My husband and I stayed 6 wonderful months in this South Laguna cottage while on a temporary work assignment in Orange County. We wanted the living conditions of long-term corporate housing with the feel of a vacation rental, and this property exceeded both criteria.
The home was fully furnished with everything that we needed for such an extended stay: a fully stocked kitchen (including spices) with half-fridge, wine chiller, and dishwasher; a cool murphy bed upstairs, a queen bed downstairs, and a neat bunk-bed nook upstairs; a large upstairs living room with lots of windows and a stunning view of the beach (could sometimes see dolphins and whales!); a cozy downstairs master suite with a bathroom, half-kitchen, and seating area; an attached 1-car garage with a modern washer and dryer; a beautiful patio with sitting area that faces the ocean; and a well maintained wrap-around garden (with yummy citrus, apples, and figs) with a large outdoor grill. As long term residents all we did was show up with our clothes and toiletries and everything else was provided including all linens and plenty of towels; wi-fi, netflix, wireless stereo, TVs, and a local landline phone; weekly landscaping service; and trash pick-up (we just rolled the bins about 10 ft to the pick-up area).
The location of the cottage lends itself easy access to many local amenities such as the beaches, hiking trails, paddleboarding, surfing, and whale watching. There are many quality restaurants both in the immediate (walkable) and surrounding areas, as well as a new grocery store that is only a 5 minute drive. All shopping, services, and entertainment that we could want were located in the nearby towns of Laguna Beach, Dana Point, and Laguna Niguel or in the larger cities of Orange County.
Andrea was a wonderful owner and was always responsive and accommodating. If she couldn't immediately address an issue, she had her property manager (who lives in the neighborhood) expertly handle it. The neighbors were nice and welcoming, and the neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. We couldn't have asked for a better stay during our 6 months in Orange County. It made the long hours of work fade away as I came home to paradise every day and watched an amazing sunset.

I wanted to write a personal note to thank you for making our month in Laguna Beach so special. The house was so perfectly located in such a quiet and charming part of Laguna. We enjoyed being able to walk down to 1,000 steps beach (we counted 217), and the café for brunch. Our kids loved having their own separate guest suite downstairs and my husband and I enjoyed the peace and privacy of the upstairs main house. You really spared no detail with all the thoughtful little things that were provided. BIG PLUS having the boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrellas. Although John never got me to join him, he was thrilled to surf Doheny and Salt Creek so close by. We will never be able to go back to hotel rooms now that we’ve experienced Laguna Beach as locals living in our own cottage. We can’t wait to return and I’ll be in touch soon.
Suzanne, John and kids.

This was our very first time using vacationrentals.com. Many friends had suggested it and I am so glad I finally listened to them. Our first vacation rental at this perfect surfer cottage in Laguna Beach was the best vacation our family has ever had! The house was great and met all of our needs (family of 4). We walked the 2 blocks to the beach almost every day. And the 223 steps to get down to the beach is perfect if you have an active family (or want to start becoming an active family)! The cool 1940's kitchen fit our needs and had a great view of the ocean. The weather was great, the neighbors are great, the views are amazing, and the owners have really thought about every teeny-tiny detail of anything you could ever need. The funny thing is, the vacation (or maybe the coziness of the home) brought our family together. Our kids participated in a local summer camp, we discovered our favorite eateries, and we picked (and ATE!)organic tomatoes and basil from the garden almost every day. Safe neighborhood, and perfect location in Laguna Beach (some areas of town get too congested with traffic, but the location of this home was on the south end of Laguna Beach with reasonable drives to grocery stores, malls, and movie theaters). And in the summer the trolley runs for free and takes you all around Laguna Beach....so you don't even need a car during the summer months. I can't say enough good things about this home and the owners!

We (a retired couple with a cat) spent a month at this cottage and loved every minute! The location is fabulous: it's in a friendly neighborhood, a 3 block walk to the beach, and a very short drive to downtown Laguna Beach. The unit is well equipped with everything you need and the owner is very helpful and friendly. It's probably about 800 sq. ft. and very efficiently uses the space, we never felt crowded. There's plenty of room for 2 people to spread out in the downstairs bedroom/ bathroom area leaving the upstairs for eating and enjoying the views (and what a view it is!). The house is exactly as pictured: the second photo is the downstairs with couch, table and bed as well as a full bath. The upstairs is basically one large space with lots of windows. The house was very clean and most of it was recently remodeled. The yard is beautifully landscaped with little walkways, places to sit and a grill. The only unusual thing about the house is that the upstairs and downstairs are connected only by an exterior stairway. Additionally if you have pets, there are no screens on windows or doors. We had to cage our cat most afternoons when the sun got hot so that we could get fresh air. We had 6 people for dinner a couple of times, and there was plenty of room. The kitchen even includes a small dishwasher! We used the Murphy Bed in the upstairs room twice for guests staying a few days. It goes up and down easily so it's out of the way during the day.Take your binoculars and watch the dolphins from the living room window or patio every day. There is a one car garage with a washer & dryer.... a TV with instant Netflix. Check out Cafe Vienna, a short walk away. It became a regular spot to head for lunch... great food!We would highly recommend this house!
