About this house rental
An absolutely charming mountain cottage style home with one of the best views in Haywood County. A single level plan with an open living area highlighted by exposed beams, vaulted ceilings and skylights. A split floor plan with a large ensuite master suite on one side and 2 guests rooms and 2 bathrooms on the opposite side of the house gives everyone privacy.
You will have wonderful long-range views of the Balsams at an elevation of 3000’ yet you are only 1.5 miles from downtown Waynesville with all the shops, galleries and outstanding restaurants. Ingles & Walmart are less than 1.5 miles from the house.
All roads to the house are maintained by the city and the driveway and parking area at the house are paved as well. The Roost is the midpoint between Asheville and the Cherokee Indian Reservation and Harrah’s Casino - each about 30-45 minutes from THE ROOST so great for day trips with major highways easily accessible. Bryson City for white water rafting and tubing as well as riding the Great Smoky Mountain Railway are only 40 minutes from THE ROOST.
An incredibly well equipped kitchen including a gas stove, quartz counter tops and an abundance of dishes and cookware will make family mealtime easy. Games, cards, books, and DVDs are available to enjoy during your stay. There are flat screen HD TVs, Blue Ray players in the living room & master bedroom as well as an Apple TV box in the living room but we doubt you will need them with the covered porch and rockers at sunrise and sunset calling your name. The Wifi connection is strong and many have worked remotely from THE ROOST over our years of ownership.
Please note – pets and smoking are not permitted at The Roost. Thank you for honoring this request and our Grandchild with allergies especially thanks you!

We had a wonderful stay for our week in Waynesville. The house is super clean with long distance mountain views. We hope to return again.

Would not hesitate to stay here again. Very easy to get to, all sorts of shops and restaurants very close by, hostess is just awesome with offering all sorts of fun stuff to do. The Roost truly feels like a home. We stay in so many rental cabins in the mountains, and so many of them feel "incomplete" and missing many items to make a home feel like a home. Not so with The Roost. I truly feel I could host a holiday dinner here. Shower pressure was great, gas stove, icemaker with fresh ice upon arrival. I think the water is soft, too! Fantastic home!

It was love at first sight As we drove up to the cottage, the pink rhododendrons were in full bloom. They were gorgeous. Other plants and flowers all around. The porch has a swing and several comfy rockers and the most beautiful views of the Balsam mountains. The cottage was clean and well stocked. The split floor plan was an extra bonus as my husband and I brought along his 88yo father. He loved having his own bed and bath. Very happy place. Can’t wait to return.

The Roost is an amazing, comfortable and clean home for a stay in Waynesville and surrounding areas! The home was available to us just as promised on VRBO. The hosts were quick to provide check-in information as well as very prompt in responding to any questions or concerns. A chirping fire alarm was quickly settled by the host! The layout of the home is perfect for privacy of guests; all facilities, appliances, TVs were new and easy to operate. The Roost's colorful decor provides a comfortable and homey feel. The large front porch facing the mountains was furnished with rockers and a porch swing for relaxing any time of day or night. We enjoy the Waynesville shops, restaurants, consignment establishments and other opportunities, and all were an easy 10-minute drive from our location. Rides on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Sunburst Valley never disappoint and are also easily accessible from the Roost. The Lyn Lowery cross can also be spotted from the property (a wonderful story to read about) at night. The hosts provide a wealth of helpful information on area highlights and restaurant offerings. We plan to return with family in the fall for another relaxing, fun stay at the Roost.

Had a super fun time, and the cottage felt like home! Views are great and the house had all the things you would have at your own home. Great communication with the host and cleanliness was top notch. Would definitely go back with my family!

Exceptionally clean. All on one floor, except entrance to front porch - no step out the back. Very nice view of the mountains from the large porch with a swing and rocking chairs, even a nice table for 8 or more. Toys and games for young and old. The drive up is a bit steep, but normally should be no problem. Not too private, but private enough. There was some highway noise.

The Roost is a well-appointed, very attractive, conveniently laid out home surrounded by beautiful flowers and offering a wonderful view of the mountains covered with autumn leaves while we were there. We enjoyed taking short drives to downtown Waynesville as well as to grocery stores and restaurants. We also enjoyed drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Overall a wonderful visit!

This property is beautifully appointed with a garden.filled with flowers and garden art. Sitting on the covered porch in rockers, coffee cups in our hands, and looking out on a lovely mountain view, we hardly wanted to leave the Roost. However, great restaurants, hikes, shopping and drives on the parkway lured us away. Do not use this property! You may not EVER want to leave!

Susan was in contact prior to the trip keeping us informed of activities in the area. She kept us with during our trip making sure we had everything we needed. The house had all the essentials we needed throughout the weekend. The views from the porch was amazing and there was great furniture to enjoy the porch and views.

From the moment we drove up the driveway, we were in love with this property. Although the driveway was steep (in the opinion of this girl born in Florida) we got used to it pretty quickly and it was never an issue. The grounds are gorgeous with all the flowers in the garden blooming and the lush trees surrounding the property. Did I mention that view??!! We couldn't have enjoyed that porch more. We all got up earlier than normal for a vacation, just to have coffee and sit on that comfy porch and watch the day begin. The cool temps were amazing along with being entertained by the wildlife. The house was super clean and had everything we needed. Plenty large enough for all 6 of us! Would we return? You bet! Susan and Keith were the best hosts. Ya'll should go!

