About this house rental
Eaton's Edge offers a smoke free downstairs apartment with exterior entrance, private drive, full kitchen, private laundry room and a home theater. With 20 acres of wooded seclusion, you can step out your door and relax next to the Cascades of Harris Creek, sit and watch deer and turkey in the yard, spot owls, bats and eagles overhead or build a campfire in the pit and listen to the sounds of rushing water and rambling freight trains in the distance. All this and only three miles to Walmart, Food Lion, Redbox and terrific pizza. Our road is one narrow mile of bumps, curves and hills!
20 minutes to Liberty University and all the local colleges in Lynchburg. 10 minutes to the historic Lynchburg River District with its cobblestone streets, antique shops, festivals, concerts, walking trails, restaurants and nightlife. Academy Center for the Arts is just over the bridge.
Bring some paddling gear and head to Monacan Park for a paddle on the James River or rent some gear from James River Adventures at River's Edge Park. Drive out Elon Road to the famous Woodruffs' Pie Shop where you can enjoy a meal, pie, coffee and good conversation with the locals.
Whether you want to launch a family exploration of Liberty University, Lynchburg and all that Amherst County has to offer or you need a quiet, private, comfortable place to stay during a weeklong intensive course, Eaton's Edge is ready for you.
***Studio Upgrade Optional: When requested, we may be able to offer you an additional studio apartment with a bedroom which sleeps 2 more guests and another large full bath. This studio apartment is completely distinct from the rest of the house. It has its own private entrance, and is adjacent to the main apartment for togetherness and supervision. This is an ideal option for three generations traveling together. The Studio Upgrade requires an additional fee which is provided upon request through the VRBO system as a special offer.

Honestly we could not have asked for a better stay! Everything was as described, the creek was so peaceful, and all the options for games were exactly what the kids were looking for. Plus we saw a mom and two baby deer ❤️ thank you again!!

Myself, along with my son and daughter-in-law, were in VA for a family wedding. The initial drive to the property off the main road seemed a never-ending series of hills, twists and turns, especially for folks from the city. But, in fact, the trip in/out was only about five minutes.
The property itself was great. A two bedroom, one bath on the lower level of a lovely private home. The house is on a hill so we could drive right to our entrance in back. The unit is all on one floor with no steps (important to me). There's just a short walk down to the creek. The area is wooded and incredibly quiet. Hosts provide a number of outdoor activities.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend.

Our stay was driven by our visit to Liberty University, and normally we would have stayed at a hotel but everything was booked, and im very glad it was. The property was peaceful and clean and we absolutely loved our stay.

The property was so spacious, clean and had literally everything you could ever need in a vacation rental. Plenty of comfy seating in the common areas and a great projection TV system for movie viewing. It unfortunately rained buckets the whole time we were staying on site, so we didn’t get to utilize all the wonderful outdoor amenities like the fire pit, tubing on the stream (literally!) in the back yard and exploring the woods. And it’s close to lots of the attractions we came to the area for including the BlueRidge Parkway and the Natural Bridge Caverns. I highly recommend this lovely home away from home.

The size is perfect, so is everything else! We fit our family of seven very comfortably. I loved not having to pack a lot so that my kids had things to play outside.
There were many comforts of home in case we forgot. 😊 The kids walked in and all smiled right away, so it was immediately a good sign. It rained a little, so we went to Sea Quest at the mall and also did a little shopping. There was more of the property l, outside games, and Lynchburg we left unexplored, so we hope to return. 💌💌
It was nice to give my kids a piece of my childhood, exploring the creek and being outside was great!

The location is great being close to LU and downtown Lynchburg. The setting is so serene and the hosts were great with communication. The kitchen had every appliance we needed and we enjoyed grilling out the first evening. Would highly recommend and even though we probably won’t be back to Lynchburg, we would definitely stay there again!!

My husband and I and our 1 year old twins enjoyed our stay here.
It was so homey and clean. The host had plenty of extra towels and blankets which was a plus. And I loved that they had extra fans in the closet for the white noise!
The only things I would change, is a smart tv and a softer bed! We would definitely stay here again! The creek is so beautiful I wish we could have hung out down there more during our stay!
Thank you again for sharing your home!

