This recently renovated 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage is a part of Oceanside's history. Built in 1925, the house has a retro feel with mid-century decor and unique charm. There is not another house like it!
Enjoy all the comforts of home, including a stocked kitchen and open backyard with a patio, barbeque, fire pit, and private, enclosed space to bring the family pet! The backyard provides a great space for entertaining and hanging out. This property is ideal for small groups or families looking to enjoy local sights and activities with a comfortable home to relax in after long days in the sun.
The property is located in the heart of downtown. The location is ideal for those traveling without a car. We are walking distance to shopping, movies, restaurants, bike trails, parks, beaches, pier, harbor, library, cafes, bars, clubs, etc, all within blocks. Oceanside is a small, lively city with great local events like the weekly Sunset Market, farmer's markets, concerts, monthly Art Walk, parades, and triathlons. It is also centrally located for quick access to Legoland, Disneyland, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, etc.
The house has a keypad code entry so we don't have to worry about exchanging keys. Once the rental agreement is received and the house is reserved, we will send the door code. Upon accessing the property, you'll have the house/yard to yourself! We live close by, so if there are any questions or concerns, we are right around the corner.
There is so much going on in Oceanside! We LOVE the weekly Sunset Markets (Thursday evenings) and Farmer's Markets (Thursday morning). Oceanside is eclectic and diverse with a lot of history, and the many activities going on around Oceanside represent that diversity. From plays at local theaters, parades, outdoor concerts, movie theaters, variety of local craft breweries, and excellent dining, there is something for everyone here. And of course, you can't beat being able to walk to the beach! Want good people watching? Throw on your tennis shoes and walk the pier at dusk, grab a milkshake at Ruby's diner, and check out the scene.
We are located just a few blocks from the Oceanside transit center, with train service to the north/south/east (Old Town, Gaslamp/downtown, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Los Angeles, etc). We are also right off the I-5 and I-76, so theme parks like Legoland, Disneyland, Sea World, Wild Animal Park, etc, are a quick drive away.
The master bedroom is on the bottom floor with attached full bath. Two bedrooms are located on the second story, one with a full bed, vanity, and dresser. The other bedroom is ideal for kids, with two twin trundle beds, so it sleeps up to four people (trundle can be raised to make a full size bed, if desired). The third bedroom also includes dresser, vanity, and small balcony with view of the ocean. The second full bathroom is located on the second story. It was added to the home a few years ago, so it includes new floors, fixtures, and plumbing. Living room couch pulls out easily into a full bed. Kids loft includes two fold out futon cushions to sleep extra people. Great for kids.

We enjoyed our stay. The host was very easy to get in touch with, house was great for catching with friends: cooking/grilling, hanging out by the firepit. Quirky and clean. Great location, easy to walk everywhere. Would stay there again!

We loved this place and will definitely be back! Pete was quick to answer a question we had. Lots of comfortable beds and plenty of space to spread out with our group of six adults. The back yard was fabulous, and the location was perfect for us.

We had so much fun at this vacation house. A 15 minute walk to the beach. About 15 minutes to the train too. We did not even have a car. If we needed a car (rarely) we took a lyft. There is a Neighborhood Walmart within 15 min walking distance, and we did most of our grocery shopping there. It is in the midst of town, so there are tons of shops very close. Great ice cream. We had tweens staying with us and they took over the loft. I heard them talking to their dad about what a great room it was for kids. There are three beach cruisers, one with flat tires, but the other two we took out every day. There is a beautiful flat bike ride along the beach, which I did many times. The kitchen is well stocked, easy to use, and very fun with the garage door that opens out to the patio. We enjoyed fires in the fire pit. We cooked out on the grill. We even enjoyed the "atmospheric river" as it was exciting to see the rough ocean from the pier. The library is beautiful and a block away. We caught the weekly farmers market in front of the library. The property manager is very friendly and responsive. I recommend this place.

Had a great time, if back in the future, this is our go to home!

