About this apartment rental

Great vacation getaway one half block from Carlsbad Beach and a short walk to Carlsbad Village shops, restaurants and breweries / wineries. The Amtrak / Coaster is also convenient for direct access to the Del Mar Racetrack, Old Town, downtown San Diego and more. Easy access to north, south and east freeways. This lightly used owner's unit sleeps 5, is well decorated and comes with your own 1000 sq ft ocean view deck with gas fire pit, BBQ and tiki bar. This second floor unit is located in a well-maintained 4-unit building with onsite laundry, single car garage and off street parking. The second story unit is accessed by way of a single flight of stairs. As of 2023, the unit has new, larger and more quiet air conditioning unit to take the sweat off those hot and humid summer days. Kid-friendly amenities include a baby gate and pack-n-play. Garage has beach chairs, toys and wagon. A minimum 6-night stay is required to reduce the turnover. The home was wonderful, with comfy living room furniture and beds (although they are very soft, we still slept well!) The bedding is wonderful, and there are thick bath towels. The air con was greatly appreciated, as a few days it really got hot upstairs, even with all the windows open. Loved walking to the beach every morning for our daily exercise and peaceful, ocean sounds. We've already booked two weeks next year. We were pleasantly surprised to have a bottle of wine awaiting for us! What a nice touch. Thank you Dennis!

Fantastic location for easy and close beach access, and walkable to Carlsbad Village. Patio deck provides a great view of the beach and plenty of seating options. Love that it’s in a quiet neighborhood as well. Beds were comfy, lots of towels for beach and in house use. Had beach chairs, umbrellas and a wagon. Well stocked kitchen too! Will be first option if we return to Carlsbad!

We have stayed at this property now a handful of times and have never been disappointed. Dennis is a wonderful host. The property is clean and has all of the necessary amenities that we look for in a vacation. The outside deck is a huge bonus for this property. We eat breakfast there and dinner there and read and stare at the ocean and have a wonderful relaxing experience.

This property is exceptional for its location and the massive 2nd story deck with ocean view! I spent every morning reading and having coffee and breakfast out on the deck while taking in the breeze and ocean view. At night, there is a great fire pit to hang out with a glass of wine. The unit is well stocked and the host is very attentive. The bedrooms could use some updating, particularly the mattresses and carpeting, but other than that the place is great.

Thank you Dennis for an amazing place to stay and for being such a great host! My husband and I stayed a week and enjoyed sitting on the deck looking at the ocean and people watching. We loved the location, with the beaches and the Village all within short walking distance. We also loved the large deck and the nice views. When I texted the host Dennis about a problem with the coin-operated dryer, he was super responsive and got right on it by coming over in person and fixing the problem himself. He even gave us a roll of quarters for the inconvenience. I wish all hosts were like him! We would not hesitate to return

Can’t say enough good things about this vacation rental. It is located in an incredible spot just steps from the beach and the Carlsbad village. Our family took advantage of the easy access and the easy access gave us so much opportunity to enjoy the area. The condo is so well appointed and features everything you will need and more. The setup, furnishings, tvs and overall setup was perfect for relaxing at home. The large deck and view was also a an amazing amenity. Stay here and like all the people before us you won’t be disappointed. Thank you Dennis!!!

My family and I were very impressed with the preparations made for our stay. The apartment was immaculately clean. As has been mentioned before, everything you need is there and well stocked. We have stayed in rentals where the photography looked much better than the rental. Dennis' place is the real deal. Called Dennis for an issue, and he answered immediately and was going to come over and check it, but I cancelled it as it wasn't an issue at all. All in all, it was great.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this rental. It was so well stocked with all the essentials. We loved watching the sunset over the ocean from the deck while sitting around the fire pit. A perfect setting with the ocean a stone’s throw away and a short walk to great restaurants and stores. We hope to be back next year. Thank you Dennis for being a great host.

Dennis's apartment was perfect for our family vacation. We spent a lot of time on the huge deck watching sunsets and grilling. The property is in a great location close to restaurants, a fantastic beach right across the road and much needed air-conditioning that kept us cool during the recent heatwave. We would love to come back one day.

This condo had A fully stocked kitchen and even supplied the coffee. Also all the extras you need for the beach-chairs, umbrellas, etc. The deck was perfect for dining and watching the sunset every night, not to mention proximity to beach near lifeguard station. Host left easy to follow instructions regarding check in and leaving.

This home-away-from home has been Very nicely updated! It looks even better than it did before, and we loved how it looked before! We especially appreciated the new pots n pans and Keurig as we stayed for 2 weeks and cooked at home most meals. We just bring our clothes, a few games to play, several books and buy food after we get there. You' ll find beach chairs, a boogie board in the garage below - I saw a surfboard down there as well. The unit is fully stocked, and has cable TV with most any channel you'd want. You can be on the boardwalk that oversees the ocean in less than 5 minutes. I drank many a cup of coffee at that boardwalk rail. Did I mention the deck? Best part of the stay! We parked The lounge chairs by the see-through wall and spent hours reading and looking at the ocean and passerbys. I was unable to give more than 5 stars!!! The owner, Dennis is very attentive, and will help ensure your stay is Great!

This place was so perfect for our week stay. The kitchen was fully stocked with all cooking essentials which is helpful if you don't want to go out to lunch/ dinner every night! The patio... omg it's amazing. The unit was equipped with baby gate and beach items for the kids. We will be back to stay here!

We love this place

this was our second year with a10 day October visit. We have kids and grandkids in Carlsbad and the big deck here is a magnet for them all--especially with Covid. The Tiki bar is a big hit with 5 and 9 year old granddaughters. Fire pit a big hit with us all. Some of the furnishings are getting a little tired, but the location and the very large deck make this place a winner for us.

As usual, the home was exceptionally well kept, fully furnished w sleeping for 6, all kinds of pots n pans, dishes, silverware, barbeque accessories - just a very comfortable place to stay for your family n friends! We brought a lil coffee, eggs n meats n canned goods for eating in... Had a Great time, sooo sorry to leave this am!

Overall the place is dated and worn. The AC does not work and we were there in the heat of summer. The deck should be sprayed down. you drag in the dirt when you go in and out. The deck is the best thing about the place. There were toys for the beach in the garage. The bar down the street is loud but close in case you like that.

It rained for most of our stay but that didn’t stop us from visiting all the stores and restaurants that were near. We were able to get to the beach on the last day! The only problem we had was the AC was a loud sometimes but worked great.

Great no-frills spot by the beach

We were in town with two children and this place offered us everything we were looking for. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen. It is conveniently located, next to the beach, which made the walk there with two children quite easy. The price for the unit was right and we would definitely rent from Dennis again. He was a responsive host and thoughtfully left a bottle of wine for us on arrival.

We loved our 165 Walnut Ave. in Carlsbad, CA stay over the holidays. It was such a treat being by the beach, close to town and the rail station. The deck is amazing and gave us magnificent sunsets every day! It was everything I had hoped for and more. Nice and homey, comfortable beds. Highly recommend this property.

We have family is Carlsbad and this condo with it's hugh deck proved to be a great place to hang out and watch the sunset, eat meals, enjoy the fire pit in the dark and walk into town for other meals. Dennis was a gracious host. We will be back for another 10 day visit.
