About this cabin rental
Thank you for selecting Yosemite Hilltop Cabins for your get-away! You will receive a pre-check-in email regarding your stay, if you can fill that out it would be much appreciated. As some details are required, other questions simply help with the housekeeping schedule.
NOTE – This listing is for the Sage Cabin. The listing and availability calendar for the Lupin Cabin is also on VRBO/HomeAway under property number 115073. Both cabins are on the same property, have the same floor plan, and are furnished almost identically.
Our cabins are very private. Even though the Sage and Lupin Cabins are located next to each other they are oriented to maintain maximum privacy. Each cabin has 17-foot-tall wood beam ceilings with ceiling fans and lots of windows to take advantage of the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
Each cabin has a master bedroom with a comfy king-size bed and down comforter. There is also a foldout sofa bed that is the size of a full mattress. The cabin has a full bath, full kitchen, and reading loft. Each cabin also has its own patio with a high quality Weber gas barbecue
When you arrive at your cabin there will be fresh linens on the bed and clean towels in the bathroom. There will be brand-name shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the bathroom. You will only need to bring food, clothes, and personal toiletry items.
Fantastic hiking and running trails with wildflowers, waterfalls, and wildlife can be accessed right from the cabins.
Unfortunately no pets or dogs are allowed. Yosemite is not very dog friendly. You won't be able to take your dog with you on hikes.
Each cabin has a TV/DVD player. The TV has no programming, DVD only. There is a small DVD library to pick from or you can bring your own movies.
The kitchen has all the cookware and dinnerware that you will need to prepare and serve meals. The kitchen also has a microwave oven, toaster, blender, coffee grinder, and coffee maker.
The cabins are heated in the winter by propane heaters that look like wood-burning stoves. Both cabins have evaporative coolers that work great to keep the cabins cool during the summer.
Some cell phones work at the cabins. Verizon is the best. Each cabin has a land-line telephone for use during your stay.

We loved staying at Sage Cabin while visiting Yosemite. It’s within the Park so you don’t need reservations and it’s close to Yosemite Valley and a reasonable drive to other parts of the Park. Clean, quiet, very responsive host. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay at Sage cabin - it was clean and comfortable, there's room in the loft with three folding mattresses, where one teen slept happily and the other used the side of the sofa, so we didnt even need to open the sofa bed. Foresta is a great base for yosemite exploration, and we cooked our own meals in tje cabin, we had all the equipment we needed there.a real find, so glad we got to stay here! Thanks Steve!

Saved at least an hour each day staying on the NPS. Cabin has easy access to upper part of park and the valley.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Foresta/Sage Cabin.
Beautiful ride into Yosemite through tunnel and beautiful ride into Foresta as well!
Cabin was well supplied to include an ice maker in the frig, iron, ironing board, coffee maker, toaster, oven, grill.....
Even though temperatures were in the high 90s during our visit, we didn't need the air conditioning as cabin remained cool.
Travel time from cabin to Yosemite Valley - 30 mins
Travel time from cabin to North Dome Trailhead - 1 hour
Travel time from cabin to Glacier Point - 1 hour
Only brought/ate breakfast items as we were early hikers - coming from East Coast, it was easy to get up early....
Late lunch at 1889 bar one day as pizza deck was way too busy (reminds me of getting a lounge chair on cruise ship - rat race).
Dined at the Lodge which was good on another night (made reservation 2 weeks in advance).
Also Ate at South Gate Brewing Company in Oakhurst on way to Yosemite which was also simple, quick and good.
I would highly recommend staying in this cabin!

This was our first time to Yosemite. It was a nice property. Steve was really communicative and helpful. It was really nice staying within the park. Highly recommend this property.

This property was perfect for our visit to Yosemite since we wanted to stay inside the park. Everything we needed to grill out and cook meals was provided. Beds were comfortable. Kids had space to play. I would stay here again.

We have stayed the Hilltop Cabins several times. We love the location, out of the crowds of Yosemite Valley, yet only 20 minutes away. We can prepare our own food in the full kitchen and not have to rely on valley concessions. The cabins are cozy, and offers the comforts of home. The cabins have 1 bedroom and a loft. The loft area requires quite a ladder climb, so probably not a good choice for small children. The couch provides a good sleeping option as well.
We would suggest bringing your own paper products such as Paper towels and toliet paper, but otherwise the cabin is well stocked. The immediate surrounding property is lovely and quiet. We will stay again

We enjoyed our stay at Hilltop Cabin - Sage. Bed was comfortable and cabin was in a convenient location next to Yosemite Valley. Cabin is in a quiet and serene area. Would recommend for small families who are trying to get away and disconnect from screens.