The house was fantastic!! It was very clean and spacious. The “garage window” that opens in the kitchen is one of the coolest features we have ever seen in a rental unit. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were a great size. I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling with friends and family as it gives you lots of space, it is close to lots of great businesses (bars and restaurants), and it is a pretty short walk to the beach (less than 15 minutes).

This fab house is perfectly located to enjoy the beach, shopping, fun dining and walking to the movies. Wonderful surfing, walking, thrift stores and a used book store are all close by. AND, best of all, I walked to the train station to take a train to Los Angels to visit art museums. There is also and wonderful Oceanside Art Museum. The kitchen was the best part of the house. It is big enough for all to help with food prep and the AMAZINGLY fun roll up window brought the outdoors in making food prep a spectator sport for those not on KP duty! Two thumbs up with a big smile! : )

We stayed here for the Oceanside Ironman and it couldn’t have been a better location. Such a cute house, great backyard and plenty of space inside. We would definitely stay here again!

First off, let me say that this property says there is a "Minimum 1-day vacancy between guest stays". I took this right from their listing, but this is not true. I contacted the owner to see if I can check in early, as my flight was changed. I got no reply. A week later, I contacted again and also asked for checking-in instructions, since we would be checking in the next day. She gave the instructions and also said "Check-in is anytime after 4 PM. I have people checking out that same day at 11 am so most likely we will need until 4:00 to have the house cleaned and ready for you. If it looks like we will finish up early I will message you and let you know." This is copied and pasted from her reply to me. That's a little strange that someone is checking out the day I am checking in since the listing says otherwise. I let this go, as I needed a place for me and my family to stay over the weekend.
We arrived to the house at 4:22 pm. I was in SHOCK when I walked in. The pictures looked NOTHING like the actual property. Every room/bathroom needs a total upgrade, including the kitchen that says it was recently remodeled. That's hard to believe as every appliance had broken pieces. Even the lamp in the living room was torn to shreds. Instead of buying new pillows they put two flat pillows in one pillowcase and thought we wouldn't notice? Every piece of furniture was old, damaged, and hanging by its last thread. The bathroom doesn't have a vent, but an actual fan inside. The "loft" addition is NOT for young children as it states in the listing. You have to crawl through a hole in the wall to get inside and its too small to stand unless you are 3 feet tall or shorter. You can't get in without a step stool. One look away for a second and my 4 year old could easily fly over the tiny banister pictured.
Luckily, we did not need to use the appliances in the kitchen often as they were not cleaned inside. If our stay was longer, I would have contacted the property manager to come clean the place thoroughly. But we spent most of our days at amusement parks that provided food.
I cannot comment on the backyard or laundry room, as we did not use that area for any of our stay.
This property definitely has potential. It has enough rooms for a family or two to stay, 10 min walk to the beach/pier, 5 min walk to beautiful restaurants, parking was easy to find on the same street as the home. But they need to put money in to upgrade, I wouldn't stay again.

We booked this stay for family members for our daughter's wedding at Botanica. The location was perfect, and in walking distance to the hotel where the bridal party stayed. We enjoyed a night at Stone Brewery which was a short walk. The place itself was very nice and the backyard was great for entertaining. We left behind a speaker, and the hosts graciously offered to mail it to us. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Keep in mind that this is an older home, a very cute older home at that. It is located very close to town, the pier and beach. All were within a 10 minute walk.
This home doesn’t not have central air and there are fans provided throughout the home, but were not very clean. The home does have lots of windows to open to allow good air flow throughout. However, some of these windows don’t have screens.
The kitchen is very spacious with practically everything you need. However, I did have to go buy a basic spatula to flip eggs in the am.
The patio is great for entertaining. However, the propane tank was empty and had to contact the property manager and owner to get it filled. Which they did respond promptly and refilled it within 1.5hrs.
There are big screen TVs but I did have to buy batteries for the remotes because the batteries provided were dead in 2 different remotes.
Last but Not Least… the beds were Horrible! One piece of advice for this owner is to invest in some better mattresses. Never mind all the other inconveniences that occurred, had the mattresses been decent it wouldn’t have mattered.

