I was very happy I chose this lodge in a Nature Reserve a short distance from the center of Livingstone. With a herd of monkeys who were always curious and playful around the bungalow, and elephants in the immediate area. I really found harmony and contact with nature, and it was nice to be here instead of the center of Livingstone. There are big good quality mosquito nets in the bungalows and repelleant is sprayed before bedtime, so don't worry about mosquito bites at night.
It is important to know that on the Zambian side of the border you have 2 unique attractions that you cannot find on the more visited Zimbabwean side:
1) The "microlight fly" (a motorized hangglider) experience over the Victoria Falls is what can only be described as truly breathtaking. The lodge is only a few hundred meters from the Batoka airstrip where you fly out to the Victora Falls and over the Zambezi River.
2) The "Devil's pool" where you get your amazing Instagram photos from the top edge of Victoria Falls. You absolutely must experience these 2 on the Zambian side - remember that you must have a visa on the Zimbabwean side, and you must have a multiple entry visa if you are going in and out of Zimbabwe more than once.
The Zambian side is also much cheaper, especially on food and drinks, and feels even safer than the Zimbabwean side. There are many good reasons to spend a few days on Zambia's side, unlike what many tourists do - and it feels liberating. I have traveled 130+ countries, so I appreciate what's genuine.
Darius (the owner) is a book of his own. You will not find a more nice and helpful person. He helps you with absolutely everything, and please start planning before your arrival, as some of the attractions and available times are sold out days in advance. He can also put together larger travel packages including safaris in Zambia and neighboring countries, both for single people and large groups.

Everything was standard.
Didnt like the service from the staff, although the manager was amazing

The staff were lovely, the location on the edge of the park was perfect, elephants roaming at night, truly atmospheric. Darius, the manager was incredibly helpful and despite our wishes to walk alone, always catered our safety
Mosquitoes but that’s part of the nature. That said, the staff sprayed our room every evening before bed and ensured we had a peaceful sleep

The staff was amazing. Darius was an amazing host. He arranged everything for our trip to Chobe national park in Bostwana and our day trip to Zimbabwe as well as our visit to Mukuni Village. All staff was so helpful since beginning of our stay. We felt like we were among family. The location was also so nice, we were close to town and at the same time we were in the middle of the nature.

Would give this property an 8.5.
Darius, the manager was really friendly and helpful. He organised our day trip to Chobe National Park in Botswana. When the tour company overcharged us, he ensured we were refunded despite the cost to him. We really appreciated his integrity and would definitely recommend his services to visitors.
The chalets were really lovely. They were spacious, had 2 sinks, a huge comfortable bed, an authentic lodge style and a mini fridge which was really handy for us. The lighting could also be operated from next to the bed which was a nice touch.
We were unlucky that there was a festival on so the music at night was very loud. This isn't the property's fault but more an issue with Livingstone confusing themselves for Las Vegas! There shoould be council rules around such disruptive sounds considering the wildlife in the area and people sleeping!
In terms of the property, we were very happy but would suggest a couple of things to improve:
- One of the rooms had a leaking air conditioning unit.
- The showers didn't have enough pressure.
- The breakfast could be better: There was only one cereal option, some of the fruits were tinned so it was very syrupy and sweet (not good for a diabetic member of our family or a healthy option), there was only dairy milk and butter so no option for people who cannot have dairy, there was only instant coffee - some filter coffee would be nice.
Helpful to note: There isn't really a useable pool. It is too small swim in and is more a feature/ something to dip your toes in or for children to have a splash. We didn't mind as we were doing excursions in the day anyway :)

Wonderful, quiet lodge in the middle of nature with lovely rooms, comfortable beds, great food and especially amazing staff who is always there for you. They do everything to make your stay perfect. Thanks so much Darius, Enevia and all! Will definitely come back next time I'm in Zambia and can highly recommend to stay at the Royal Sichango Village.

Very nice room. Very friendly staff. Nice place in a quite park.
We came back at 9.30pm from dinner and the place was completely abandoned. We couldn't get back to the hotel as security had left and they had put the locker on the main gate. As I didn't manage to call with my phone, we drove for 20' to find a place that could call for us. As a result the manager picked up the phone, and we drove back to the hotel where finally the gate was opened. If we hadn't managed to reach this person on the phone, I guess we would have needed to find another place to stay. Not a pleasant experience at 10 pm in a completely dark African city...

Enjoyed the remoteness, the AC after a super hot day exploring the falls, and the cozy thatched rooms!
Be prepared with ear plugs or a noise app; you are in a remote area with lots of bugs, birds and animals making noises all night long!

