From the eclectic charm to the great location, we enjoyed this home very much. Clean and has everything we needed for our short stay, but you could easily stay here for as long as needed.

The darling home served as a wonderful getaway. Loved the quiet street, water views, and quaint garden. The perfect location to walk or bike from Asilomar to Seaside. Many iconic dining options a few blocks away. Would stay again for sure! Thanks.

This was our second stay here and it was great! The location/view can't be beat. The back patio area was delightful. Parking in front of the house was never an issue, and our stay was during a very busy Monterey Car Week! Communication with the owner was superb. We are a fan of antiques, so the decor was spot on with us. We would stay here again!

The place is in a great location. Could walk to eateries, the aquarium & pacific coast trail. Easy check in & check out. No problem finding parking.
Home comfortable to hang out & read in the living room. Water pressure great, kitchen has everything one would need & plush towels in bathroom.

Three houses down to the bay, beach & coastal walking path. Short walking distance to Cannery Row. Mid-way between 17 Mile Dr (Carmel/Point Lobos) and the historic Old Fisherman’s Wharf for whale-watching.
Grand St. is not a typical through-street so easy parking with limited traffic and sidewalk traffic. Lots of privacy. The house is Victorian-style inside, but the LR sofa & chair are very comfortable. The LR table by the window provides a good work space & views of the bay. Despite being a historic home, there are multiple electric outlets in every room & good internet/TV connections.
The kitchen is well-supplied, but we only used it for ready-made items & reheating leftovers from our daily restaurant meal. The house has a cozy ambiance with gas fireplace & accent lighting at night in LR & outside back patio.
The bathroom has a very large, deep open space in the middle section of the built-in cabinet that holds all needed toiletries. Two important things to be aware of:
1. The 2 very comfortable bedrooms are connected - the queen bedroom has doors to the LR, the double-bed sized BDR, & the bathroom. The double BDR (with a large pullout wall TV screen) only has a door to the queen BDR (close to the bath). The bath also has a door to the kitchen.
2. The bathroom has a sink and a claw-ft bathtub. If you have any mobility/balance issues, it may be a little challenging to get out. The 3-sided wall next to the tub can be held to help.
ENJOY…WE LOVED OUR STAY!

We love the area and enjoy the house. It’s clean and great location. Parking can be frustrating at times because the bed and breakfast across the street and others will park in front of the house :( But we’ve been very happy here- it’s our second time in this house and i recommended it to my sister who stayed the week before us!

This home was perfect for me, its proximity to everything I wanted was just right. Home was clean and comfortable. Loved sitting at the table at breakfast and looking out on Monterey Bay.

Ruined our 5 year wedding anniversary
Poor communication / Weird owner. He Thought we were staying starting the night before. apparently can’t read a calendar. Asked “are you in?” The day BEFORE
He Takes a looong time to get back to you.
Spiders. Had to hunt and kill a large aggressive spider at 4:00am terrified wife. Then couldn’t sleep
Owners late response: “my wife was at the house last weekend and she didn’t see a single spider”. Hilarious. Doesn’t even deserve a response
Said Would refund if we left and stayed elsewhere the next night- Seriously?does not make up for anything or help the situation. In fact it would make it worse. Now you are stuck having to find another place, pack, move etc.
Old Bed way too soft. You will sink in. kills your back
No parking. There’s a drive way, but only a tiny Fiat would fit- NOTHING else. you’ll have to park blocks away and walk back
Grandmas creepy old house. Bad taste. I like deco / vintage but this is creepy, old, smelly, gross. Overkill with paintings jammed everywhere
Hand soap in bathroom empty. Ants in kitchen. Family pictures.
Hours later:
Ok so just got home, unpacking. Had a plastic bag with clothes to be washed - inside another spider, it got, ran. I had to hunt and kill it. Seriously the last straw
Later again: went through all items -one by one- in my suitcase and my wife’s: there was another spider in one of her her shoes. Thanks for wasting more of my time VRBO/James

BTW, my name is Marilyn, not Candace.
My friend and I loved this property. It was really magnificent. Very comfortable, especially the beds, very welcoming, peaceful and just lovely all round. It was amazing to be so close to the sea, and close to everything, actually. I can’t say enough good things about it. We’ll definitely be back!! ~Marilyn

The property is very well stocked with essentials and very clean. The view from the living room of the ocean was spectacular. The layout is a little odd, as mentioned in the listing because to access the bathroom from the master bedroom you have to go

