About this house rental
The maintenance free house is located on a bluff at the end of a dead end street with plenty of parking. It has all new carpeting, hardwood floors, ceramic tile flooring, and new maintenance free decking. It has all city services, including water and sewer. It borders a forever wild area. The lawn extends to the magnificent Great Lake, the view across Lake Ontario is endless as Canada is 66 miles away. Be sure to bring your camera as the sunsets are spectacular! The Oswego Light House is viewable from the Lake front Yard. The shoreline features multi-colored stones of all sizes and the lake has a sandy bottom 25' from shore. We maintain a walking path through the forever wild area of the woods which leads to the waters edge.
In 2019 we completed the installation of a Cedar Split Rail Fence with several gates, it completely surrounds the side and Lake front area of the house, so if you plan to bring your fur babies they will now be safely fenced in.
In 2020 we added all new Granite Kitchen Counter tops and renovated the 2nd bathroom.
We have a cleaning person and a lawn service that do a spectacular job keeping the house and grounds in tip top shape. Our trusted Property managers, Walt & Cynde live 5 houses away so if anything is ever needed they can be there in a few minutes notice. Once you secure your booking I make the lines of communication open, you will get my cell phone number and I am available 24/ 7 during your stay. We strive to do everything in our power to make your stay as fabulous as it can be. We encourage you to reach out to us during your stay if you should need anything, again, we want you to have the BEST vacation ever!
The house sleeps 8 (8 MAX) with two official bedrooms, the "Master" suite has one king bed, dressers and with a FULL bathroom connected to it. The "Guest Room" has one queen sized bed and a dresser. There are three twin beds in the "Kid Zone" area and one Twin bed with a Twin Trundle bed that rolls out from under the frame in what we refer to as the "Office" area. There are two full baths including the one in the master bedroom and the other is just off the kitchen/ dining room area in the main part of the house. The 25' X 10' room with the three twin beds has large windows, tv, games and a ceiling fan... we call this room the "Kids Zone". There is another smaller room with a desk (office area) and built in storage with a Twin Bed and a Twin Trundle Bed. There is a full kitchen stocked with everything you will need to cook with. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer, a dining area that seats 8 and a living room with two couches and a gas fireplace that separates the living space into two areas also with a flat screen TV. There are ceiling fans throughout, there is also central AC/heat throughout, however we find that even in the warmest months there's always a nice breeze at the lake. There are large sliding glass doors that lead to the all weather decks that surround the lake front/ and side of the house. One small side deck off the dining area is 6' X 6' and the large deck facing Lake Ontario is 25' X 12', that deck adjoins another deck area that has panoramic views of both the Lake and the forever wild, side yard . From there, it is only steps away to an enclosed (screens and windows) gazebo with a ceiling fan, lighting and electric. There is 4 comfy chairs and a coffee table inside of the Gazebo. There's a fun tiki bar, (find the tiki umbrella in the garage) lounge chairs, and out door furniture that complete the lake facing deck.
The Lake House is very private, it's the last house on a dead end street, yet all services can be found within a three mile radius. There is a Walmart, a Price Chopper, Big Lots, TJ MAXX, and many other stores within 5 minutes from the house if you should need anything.
We purchased the little camp next door in 2021, we are in the process of fixing it up and possibly make it into a future rental. As of right now only family members stay there on occasion. So do not worry, if anyone happens to be there during your stay, we will be respectful of your privacy as we enjoy our own privacy as well. Please feel free to ask me any questions regarding this if you should have any.
The property is pet friendly, but approval must be cleared with the home owner. NOTE: There is a $75.- Per Pet/ Per Stay- Fee should you choose to bring your furry family member(s) on vacation. I do require proof of up to date immunizations, such as rabies ect. Also, your pet should be treated with flea and tick preventative prior to your arrival, and I ask that you clean up after your pet's waste. NOTE: I have tried several times to no avail to edit this page to inform future renters that it is NOT a 5 Bedroom house. For some reason VRBO has it listed as a 5 bedroom home. For clarity, the house has TWO OFFICIAL bedrooms, One King (Master), One Queen (Guest room) and there is an Office area with a desk and also with a Twin Bed with a Twin Trundle bed (2 Twins Total in this area.) And lastly, the Kid Zone area has 3- Twin Beds. TOTAL Bed Count in the whole house is ONE- KING/ ONE QUEEN/ and FIVE TWIN BEDS. Not sure why the website can not correct that but I want to make it clear for you.
NOTE: **** We do have a separate "Rental Agreement" that is attached to the VRBO rental agreement. We ask that any and all Guests please review, initial, sign and return the attached Rental Agreement to the owner prior to check in. .

