About this cabin rental
Looking for a rare experience? Would you like to stay the night (or more) in a cabin that was the locale for the indie, award-winning, horror flick, "Frazier Park Recut"? Well, you can.
If you look at the thumbnail picture, you can see that the production company put out this account on YT (titles not allowed here). The narrator walks through the cabin (THIS cabin) and gives his impressions about how it served as a horror movie setting. Interested? I suggest you listen to it.
You can also stream the film on Amazon Prime (on our ROKU, logging in to your own Prime account).
Although the cabin has been renovated since the making of this film, the house's soul remains the same.
Anya’s Cottages
___________
NEW YEAR 2024 SPECIAL
No pet fee (for one pet) for a stay anytime during the month of January. Woof woof!
Please note: Holiday times require a 2 or 3 night minimum stay. Please inquire of host. And, no checkout on Thanksgiving Day!!
Look at the radiant couple in the last of the photos! They just recently got married at the cabin and said their day was perfect. We love that!
Winter is a wonderland in Pine Mountain Club!
Additional Amenities: We own the property adjacent to the cabin, a park-like space available to our guests! It contains a horseshoe pit, horseshoes included; a rock pond with a waterfall (filled in the spring); a picnic table; many rustic and well-used seating areas and benches; three covered benches for reading or relaxation; a wishing well; a windmill; walking paths; and decorative garden art. We hope our guests enjoy this new property and new feature of Anya's Cottages.
Our cabin has been used by more than one film crew and for a number of club retreats. It borders the protected national forest and has a soothing, seasonal stream on the property. It is private and tucked in tall pines but is walking distance to the village where you can shop for groceries, browse for antiques, go to the local coffeehouse, dine, and listen to local music.
The cabin has undergone a deep cleaning and an attractive renovation, which includes new TV with Roku; spa tile in the main bathroom; a rain shower head; wood flooring up and downstairs; a full-sized stove, oven, and new hood; programmable coffeemaker; vacuum cleaner, mop, and broom; some new furniture and decorations; new glasses and pot and pan set; small coffee grinder; DVD player and DVD's; log bed for the second bedroom (now in addition to the one in the master bedroom); IKEA twin bed and mattresses; some new pillows--both down and hypo-allergenic; and, new fixtures in the downstairs bath; new paint throughout, new sheets, pillowcases, comforters, and towels. All carpets are brand new! But, most importantly: we have hooked up the new propane heater! And, what a difference it makes. Having gas heat in the bedroom/main bath area keeps you more toasty than most of the cabins do which tend to have electric heaters here in PMC. And, upstairs, the wood stove keeps you as warm as you'd like! There are two large ceiling fans in the upstairs living area and plenty of ventilation.
This 1200+ square foot, two-story cabin has two bedrooms (one with a queen-sized log bed and a twin, the other with a full-sized log bed and a twin); a fold-out bed; a big couch; one-and-one-half baths; is paneled in knotty pine throughout and has hardwood floors up and downstairs; and filled with authentic vintage mountain furnishings, antiques, and cozy quilts. It also has several decks where you can relax in pure solitude and privacy and enjoy the tranquil scenery. And, if you simply can't leave all of civilization behind, the cabin comes equipped with free high-speed, broadband wireless Internet access (Wifi).
Be sure to visit Fern's Lake which is half a block away. Kids, bring your fishing poles (barbless catch and release)! In winter, you can sled just steps behind the property.
The clubhouse in the village offers many activities and amenities, including golf, an outdoor pool (open from Memorial Day to October), a bistro, and a recreation room for the children. Mount Abel (Cerro Noroeste) and Mount Pinos (over 8800 feet) are nearby. Pine Mountain Club also offers a number of festivals throughout the year. Guests will be allowed the use of complementary passes. They must be returned to the wood holder on the green desk in the downstairs hall.
GUESTS WILL BE CHARGED $100 (unfortunately, that is not a typo) FOR EACH MISSING POOL PASS (the white magnetic card). There is no exception. The HOA has changed its policy. Those are the fees that owners will be charged for each missing pool pass. So, please be extra careful about that so that you won’t be charged.
The cabin sits at 5400 feet, so come and enjoy the snow in the winter, the bright blue skies and sunshine in the spring and summer, and the colors in autumn. You will not be disappointed.

