A housekeeper provides free daily cleaning in all accommodation. Upon request, preparing a hot meal can be organized. Also this service is included. Groceries can be bought at the nearby shops. If our guests wish it we organize joint meals or barbecues by the pool.
All tenants have free access to a private beach about 1000 meters away, where the toilet, shower and sun loungers (subject to a charge) are available.

Perfect stay!
My brother and I needed a weeks stay at short notice whilst in Jamaica. The room had all we required, parking is on site and a lovely pool right outside our door! Monika and Axel were fantastic hosts. Very welcoming and they treated us like family, helping us out numerous times and even washing our clothes while we were out.
Your place was a perfect retreat. Thank you for your kind hospitality and numerous beers!

Amazing find!!
I researched several places to stay before settling on Monika's and Axel's beautiful and quaint resort. I have stayed at all inclusive resorts, to small, family owned hotels... this was by far the most unique and welcoming places I've experienced in all of my travels. I was traveling alone and wanted to find a place that had friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere. Needless to say, I got way more than I paid for. From the moment I arrived I felt very welcomed and taken care of. The accommodations were fantastic, clean, and comfortable. I loved having access to the kitchen as I love to cook local food while I am traveling. Monika was an amazing host and we became fast friends. We went out a few times to get groceries and to a seafood restaurant for drinks and great conversation. She was always making sure that I had everything I needed. I appreciated how much effort and hard work was put into keeping the grounds and pool looking and feeling so great. I spent hours soaking up the sun, listening to music and floating on my mattress in the pool each day. Garfield, who you will find attending to the grounds as well as preparing delicious meals, was extremely knowledgeable about everything from local food to the ways of life on the island. I woke up each morning to my yoga practice in the courtyard with his friendly smile and fantastic smells of whatever he was roasting for the daily meals. I looked forward to making smoothies with him and whatever gorgeous fruit or vegetable he would bring me to experiment with for the day. You can pay extra to have meals prepared for you or have local food on hand.
I felt that my privacy was respected as well as just enough company when I needed to engage in a great conversation or learn something new about the ways and life in Jamaica.
Some other great features to staying with Monika and Axel is access to a private beach within walking distance. I felt very safe as a female traveling alone walking in the neighborhood. They also are willing to provide private transportation to and from the airport for a reasonable cost.
Runaway Bay is a great place to stay in Jamaica. The people are so friendly and have such a beautiful outlook on life. I would highly recommend booking your next vacation at this beautiful and charming family owned resort. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait to return and hopefully meet Axel this time around as he was on Holiday during my stay.

A wonderful experience
Monika and Axel were the perfect hosts. This was our first time in Jamaica, and I can truly say we experienced Jamaica, the culture, the food and the wonderful people. On the first night, Monika and Axel invited us to play pool with Courtney and another couple that was visiting, at a local bar. Later in the week, Courtney spent a day with us showing us around Jamaica and stopping at the roadside stalls to purchase local food and drinks, as well as a large craft market. On our last night, we walked to a couple of nearby bars and the men played pool again, even the locals joined in to play. The private beach is within walking distance, and we always felt safe walking. The property is well kept and clean and the staff very friendly. The experience we had was beyond our expectations. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful.

Sehr zu empfehlen!
Wir waren total begeistert von Jamaica und dazu von unserer Unterkunft. Monika und Axel haben unseren Aufenthalt unvergessen gemacht.
Die Unterkunft war durch die tägliche Reinigung immer sauber und ordentlich. Es gibt genügend Platz für 2 Personen, selbst 3 Personen hätten immer noch genug Platz. Die Einrichtung ist mehr als zweckmäßig, es gibt genug Platz um selbst zu kochen oder sich auf Wunsch mit heimischen Delikatessen bekochen zu lassen. Die elektrischen Fliegenklatschen und der Deckenventilator waren unverzichtbar!
Der große Pool direkt neben der Terrasse wird täglich gereinigt und war meist unsere erste und letzte Anlaufstelle im Tagesverlauf.
Monika und Axel sind wirklich ein Original und werden nichts unversucht lassen euren Urlaub so schön wie möglich zu gestalten! Die angebotenen Touren, die Reitausflüge (selbst für mich als Anfänger unvergesslich) oder die Poloabende, es wird keine Langeweile aufkommen.

