My daughter and I had the pleasure of staying at Casa Zoe, aka The Carriage House for a mother/daughter getaway.
Check in process was seamless. Host was cobra quick in responding to all questions both before and during our stay. Also, he recommended nearby restaurants and we will both be eternally grateful for his recommendation of soft shell crab! So very good!
We loved the property! It is indeed an authentic carriage house that has been renovated so that it both charming and comfortable. Upon entering , you feel the history and can imagine “how things were”. When I research my VRBO’s I read EVERY review. One person had mentioned that the floor boards had gaps. To me that elevates this place. It was a carriage house and the upstairs was probably used for storing feed. Way cool! If you want a cookie cutter hotel there are plenty in Charleston!
Parking is easy, the spot it right there. It is quiet, yet easy walking distance to top attractions. I walked to the Battery every morning,
We particularly loved the outdoor courtyard for wine and snacks in the evening. A great place to relax, and once again very private.
I have been to Charleston about a dozen times and this was, by far, my favorite place to stay! My daughter declared she wanted to live there. Will definitely be back!

The most charming house! From the moment we stepped through the door, we were enveloped in a sense of comfort and tranquility that truly made our vacation memorable.
The atmosphere that was created here is nothing short of beautiful. Every detail, from the elegant decor to the cozy furnishings, contributed to an ambiance that felt both luxurious and inviting. Whether we were relaxing in the living room or enjoying a meal in the well-appointed kitchen, we couldn't help but feel right at home.
Thank you for providing such a wonderful retreat for our time in Charleston. We leave with cherished memories and a deep appreciation for your hospitality. We hope to have the opportunity to return someday soon.

Every aspect of this property is amazing. It’s hard to say if the property (design, comfort, overall vibe) is the main attraction or the location (beautiful neighborhood, blocks away from the heart of the city). We truly fell in love. I will ALWAYS come back here- worth every penny.

I’m reluctant to review this property as I would love to keep it all to myself! This carriage house is lovely. Quiet. Beautiful neighborhood. Historic. I will definitely be back.

Our family enjoyed the carriage house very much - the living area was comfortable and a gracious space to be together. The beds were comfortable and the location was just a short walk to anywhere in Charleston. We would definitely love to come stay again!

My mother and I stayed in the carriage house with my daughters (13,11) over the winter break. The house is so charming and well appointed, providing everything we needed for an enjoyable stay in Charleston. We all agreed that the beds were very comfortable and the garden area was so beautiful to look out onto. Would absolutely stay here again on a return trip!

I spent 30 minutes looking around the property and adjoining property to find the mailbox where the key was to be located as per our check-in instructions. Called person I was supposed to contact if an issue and received a text back that they could not talk. Reached out to the other POC and got a delayed response as she later informed she was picking up children from camp. In the interim, tried the back doors and they were unlocked and found a key inside on the kitchen table. There was no mailbox as instructions indicated. The cabinets in the kitchen do not close all the way and we bumped are heads on a couple of occasions. Bathroom sink cold water handle leaked and the floors upstairs had enough space you could see through to the main floor. Additionally, I texted to inquire about coffee accessories prior to arrival and was informed the property had all that was needed to make coffee. However, we were disappointed to find there was only one coffee filter for a 3 day rental and barely enough coffee beans. We had to make an unplanned trip to the grocery store.
Normally, I do not write a review, but when we checked out and I advised we would be leaving unlocked with key on the table as we found it, no one even had the courtesy to respond nor address the issues with check in

Amazing!
Our stay at Gibbon House was incredible. The property, including the inside and outside of the home, was beautiful, clean, and very peaceful. The location is perfect and only a 10-15 minute walk to King Street. Charleston is a wonderful city and Gibbon House was the perfect place for us to stay on our honeymoon. Furthermore, all of the kitchenware was very high quality, and there were many amenities included. Attention to the little details, such as organic and all-natural oils and soaps were very much appreciated. Thank you so much for everything - We will definitely be coming back!

Beautiful Stay/update for Check-In
This was a charming carriage home and a unique stay. All that filled the home was of high quality along with interesting books. Loved all the textures and the interior decor.
The check-in instructions/time should be updated. In one place it says the check-in time is 4pm and another place says 3pm. Also, the check-in instructions say to retrieve the key from the mailbox, but this specific property does not even have a mailbox, and I had to contact the property manager to realize it simply stays unlocked (though we initially tried opening the door; the knob just sticks a bit.) Needless to say, we arrived at 3pm to see if we could check-in, couldn’t, then had to walk around for an hour to realize we could have wiggled the knob this way and that in order to have gotten in earlier. Wasn’t a big deal, though!
All restaurants were a 15-25min. walk, which is scenic and perfect!

