About this apartment rental
The wonderful views of the beach from this ocean front condo will keep you mesmerized! Sit out on the nice size patio to have your morning coffee while watching the dolphins frolic in the waves. The master bedroom holds a king size bed, the second bedroom holds a queen size bed, the third bedroom holds 2 twins and there is a sleeper sofa in the living room. There are two new 42" flat screens TVs in this unit for your viewing pleasure. Catch the sunset from the western facing balcony! You can also watch the action down at the B building pool as well. Reservations of 5 nights or more include linens and towels with beds made. Located in Building A. NO PETS ALLOWED.

We have stayed in this unit a few times. This time, the dryer never got warm, taking 3 hours to dry towels. The dishwasher did not get hot, either, hence dishes were put away dirty. New beds are needed in all 3 rooms. Other than that, it was a comfortable place with a nice view. We were afraid to use the temporary stair case outside while they try to shore up the very old condo buildings.

The property feels worn and somewhat dated. Several appliances didn't work properly, cookware was old and scratched, and things like light bulbs were missing from fixtures. It just didn't have the polish that other units we have rented have had. But the views from the porch can't be beat, and if you are willing to overlook the rough edges this is a great place to stay.

The Realty company was very nice and helpful. As far as the rental property, ugh.... The shower curtain in the shared bathroom was moldy, so we went and bought one to replace it. The floors throughout were filthy. Our socks turned black from walking throughout the condo. Our whole reason for staying here was for the inside pool and hot tub, which neither were working! I understand things happen, but it didn’t work the WHOLE time we were there! We would have stayed in Topsail by the marine base had we known this! We did not have hot water the first night or morning that we got there. A maintenance man had to come fix it. Our positive was the view we had.

Very disappointing. There was a lot of light bulbs either missing or didn't work. Entrance door didn't latch so if you didn't use the dead bolt each time it would blow open on it's own and the slider never locked. Didn't make if feel very safe. Master bedroom door doesn't close. HVAC filter in hallway when the sun hit it, looked like it had never been changed. Cabinets were in need of repair and bathrooms where very dated and run down with mold. So if you have a mold allergy this is not the place to stay. Refrigerator only opens part way so you could not use both draws at the bottom. Needed a lot of TLC. Spent most of my time cleaning instead of enjoying my stay. Views from the balcony made up for it. We did enjoy our stay.and I would recommend summer winds. It's a great place to vacation with family with the pools and beach.

We had a wonderful mini-stay at this unit over Thanksgiving 2022. The view was perfect from the balcony for both sunrise and sunset, and the picture window overlooking the ocean was spectacular for the odd rainy day (as was the warm indoor pool and hot tub). The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and the beds were comfortable for us to fit all 6 of us easily!

The unit is in a great location. The porch was large and we had a wonderful view of the beach, ocean, and one of the pools. The unit itself needs to be updated. We could not open the refrigerator door all the way because it hit the oven, so only one of the vegetable bins could be used. The stove needs to be replaced. The dryer took about 4 hours to dry. There was no storage shelves for dry goods besides the refrigerator. The air conditioner worked very well. The water was filtered so we did not have to buy drinking water.
Some of the outlets didn’t work and the bathrooms need to be updated. The unit appeared to need a good cleaning (dust bunnies under beds and furniture, bathrooms need to be scrubbed).
Our family did enjoy staying in this unit and spending time on the beach and the pools. The building was pretty quiet and the access was great. Over all, this is a great place for a family vacation