Fabulous Holiday
It was so nice to have visited again. This was our first stay in the apartment as we usually stay in the villa. My husband and I travelled alone this time so thought we would stay in the apartment. It is fully equipped with a four burner stove/oven and full size fridge so this was excellent. We shopped for our groceries in Montego Bay when arriving which was cheaper than the small local stores which are great in a pinch. The Mega Mart has liquor in the store so it is like one stop shopping. A trip to the Swiss butcher the next day and we had all we needed. What I loved about the apartment was the close proximity to the pool. I would often go for a swim or soak in the a.m. before cooking breakfast which was a lovely start to the day. The beach is as beautiful as I remember but they now have a lifeguard on duty most days which I saw as great compliment. We took a cooler with us to the beach with our own snacks and refreshments. There are a few bars/restaurants within close proximity so on the nights you don't want to cook there are options. Monika, Axel, Claudette and Courtney were so accomodating, all we had to do was ask if in need of anything, I felt so spoiled having the daily housekeeping services of Claudette. She is fun and has a great sense of humor. The highlight of this trip was the bonfire/ BBQ we were treated to and of course the wonderful birthday dinner Monika arranged for me. Thanks to all of you and counting the days until we can return again.

Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!!! :)
Es war alles zu unserer vollsten Zufriedenheit, von der Ankunft bis zum Abflug. Wir sind sogar nach 3 Wochen mit einem kleinen Tränchen im Auge nach Hause geflogen, das sagt ja wohl schon alles!
Das Appartement hat alles was man sich wünscht. Man kann sich sehr gut selbst verpflegen oder aber im Ort auch lecker jamaikanisch essen gehen. Man sollte halt nur alle Lebensmittel im Kühlschrank aufbewahren, da diese sonst gerne von den Ameisen vernascht werden. ;) Das Zimmer wird täglich gründlich gereinigt.
Der Privatstrand ist super gepflegt. Wir waren im März eigentlich fast alleine am Strand und man hatte auch Schattenplätze unter den Mandelbäumen zur Auswahl.
Wir sind von Monika & Axel und deren Angestellten sehr nett aufgenommen worden und haben uns immer sehr wohlgefühlt. Die Grillabende sowie die Touren zu den Polospielen waren sehr schön. Danke nochmal dafür!
Und lobenswert sind auch die Ausflüge mit Axel. Wir haben fast alle Touren mit ihm gemacht. Die Ausflüge lohnen sich wirklich, da man sehr viel über Land und Leute erfahren kann.
Der Ort ist wirklich toll und zentral gelegen um verschiedene Sehenswürdigkeiten innerhalb eines Tages zu besichtigen. Ausserdem kann man in den anliegenden Bars Billard spielen oder einfach nur der Reggae-Musik lauschen oder sogar tanzen gehen. Es sollte für jeden etwas dabei sein.
Sollte ich irgendetwas vergessen haben, dann werde ich das bei unserem nächsten Besuch ergänzen. :)
Ich hoffe, dass wir uns im nächsten Jahr wiedersehen werden. Aber spätestens übernächstes Jahr!

Optimal
Jetzt, wo ich meinen nächsten Urlaub buchen möchte, erinnere ich mich, daß ich noch nicht die beabsichtigte Bewertung abgegeben habe. Spät aber doch nicht vergessen:
Die vorhergehenden Bewertungen treffen vollständig zu, dem kann ich nichts weiter hinzufügen. Zu empfehlen sind auch die Touren, welche vom Haus angeboten werden. Auch werde ich nie die Flüge mit Axel vergessen. Diese waren wirklich besondere Erlebnisse.
Die Unterkunft habe ich aufgrund der mittigen Lage ausgesucht. Man kann alle Ausflüge innerhalb eines Tages absolvieren.
Mit heutigem Datum habe ich wieder per E-Mail nachgefragt, ob Ende Feb. 2011 ein Appartement frei ist. Das sagt doch schon alles aus !!!!

Rainbow Creek Bungalow
My husband and I have just returned from a week at Rainbow creek and found the experience extremely good. Monika was on hand to help whenever we needed anything, but at the same time did not intrude on our privacy. The accommodation was extremely clean and our every need was met. The Bungalow was very secure and we felt safe at all times. Monika puts a great deal into making her guests feel safe and comfortable and we would certainly use this venue again.
Thank you Monika. (Unfortunately we did not get to meet Axel as he was in germany throughout our stay). We would highly recommend this property to anyone . The property description was accurate and there were plenty of local attractions within close proximity, also shops and petrol stations churches etc.

