The Beachcomber bungalow is a tropical island style lodging... off on a dirt road, not on the main hwy, less than a minute walk to the beach. It is ideal for honeymooners, but also perfect for a family.
If your looking for a quiet, private and peaceful place to stay on your vacation, this may be the place for you. The Beachcomber Bungalow is an open and airy comfortable beach house, with wood and tile floors, high open beam ceilings and skylights in almost every room. It is tucked away in Haena, off the main road in a safe and quiet area, just steps from the beach. You will be lulled to sleep at night by the sound of the ocean. The white sandy beach out front has epic snorkeling and swimming (seasonal). The beach is great for long or short walks. It is less than a mile from Tunnels beach.
It is located just west of Kepuhi Point in Haena on the north shore of Kauai. You are a ten minute drive from the sleepy town of Hanalei, where you will find an abundance of restaurants and stores to fill all your shopping needs. Just three minutes in the other direction leads you along some of the most scenic, snorkeling beaches to the end of the road, the gateway to the spectacular Na Pali Coast and hiking trail.
This beach house can accommodate people that need wheelchair accessIbility. This house in on the ground, not up on stilts. There is a ramp to the front door, and a roll in shower in both the bathrooms. The whole house is not completely wheelchair accessible, the other bedrooms have a few steps up into them. But there is a nice open layout throughout the house on wood or tile floors for easy getting around whether you're in a wheelchair or not.
There is a king bed in the master bedroom and a queen-size bed in the other 2 bedrooms. This house has been lovingly cared for and has beautiful hand made Hawaiian hardwood kitchen counters. The kitchen has an open and easy design for cooking meals and has all the amenities to accommodate cooking for a family.
There is a nice dining area off the kitchen where you can eat your meals. There are woven bamboo panels and polished black bamboo accents on many of the walls in the house.
The address is 7183 Alealea Rd. Please note that this house is near the ocean and is considered the tsunami evacuation zone. Information on evacuation procedures is located in the information folder on the kitchen counter in the house. Evacuation procedures are: Go right out the driveway, turn R on OneOne rd. Turn left onto Kuhio Hwy. Stay on this road all the way to Princeville, which is considered high ground.

This was our second stay at this lovely hideaway on Kauai's north shore, and it once again exceeded our expectations. Thank you again, Acacia!

We enjoyed our day so much and already miss waking up to the tropical views out our bedroom window and sounds of the jungle. We will absolutely be returning to this home and cannot wait for our next trip. Thank you so much for such a magical stay!

We loved the house! The floor plan is great and furniture is comfortable. Having an outdoor shower is so useful to rinse the sand off. Close to the beach and lovely neighborhood. I would stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay in this great home just a 3 minute walk to the amazing beaches on the north shore! The amenities to the property are as described and all the beach chairs and gear we needed were provided.

We absolutely love this house. Perfect layout for a family with teens. Sweet little neighborhood setting. Beautiful beach. Second time we stayed and it was just as wonderful as we remembered!

Great location. We booked a last minute trip to Hanalei and hadn't stayed in Haena before. It is so peaceful and quiet with a short walk to the beach. Rooms and kitchen were plenty big. If you are looking for a modern, updated beach house, this isn't it, but for the price, the spaciousness and adequate kitchen/bathrooms are just fine. The location and serenity? Priceless. Perfect for 2 couples or a family of 5 who are interested in having a home base while they explore the island, or better yet, hanging out at the beaches and state park nearby. Don't miss the new coffee shop down the road. Fantastic.

We had an amazing week in this home! Incredible location. Embedded in a beautiful little neighborhood and right by the beach. This place is close to the best beaches on the island as well as a small town with places to eat and shop while feeling like the edge of the world. The house was clean, cozy and well equipped. We will be back.

The property, scenery, ambiance, location … everything! … was perfect. Every night was incredible, falling asleep to the sounds of the birds, the frogs, and the crashing ocean waves while a cool breeze blew through the house. Our kids loved being able to walk right to the secluded, empty beach and we loved walking out each morning to watch the sun rise over the waves. The whole experience was amazing and one our family won’t soon forget.

Pros:
Location - a 90 second walk to a beautiful swimmable beach. The house is in a quiet rural neighbourhood. 20 minute walk to Tunnels Beach.
Price - the least expensive rental in the neighbourhood.
Manager - Acacia was very attentive and supportive from the time we booked to checkout.
Amenities and equipment - the house came well equipped in the kitchen and beach stuff. Only miss was a dishwasher, but not a big deal.
Cons
Photos - especially the yard was made to look more inviting and useable than in reality
House - it’s tired - needs big maintenance on all windows and doors, back deck, and bathrooms.
There’s not much in outdoor space.
The linens felt thin and old - except the towels, both bath and beach were great.
Bedrooms - only the master is completely private- the other two have sliding paper doors and are open up at the ceiling. I’d suggest that the house would seem crowded if all the bedrooms were used.
That all said, we had a wonderful holiday, and the issues with the house didn’t get in the way much at all.