After several stressful weeks as a homeschooling mom of 3 and a husband who had extensive travel at the beginning of the year, I needed a BREAK - by myself! My husband found me this wonderful place on the ocean and I was sold - it was even better than the pictures! I loved the character of this old home, the way they hung the paintings using the crown molding, the vintage furniture (which was very comfortable!) and the many other nods to the period when the house was built.
I spent each night with the fireplace on, cozied up on the couch watching a movie... and each morning eating breakfast at the table watching the ocean. I walked to dinner, walked to Monterey, and just stood at the ocean. It was exactly what I needed to feel refreshed and restored.
Lastly, it felt very safe. I had no worries staying by myself and felt safe and secure the entire time. The host was accessible and helpful and I knew if I had any issues I could contact him.
I would definitely recommend!!

Everything from start to finish was great. Easy check in and check out. Communication with James was excellent but nothing really was needed. Loved the backyard and spent many afternoons enjoying the garden. The house is conveniently located to so many things. Driveway is too small for a car but street parking was usually easy to find. We would stay there again without hesitation!

Perfect location for the beach/ocean, and walking distance to town and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed the house. It had everything we needed.

We loved the house, a fab kitchen meant we could enjoy the produce from the local farmers market. The pictures don’t do the property justice, it’s such a quirky house. The garden is so lovely & made even more beautiful by the humming birds. James was a responsive and amenable host - thank you so much!

Walk to the ocean, walk to restaurants! Quiet neighborhood. House is furnished with tasteful antiques, including a claw-foot tub equiped with shower. Well-appointed kitchen. TV is in back bedroom, which we didn't use. Bike/walking path traverses up and down the coast, less than 50 yards from the house-- we hardly used our car! Tranquil backyard space with fountain.
We very much enjoyed our stay. Great getaway spot!!

The location is amazing. The host responds immediately. The beds are comfy but note that this would not be a two couple house. Rooms are connected and small. Great for one couple. Very clean. Backyard is an oasis. Kitchen well equipped. Be careful stepping out of tub/shower if you are short. It was also exceptionally warm in Oct and house was 77 when we went to bed. Host tried to ship us a fan. We finally found the last box fan in Pacific Grove. He offered to pay but we are going to keep it with us for duration of Road Trip. We appreciated his concern and follow up. You will enjoy this house.

Quaint house in perfect location!

This was a lovely property in a perfect location with all the comforts we needed. The only problem was beachgoers parking in our spot causing us to hunt for a parking spot up the street. We loved it, and Mr. White always responded immediately to our questions.
We would go back in a heartbeat.

Great location! Host very responsive! Decor is vintage and very cozy, fireplace is the bomb!!! Furniture more comfortable than it looks in the pictures. Love all the antique furniture and fixtures. Kitchen well stocked, my favorite place in the house.
Some things to improve on, TV is a bit challenging. Would love the TV to be in the living room. Windows to open easier.
All in all I would give this a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. Would recommend this to my friends and family!

Easy walk to everything. It would be helpful to have written instructions. Fireplace didn’t work. Finally figured out oven requires you to keep holding on off switch.

This is our second time staying here. We just love the house, very comfortable, cute backyard for a glass of wine or lunch, very plush towels and a location that can't be beat. Walk to everywhere in Pacific Grove. Nice view of the water from the dining table. We will return.

Top location Beautiful house

This was perfect for two seniors location- wise. Ocean view and quiet neighborhood. Updated appliances. The only problem was the bed was too soft for our liking, but others might find it perfect. (There was no need to speak with the owner, but I couldn’t submit this review without rating it, so I gave 5 stars because I expect I could have done so if needed)

Great property with amazing location and view. Easiest check in and check out possible.
10.0 / 10.0
This house was perfect for what I needed. Kitchen was well equipped. The furniture was classic. The dining table set right in a corner window and you had beautiful views of the ocean, boats going by and people watching. Main bedroom had a good size dresser and large walk in closet. Nice secluded back yard. If you are going to rent this property to watch TV, this is probably not the place you want. The only TV is a very nice Samsung, but it is located in the second bedroom, which you have to go through the main bedroom to get to the second bedroom. Normally if you going to be in Pacific Grove, you’re not visiting to watch TV. Great location to beach, food, restaurants and other attractions.

We went to Pacific Grove for our 10-year wedding anniversary. The location of this property was excellent. Very close to Lover's Point, an amazing bike trail and downtown PG. We can't say enough wonderful things about our stay. The home is adorable, VERY clean and the host was easily reachable and solved any issues promptly. We cannot wait to return!