Location good for access to historic district. Easy and quick access to interstates. Parking limited to smaller vehicles, on site and adjacent to residence. Pet friendly but recommend you leave fido at home. Beautiful entrance garden, plenty of privacy.

The Perfect Charleston Stay
Tucked behind one of the cities grand old dames is this elegant. brick carriage house. Enter through the a garden, with boxwood knots in the center and camellias on the borders. Everything you need for your stay is there, including laundry soap, coffee, oil, and spices. Comfortable modern furnishings contrast with the brick main walls and the bead board detail. The decor is a wonderful mix of modern and antique with area rugs complementing the rustic wood floors.
It was a memorable delight staying here.

Gorgeous carriage house apartment
Beautifully restored and decorated. A delight to stay in. There isn't much in the way of restaurants or stores nearby, though neighborhood is lovely to walk around. I especially loved the big thirsty bath towels! Be aware the stairs don't have a hand rail, which might be a problem for some.

Happy in Harleston
It’s a bit scary to take a rental for 17 days. What if you get it wrong? Well, we got it right. The carriage house is as advertised. It’s stylish, comfortable and just the spot you hope for. For us, and out dog, it was ideal in every regard. It only has one full bath and it might get a bit cozy for more than two adults for more than a few days.
We have no complaints and will have the happiest of memories.

Eloquent Charleston Stay
The carriage house really is as beautiful as it looks. Everything was beautifully restored and my husband, baby and I had such a wonderful time. While he was here for business, me and the baby took strolls into downtown to get coffee and shop. Everything was steps away. The courtyard is wonderful for sitting. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. There is no microwave, but that wasn’t a problem for us. The beds were luxurious, we slept very well. It felt very private, our own little place in downtown Charleston. Stevenson was a wonderful host.

The Gibbon house has unique charm.
Staying in the Gibbon house made the trip to Charleston that much more enjoyable. It fits in perfectly with the historic character of the city.
This was our first visit to Charleston and we wanted to see as much of the city as possible, but some of our favorite time there was spent just relaxing in this house and out in the courtyard.

Too good to be true
The house was nice, unique with dashes of luxury. But for us, that hid what it was. One bed room had a pest problem, several wall switches did not work, kitchen on/off valve leaked, due to lack of curtians we got to see the garbage people early on two mornings, the openess of the house is not a desireable feature since surrounding houses & their windows are within 30 ft of view. Several coffee cups had substance in them & maintenance people arrived early one morning startling us with their work performance.

Unique lodging.
Very unique and interesting accommodations. Close enough to walk (within a mile or so) of everything in downtown and the battery.

Amazing property in an incredible city. The carriage house is a hidden gem and feels like you are staying in historical and sacred place. The hosts were so easy to talk to and very knowledgable about things to do near the house and around the city. We stay in a lot of vacation rentals while traveling and this has been our favorite.

Charleston Charm
Adorable carriage house. Good location, mostly walked to things. Cozy atmosphere. We didn't want to leave. The only bummer this time of year is not being able to sit in the beautiful courtyard garden because of mosquitoes. Love it!

Wonderful stay!
We enjoyed our stay at Gibbon's house. The beauty of the carriage house and grounds are memorable. The accommodations worked well for our family of two adults and two teens. The location was good, although ~25 minute walk to King Street restaurants. It was fine for our family but something to keep in mind if planning to walk to/from main areas. Gibbons House definitely added a positive memory to our first trip to Charleston.

You will love Sierra!
What an amazing property! Nestled in behind a glorious Charleston home sits a shaded brick carriage house which is charming. The location in Harleston Village is a short walk from pretty much everywhere in the city you might want to go. A car really isn’t needed but there is an off street parking spot if you plan to drive. The house itself is perfect for 1 or 2 couples. Comfortable king size beds, ceiling fans and all the amenities needed for making a meal at home when you don’t think you can eat another bite of the excellent Charleston food scene. The host was very accommodating and shared tons of insight into the Charleston highlights and history. His dog, Sierra, is a sweetie and she came by most mornings to see if we were up for a throw or two of her stuffed animal. There is a small garden for sipping your evening wine among the trees. Wonderful place and we had a fabulous time such that we will definitely be back.

Perfect Charleston rental
We stayed in the Carriage House the weekend of our wedding and it could not have been more perfect. The property is simply incredible and is exactly as the photos describe. Stevenson was an exemplary host and we loved his dog Sierra visiting us! It was so cool to stay in this piece of history. It’s incredibly well restored.

Charming and delightful spot
I stayed in the carriage house for a month in February and March. It’s absolutely charming and so cozy. The location is convenient and perfect for exploring Charleston by foot or bicycle. Stevenson and his girlfriend were the most gracious and wonderful hosts. I could have stayed there forever.