My family of four enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home in Oceanside! All the conveniences of home! If you ever needed anything, the property manager promptly helped us! Two queen beds and two twin beds served us perfectly and our kids are teenagers. The beach bikes were a bonus for sure! Many rides down to the ocean and shops! Only downfall really were the beds as they could use new mattresses.

This place is a great space overall for families with children and your family pet. The kitchen and backyard were the highlights and where we spent most of our time. The kids nook is also a great addition and our girls loved it. Note that there is no air conditioning if traveling during warm months (but there are fans to cool each room) and skylights in one of the upstairs bedrooms do not have blinds so the light comes in early in the morning. There are lots of beach extras available which were appreciated. We did encounter some ants in different areas of the house, but remedies were provided (although be careful with pets around these or remove them off the ground as they were not pet friendly). We had two cars and we were able to find parking for the entirety of the trip and it is about a 10 min walk to the beach. The house was clean overall and had most amenities you would need for kitchen and laundry use.

The house was so amazing and we loved it a lot! The location was absolutely perfect, we were able to walk to restaurants in the area, and walk down to the beach and pier easily! The house was perfect for a large group!

The location was perfect. We flew into LAX, took the flyaway bus to Union station and road the train to Oceanside. Easy walk to the house. No rental car needed and no traffic/parking to worry about. Everything we needed was in walking distance- even for little legs. The hosts were very responsive and timely. The property also had character without being stodgy. It was nicely outfitted with all the necessary supplies. We would definitely stay again!

We stayed in September with our teenage boys and some of their friends came for the weekend. There was plenty of room for all of us and a short walk to the beach and restaurants. The back yard was much bigger than the pictures show and the loft was great. Rachel was a pleasure to work with.

Our Family had a wonderful time -- never drove anywhere. super easy to walk and ride bikes everywhere we wanted to go. It was so nice to have the extra bikes available. The house is so cute! We did laugh about the loft - it is definitely not for full sized adults. Lots of Linens, Beds comfortable, kitchen is super nice. Backyard was perfect. only suggestion is the number of glasses & wine (we went to the store to get plastic cups for drinks) and maybe dry goods such as sugar and flour. Anyway - Looking forward to a future stay in OceansideThanks Tammy

This was our first time using VRBO and it was a success! We live in L.A., so we got a chance to come down and check out the property before booking a getaway with my husband and his parents. Right away we clicked with the owners, Jason and Rachel, and we loved the house. It was really cool to hear their story--two young people starting their own business, renting out their house as they traveled the country for work. They are so down-to-earth and trustworthy, it set us right at ease!
The house is totally unique which made it such a different experience than staying at a hotel. We felt right at home being able to cook our own meals and hang by the fire pit in the back yard. My in-laws had a great time and we've decided we need to make it an annual trip!

After searching through the high-priced rentals and hotels in the area I was pleased to finally find a house within my budget so close to the beach. You can't beat the price being walking distance to the beach and being able to accommodate our group of 10 people. You could tell it was an older house but everything was clean and in good working condition. As some of the other reviews said, this place has a great backyard. Aside from our trips to Legoland and Sea World we didn't really need our car. We walked everywhere and the kids of all ages were entertained. Rachel and Jason were super easy to work with and always responded right away when we had questions. Be sure to look through their guest book and take them up on some of the recommendations. The Sunset Market on Thursday night is a must do. Tons of good food and one-of-a-kind gifts to bring home.

