About this house rental
Come fall in love with Silverton while staying at this lovingly cared for piece of history. Built in 1907 this home has a great story and is truly a home away from home. Silverton Hillside Cottage is the perfect place to get away and relax. From sitting on the deck in the large and lush yard to relaxing with a book by the pellet stove or escaping reality in the original claw foot tub you will be glad you chose to stay at our home. Please note we are not on OHV route, more info below.
With 3 bedrooms, a sun-room with futon and a pull out sofa in the living room this home can sleep up to 9 guests very comfortably.
Upstairs the private main bedroom is very roomy with a brand new king pillowtop mattress, down duvet and comfy 400 thread count sheets. Featuring a skylight and large windows with breathtaking views this room is spectacular. There is a pack in play for infants if needed.
The second private upstairs bedroom is a true mountain getaway with it’s floor to ceiling mountain mural. The room features a brand new king and queen pillow top mattress, down duvet and 400 thread count sheets. Views of the hillside to Anvil mountain are super relaxing.
You will find a bathroom with shower upstairs as well as a small work area with antique desk.
Downstairs you will find the third private bedroom with a twin bed featuring a brand new comfy mattress and down comforter with silky sateen sheets. Probably one of the most unique features of the home is found here. This room is wallpapered with historic newsprint from the Silverton Standard dating back to the 1980s.
The large downstairs bathroom features the original claw foot tub and shower.
You will find the kitchen to be fully equipped with everything you need to whip up a meal. Appliances include a gas range, full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, crock pot and blender. The view from the kitchen window is enough to make you want to cook while on vacation, lol.
In the dining room the large farm house table and benches can seat up to 8 or 9. The bay window has outstanding mountain views to help you relax. There is also a pellet stove to keep things nice and toasty on those cold winter days or summer nights.
Is a house really complete without coffee?? We have a full coffee bar set up with a standard drip coffee pot as well as a Keurig. Kcups, coffee and hot chocolate are included with your stay.
In the living room you will find a 46” SMART TV with Netflix and more available as well as a DVD/blue ray player and Wi-Fi. You will find family games in the drawers under the TV and movies to enjoy under the coffee table. The views from this room just like everywhere else are remarkable. All of the furniture is brand new and comfortable to relax in after a long day of jeep trails, train rides or just discovering Silverton and the surrounding area. The couch features a pull out queen bed with upgraded mattress.
In the back of the home you will find a relaxing sun-room that accesses the back deck and has ample areas to hang your coats, take off your shoes, etc. As well, the futon in this room turns into a comfortable full bed.
There is also a new stackable full-size washer and two dryers available for use.
Although the house is awesome and very cozy, the home is known for its outdoor area with a lush lawn, beautiful flowers, 360 views and wonderful solar gain. Enjoy your coffee or dinner on the large deck and just breath in that fresh Colorado air. You will find yourself spending as much time in the yard as in the house. You can literally walk out the back gate from the house up to the Miners Shrine or it's only a 5-minute walk to historic downtown Silverton.
Come see for yourself. We would love to have you as a guest.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at an adorable home in Silverton, Colorado, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the breathtaking views that seemed to stretch on forever. The home itself was beautifully appointed, with every detail meticulously considered to ensure a comfortable stay.
The highlight of our trip, however, was the unexpected and exhilarating encounter with a local bear that decided to pay us a visit. It was a rare and thrilling experience that added a unique touch to our stay. We watched from a safe distance as the bear ambled through the streets, making our time there even more memorable.
The home was perfect for our needs, providing both relaxation and adventure in equal measure. The serene setting and magnificent scenery made it an ideal retreat, and the wildlife encounter was just the icing on the cake. If you’re looking for a memorable getaway that combines stunning natural beauty with a touch of excitement, this place is an absolute gem!
Highly recommended for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the natural wonders of Silverton!

The house worked out perfectly for our needs. Plenty of street parking for two 20’ trailers. The house has several perks including Gas grill, outdoor games for the kids, stocked pantries with all the essentials, and multiple sleeping amenities. Best place to stay so far.

We stay here every year when we go to Silverton. We really appreciate the new king sized bed in the master bedroom. It’s very close to the main part of town but is quiet. There’s a nice yard to relax in. The house is always clean and well supplied.

Silverton Hillside Cottage was a perfect accommodation for our father / 2 adult sons ski trip. Beautifully decorated quaint cottage but with all the modern conveniences. The thread count on the sheets must have been like one million. Clean, comfortable beds, kitchen was stocked with olive oil, ketchup, honey, coffee, all the spices, etc. Quiet setting, jaw dropping views. Short walk to main street. Property manager/owner Karen was responsive and accommodating of late check out when I tweaked my knee and needed a place to chill while sons skied. 100% we would go back again.