Gorgeous views from the house and the lovely yard. So relaxing, peaceful and beautiful. Very clean, well equipped. Cooked a few meals in, had everything we needed. One dinner out at Red Fire Roasting Co was terrific and breakfast ate Wades Diner-amazing! Jean was very communicative and accommodating. It was a wonderful experience all around.

My family and I were blown away by this rental.
The home was very clean and the furniture and beds were comfortable, although we spent most of our time on the beach. We didn’t see another person on the beach the entire time we were there. The view from the home can’t be beat. We loved watching the fishing boats in the distance. We had an amazing time and hope to return one day.

The lake house was a great place to relax and reconnect with friends. Its in a perfect middle ground of quiet and out of the way, but also close enough to a nice city with plenty to explore. Jean was also very communicative and helpful with details from start to finish, as well as backup contacts if needed!

We met up with some friends and their kids and had a great stay. The house is set up as to have a "kids wing" which suited us all very well.
We would love to come back again.

Absolutely stunning view of Lake Ontario. House was clean and has had many updates. We were not able to use the extra bedroom with the 3 single beds and the extra sitting/game room as there was a very strong musty odor that was intolerable in there that never cleared out.
About 80% of the musty smell cleared from the main portion of the house after a full day of air conditioner use. However, the smell was still evident every time we left the house and returned. So I think we just got used to it while we were in the house. It was clean but the smell was the reason I gave the cleanliness and overall rating only 3 stars.

We had such a relaxing stay. It was magical just to enjoy the views having coffee in the morning or taking in the magnificent sunsets. The constant, cool breezes and the tranquility was especially delightful. The nature trail down to the shoreline was well-maintained and pleasant. My son loved exploring and searching for the most colorful rocks. House was clean, comfortable , and spacious. Thank you.

This house was very nice, location was incredible. Dead end road, fenced in back yard, an incredible view. The sunsets are fantastic, I've never seen the sun set into the water before. Even thunderstorms were fun to watch. The house worked well for our 2 families. Plenty of space, and privacy. The biggest negative thing for us was the lack of child safety items, exposed outlets, cabinets that can't be locked, and the mixed messaging on cleaning and responsibilities. We got an email that gave us one set of instructions on cleaning and another set of instructions on the refrigerator that were different rules and responsibilities. The mixed messaging was stressful, and confusing. But overall it was amazing, highly recommend, would do it again.

We stayed for the weekend to see family. We had two teenagers who loves kayaking on the lake. The view from the back is gorgeous and the sunsets are some of the best I have ever seen. The house is spacious and clean. Jean was a wonderful host.

The house and property were gorgeous. There is an access path to the lake. We enjoyed the fire pit and playing cards in the gazebo. The kitchen was nice and big and great to work in, especially making meals for 8. Our host Jean was fantastic. She made the process and the stay very easy and very inviting! We look forward to going back.

Owner and property manager couldn't be more attentive.
I'm a clean freak and didn't have to break out any cleaning supplies. The home was spotless.
Looking forward to many more visits!

We had a wonderful stay! The house is very comfortable and well-equipped. The outdoor areas are great! We thoroughly enjoyed the decks, gazebo, and yard. We took a nice stroll through the woods to the stony beach and collected a few beautifully colored rocks. It was not swimming weather however we did see sandy spots to swim from. The lake views from the outdoor spaces and house are exceptional and ever-changing. Storms across the lake were stunning. The sounds and sights of the waves and wildlife are very soothing. The photo/video ops are endless! The side yard view of the forest is also gorgeous! We even saw a juvenile eagle perch in a tree behind the gazebo! The host, caretakers, and groundskeeper were incredibly friendly, responsive, and efficient. Kudos to them all! Overall, this was a splendid experience and we look forward to returning!

