About this cabin rental
Get away to this charming riverside log cabin! Situated on the bank of the Watauga River, you can walk out the door and wade into the water and fly fish to your heart's content.
The main level has a great room with vaulted exposed-beam ceilings and suede furniture arranged around a stone wood burning fireplace with a TV & BluRay player mounted overhead. Vintage fly rods decorate the room, and there's a rustic Christmas tree in one corner decorated with a fly fishing theme. A round table for four by sliding glass doors overlooks the river, and there's another table for 6 in the dining room. The dining room has its own wood burning fireplace and is beside the spacious kitchen with stone flooring. There is also a half bath with washer & dryer on this level.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a full bath with a tiled shower and skylight. The first bedroom has a Queen bed and sliding doors to the upper deck, and at the end of the hall is the master bedroom. This room has a wood fireplace in the corner, a King bed, a loveseat couch, and a daybed with trundle, along with a TV and a set of sliding doors to the upper deck. There are window a/c units in the bedrooms and living room.
The lower floor of the cabin has a second living area featuring a foosball table, HDTV with DVD player, Golden Tee arcade game, and sleeper sofa. There is a full bathroom with a tub/shower combination, and at the end of the hall is a bedroom with two Queen beds in it.
There's just as much to enjoy outside this cabin as there is inside. The top level deck has a hammock, porch swing, and padded loveseat overlooking the river. The main level deck has the gas grill and a selection of rocking chairs. Outside the lowest level you'll find the hot tub, a swing for kiddos, and the gravel path to the firepit with the river just a few feet on down the trail. Relax and listen to the rushing Watauga River as you roast marshmallows in the waterside firepit!
Draggin' Fly is conveniently located along a road that, 100 years ago, was part of the railbed for Tweetsie Railroad when she ran from Elizabethton TN to Todd NC as part of the ET&WNC Railroad, and is just 10 minutes outside of Boone near historic Valle Crucis. There are several whitewater and fly fishing guide services nearby, and all the great attractions the High Country has to offer are just a short drive away. You're sure to love everything about this charming riverside log cabin!

The house was perfect for our trip. The house is spacious and has a great outdoor area. Very convenient location.

Communication with Blue Ride Mountain Rentals staff was excellent! Check in was super easy. We enjoyed fishing on the river and the super convenient location. The kitchen is well stocked with pans, dishes, glasses and mugs, and also has some basic spices and cooking oil. An unexpected bonus was the plentiful firewood provided by the host. One concern: The stairs to the upstairs bedroom are steep and were difficult for our senior dog. Also, the games downstairs are not in good working order. Otherwise, this is a great place - we definitely look forward to coming back!

Kids are begging to go back
I can't say enough good things about this getaway. It's a home that you can check into and not need to leave. So much to enjoy inside and outside of the property. We did a family vacation with ages ranging from mid 50's to 5 and we all had a great stay. 3 weeks later and my 5 year old is still asking to go back. We loved all the fireplaces and the cozy feeling of the cabin. We did a Walmart grocery delivery the morning we got there but there is a Ingles just down the road. We will definitely book here again. Highly recommend.

Awesome all around
I stayed here with some friends for a bachelorette weekend. The house was perfect! Great location, awesome view, and plenty of space for everyone. We loved it and now everyone wants to come back with their families!

Snow tubing trip
Overall great trip. We went up to go to Hawks nest snow tubing. Location was great in proximity to the Hawks nest. Views of the river behind house were wonderful. Slightly sketchy entrance to the neighborhood but nothing to worry about. Would definitely stay here again.

Good stay
No complaints.

the Setting is perfect, the house is ok
The setting on the river is spectacular. To say the house is rustic and outdated is a kind understatement. We did enjoy sitting out on the deck during a huge rainstorm. The stairs are quite steep (and the ones going to upstairs have open risers). I would not recommend for older folks or very young kids .

Fishing Paradise
Cabin was clean and check-in was easy. Great location on the Watagua river. Good for fishing. Very close to restaurants in Boone. NIce private road that leads to cabin. Look forward to my next trip there.

Relaxing
There were six adults for our stay. The cabin was spacious and well equipped. I was skeptical about the window a/c units at first, but they kept the entire cabin cool and comfortable. Our favorite part was the river access behind the cabin... We had such a good time! We were pleased with our stay. Just a heads up, the driveway in is very narrow.

Great Vacation, true memory maker!!
Draggin Fly was amazing! We all thoroughly enjoyed the mountain retreat! While the goal was to ski, I think the whole gang had just as much fun if not more enjoying Draggin Fly. The kids can't stop raving about the trip, playing on the rocks of the river and enjoying family time around the fire pit. It was indeed a great place to remember "Papa" our father that past away in September. A true lifelong fisherman, and fisher of men! We know he was with us in spirit enjoying the Draggin Fly experience!!

Family Vacation
Our stay overall was pretty good. The cabin was out of date and really cluttered. Not as clean as it could have been.

Could be better
Heating in general is lacking. Lots of remote space/fireplace gas heaters make for a gassy smell in the house. The place is clean but could use some upgrades in the kitchen with pans. I'm being a bit picky but for the money they are charging and fact that this place is booked a lot they could afford to invest in a few basics to improve the stay.

