of the day. The location is not too far from the beginning of the road to Hana and is in close proximity to the little shops in Pa’ia. There is a very relaxed vibe here and it was a very fun getaway for us. Definitely recommend this for a couple’s getaway.

An amazing, relaxing and truly Hawaiian experience
Valerie and Craig are the ultimate hosts! This beautiful ocean view cottage was exactly what we were looking for when we decided to stay in Paia. Both were available and willing to offer advice or ask if we needed anything.
The cottage was well stocked with all the conveniences of home and the attention to little touches did not go unnoticed.

Fantastic location, great cottage!
We just spent over a week at this cottage and absolutely loved it. It's just the right size for a couple and includes all the amenities you would ever need. This was our first time staying on the North Shore and really enjoyed it. The cottage is very centrally located so you can easily get anywhere on the island in a short amount of time. The vibe in Paia is completely different than more commercialized areas of the island and far more relaxed if that's what you're looking for. Views were spectacular from the cottage deck as well as the yard overlooking the ocean, especially if you enjoy seeing turtles, whales, and lots of surfers. There is a small sandy beach within two blocks that we walked to almost every day, plus several additional bigger more developed beaches within a few minutes.
