About this house rental
Tucked away in the best location at the most popular end of New Zealand's most popular surf beach. With ever-changing panoramic view of ocean, beach, and rugged coastline and a magic atmosphere. Beautiful summer or winter. An idyllic romantic retreat for 1-2, family getaway for up to 6 (with overflow sleeping up to 16, weather permitting), a picturesque and photogenic setting for events.
Just a few steps onto the long beach of soft fine sand, the best surfing spot straight in front, patrolled swimming a stone's throw away (weekends in winter), and wonderful bush walks through spectacular scenery to lookouts, waterfalls, swimming holes and other natural wonders. Entertain in style on the huge deck to the sound of the ocean; or just relax and watch the world go by.
The house is orientated to the weather: shaded by the gracious ancient Pohutukawa trees in summer.
Sheltered from almost all wind, facing the sun in winter, toast marshmallows and yourself in front of a roaring fire by the roaring ocean, after a dip, a surf, a hike through our safe native bush and over the cliffs, canyoning, exploring the beach, a dinner party, or a night out meeting the locals... with our selection of trashy novels, jigsaws and board games, on demand TV, or watch the brave surfers ,or if you are lucky, storms rage over the ocean. Peaceful, wild, energizing and inspiring, Piha is magic in winter.
With a well set up kitchen (including basic condiments), outdoor furniture, "BBQ with a view", air conditioning and open fireplace, fresh herbs and lemons in the garden most of the year (grounds sand, grass and mature native trees), books and games, you can arrive and enjoy.
"There is excellent casual dining and takeaways (including organic) at 4 bar/restaurants an easy stroll along the beach or up the road. The Piha store has delicious home baking and gourmet takeaways (as well as essentials you may have forgotten).
There is a funky art gallery with quality art to suit every budget, surf board manufacture and hire shops with fashions and souvenirs, a library and post office, and a native plant nursery. Surfing lessons available. There are social events throughout the year.
One of the early batches built in Piha, this is our family holiday home, not a hotel: unique, quirky, unfussy, a bit rustic.
We offer substantial weekly and monthly discounts: enter dates to view."
♦ COVID NOTES: Our house is available during level four lockdown, what better way to spend a lockdown than on holiday at the beach! If you want to book in advance, to stop anyone else from booking, then are unable or unwilling to use it due to lockdowns or any other reason, our cancellation policy applies to compensate us for the loss of other bookings you have blocked. If you are worried about cancelling, you can get travel insurance, or take your chances that our house will be available and book the day before. :)
♦ The basement is not included in the sleeping for 12. It is rough, can be damp in wet weather, and could flood in extreme weather conditions. It can be used in good weather for overflow sleeping or as an alternative to the futon couches in the living room. Use at your own risk, please do not complain about it!

Very comfortable and well equipped bach especially proven with wild weather we had with constant rain for 3 days, which still resulted a lovely stay at Piha on the Beach. Can only imagine what it’s like with good weather! We were lucky enough to have our dog with us but had to take for walks only on North Piha beach as Stu Piha right out front is a reserve. Only wish to note the upstairs bunk room is a cupboard off the main bedroom so best for smaller kids under 13yrs perhaps, not suited for older teens as no airflow and right next to parents - we had our teens sleep on the couch futons instead. Had a great time and enjoyed the property best we could with bad weather.

Beautiful well-equipped beachfront Bach
Fantastic hostess Vicki made our stay stress free. Amazing views of Piha from the deck. This wonderful well-equipped property was a fantastic base to attend a family wedding in the Piha area as lockdown restrictions eased. Thoroughly recommend this beautiful beachfront property with spectacular views.

The location was incredible, the accomdation was dated, the beds were uncomfortable & limited space.
We were a party of 4 adults & 4 children. 3 pullout sofa sleepers in the lounge & limited space gave very little privacy & were heavy & cumbersome to make up daily. Thr size of the 3 other bedrooms are small & very dark. I loved the location, but felt the property was overpriced for the dated & lack of facilities. My grandchildren were so dissapointed that the hammock was not available for our stay.