My Home Away from Home
I am a repeat visitor and my last visit was in October of 2009. My stay was 2 weeks and it was the best time ever in Jamaica. This trip I came with two of my co-workers. Since I know a lot about Jamaica I showed them around the local bars restaurants beaches and stores. They were very impressed with the property, the staff, and the security. Needless to say my co-workers love the place and are making plans right now to return in June.
You feel like you are at home with most of the comforts of Home.

Wonderful time inspite fo the rain,
We stayed Jan.6-16/10. Once again Monika and Axel welcomed us with open arms, just like family. They help us with everything from transport to and from the airport and with grocery shopping close by. The trip to the Swiss butcher is an adventure in itself. Sylvie,the housekeeper always puts the final touches on things, like extra pillows for me. Courtney is such a gentleman and checked in with us daily to see if we needed anything, He always stocks the fridge with Red Stripe, you just have to ask. Our tour this time was to Falmouth and Wakefield, I always feel so safe and pampered on the tours they offer. They are personalized, stop when you want and I know they all take such care when driving with us in the vehicle. All I need to do is relax and enjoy. The beach remains as beautiful as I remember and just a close walk away for that little bit of exercise. I love talking to the locals as we walk back and forth, occasionally stopping to bye some fresh produce. I did introduce friends to Axel this time as I would highly recommend you stay at the Rainbow apartment or villa, both are excellent value for the money if you aren't the AI type.

Unglaublich
Es war fur mich sehr schon. Das haus liegt sehr central. Nur 30 minuten von Ocho Rios und 15 minuten von St. Anns bay. Mit der local bus oder taxi ist es gut zu machen und nich tauer. Das prive strand is nur 15 minuten laufen und ist sehr schon. Du kannst eine stuhl leihen und nicht viele leute sind da. Und es ist wirklich eine bountyplatz. Den vermieter Monika ist super sie macht alles um ihre ferien unvergesslich zu machen. Du kannst auch mit dem pferden reiten oder eine tour buchen. Sie sind sehr nett und das haus ist gross mit eine grosse pool draussen das wirklich schon ist. Wenn sie hier hingehen hast du wirklich eine traumferien. Ich komme sicher zuruck.

Ideal zum jamaika-Kennenlernen!
Wir (Paar Mitte 30) waren im Juli 2009 für zwölf Tage hier.
Zur Wohnung:
- Größe und Ausstattung wie beschrieben, wenn auch nicht neu oder topmodern, aber alles funktional, in gutem Zustand und sehr sauber
- ideal ist die Küche mit Herd und Kühlschrank - so kann man sich selbst Essen im Supermarkt kaufen und zubereiten (jeden Tag Jerk hat man auch irgendwann über ...)
- der Garten ist wunderbar und der neue, wahnsinnnig große Pool ein Traum
Umfeld
- das Grundstück liegt in Salem am Rande von Runaway Bay
- zum Strand sind es zu Fuss rund 15 Minuten, wir haben ab dem zweiten Tag ein Taxi dorthin genommen (für 2 Pers. max 100 Jam. Dollar = 0,80 EUR); das war bei der Hitze deutlich angenehmer
- der Supermarkt und der Geldautomat sind in 15 Minuten Gehweg erreichbar
- der Privatstrand selbst ist wunderbar gelegen und war (im touristenarmen Juli) wirklich sehr privat; z.T. waren wir die einzigen Gäste ...; nur Montags muss man mit Krach rechnen, da werden Busladungen Touris an den Nachbarstrand gebracht und dort mit Partymusik und Animation bespaßt ...
- von der Ferienwohnung erreicht man diverse Ziele im Norden, Osten und im Landesinneren sehr gut, man sollte aber bei der Planung der Touren berücksichtigen, dass die Durchschnittsgeschwindgkeiten insbesondere auf den kleineren Straßen deutlich unter denen in Deutschland liegt (wenn man nicht so fährt wie mancher Einheimischer) zudem sind die Straßenverhätnisse teilweise gewöhnungsbedürftig
- unsere Ausflüge waren unvergesslich, dabei lernt man Land und Leute ideal kennen; das Fahren selbst ist weniger schlimm, als man es beim ersten Blick auf den jamaikanischen Fahrstil vermutet ...
Vermieter / Mitarbeiter
- Monika und Axel haben wir leider nicht persönlich gennen lernen können, da sie zu unserer Urlaubszeit in Deutschland waren; sie haben uns aber telefonisch sehr gut beraten, Tipps gegeben und die Gespräche waren sehr nett
- die Hausangestellte Sylvie kümmert sich um die Zimmer und die Anlage- und ist auch als Ansprechpartnerin bei Fragen (wie kommen wir von A nach B; wo gibt es einen Arzt ...) immer sehr hilsbereit gewesen - sie ist einfach nett und unkompliziert
Fazit
Die Villa ist eine gute Adresse um Jamaika - Land und Leute - richtig kennen zu lernen. In einer netten Atmosphäre und einer verkehrstechnisch günstigen Lage kann man Entspannung und Aktion gut verbinden.
Dies wird nicht unser letzter Besuch bei Monika und Axel gewesen sein!!!