Historic meets modern. Karen, the Property Manager was the best! I’ll definitely rebook on my next Silverton trip.

We very much liked the location of the property in relation to the downtown area. It is about a 5 minute walk - the blocks are relatively short in Silverton. There is a park nearby with a great walking path. The home has most conveniences, and is in a very quiet area of town. The yard is fenced, but a smaller dog might slip through the front fence. We enjoyed our stay, and felt that the property is clean, and well maintained.
As with most older homes, there are some older features along with the floor plan. The stairway to the upper story is narrow, and a bit creaky.
Otherwise, we had a comfortable stay, and the location was convenient for dining, sightseeing, and walking about town. We were able to do and see a lot!
The property manager was very prompt and responsive on the one question that we had.

This property is the complete experience. Everything you could want in a kitchen, games, guide books, snow toys, fenced yard. We felt like we lived there.
Probably the best vacation experience we’ve had.

Spent only a short time here as we explored Silverton before heading into the Weminuche, but the property was excellent. Well appointed, comfortable, warm, & well layed out. Will definitely check for availability next time I come out to visit.

We enjoyed our stay in this cozy house. It had everything we could possibly need. It was clean and comfortable and in a quiet area. We had plenty of room for our pickup and trailer to park. The fan in the bedroom upstairs was wonderful. We enjoyed reading about the history of the house and area in the book in the living room. The house had comfortable furnishings and plenty of light. It was everything as advertised. We would gladly stay here again when we are in the area.

My family enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cottage! The home had so many amazing features and character and we were the utmost comfortable here. This was my favorite vacation rental ever and if you love old homes with interesting history and quiet mountain town vibes, then this is the place for you! Loved the views of the mountains from the house, the quiet yard with lots of green grass, and the easy walk to downtown! The owners decorated it really cute and the house was well stocked with all the amenities; much more than we could have asked for. The property manager was also super helpful and quick to respond.

Our stay was great! The house was just as promised, and actually a bit bigger than expected. The house is in a great walkable downtown location, close to everything, but a couple blocks off the main drag, so nice and quiet. Thank Karen for a great stay, we will be back ( if you will have us :-)!

We enjoyed staying here very much! Being our first time in Silverton, we couldn't of asked for a better place to spend it. The home had a cottage feel, yet it was nicely updated. Would definitely recommend!

We enjoy this house and it’s yard in its quiet neighborhood in Silverton. The house has a long and interesting history, which is documented in a book in the house.

Great rental. Generous starter kits, clean, extras (games, plenty of linens/towels), comfy beds, large yard, etc. Might have been a tad better if the yard was mowed, but that was not really an issue. Only downside - scenic/mountain views are somewhat limited due to 2-story houses next door and across the street, and large trees in the front yard; not a deal killer though. We'll be back!

Great spot for a long weekend
My husband and I stayed here with another couple/friends for a wedding weekend. This home served as a great spot to cleanup, rest up, and eat in between hiking/exploring and wedding events. It was nice to have 2 updated bathrooms to use to get 4 adults ready for the events. The kitchen was small but served it’s purpose of us being able to cook breakfast each day. The family room was comfortable to relax in after the day was done. The only two small issues: 1)The floors/stairs do creak loudly so if anyone is moving about, it’s east to hear. 2) we were there in early June and it was hot during the day. The upstairs had little air flow so the rooms were hot when going to bed around 10/11pm even with the windows open all evening. While the downstairs was brisk, the upstairs seemed to lock in the heat simply due to it being an older home. I would maybe suggest offering window fans for guests in the summer?? Otherwise, the house was great and slept 4 of us adults comfortably. It was a short walk to “Main Street” and easy to get around. Parking was not an issue either.

We travel to Silverton for a dance weekend about once a year. Pervious stays were camping. I will never camp again now that I know this cute little rental exists...

Fantastic experience! Loved this house!
My husband and I stayed at this house for a month from Sept 17-Oct 18. I worked from there, and we had various family and friends come stay with us. The house worked beautifully for this experience! We cooked every day. I really loved the kitchen, and the appliances and kitchen set-up was wonderful. The location worked fine for us. We kept our ATV's parked on the OHV street about a block over and just drove or walked over to get them. The yard is beautiful! We got to enjoy Fall our first couple of weeks and then got to experience the first snow of Silverton in the middle of the third week and again in the fourth week. And the host was WONDERFUL and worked so hard to help us whenever we needed something.
Everything was very clean and in good working order. It was a cozy, enjoyable house to stay in. I hope we get to go back another year and do it again!