Our Birthdays are several days apart so we rented what appeared to be a nice rental property comfortable, quiet, with lovely settings. Unfortunately, our stay at this rental was nothing like that.
Cleanliness: The outside patio gas grill had not been cleaned for long time, grease and grime all outside and inside the grill. The gas burner pipes were so badly clogged flames barely came out. All the windows were dirty, cob webs, chipped paint, small pieces of broken glasses on window sills. Both downstairs and upstairs. The outside temperature was 92 degrees (bit unusual for the area) so all the windows needed to be open. There is no air conditioning so the upstairs got quite warm even with the portable window fans on. The window / frames are old they had to be banged to be lowered and had to be supported to keep open. There were no blinds or curtains in the kitchen nor the living room windows/doors facing the west. So these had the same effect as in solar green house.
The living room sofa or carpeting underneath had a cigarette odor. I have a keen smell and dislike of cigarette tobacco so that was annoying. The upstairs pillow cases had a old musty smell like it had not been changed since the last renters use.
Noise: The Beach is several blocks from this rental, but it also means that it is one block away and parallels the Ocean Boulevard which is the main street of Oceanside. So the side street that this rental rests on is frequently used to bypass the road.
There are frequent noises from passing motor cycles, boom box blasting cars, from computer train traffic and blowing of their horns including the neighborhood dog barking.
Recent Renovation: Never figured out what was advertised as newly renovated. All the furnitures were old something from Thrift Stores. Only one closet (master-bedroom) about 3-ft wide, in entire house ! Wood floors are worn cannot tell if dirty. One inch gaps on bottom of doors leading to backyard. Found 2 inch cockroach crawling in kitchen. Took picture of it and everything observed sent it to Rachel. It was unbearable could not stay our second week. Very big hassle getting our promised refund. So bottom-line; Not Clean, Not Renovated, Not Quiet.
Positive: Convenient to Beach, lots of restaurants. Good for young family with kids who can sleep through anything. For economy-minded. Backyard has potential, but needs new chairs and some landscape work.

This house has a lot of character! It felt like staying in a cottage, but with all the amenities, and everything you need within blocks. From the day we got there, we never even drove our car during our stay. We were able to walk everywhere. And mostly we walked to the beach! It has all the perks of a great beach vacation: the pier, boardwalk, marina, good restaurants, etc. The Local Tap house just a block away has killer draft beer specials. We also spent a lot of time in the backyard. It was like an oasis! We hung out by the fire pit and made drinks at the tiki bar. Definitely had a bungalow sort of feel to it. The house was full of charm, and stocked with everything we needed. You won't find any other place like this one. It is absolutely a one-of-a-kind, and it made it feel like home, but on vacation. The owners were cool as well. I think we'll have to make this an annual trip!

This property was located within 5 minutes of the beach and it was a quiet neighborhood area. The house worked great for us! The one main drawback was that the washer and dryer weren't operable during our stay.

This house is a hidden gem! The second we got there I fell in love with the charm and character of the house. It was even cuter in person than in the pictures. We made ourselves right at home. My kids loved the upstairs bedrooms where they could hang out together in their own space. There were so many personal touches, from the spice cabinet, to the photos of local Oceanside, and the guest book with so many great recommendations. It was fully stocked with all the necessities. We spent a lot of time in the private backyard, making cocktails on the tiki bar, lounging in the sun, and eating big family meals. It was so nice to have a kitchen where we could make meals and not have to eat out all the time. But when we did eat out, there were great restaurants all within walking distance. The sunset market on Thursday just a block away was amazing, just as Jason and Rachel suggested in the guest book. We ate so much good food and bought all kinds of local art and jammed out to the live band. We walked to the beach everyday, took walks down the pier to get milkshakes at Ruby's. My husband even went fishing one day at the harbor. I only wish we could have stayed longer. The weather was perfect, the house was perfect. We will definitely be back!

We had the privilege of being the first group to stay at the house for Spring Break after it was newly remodeled. Rachel was incredibly accommodating and always easy to get a hold of. The house is located in the heart of down town Ocean side, less than a mile from the nearest beach as well as the local markets on Thursdays which are a MUST DO. The house is incredibly cute with a great back yard. The outdoor seating is great and perfect for keeping company including a back deck with seating and a table, a fire bit, a tiki hut, and a small tiki bar. There are also speakers outside which hook up to the tv inside so you are able to enjoy the movie or music no matter where you're located. We took a large group and the house was perfect for what we needed. It was a great place to hang out, with plenty of sleeping (4 twins, a queen, full, and sleeper sofa and then we brought air mattresses), within walking distance of many attractions, and surrounded by great food and shopping. Again, I can't say how great the back yard was! I would stay here again in a heart beat!