This cabin was wonderful! It is small, perfect for a couple, and in the peaceful Foresta area of Yosemite National Park. We had a short and lovely drive into the valley each day and were able to spend our nights away from the crowds. Would 100% stay here again if we make it back to Yosemite in the future.

This is a lovely, cozy cabin, in a quiet neighborhood and easy 25 minute drive from the valley. The kitchen has good appliances and basic cooking gear. There are very few pantry items so do bring what you need.

We loved our stay at Steve’s cabin. It had everything we needed and was more than comfortable for our three night trip to enjoy Yosemite Valley in the spring. We even got a late late winter snow storm!!! We loved how close the cabin location is to the Valley floor - just a 10-15 minute drive. Steve was a wonderful host and excellent with communication and responses to our questions. We would absolutely consider coming back to this cabin.

Steve was very responsive. A fantastic location for spending time in Yosemite national Park. A quiet, comfortable unit for two people. We enjoyed the grill, the patio, the neighborhood.

We were 2 couples who rented both cabins. On a prior visit to Yosemite, we stayed in park lodging in the Village. We chose Foresta this time and definitely preferred it. While it’s a 25 minute drive into the Village, you are close to the Tioga Rd, Merced and Tuolumne Groves, and enjoy much more privacy! We loved having our own kitchens and porches to enjoy in the evening. Very comfortable and well appointed. Would stay again!

This cabin was lovely and was a perfect location to drive in and out of the valley at our convenience with a toddler. It’s a small cabin but the kitchen has all the tools we needed and the outdoor space is beautiful and serene. Would definitely come back

A lovely little place and perfect for splurging on a week inside the park! My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The location is private while being close to the valley, and absolutely beautiful. Steve was available right away and very helpful the couple of times we had questions for him, especially when we needed advice about dealing with unexpected snow at the end of our visit. I hope to stay at the Sage Cabin again!

This cabin, and its adjacent twin, is in Foresta, inside the Yosemite Park, but in a small private enclave of similar cabins/homes. It allows for ease of access to Yosemite Valley as well as a direct drive up to Hatch Hetchy. We did both areas during our stay. While there are nearly cabins, they are not real close, so it feels private and away from the traffic, crowds. The cabin comes with everything you need, and the hosts are excellent in responding to questions, for advice, and with helpful tips. Nearby Foresta Falls is an 'off the beaten path' easy hike from the Cabin and absolutely beautiful. My wife and I had a great stay, and hope to return some time with more family members. I highly recommend Sage Cabin!

It’s been twenty years now that I’ve been staying here, every few years and pretty much always in winter or spring. A great location, cozy cabin, warm enough, quiet, and reliably close to snow higher up the road, for snowshoe hikes or sledding. This is a special place. Not too big, just right for two or four people. Lots of nice walking routes around the immediate area, and the valley is also very close.

Cozy cabin to stay in while exploring the park. A bit removed from the actual park but nothing too bad. Would recommend

This property was exactly what it was advertised as. It was out of the way, but not too far. The property was very well kept. It had everything needed to cook your food. The property was so relaxing. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely recommend this property to any one who is looking to get away.

This is our second time staying at Hilltop Cabins (last time was the Lupin cabin) and again everything was fantastic. The location is beautiful, just a short little drive from the busy valley into your own quiet piece of the forest. There's everything you need inside. The cabin stays nice and warm, it's a lovely way to end a day of hiking and adventuring. The host is awesome, every question we had was answered and very quickly. See you next year!!

We've stayed here several times, it's perfect for us, small and very livable for a family of four. I'd stay here again.

This is our second winter stay at Hilltop Cabins. The draw for us is the location, affordability, and comfortable king-sized bed. The accommodations are simple and need updating but are entirely sufficient for a couple who spends most of the day outdoors; the cabin is clean, the neighborhood is quiet, and the neighbors are friendly. The host is easily reached and quickly responds to messages. There's a lovely sunset walk to a nearby waterfall. Across Oak Flat Road is Old Big Oak Flat Road trailhead; a peaceful four-mile hike to Yosemite's first paved road--now abandoned--and a 17-mile hike to Yosemite Falls. The valley is close and Hetch Hetchy is an hour away. We love the winter season here.

Sage cabin is in a lovely and peaceful remote area inside Yosemite! It is the perfect place to enjoy the park and get away from the crowds. Comfy king bed and well equipped kitchen and bath. Loved watching the stars at night and having coffee on the covered patio in the morning.