The facility is clean and the stuff were very friendly. Its located close to most of the activities in Livingstone
I was satisfied with my stay

This is a uniquely calm, quiet place with a lush, well-kept garden with monkeys swinging in the trees and a lovely pool area and beautiful bar. We had a spacious three-rooms-in-one-bungalow for our family with a high seeling, big, good beds and mosquito nets sprayed and set up for us in the evening. The staff was very welcoming and attentive, flexible and relaxed. We were served good food to our taste. (We got pancakes in stead of meat for breakfast, vegetarian burgers and pasta were made for us on the spot, etc.) You can walk down to the river to watch the sunset and get back before it gets dark.
It's a bit far into charming Livingstone, but the staff can organize transport, and there are taxis in town.
There are things - a tap or lamp or door here and a sunbed there - that ought to be fixed. There's a need for a bit of maintenance. The pool needs a good clean.

Excellent location and very quiet. You really can relax from city-noise.

We were shocked at the condition of the room. The front door would not close, screws and handle hanging off. The bath plug got stuck and would not drain the water from the only overhead shower which had little pressure. There was a TV in room but not connected to any signal. Wifi only in main lodge building. No staff appeared for breakfast, then made the excuse that elephants were blocking the road. This may have been the case, but when we left and came to elephants we turned around and took a different way into town. Surely the staff should know how to get there by different roads

The nearby ponds were excellent for birdwatching. The ponds are in walking distance from Royal Sichango Village. Nice and calm place outside the citycenter in green surroundings. Easy to get to downtown Livingstone on rented bicycles or walking using maps.me. Alternatively, Darius kindly gave us a lift or called a taxa.

The Royal Sichango Manager Mr Darius and his staff were very friendly and helpful. Mr Darius can organise taxis, trips and activities if you are interested to do them. Staff were welcoming and accommodating. The food was all cooked fresh on the premises and was very tasty. The room was cleaned and freshened daily and made as mosquito free as possible for us in the evening. If you are lucky sometimes you can see elephants from the hotel garden. I recommend a stay here
There are monkeys who live in the garden. They were fine but do not walk around with food, they really want that😮

Darius and his staff try really hard to make you feel comfortable. They are just great
The mosquitoes... Which oddly do not bite. And the staff does so much trouble smoking the rooms that they where forgotten. A minor nuisance. Well done to Darius and his team

We stayed in the family unit, all 6 of us fit comfortably in the 3 ensuite rooms. The beds were the best I have slept in for ages. There were mosquitos but the wonderful staff sprayed the rooms and put down the nets while we were out and we were not bothered at all. Inclusive breakfast was pretty good and filling Would definitely recommend and we will stay there again
Not really a negative but the property could do with a bit of maintenance
3.0 / 5.0
The food was surprisingly good, given the low occupancy and the challenges that brings with maintaining food stocks to service a varied menu. Portion sizes were generous and prices very reasonable. You didn’t feel trapped by extortionate in house menu prices forcing you to eat out. On the contrary, their was a financial incentive to eat in.
The pool was being maintained on arrival, which was a great disappointment to 4 kids getting off an 8hr bus ride who were looking forward to jumping in. They did get it operational in time for our last day which was some consolation. My main bugbear was the disproportionately large beds squeezed into relatively small rooms. Moving around the room was very difficult and cramped, with no easy chairs to relax in, and the built in mini desk was not functional. There was no space for a chair, had there been a chair. Also, the walk through toilets and showers were poorly designed, with anyone in the bedroom able to see, smell and hear whoever is on the loo. Adding a door, or at least a curtain, would be a big improvement. Lighting fixtures had some missing bulbs and some switches did nothing. The verandas had no furniture also. Breakfast bar a little underwhelming, but both fried breakfast and pancakes were excellent.

The staff at the Royal Sichango are like a happy family and they welcome you as such. Darius, Anavia, Lydia, Jeraint and Ronald can't do enough for you. The rooms are wonderful and the housekeeping team do a brilliant job every day to keep them looking great for your entire stay.
There were a lot of mosquitoes but they weren't biting. However, the staff do their best to make it as comfortable as possible by using night time coils and providing insect repellent.

I was at a conference in Livingstone and did not have time to prepare for the trip. I knew little about the area, apart Vic Falls. Darius was great in helping me plan out some activities during my stay. I ended up doing a half day around Vic Falls, an ultralight ride over the Falls, whitewater rafting on the Zambezi and a day safari at Chobe National Park. All without spending alot of time planning.
The staff was attentive, being creative with the menu to prepare something new each night.
The property is well kept and resident monkeys 🐒 keeps one entertained in the early evening.
I hope to be back.

We have been upgraded to a luxurious room because there were no other guests due to covid.
The manager tried everything possible to get our lost covid tests out of the offices after closing time. That was amazing.