Overall, the property was nice and remote. It was a short walk to the beach. The listing said there was a hot tub, but we were disappointed when we saw that there wasn’t one there. We booked this place partly because we wanted this option while we stayed at this property.

Place was great. Clean and well supplied with kitchen utensils, towels, beach gear and other necessities. Get ready for tiny lizards in the yard and sometimes in the house :) Super close to the beach. Walls essentially don’t exist, so go with friends who don’t snore ;) This place is great for getting close to nature and enjoying the weather

Overall a very enjoyable stay! We loved the location with easy access to beautiful beaches and a short drive to Hanalei town. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking all week, and we were so appreciative of all the towels and beach gear (chairs, umbrellas, children’s beach toys). The beds were all very comfortable and everyone in our group slept well. I’m giving the house four stars and not five as some items could be more dialed in when considering the cost of our stay. One of the bathrooms has been updated, but the en-suite bathroom is very dated and could stand a refresh. But, nothing glaringly wrong, and we had a wonderful time on our vacation.

Our stay in Kauai couldn’t have been more amazing. Thank you to Acacia for providing such a beautiful well loved home for us to stay in during our trip. It was clearly built with love and Aloha.
Quick walk to the most peaceful beach. Especially beautiful at sunrise. Chairs and coolers provided were a nice touch.
During our stay a light went out, Acacia had it fixed within an hour.
I would stay again.

Neat little house but also quite spacious. Steps from uncrowded beach makes it worthwhile, but...I implore the owners or manager to get new bed linens---the old, faded and stained cotton sheets were from the 1990s it appeared from the print style. The bedspreads were gross. I gave up on the master bedroom as the bathroom was dark and kind of grungy with a really old mirror and the sliding glass door to the deck was almost impossible to open. The whole place needs a deep, thorough cleaning---corners, lampshades, windowsills, etc. Many windows did not function---not because they're old, necessarily, as stated in the property info book, but because they are not serviced and maintained with lubricants and grease on the mechanical hardware. I live near the beach in a 50+ year-old house and know the ocean air is corrosive, so maintenance is essential. All that being said, I'm still glad I rented this place. The kitchen is great and well-appointed and the proximity to that mellow private beach was worth it all! Really, a great place that could REALLY use some updated bedding and thorough cleaning and maintenance, then it would be perfect!

We are 2 couples in our 70’s. The house is cute, roomy and interesting. Lots of old wood finishes. There are 3 roomy bedrooms. The living room is spacious and comfortable.
The beach is an easy 2 minute walk from the house.
the neighbourhood is quite and well landscaped. I found the repeated instructions to be very quiet for the neighbours to be a little off-putting.
The beach is lovely and near-by Tunnels beach is awe inspiring, I wanted to snorkel but winter had arrived by mid-October and that was really not an option. We saw several monk seals, so I guess that makes up for it.

This was a really nice place to stay for a week. We stayed in the master bedroom and our bed was super. We really enjoyed our stay. Our friends liked their accommodations in the guest rooms as well. The kitchen had all that we needed and the bathrooms were great and easily accessible if you needed that. The house is big so it gives a spacious feel. The living room is come for table and cozy.
It’s also important for folks to remember that this side of the island is a jungle, geckos sing to you at night, it rains intermittently or torrentially, the roads are always under construction, the neighborhood is quiet so folks voices or coughs can be heard, you will be warm during the day due to the beautiful light filling skylights and there is no air conditioning. The fans are great and the house is built for the trades (wind). Beach access is awesome! Sunrises are beautiful, the owners were kind and got us in early, the home was clean and we all slept great. Aloha.

Great stay, clean and comfortable.
Could do with a better gate and house signage on the gate/road.
Thought the place was wonderful.
Mahalo!

MY wife and I had a nice relaxing time at this property. Quiet neighborhood. Everything was as described, and host was communicative and answered all of the questions we had before. Would recommend a stay here for a quiet relaxing time.

We loved the week we stayed here. The house was perfect for us and our two teenagers - plenty of space to spread out. We loved the quiet neighborhood and the proximity to the beach for sunrises and sunsets. It was so easy to get to Tunnels Beach, Haena Beach and into Hanalei. We would definitely return!

The house was beautiful and well taken care of. You had to cross the road to get to the beach. The fans were a must for me as it was warm during the day. There was a good coffee shop within walking distance that we enjoyed. It felt very authentic Hawaiian.

We spent 6 nights at this lovely home. While we were busy on adventures during the day, we appreciated coming back to this comfortable home each evening. With the windows open and the fans helping when needed, we felt comfortable during our stay. The kitchen is organized and well-equipped. The three bedrooms gave us all our own space to unpack and settle in. Beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, coolers and beach toys were much appreciated. Communication with the owners was great. They provided timely information about access to Ha’ena Beach which we could have easily missed. The carvings in this home are beautiful and contributed to our authentic Hawaiian experience! Hope to come back to Kauai again and would not hesitate to stay in this home for our return trip!

We loved the location and the cute bungalow!! It is in a quiet neighborhood within a short walk to the beach. Views from the beach are fantastic.