Awesome Weekend Getaway
We rented this cabin to recognize my Daughter’s college graduation. My Family and I enjoyed staying here so much. It was so clean and well stocked! Upon arrival it was very welcoming and cozy. We packed up our entire kitchen as we planned to cook over the weekend and this place had everything we could have asked for. After seeing the staircase my daughter immediately said I have got to go buy a baby gate then she opened the closet and there were 4 baby gates! The owners really have thought of everything! Thank you so much for letting us stay at your cabin! We are already discussing our next trip!

Timing is everything
Great cabin and property. Would do again, in spring. Metal roof and no insulation was loud during rain storms. Or, sleep in the great basement. Outstanding spring/summer retreat.

Great house by the water
We chose this house because of the river that runs through the back of the property. It was beautiful to sit and listen and watch it on the deck. My teens and golden retriever loved it. The house is in a great location, not far from groceries stores, restaurants in Boone and Blowing Rock. Banner Elk is a bit farther. The original Mast General Store is only a mile or 2 away. There was beautiful woodland scenery all around the house as well. We didn't get to use the fire pit but it is situated near the water with beautiful views.
The house was comfortable, generally well stocked for cooking, and had lots of seating. We would have liked more towels but this is only a minor flaw.
This house is in the woods near a river in an area of NC where it rains a lot, and I mean a lot. Therefore the house has a little bit of a damp smell but this is to be expected. with the level of moisture the house is surrounded by. It didn't really bother us but I mention this only because if you have members of your party who are very sensitive or allergic to possible mold, you may want to choose a different house. Let me be clear, we did not see any mold of any kind. This is just a heads up for people with severe allergies.
We would definitely use Blue Ridge Rentals again.

A Happy Thanksgiving at Dragonfly
Our Thanksgiving Vacation at Dragonfly was very good. We had between 4 - 12 family members at the cabin depending on the day. My older kids in particular enjoyed all the activities in the area including the ropes course at High Gravity and the Snowboarding at Appalachian Ski Resort. The younger ones enjoyed Gem Mining and walking to Linville Falls on the Blue Ridge. Everyone had fun trout fishing on the river behind the cabin catching 6 trout (and releasing them after a picture). My only caution is that we rent cabins on a regular basis and this was the smallest one we have rented. We thought there were four bedrooms but the one in the basement is one large bedroom and the master bedroom has two pull out beds in addition to the regular bed. We turned the Master into Camp Grandparents and had the grandkids camp in with us so everything worked out. In short, I would highly recommend Dragonfly Cabin and the folks at Blue Ridge Rentals did exactly what they said and were helpful throughout the check in process.

Stay in August
I loved the location of the property. It was close to a lot of things to do. The road into the house is kinda bumpy but safe. The space was great, lots of places to read and hang out with family. The only negative for us was that with the change in flooring there was a tripping hazard. Overall we had a nice time.

Amazing river access
We had a great time at the cabin. The uncertain drive up to the house was a little unsettling. However, we saw great wildlife on that two rut road. Some of our family had some trouble with the mustiness of the house and would recommend someone looking into that. We all agreed the location was amazing and we LOVED the river access.

Disappointed in the Dragging, but not Blue Ridge Rentals
We ended up not staying at the property we originally rented. When we arrived it was very dusty, including dust (mold) caked on all the portable ac units. The stairs were going to be an issue for the new walker in our family, but the cleanliness was major. Some lights were burned out. Blue Ridge rentals helped secure us another much nicer home.

Great weekend
We had a great time but there was a very strong fish odor from the fridge/freezer and we had to go out and get lysol to cover it up.

Cozy mountain cabin for a cold winter weekend!
The Watauga River is quite literally in the backyard- like having a playground to explore! We used a part of our kids’ spring break from school to visit the area and tour App State for our senior daughter. Conveniently located to the university, downtown Boone, and nearby
Blowing Rock (be sure to check out Moses Cone Park and trails!). With two vegetarians in our family, we loved the choice of restaurants with amazing veggie dishes! Wished we could have visited Grandfather Mountain about 30 minutes away, but rain and then bitter cold/ high winds made for poor conditions to hike and try out a mile-high swinging bridge. Maybe next time! The cabin was cozy, multiple fireplaces helped keep us warm, and the kitchen was well stocked with basic needs for cooking in-house. A great stay!

Perfect for a weekend getaway
We had a wonderful time! Stayed with extended family - 5 adults and 2 small children - and everyone loved the house! The stairs were a bit tricky for the kids, my almost 5 year old was able to navigate them safely, but we opted to carry the 2 year old. There were some safety gates in the closet but we didn’t need to use them. Kids had a blast exploring the cabin and my husband and father LOVED having the river right there for fly fishing! We are already planning to come back in the spring. Thank you!

Great family destination
Draggin fly was the perfect place for our family fly fishing trip. There were 6 adults and 2 children, ages 8 and 6, on the trip and we LOVED being able to walk to the river! We enjoyed the hot tub, having a bonfire and the game-room too. The location is right off the highway, so very convenient to Boone and surrounding sights. The log cabin was rustic and very charming - it made for a unique getaway and change of pace. We will definitely make a return visit!

Fantastic Location and Extras!
We spent time at this cabin for an alumni weekend and absolutely enjoyed ourselves! Cabin was lovely and well decorated, beds were very comfortable, even the pillows which is rare for a rental. Fire pit was probably the highlight because it was right on the river. It hailed on Saturday night while we were there and the noise was amazing on the tin roof. We will definitely schedule this cabin again next year for the same time.
