About this house rental
Private, secluded villa faces Florida Bay in view of the fabulous Everglades. Located in a lush tropical hammock in a quiet residential area (rare), the villa is approx. 50 feet from the water. The property contains a wading beach and a free marina with night lights, power and water.
The villa itself comes with a fully-equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, linens, queen and king beds, Cable TV, VCR, and a Florida room for dining. Windows in the living room and bedroom cover two thirds of the wall giving the feeling of the outdoors being in during the day and easy open/close window coverings provide privacy at night. This is a small house, near the water, no high-rise, no canal, and no density of people problem. This is a laid-back atmosphere for those who desire it.
Located on Upper Matecumbe Key, the "downtown" area of Islamorada, the property is quiet and hidden. Boats up to 25' are secure in our protected marina. Most trailers are able to launch from the property but a few extra-wide may have to use nearby launching places. There is trailer parking on the property as well as two parking places per unit. There are seven units on the property.
Free use of the village park(tennis, pickle ball, beach, pool, and dog park) is provided to guests. There are three state parks in the Islamorada area and the owner will provide passes. You are within walking distance to the best restaurants, shopping, and attractions. Free electric "taxis" are able to take you anywhere in town. Grocery, fishing and boating supplies are conveniently close.
Islamorada proudly calls itself the 'Fishing Capital of the World' and fishermen love us!
Located close to the best backcountry fishing on the edge of the Everglades, we are also able to easily access reef and blue water fishing. Our immediate bay provides fun catching tarpon and easy fishing on our seawall at night is a guest favorite. Owner has names of boat rental places and guides for all types of fishing and snorkeling. Next door to us is Back Country Cowboy. They rent kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, as well as bicycles. our bay is the perfect, protected area for all water activities. Oceanside, we have some of the best snorkeling and scuba areas in the Keys!
There's never a dull moment at our marina. We have an Osprey nest nearby. If you clean fish, you'll have lots of bird friends. Other visitors are manatees, octopi, and nurse sharks.
This property is treasured by guests and owners alike. The privacy is wonderful, the property peaceful, and the villas kept clean and updated. Most of our guests come year after year. Some have met friends one year and make the same dates together the next year. The size of the property is perfect- not too big, just right.
Three or four years ago, Fox News had a "US Best Sunsets" contest. Someone submitted one of our guest's pictures and we recognized it! "Our sunset" won over thousands submitted. Come and enjoy the best The Keys has to offer. Best location, best property, best fishing, and the best sunsets.

We were more than pleased with our stay! The property is beautiful and our cottage was comfortable, beautiful and ideal for us. Location wise, everything you could need is right there like fabulous eats, Publix, tackle shops, World Wide Sportsman (also easily accessed by boat) as well as some museums and attractions. Our cottage was bigger than it looked and beautifully bright with the practically wrap around windows looking into the gardens. The sunsets were beautiful and the marina well protected from the wind with direct access to channels that go everywhere. The property guests were quiet and some were repeats! Our host was super and we would highly recommend this property boater or not! There's an equipment rental company at the top of the driveway for paddle boards etc.
Just a mention: Safe Harbor Angler Marina is just down the channel and is a good place to launch and take your boat out, just call ahead of time and check times and rates, they reserve times for captains only. Smaller boats with low t-top (no towers) will fit the driveway, ramp and tree coverage at the property. Safe Harbor is about a 4 minute drive by boat or vehicle.

The location was perfect, we had our pick of many good restaurants and stores. The cottage was very clean and comfortable for the four of us. Very convenient having a ramp, dock for our boat and place to park our trailer. The resort is very quiet and peaceful with amazing sunsets 🌅. The property is so nice and large enough for two adults and two small dogs. we loved it but unfortunately had to leave because of a serious illness in our family. I was a bit surprised that I never heard anything when I called to announce our early departure however.

Very convenient location
The keys villa had everything we needed. The property itself is beautiful and very conveniently located to everything in islamorada. The on-site marina was nice and the islamorada sand bar is about a 15 min boat ride away. If you want a tropical setting (palm trees, lush tropical vegetation) then this is the property for you. We will be back!

Wonderful Week
We had a delightful stay and everything was advertised. We had fun figuring out how to open the Murphy queen bed and it was comfortable for our girls. The big windows give the house a feeling of more space. Recommend the paddle board/kayak rental at Backcountry at the front end of the driveway. Sunsets are gorgeous!

Easy and breezy on the bay
We so enjoyed our two week stay at this lovely one bedroom one bath freestanding home with delightful fenced in patio with a peakaboo view of the bay. This wonderful Ranch home is also surrounded by lots of mature landscaping lending to the privacy and the overall beauty of the area. Close to a lot of activities, restaurants and shopping. Lots of outdoor activities nearby that we enjoyed such as kayaking, biking, scuba diving, golfing and walking our dog. Property owner was very responsive and pleasant. We even got a wonderful tour of her nearby home’s extensive gardens along with cuttings from numerous lovely plants. Getting to know the other guests staying in the same area was pleasure as well, our dog ended up with a girlfriend doggie😊. By the end of our stay we felt like we were leaving our winter home getaway. We sure hope we can get a chance to stay there again next winter. Thanks Phyllis!