Wie ein Urlaub bei alten Freunden
wir können nur unterstreichen, was in den anderen Beurteilungen bereits beschrieben wurde. Auch wir haben uns vom ersten Tag an wie alte Freunde von Monika und Axel gefühlt. Ob Geldwechsel, oder Abholung von verlorengegangenem Fluggepäck- immer war man mit Rat u. Tat zur Stelle. Auch, daß ständig ein PC zur Verfügung stand, wußten wir sehr zu schätzen. Jamaica kennenlernen
Wir (2 Kumpel, 27 und 28 Jahre) verbrachten unseren Urlaub vom 6.2.-20.2.09 bei Sunmountains in Runaway Bay.
Das Appartemt ist für zwei Personen wirklich groß und entspicht deutschem Standard. Man kann sich dank der gut ausgestatteten Küche bestens selbst versorgen. Der Strandabschnitt ist in 15min zu Fuß zu erreichen und man kann sich dort richtig "breit" machen.
Hervorstechend sind die Gastfreundlichkeit des ganzen Sunmountain-Teams. Sowohl für kleine Besorgungen als auch Bankproblemchen steht immer jemand zur Verfügung und kümmert sich um die Gäste. Und für einen netten Grillabend mit allen Gästen findet sich auch immer Zeit.
Generell ist Runaway Bay der optimale Standort um Jamaica kennenzulernen. Jedes Reiseziel ist bequem per Tagesausflug zu erreichen. Negril im Westen erreicht man in 2,5 Stunden und Port Antonio im Osten in 3,5 Stunden.
Wir waren mit Sicherheit nicht zum letzten Mal auf Jamaica und bei Sunmountains!

die Insel auf der Insel
Das Haus Sonnerberg in Salem, Runaway Bay ist eine Insel auf der Insel.
Mein (damals) Lebensgefährte und ich sind nach Jamaica gekommen um dort zu heiraten.
Natürlich hatten wir im Vorfeld weitgehenst alle Papiere etc. von Deutschland aus geklärt.
Dennoch konnten wir vor unserem Abflug nicht erfassen wie die Jamaikanische Mentalität wirklich leibt und lebt.
Wer sie nicht irgendwann erlebt hat, wird sie nicht wirklich nachvollziehen können!
Vermutlich wÃren wir nicht nur gescheitert, hätten einiges an Hürden zu nehmen gehabt und wären wohl bis heute
noch nicht verheiratet wenn die Eigentümer nicht gewesen wären.
Dank der Dame des Hauses und unseres Bestman hat letzendlich nicht nur alles super geklappt
sondern war zudem als ob wir mit engen Freunden im Urlaub gewesen wÀren.
Das sehr liebevoll gestaltete Grundstück und die Räumlichkeiten haben ihr Letztes dazu beigetragen,
dass sowohl mein Mann als auch ich im Grunde nicht nach Hause wollten.
Wir sind uns einig, keine Worte für das wohlige Befinden im Runaway Bay zu finden,
welche das Anwesen und die Besitzer angemessen beschreiben würden.
Als Nicht-Hotelfans ist man hier auf jeden Fall genau richtig.
Keine stumpfsinnige Animation, kein Ghettoarmband, keine "Thementage beim Essen" etc etc.
Dennoch Strand, Land, Leute und alles andere was das Leben auf Jamaika ausmacht.
Das ist die Villa S.!