Great host, communication was perfect. Cabin has great decks, next to a flowing stream. Really quiet and walking distance to village!
8.0 / 10.0
Beautiful area, lots of great trails and close to nature. The cabin itself was very homely and welcoming. Lots of board games and group games provided for families or groups of friends.
Cons:
Wi-Fi was spotty and would go out quite frequently throughout the day/night. Even after we reset the router multiple times. We couldn't get a sustained connection enough to use the TV.
Only Verizon has service here. It was difficult getting service while on the trails.
The power couldnt support two heaters at the same time, even if they weren't plugged into the inbetween wall as instructed by the host.
However, the blankets and comfortors provided were very warm and kept you warm even without the heaters.
The plumbing was a little old. The reservoir pump on the 1st floor toilet wouldnt pump water in until you manually gave it a little push.
The hot water may not be warm enough for some people.
All in all, it was a nice place.

We very much enjoyed our stay. It is an older cabin and the cleaning could have been a bit more thourough but otherwise the space and location were wonderful. We loved the host. She was very responsive and communicative ♥️

We booked a weekend getaway with the expectation of having air conditioning, as it was mentioned in several areas of the post. However, upon arrival, we discovered that there was no AC and the house was dirty. We reached out to the host, who initially claimed that it was clearly stated there was no AC, but later admitted her mistake. She offered pizza as compensation, but we requested a refund for the nights we stayed due to the false advertising and uncomfortable conditions. The host stopped responding until we informed her of our departure. We found her professionalism and transparency to be lacking. We contacted VRBO for compensation, which resulted in a threatening email from the host, claiming that I acted unethically and that she, being a lawyer, would take action. We advise caution when considering this host, especially if issues arise.

A quintessential California mountain cabin. Beautiful views. Cozy and private. The cabin sits just above a creek separating the property from the open wilderness and half a mile from a general store that sells snow chains and Napa Cabernet. The host was very generous and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Would definitely recommend!

Unclean Uncoordinated
When we arrived a little early, just to orient to Pine Mountain Club, there was a moving van at the property. The previous occupant was still packing things out. They had filmed a movie there. We came back at 3:30, after our hike and an hour and a half after check-in time, The place was a disaster. All dirty towels, trash, unmade beds. I called the owner and left a message. About 20 minutes later, a cleaning crew arrived and it took them two hours to clean up the mess. The owner gave us no discount. Terrible, irresponsible owner!

Great Cabin
We really enjoyed this cabin in the mountains. Great deck, instructions from the host, and woodsy feel, with our own little patch of snow in an otherwise snowless winter.

Christmas Experience
I come up to this cabin and every year in December. It’s the perfect setting for baking, watching Christmas movies, and just relaxing by the wood burning stove.

Quaint little Thanksgiving/Xmas getaway.
Cute little log cottage in the woods. The kids loved it. Well stocked with games and trinkets for the kids to play with/look at. Beds were comfortable. Easy to adjust room temperature. Loved the pot belly stove. Nice seeing the stars at night. Walking distance to pond.

Cute VERY Rustic Cabin
Let's start with the positive. A short walk to Fern Lake (more like a pond, but pretty), beautiful area. Don't go on Tuesday or Wednesday as most restaurants (4 of the 5) are closed. A/C does not reach upstairs common area, sliding doors difficult to close and lock, loud sagging floors upstairs, sheets felt like sandpaper (old flannel in Summer?), 1st floor balcony nothing to sit on. This wasn't the owners fault, but all of Wednesday there was a large truck sucking up rocks and gravel across the street. No peace and quiet, which was why we went, so we left a day early. BTW we saw similar complaints in the guest book from 4 years ago, so the owner doesn't care.

Rustic Cabin
Pros:
Very close to Ferns Lake, which is a huge bonus with kids.
Dog friendly
2 decks and plenty of outside space
1 bathroom upstairs, 1 down
Cons
Cabin is rustic- which is fine if that's what you're looking for. It could benefit greatly from some basic updating. New mattresses and bedding would be a huge improvement.
The stairs are very narrow and steep, so depending on your traveling companions, this may pose a challenge. My mom and older dog struggled a bit.
No patio furniture on below deck. It would have been nice to relax in this shaded area in the heat of the day, but there was no chairs.
Owner was very responsive and helpful. Check in and out were easy.