We had a great time with no issues. Didn’t hurt that the weather was beautiful. Jean worked with us to add our dog to the guest list last minute.

Our stay at the lake house was great. The views of Lake Ontario are amazing. We loved the fenced in yard for our pup and our kids. We found great restaurants in Oswego and went to the Children's Museum. We also traveled about 30 minutes west to Fair Haven beach for some sand beaches and a great winery (Colloca). Check in process was easy, house was well equipped with kitchen equipment and towels. We had a great week!

This property a lot going for it. It's spacious, clean and very private. It's right on Lake Ontario so you can get to the shore to swim or take a short walk, and the view from the property is fantastic. An added bonus is that you are less than 5 minutes from a grocery store, and not far from restaurants etc. The property is stocked with whatever you might need.

A little piece of heaven.
My family and I had an absolutely wonderful time together at “The Lake House.” It exceeded our expectations. The home was private and comfy. We were close to town where we visited a few landmarks. The boat room as we called it, had everything you needed kayaks, life jackets, tools, games, floats and much more. There were plenty of essentials. We enjoyed the yard and the path to the lake where we kayaked and relaxed on floats for hours. The sunsets were absolutely amazing!! Miley our four legged friend loved running around in the fenced in yard. All in all we had a very memorable getaway. We will definitely go back in the future. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

The views are a lasting memory!
We really enjoyed the views of Lake Ontario. Situated right on the lake high up in s bluff. The sunsets were nothing I'd ever seen before. Amazing. The house was fitted with everything we needed to do anything. Food stores were 5min away which was super convenient. We visited Fort Ontario, Salmon River Falls, Grace Tyler Winery, Ashley Lynn Winery and Hot House Brewery. Had a nice lunch at Rudy's an the lake and take out pizza from GTP. The house is situated pretty remote so not a lot of walking in the area to do. Relax and enjoy the kayaks and a nice fire.

Perfect location
Wonderful house and location. One of the cleanest places we've ever rented. The owner was VERY communicative and available, as were the caretakers just a few doors down. We will definitely come back!

Relaxation and Beautiful Sunsets
The weather didn’t cooperate with us every day but still a great get away. We had some great sunsets and a couple evening fires. An excellent location on the outskirts of town but close to everything needed.

Great Family Weekend
The overall cottage and location was great. It had everything we could ask for. Beautiful setting and the kids loved the access to the water. Everyone loved looking for rocks on the water. The weather was great and beautiful sunsets. There was plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 kids. My grandson left his favorite blanket when we left and the property manager was great and mailed it to us. The whole experience was great and would love to go back in the future.

Beautiful, dog friendly place to relax by the lake
We had the most relaxing trip staying in this beautiful location. The home was clean, comfortable and really cozy. The view of the lake was incredible with lovely sunsets. Having a beach we could walk to and launch our kayaks from was so convenient. The fenced in yard for our dogs made it the ideal place for us to hang-out. Enjoyed the fire pit, relaxing in the hammock and watching a couple bald eagles fly over- so cool! Definitely hope to come back!

60th birthday and family celebration
Jean's beautiful lake house was perfection and had everything we needed! From the moment we arrived, it was nothing but stunning sunsets with total peace and relaxation. My husband, daughter and son-in-law enjoyed the beach area that is accessible from the fenced in yard (which our shih tzu thoroughly loved). Our youngest daughter read one of Jean's many books that were available while relaxing in the hammock. We all had fun playing a game of croquet, enjoyed a peaceful campfire and also the gazebo! Jean was wonderful, she couldn't have been nicer! She was even sure to have a lovely birthday card for me on the kitchen table upon our arrival. Jean was also very helpful with advice on restaurants and favorite things to do in Oswego and the surrounding area. We're planning on a return trip next year, if not sooner! Thanks for everything Jean!