This is our 4th year at Summer Winds and up until this time we have had a wonderful experience. Apartment 501 was very disappointing. Upon arrival the apartment was not very clean. Had to move the couch to retrieve one of the kids toys and under it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for some time. The vertical blinds in the master bedroom were falling down. Within minutes there were 3 that had fallen and the majority of the others were taped to hold them on. Called Realty World immediately about the blinds. It was very warm in the apartment, lowered the thermostat but it didn't seem to be cooling any better. There were instructions on how to turn off the breaker to reset the air conditioner. Followed those instructions but it didn't improve. The following day someone from Realty World came to inspect the blinds to see what replacement they needed. At that time we told them about the air conditioning. The blinds were replaced on the 2nd day of our stay. Very pleased with that response. By day 3 Realty World was called about the air conditioning. In the meantime, the dryer was taking forever to dry a load of clothes. Called Realty World about that. They sent someone the next day to fix the air conditioning and the dryer. By this time we were half way through our vacation. For the amount of money we spent for the rental for a week, we were very disappointed. Realty World was very responsive to our concerns but overall there were so many we didn't enjoy the time spent in the apartment until near the end of our stay.

Place was so nasty as doubt it was cleaned after the people before us left. Floors gritty and bathroom floor so nasty. Bathroom rugs nasty and moldy tubs. Place needs really deep cleaning! Need new frying pans and really need new kitchen knives.

The location was breathtaking. The view was worth it all. The key gave some trouble to get in the apartment. There was a sewage like smell that was present when we turned on the water (had to purchase air freshener). The second bathtub/shower could use some cleaning (on the knob and curtain) the size is very small as well. However, if you take away those little things the place was great. The gate people where extra friendly (as well as the residence) the beds were comfortable and the amenities were great. I would definitely return.

The unit we stayed in had not been updated since the 80s. There were stains in the showers, toilets and on the mattress covers. The previous renters items, which were left behind, we still on the counter. Refrigerator did not open into the kitchen and when opened would hit the stove, limiting access to entire interior of refrigerator. Most of the blinds in the unit did not work and were broken and/or missing. TV remote never worked during our visit and the tv (once you were able to turn it on), flashed incessantly. Most guards were polite and accommodating, but one was extremely rude and unnecessarily aggressive. We made the best of the situation and tried to enjoy our vacation anyway, despite the less than ideal conditions of our accommodations.

Treat your renters the way you would want to be treated.
This rental experience could have been outstanding but the property is not well maintained. Renters should be able to arrive with the basics provided ahead of time. The hot water should be readily available...renters are expected to handle the hot water heater, turning on the water and flipping switches...why aren't the property managers handling this.
If renters are expected to wash dishes upon departure why aren't dish towels or dish detergent provided, not even one extra garbage bag was provided. The unit has so much potential but it wasn't clean and simple inexpensive supplies were not provided even in small quantities.

Working with Realty World was great. Everyone was nice and helpful. I have no complaints and would rent through them again. Our room at Summer Winds is in need of an update/renovation. The kitchen and bathrooms were worn out and old. Some of the furniture was the old wicker style. We loved the view and the property was nice.

Great views but condo was worn down and dirty
I expected the condo to be outdated but wasn’t ready for how worn down and dirty it was. I had to go buy a broom and mop the day we arrived. I then spent the first morning sweeping and mopping the entire place. While sweeping the kitchen I found a prescription medication tablet on the floor. Luckily I found it and not my 4 year old. The comforters looked filthy, no mattress pad in the master bedroom, blinds broken in the master bedroom, stained cushions on the dining room table chairs, filthy mats in the bathrooms, and the cleaning crew missed one of the used sheets from the previous renters. Overall I didn’t feel comfortable in the space or sleeping in the bed.
On the bright side the view was amazing!

Pros: to die for views, comfortable chairs on porch. New, comfortable sofa and love seat. Good extra amenities. Sheets/towels included. Parking good. Cons: sheets/towels left in bags inside unit. Upon arrival you must make your own beds. Bedspreads absolutely nasty. Had to wash and drive upon arrival. Was told by agent “we wash at the beginning of the season....”. We chose to cook most meals at home due to medical issues. Every time I turned on stove smoke alarm went off. Upper, left/hand burner did not work. Oven temperature not calibrated correctly; missed first dinner by over an hour. Television only in master suite and living room. Behind the beds it was very dirty. Clearly because beds aren’t made, they couldn’t see. Was overcharged for second payment; took almost 30 days to correct due to “computer glitch.”