Great Location
Location of this property is fantastic and central to everything and very close to the water. Place is clean and perfect for a couple. Only thing that needs work is the shower which is scalding, then cold, then scalding. Mrs. Mitchell is a sweetheart and made us wonderful fish dip and gave us a tour of her beautiful garden. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay.

Lovely stay
We had such a lovely stay! It was all that we needed! Phyllis was so lovely! She brought us over delicious smoked fish dip and also gave us a tour of her garden and gave us clippings to take home! Everyone who stayed around us was so friendly. The place was pet friendly which is big for us bringing our two dogs. The sunsets every night were to die for. It was perfect for our boat to be able to keep it in the water the entire stay and it was protected. Hope to be back soon! We came from Pennsylvania!

WONDERFUL PLACE!!
My wife and I had a wonderful time at Mitchell’s lodge. The location is perfect and the other guest were very friendly. The best part was the owner Phyllis. She brought over some delicious salmon dip with crackers and invited us to her beautiful garden to explore. She even gave us a few cuttings of her plants in which I just planted in our garden at home. We will definitely be back!

Good Location, but that’s it.
A good location puts you in the heart of Islamorada on the bay side, but that’s about it for pros. Unit is small & uncomfortable , 2 people is max, Murphy bed doesn’t work, rattan furniture old & outdated, bed needs new mattress, W/D & dishwasher should only be run when you are out as they are cheap & loud. 2 crappy ‘14” flat screens, no “nice” additions like beach chairs, swim stuff (noodles, rafts), kayak,SUP- owner squeezes every dime out of this rental & is unresponsive, even ornery when you do talk to her. There are definitely better places to stay!

Perfect getaway!
Amazing trip...just what the family needed! We had such a great time at this villa.. best part about it...it’s own marina! Nothing like being able to wake up and take your coffee and be able to walk out the door and be on my boat! My son loved that from the moment he woke up till he went to sleep he could just walk out the door and be able to fish! Great find and will be back next year! Great location too! Best spot on the island!

We are so thankful to Bob for helping make our Keys visit perfect. The location of the villa in Islamorada is amazing, you can walk to numerous shops, bars and restaurants.
We loved being able to moor our boat in the marina and enjoyed many peaceful afternoons relaxing and enjoying the bayside views and sunsets from the dock. The villa was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We can't wait to return.

Beautiful property. Nice place to stay.
My family and I love to visit Islamorda for the summers. This vacation was by far the best yet. We were able to launch and dock our boat. That was a game changer for us to be able to turn the key and go. We caught Mahi off shore and caught a few lobsters in shore. Saw Hen and Chickens Reef with dolphins, starfish, sea turtles, hammer head sharks, sea horses, puffer fish, parrot fish, and lion fish. Visited all the attractions that the Keys have to offer. The most beautiful sunsets were right there at the bulkhead of this property.
The 1 bedroom villa was clean and spacious and very comfortable. The landscaping was immaculate and the other visitors on the property were all so nice. We couldn't have asked for a better time. Thank you guys. We hope to see you again next year.

Our experience at Mitchell's Villa was so much better than expected. I traveled with my husband and teenage daughters. The house was "cozy" for a family of 4 full grown people but it was very comfortable. We loved every moment. We enjoyed coffee every morning in the private patio or on the pier. We fished and snorkeled from the pier on a daily bases and saw amazing wildlife including porpoise, manatee, rays, shark, lobster and many different species of reef fish. Every night, we enjoyed beautiful sunsets.
The location could not have been more convenient. There is a Dollar Tree, Publix, and CVS for the basics less than a mile North. There are so many restaurants and stores within walking distance or more less than a 5 minute drive away. In 35 minutes we were at K-Mart in Key Largo and 15-20 minutes to Win-Dixie in Tavenier (which I found to be cheaper than Publix and maybe better stocked.) There is a movie theater is also there for rainy days (which we have not experienced).
I really can't say enough good about this experience. We were a little concerned about sharing the pier and marina with other families but meeting and enjoying people from all over turned out to be one of the best parts of the trip. That being said, we never felt like we had lack of privacy. Mr. Mitchell was a wonderful host. Again, highly recommend this Villa and already counting the days to next summer!

The villa is very comfortable and had all the amenities of home. It is kept very clean and Mr. Mitchell is a welcoming host who is available to answer any questions regarding the area or to address any concerns.
We recommend the Mitchell's villas and would love to return to this little "hammock" for another peaceful retreat.