Our host was very helpful connecting with us. The property was out in the country with a stream. It made for a quiet and enjoyable stay. I could see how in the warmer weather it would be fun to play in the stream. Very comfortable stay

What a wonderfully relaxing place this was! Very comfortable, beautiful home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return in the future. The Fall colors were gorgeous and the creek was delightful— we loved sitting and listening to the water rushing over the rocks. Highly recommend.

Great place to relax
We went as a family of 7 and had a great time. There was so much to do on the property. The kids loved the games and toys in the house, the tetherball and carpetball in the yard, and especially playing in the creek!

We had a lovely stay
We had a short stay at the property because we were in town for a wedding. We didn’t have a chance to enjoy all of the activities and the river behind the house due to the events we had to attend. The property was much larger than I thought based on the photos. It was very comfortable and spacious for a family of 4. Jennifer was a great hostess and was always available for any questions. I highly recommend this property.

This place is amazing
This was the best experience ever. We went here for my daughters graduation from liberty. We never dreamed we would meet such a nice couple that own the property. They knew why we were there and really went to extra mile in helping us celebrate her accomplishment. They had cup cakes with a graduation cap, and a cinnamon bun that was over the top. Thank you so much!!! The property is just amazing, walking from the house down to the fire pit is well light and easy to get to, it over looks a nice mountain river, the sound of the water over the rocks from the fire pit is amazing. Walking down to the river is so beautiful and the sound of the water is just so soothing. Once you get down to the river they have walking sticks so you don’t fall while walking the river. I will sum it up with you will be very happy that you stayed here!!!!! We didn’t want to leave

Quiet retreat
We had such a wonderful time in this cute little attached basement. We had our own entrance, outdoor area, and all the facilities we needed to make our stay peaceful and enjoyable. We were very close to the city of Lynchburg so we went there many times to enjoy what the city has to offer. We would definitely recommend! Also, the river in the backyard is absolutely gorgeous but you do have to go down some steep steps which, being a healthy family of ages 3, 5, 34, and 38, we had no problem traversing but it would be difficult for someone with mobility concerns. One of our favorite escapes yet!

"Can we stay here forever??"
Stellar communication and warm hospitality, sparkling clean apartment with a gorgeous yard. Secluded, yet a short drive to restaurants and stores. Comfy cozy living room, well appointed kitchen and bathroom - and complete with books, games, DVDs - this rental was everything we could have hoped for. We especially enjoyed the creek, hikes through the woods and our drives exploring the neighborhood! Wish we could have stayed longer! Would not hesitate to book again & again! Thank you!

Long weekend
We were looking for a quiet weekend stay in the woods and this place was PERFECT! There are many levels outdoors to sit and listen to the water rushing by. If yo have bad knees take your time getting down, but the hosts are kind enough to have plenty of walking sticks to help you along the way. Floating in the many tubes provided was so wonderful!!! We spent an afternoon at a place called SeaQuest which was an amazing experience. We fed iguana and budgies! We also spent an evening at a Hillcats baseball game. We've missed live baseball so much through the pandemic. So much fun! The kitchen had everything we needed and the host even brought by some pastries! How great is that? We will definitely be back!

Great getaway (and great creek)
Our family of 4, with two kids 10 yrs and 11 yrs old, really enjoyed our stay at the home. You have a separate entrance to the basement of the house. The family above doesn't bother you, unless you want something. The family, led by Jennifer and Gary were very nice. We were surprised to find that inner tubes were part of the fun. You put in the Harris Creek just downstream of a bridge you used to access the house. The bridge is about a 10 minute walk from the house. You float down the creek to the house, about a 1/2 hr to 45 minute float. There is a very small rapid just after the "put in" and a larger rapid, that you can easily avoid if you want to, just at the take-out, where the house is located. We brought a DVD to watch and were very impressed with the projector and surround sound supplied with the house. The house has a wide variety of DVD's to watch as well. We took a bike ride around Liberty University, which is pretty hilly. Then we took a bike ride on the James River Heritage Trail that starts in downtown Lynchburg area near the river and crosses into the Percival's Island Natural Area and then again crosses over to the other side of the river (not hilly). The next day we started from about the same location and walked upstream along the Blackwater Creek, still part of the James River Heritage Trail, and this path passes through an old railroad tunnel. The highlight for the family was the inner tube floating (which we did on 2 separate days) and playing in the rapid near the house. We cooked our own meals and thought the kitchen was great.