Great Spot
Comfortable home with well equipped kitchen and good quality bedding…. but best part was wonderful proximity to (and view of) beach……and large sunny deck, shaded by pohuakawas in afternoon.

BEST HOUSE ON THE STREET
My family enjoyed ever moment of our stay from the time we step our foot onto the property. We were all very emotional when it was time to leave so we sure took in as much sea breeze from the deck and left great memories behind. We surely will be back. Thank you so much Vicky.

Piha beachfront
Fantastic spot, really can't get much closer to the beach. Property is half fenced but if you have dogs who like to explore (-escape) it is possible for them to do so. Vicki was very responsive and helpful.

AMAZING SPOT
I really couldn't have picked a better spot to celebrate my 50th birthday. Everyone, including our kids, were blown away by the views and the property's proximity to the beach. The host was very friendly and easy to deal with. The place was immaculate and clean. The beds were comfortable and the water pressure from the double head shower was spot-on.
We will definitely be back and I'm sure mates will book this place some time as well.
Highly recommend this place to anyone whose into spectacular views, surfing or just chilling and taking time out .
Wicked stay!

Piha Perfection
Lovely spot! Private. Beautifully presented property. Well set up and organised for a stay. Can’t beat the west coast surf for watching, and the deck is a fantastic spot to do just that.

This beautiful property is right on Piha beach with a walking trail to the left. Equally fabulous is the owner Vicki who takes great care of the property. The view is fantastic, the deck invites you to lounge in the shadows of the trees or enjoy the sun. The many large folding doors invite you to capture ocean breezes and connect the house to the beach.
Vicki explained all the amenities and we made use of many. The heat pump took what little chill there was right out of the night and we all slept excellently. There also is a rustic fireplace and fuel nearby.
The house is full of toys, both for great days on the beach as well as rainy days inside. My son longed to learn the boogie board and the surfing conditions in Piha had the surfing community out in the water from before dawn to dusk. We had a fabulous time on the beach and the many trails accessible from the house.
The house features the best stocked kitchen I’ve run across in a rental property. Everything you need to cook is there. Though Piha does have a small general store, I’d stock up on necessities before making the journey down to Piha.
Locally, there are multiple dining options, some of which are seasonal (i.e. expect the most options come the Kiwi summer). We had a great breakfast at the cafe (15 min walk) and a great dinner at the local RSA (12 minutes up the hill or a 2 minute drive).
As busy as Piha gets, the on site parking ensures that your car always has a place. Fabulous!

Comfort right by the beach
We stayed just one night here, and found it comfortable and all as described - host was very welcoming and even prepared a fire for our arrival. Right next to the sand, with beautiful views. Many thanks.

Brilliant Beach Bach
We enjoyed our stay at Vicki's place. The view was fabulous. Loved seeing the Piha Lion looking majestically out to sea. Really appreciated having Vicki light the fire for us on a damp, windy afternoon - this really made us feel welcome and relaxed. It was the perfect place for our team retreat.

Location and view is Amazing..
We came from the East Coast, Tauranga for something a little different. The rawness of Piha is something that I really like and where Vicki’s property is situated is pretty magical. My son loves to surf so being straight across from the beach is perfect. The house is simple but gives you an awesome Kiwiana feel and accommodates a family well. Great huge deck to relax on and enjoy the views at different times of the day. We found the host Vicki really easy to deal with, all in all an awesome few days!

Had an awesome stay! Amazing relaxing escape!
Amazing get away, we did a whole day bbq with a view of the beach with a choice between shade from the native trees or the great beach sun. We did great beach walks and lookout walks just round the corner. Perfect mixture of privacy with a bit of flashiness relaxing on the beach front with family and friends. Only there for a day but definitely planning on another stay later on in the summer. Thanks vicki!

Magic Place
I woke up with the sound of birds after sleeping with the quiet roar of the sea. Eggs benedict al fresco with lemons from the tree and dill from the garden. What a view. Afternoon tea on the soft sand dune. Cocktails on the deck. The best ever Fish and chips at the RSA. Love this place and will come for a longer stay.