Jamaika individuell in Touristengebiet
Vom 07.02. bis 07.03.2008 besuchten wir Jamaika. Wir hatten für die gesamte Zeit ein Auto zur Verfügung und erkundeten Jamaika von 3 Standorten aus. Einer dieser Standorte war dieses Apartment.
Das Apartment von Monika und Axel ist großzügig bemessen. Dies gilt für alle Bereiche (Wohn-/Schlafraum, die hiervon durch eine Theke abgetrennte Küche, die Terrasse und das Badezimmer). Die Ausstattung des Apartments ist gut.
Hervorzuheben ist der gute Kontakt, der sofort zu Monika und Axel sowie zu Silvie (der Haushälterin) zustande kam (zuvorkommend, aber nicht aufdringlich). Silvie reinigte täglich unser Apartment sehr zufriedenstellend. Da wir motorisiert waren, können wir über angebotene Exkursionen keine Bewertung abgeben (wegen Nichtnutzung).
Runaway Bay und Salem sind ein zusammengewachsenes Straßendorf, länger als 5 km. Das Hauptleben spielt sich auf der durchgehenden Straße (Highway A1) ab, die Geräusche sind im Apartment (ca. 30 bis 50m von der Straße entfernt) wahrzunehmen, aber erträglich.
Durch unsere Motorisierung lernten wir auch hier das Hinterland gut kennen (also das ursprüngliche Jamaika, abseits der Touristenhochburgen). Der Küstenbereich rund um Runaway Bay sprach uns dagegen weniger an, da viele Küstenbereiche durch Bauten (oft Hotelburgen) nicht zugänglich sind. Das Nachtleben haben wir nicht kennen gelernt, da dies nicht unseren Interessen entsprach.
Fazit: Das Apartment incl. Vermieter und Personal ist empfehlenswert. Möglichkeiten Jamaika abseits der Touristenpfade kennen zu lernen sind vorhanden (Angebote vom Vermieter, aber auch mit den vielen Taxis und Bussen auf dem nahen Highway, wenn man selbst nicht motorisiert ist). Bademöglichkeiten im Nahbereich sind in Touristenanlagen (bedingt an öffentlich zugänglichen Stellen) vorhanden

Jamaica No Problem
Im Juli 2005 verbrachten wir unsere Silberhochzeit mit drei erwachsenen Kindern und ihren Freunden in Runaway Bay. Jedes Paar hatte ein Apartment. Gemeinschaft wurde in der großen Küche, und dem angrenzenden Wohnraum gelebt. Wir entdeckten das Domizil im Internet. Auf Jamaica ließen wir uns noch einmal trauen, erlebten in 14 Tagen zwei Hurricanes (Sommerzeit), einen Radwechsel im Landesinneren, Gospels in Kirchen, Fischer und abenteuerliches Fischessen am Strand, spielten Bingo mit Jamaicanern in einem kleinen Dorf. Die Menschen sind lieb, das Quartier sehr angenehm. Ob mit einem gemieteten Auto, mit einem Route Taxi oder Courtney als Fahrer, mit dem Flugzeug von Axel oder beim Rafting auf dem Martha Brae River oder auf dem Rücken von Monikas Pferden: es gibt immer wieder etwas zu entdecken. Monikas und Axels Domizil ermöglicht einen sicheren und entspannten Urlaub abseits vom Main Stream Tourismus der internationalen Bettenburgen. Wer es dennoch luxeriös möchte, kann sich diverser Angebote der Vermieter als auch der umliegenden Hotels und Restaurants bedienen. Die Haushälterin Sylvie sorgt für das leibliche Wohl und stets aufgeräumte und geputzte Zimmer. Mit ihr kann man die Lebensmittel selbst einkaufen und den Speiseplan besprechen. Ob am Private Beach, der zu Fuß in einigen Minuten zu erreichen ist oder an anderen Stränden es ist ein Genuss zu schwimmen, zu schnorcheln oder einfach über das Meer zu schauen. 2007 und 2008 sind wir wieder dort gewesen, und es zieht uns immer wieder dorthin.

Traumurlaub mit Action UND Ruhe
Der einzige Urlaubsort an dem ich schon 2 mal war. Sonne, Karibik ein TOP geführtes Haus mit sehr freundlichem Familienanschluss. Die Wohnungen waren sehr sauber, das Personal sehr , die einheimische Küche (auf Wunsch) phanomenal. Abends Grillsessions, tagsüber auf Wunsch organisierte Ausflüge zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten der Trauminsel Jamaica. Die perfekte Möglichkeit das wahre Jamaica kennen zu lernen und sich ohne Gefahr unter den Einheimischen bewegen zu können. Gigantische Sonnenuntergänge, traumhafte Strände und idyllische Restaurants sowie Bars vermitteln das wahre Reggae Feeling welches durch Red Stripe Bier und Appleton Rum noch verstärkt wird.
Absolut Empfehlenswert.