Excellent mountain cabin
The cabin was cozy and very rustic. Amazing mountain scenery surrounds the cabin the sky fills with bright stars as soon as the sun goes down. Somewhat secluded location with only a short drive to nearby store and a lake within walking distance.

After receiving a reservation confirmation, we were advised by the owner that she would respond prior to our check in date with information on the address, directions, and so on. The day before were were due to arrive, I sent a request to her asking for the information because we would be on the road most of the check in day. We sent another request on the check in date. We waited for a reply and receiving none by 5:20pm on the check in day, finally secured a room at a local hotel. My suggestion is to avoid this property. Even with a confirmed confirmation you have no guarantee that when you get there the property will even exist.

The Cabin is in a nice quiet neighborhood, walking distance to the Lake. It was very comfortable, had a well stocked kitchen, and a great heater downstairs. The Wi Fi and new TV worked great! I enjoyed my stay here and would come back. As far as cleanliness, the house could of used some more cleaning, the upstairs was full of dog hair, it needed to be vacuumed( I would of vacuumed if there was a vacuum I could of used.) It did not appear that the floors were cleaned at all. The plastic shower curtain is very dirty and needs to be cleaned. The bed I slept in did not have a mattress cover on it. Other than some cleaning issues which can easily be remedied I would recommend the cabin.

Great for the family
Had a great time at this house. It was a bit smaller than i pictured but the location is perfect. The 2 back decks are also a great feature. Only con is all the pet hair that was on the upstairs living room carpet. Overall it is a great house and would consider returning.

Pine Mountain Club is a hidden gem of a retreat. It’s such a beautiful place to come and enjoy the outdoors. The cabin on the other hand was a disappointment. Most of all the bothersome issues are with the upstairs. The downstairs bedrooms and bath room are just okay. The downstairs bathroom shower was quite gross. The shower curtain rod is being held up by a wash cloth and the tub and hardware is covered with hard waster deposits. We didn’t feel comfortable using it. Upstairs in the main living kitchen area was so disappointing. Although we can see the intentions of creating a cozy environment, it’s very cluttered and looks and feels as cluttered as it does in the photos. Couch is completely worn out and there’s pillows supporting the cushions from underneath and has an unpleasant odor. The main arm chair is really dirty and off putting. Both to gross and uncomfortable to sit in. Several dishes were dirty and needed to washed before use. When we contacted the owner giving her our feedback, she responded quickly and was very kind letting us know that she appreciated our comments and that she takes all her guests feedback into consideration; however when we looked at previous reviews, we read that they’re several other guests that brought up these issues dating back to 2017. The owner is very nice, but we will be staying in another cabin when we return.

Mountain getaway
We loved the cabin. There were so many small details and items that we could tell were hand-picked for the space. The only drawback was that there was an eight hours long scheduled power outage that we were not told about prior to our stay. This did cause a bit of an inconvenience as we couldn't cook on the electric stove, nor could we us the television or any other electric appliances. We made the best of it, ate snacks and cold food, played games, took a walk, etc, and it turned out okay. But we would like to have known ahead of time so that we could plan accordingly. We didn't really find a path to the lake, but walked on the road instead, which was fine, but the listing implies a path, which there was not. Also the park next to the cabin is lovely, it just needed to be cleaned up a bit. Overall, we had a wonderful, relaxing stay. There were lots of games and puzzles, which we enjoyed very much, and the overall cabin is very charming. Our fur babies enjoyed it as well, and we are very thankful that the cabin is pet friendly.

Just ok
Quiet clean neighborhood. Nice lake where you can fish and walk around. Close walk to the mall where a little live concert was going on delicious pizza place ... the cabin was cluttered with many artifacts, many broken furniture, broken dishes, dirty rugs. Patio was dusty, dirty chairs had to wipe to sit on.

Great overnight stay!
We had a great time here! Just what we were looking for. Nice location - very peaceful and friendly neighborhood. Easily walkable to the lake and village areas. One thing to be aware of is that the stairs inside are VERY steep! We have an older dog who wasn't able to navigate them, so we used the outside stairs for her which worked fine. The kitchen was perfectly appointed, we made a pizza for dinner and coffee in the morning. The wifi was fast enough for a Zoom meeting! Hope to be back!