Beautiful, cozy home in an awesome area
My sisters, cousins, and I have been searching for the perfect mountain cabin for the 5 of us. And we've found it. Super comfy beds, great sheets, kitchen well stocked, nice open floor plan, almost every room has beautiful mountain view, awesome covered porch that pictures don’t do justice, the third bathroom was no nice with 5 women, beautiful flowers and landscaping, easy check-in, and helpful & detailed instructions about coffee pot, laundry, trash, etc. Best of all, Susan is the best hostess I’ve ever rented from. She responded to questions incredibly fast, checked on us to make sure we’d arrived okay, offered suggestions for local events in town. Waynesville is a lovely town with great food. Try the Sweet Onion, Boojum Brewery and Birchwood Hall. Great food everywhere. Not sure when we'll be able to get back, but we will absolutely book at The Roost again!

Girls Trip 2021!
"The Roost" was amazing. Our annual girls trip in turned out to be the best yet. You are about a little over a mile from the town. You are close to great shopping and awesome restaurants. We felt like we were in a Hallmark Movie! Susan and Keith had a great list of restaurants and recommendations that were spot on.
The Roost has all the amenities that you can ask for but nothing compares to The View! Wow! We can't wait to get back there in the spring. Thank you Susan and Keith for sharing your home with us!!!
I highly recommend "The Roost"!

Spectacular mountain home
My husband I traveled to Waynesville to spend Thanksgiving with our son and his family. The ROOST was spectacular! The views were amazing and the house and property were extremely well kept. Susan was the perfect hostess and made sure every detail was attended to. The house was decorated for Christmas and we felt like we were in winter wonderland! We would highly recommend this property - it is beautiful while at the same time comfortable and cozy. We will definitely be back.

Loved it!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Roost. The house was cozy, the location was great and the view was amazing. And the house was even decorated for Christmas which set the perfect mood for cutting our Christmas tree. My husband said, “Bookmark this one because we definitely want to come again when we can stay longer.” The owner is great and had thought of everything. We can’t wait to return for a longer visit!

Bears
Being a native Texan and resident of the Texas Hill Country, I thought we had the market cornered on natural beauty. Boy, was I wrong. This property is the most beautiful inside and out of any of the VRBO’s we’ve stayed in (12 at last count). Totally blown away by the view from the front porch. Had to make myself come inside when it got dark. That view far surpassed any in the park. Thanks for sharing your home with us. I will go back to Texas a more humble person. No more bragging for me, we’ll maybe for a little while….

Hard to pick a better spot.
If it’s a getaway to the mountains for a couple or a family it would be hard to improve on the Roost. It’s literally a couple blocks off the main road into Waynesville and only 5 minutes or so to the center of town.
Yet the front porch view is magnificent. It’s on a residential street yet you see none of the other houses. The house is compact yet with its vaulted ceiling running its entire length it there is a sense of spaciousness. It has a very functional layout and every room is tastefully and thoughtfully furnished. Appliances all seem new. Bathrooms all in great shape. Beds all very comfortable. The street and driveway are steep (hence the great view so close to town) but are paved and easily driven if taken slowly in low(er) gear. I had no problems in a RWD SUV.
Waynesville is a real gem of a town in western NC. The Balsam and Pisgah ranges surround the town and are big, bold and beautiful. You are near the blue ridge parkway and the scenery driving the parkway between Hwy 276 to the NE to Hwy 19 to the West is just incredible. We’d hike along the parkway stops in the daytime , get takeout for dinner on the front porch, and then drive 10 minutes to Lake Junaluska for a short easy walk at dusk. The town offers plenty of dining and grocery stores and all the amenities. Yet it is also a real town, not just a tourist trap.
Our host Susan was just plain terrific to work with, very proactive in making sure we had all we needed from the moment we booked (literally) to the time we left.
We’d go back there in a heartbeat.

This was our second visit to “The Roost”. Beautiful Mountain View’s and cozy comfort make our girls trip a special occasion every time! We enjoyed golfing in Maggie Vallley, shopping and dining in Waynesville and even a day trip to Asheville! We can’t wait for our next trip to “The Roost”!

Fabulous stay at The Roost
The Roost is an ideal location in Western NC if you're looking to be close to town, but high up on a mountain top. The views are stunning and the convenience of making a quick run into town can't be beat. It was exceptionally clean, well decorated, and comfortable for our family of four. We particularly enjoyed shopping in downtown Waynesville on our one rainy day, and there were plenty of hikes nearby to keep us busy for the rest of our trip. You won't be disappointed at The Roost!

Perfect Vacation Spot
From the moment I was first contacted by the property manager, Susan, after booking I knew we had selected the perfect vacation rental. Susan made the process easy and was very responsive to communication. When we arrived to the property it was exactly as described in the listing. We spent 7 nights at the property and we were extremely comfortable. The views are amazing from the front porch and the porch swing was my favorite place to be all week. We had plenty of space for 4 adults, 2 children and a toddler. We arrived the day after Christmas and the decorations were still up so we were able to enjoy the holidays a little longer. We will definitely be going back!

Perfect Place for Relaxation
Our stay at The Roost was absolutely wonderful! The house was very clean with all the amenities you could need. The view from the porch is indescribable. I sat there for hours just enjoying the peace and tranquillity. Susan is amazing because she let us know the ins and outs of Waynesville and checked in on us to make sure all was well. I would no doubt stay there again and would recommend anyone and everyone to do the same!