Extremely close to the beach for a morning swim and evening sunset. A 3 minute walk to Opakapaka bar and grill. The house is in a great location. A short walk to Tunnels. We had a great time.

When we first saw this posting we were floored by how beautiful and spacious this house looked, which it was. But once we started living in it we noticed things that made us question why it was priced so high. There was mold in the water filter. Mold in the shower. Mold in the washer. Mold and rust on kitchen appliances. Cobwebs on dining chairs, couches. Holes on window screens so flies were getting in. Bed/bedding was not the cleanest. At the end of the trip, we didn’t feel comfortable that we spent this much for this stay. The house was thoughtfully designed and we appreciated the beach chairs, umbrella, coolers, and other necessities. Communication was good, and location was great. If they spent more time upgrading the house and investing on dehumidifiers to minimize molding (considering it’s on North Shore), price point would be reasonable. Otherwise, the price should be reevaluated.

Although we only got to enjoy this beautiful and secluded home for a single night prior to beginning our journey on the Kalalau trail (with the house located a short ~2 miles from the trailhead), this home was exactly as advertised and even more beautiful in person, feeling extremely private and located in a lovely rainforest environment, we slept to the sound of rain throughout the night and stayed nice and cool while we slept using the ceiling fans and open windows. 10/10 would recommend to someone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and just relax in a serene home.

The location of our rental was great! We enjoyed the semi private beach area that was great for snorkeling and just taking in the calm. I must admit that the lack of air conditioning takes some getting used to but the fans were helpful. The neighborhood felt safe and was quiet. The home is very well laid out but needs a few easy updates. We loved our stay and hope to return!

My wife and I just stayed here for a week and really enjoyed this house. It had everything we needed. It is in a beautiful location very close to our favorite north shore beach "Tunnels". It was true aloha feeling staying in this house ! Acacia was very quick to respond to any questions throughout the whole booking process and gave us great information to help us with our stay. She even replaced our beach umbrella within hours after I notified her the one at the house was not useable. Excellent service and communication. The house is truly a Hawaiian feel with beautiful Hawaiian wood carvings all throughout the house and the kitchen counters. Just an excellent location to enjoy all the gorgeous beaches on the north shore. Highly recommended !!!

We were very comfortable at Acacia's bungalow and loved the close by access to Kepuhi Beach which was our favorite snorkeling location. Haena and Tunnels Beaches are 1.5 miles away via beach or road, so also very accessible. The bungalow has a great layout for two couples, or a couple with small children - very safe neighborhood. Cooking was a pleasure in the well-equipped kitchen with everything you'd need including some basic cooking oils/seasonings. Good assortment of knives, although not terribly sharp. Beds were reasonably comfortable, but bedding/towels are due for replacement. Beach equipment is also near the end of its life, but workable. Patio/lanai furnishings are basic, and mosquitos are problematic unless there's a breeze. We saw lizards on the lanai and a few inside, but they kept to themselves. We had two rainy days out of eight days -- it was mostly sunny and warm. The house heated up during the day, but ceiling and floor fans were adequate to keep the air moving and us comfortable, particularly in the back primary bedroom. We thought the lighting could be better - perhaps upgrade the bulbs and/or fixtures to a higher wattage? Communication with Acacia was excellent throughout the process from first inquiry until we checked out. I'd like to stay here again with our adult children and their spouses, but there is a strict maximum of five guests, unfortunately.

The property manager was so nice and gave us so much information about the location and the house and the island. This house has so many windows. It makes you feel like you’re in a jungle when you look outside the plants and trees around the house are beautiful. It was a two minute walk to the beach it almost felt like it was your own private beach. The water was shallow clear and amazing. There’s also a little restaurant around the corner in case you get hungry or if you wanted to have a drink.

We absolutely loved this house for our first time in Kauai. The rooms were spacious and clean and the property manager Acacia shared a wealth of information before, during and at the end of our trip. She even sent a helpful text message the morning that we left, to let us know about upcoming storms and how we should proceed to get to the airport safely. The kitchen was plenty big with everything you need for cooking and dining; including your basic spices and oil. There was also a bag of beach toys, a couple chairs, and a boogie board at the house. The beach is a couple minute walk away and, it's just as pretty as any beaches we visiting in Hanalei. It was great for snorkeling and watching the sun come up. I really don't have anything to complain about on this property. We would be happy to stay there again, anytime.

My boyfriend and I took his mother, sister and brother-in-law to Kauai for the first time. We wanted a quiet location to enjoy all the lushness of the island. The Beachcomber Bungalow was the perfect spot - tranquil, quaint, and beach access about as close as you can get without being located directly on the beach. We had to spend a lot of time in the car to get to activities on the south and east side of the island, but we were prepared for that. We loved the proximity to Ha'ena State Park, Tunnels Beach, the Opakaka restaurant and coffee shop next door, the market a mile down the road, and the short drive to Hanalei. The owners were responsive and helpful - they provided tons of info about the area, tips and clear instructions. We couldn't have asked for more!

Our overall impression of our stay here was positive. The place and location was remote, rustic, and had a very nostalgic Hawaiian feel to it. The almost private beach a short walk away was the outstanding feature.
