We loved the property but it had listed a hot tub which it doesn’t have and that was disappointing. The electrical was out on the gazebo so we couldn’t put a fan out there and that would have made it more enjoyable outside for the sunset. More fans would be a plus!
We never did figure out how to get the hot water to work in the kitchen.
Thanks to Steve for the information about pulling curtains in the afternoon, it does help.

Wonderful host, the house has all you need in its own quirky, fun way. Love the extra guest room with separate bathroom across the driveway, good for separate but together feel for multiple families or couples. Host was so gracious with his time and communication on everything! Really wonderful stay and the views and lake access could not have been better!

Perfect Getway
We fell in love with this house. Very clean and amenities offered, it went beyond expectations. It is an open layout with windows all around. Beautiful views of the lake layer out in front of you. The owner landscaped so any views of other residents were instead plants and trees giving a secluded feel. Fishing off the dock or sipping your coffee in the gazebo. Rocking gentally in the swing as you watch the waves lap amd the sun set. It was perfection. Close enough to town for a run to the store, but far enough out there is no traffic to disrupt your peace of mind. Our time at the lakehouse will be one of those memories that will be looked upon fondly until we are able to visit again.
I strongly suggest if you are reading these reviews, look no further and book it. You will have a wonderful time.

Peaceful Retreat
This was a wonderful property for our family to gather and finally hold a memorial for our parents who passed away last year during Covid. The lake, the house, the amenities were all just perfect. The host is super communicative and helpful. Wildlife watching and incredible sunsets every evening made this a spectacular rental. Thank you for everything.

Absolutely Amazing Vacay Home & Fishing!
This large & beautiful home is planted on the side of a lake and has its own pier with great fishing. The sunrise/sunsets are spectacular. Nicely stocked place with all of the amenities, and chatting with the host about fishing was really helpful. We will absolutely be planning on a future visit :) Thanks!

Natures hidden Gem
Charlene and Steve were great in providing amazing experienced staying at this property. We enjoyed every aspect of this magical place. My brother in law and my husband enjoyed fishing right on the lake, captured memories to cherished. The views of the lake from the bedrooms, living room, kitchen and dining room was so beautiful. The serene feeling of watching the sunrise and sunset over the lake was breath taking. I will definitely be booking this magnificent place again! Thank you for the memories!

Great view in a peaceful location
The house was right on the lake just like the pictures show. Steve and his property manager were easy to reach and responsive. We needed a few more towels and the property manager Charlene was quick to respond. She even brought us a hair dryer and shampoo.
We would definitely recommend this house .

Incredible lake stay
We greatly enjoyed this property and our stay. The views of the lake are wonderful and despite many homes around us, it felt private and secluded. The property owner was great to work with and communication was excellent. It is clear he cares about each family having the perfect stay and was a wealth of information about the area. We even ended up extending our stay by a day. We hope to visit again soon!

Great location on Lake Houston
The house in Indian Shores was exactly what we needed for our overflow guests for a long summer weekend. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for everyone. We had two families with young children staying in the house and the only unexpected issue was the location of the second master suite - it is actually in a separate building across the carport which is a bit awkward for those with young children. We made it work and it was not a showstopper - just something of which to be aware.

Nice property on the lake
Our family really enjoyed our stay here. The property was very spacious and the interior was nice and clean. We really loved the large outside deck and patio. The house was equipped with everything we needed and Steve was very responsive and communicated with us to make sure we had everything and knew of all the things in the area to make our stay memorable.

Great lake get-away
We spent a very relaxing week here. My kids (5yo and 8yo) caught their first fish and had a blast. We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and peaceful mornings looking out over the lake. The house is well set up for great views from almost every room. Everything was nice and clean and ready to go. Steve was a great host and quick to provide answers to any questions as well as great tips for enjoying the lake, best fishing, etc. Appreciated the well equipped kitchen and the board games in the front room, as well as the smart TV for easy access to our streaming and music subscriptions. Would definitely visit again. Thanks for a great week!

We enjoyed this property so much! The house is very clean and comfortable! The outdoor space is simply amazing! The views from the house and the deck are gorgeous and the pier is a great place to sit back, relax and fish for hours!

Great Experience!
The property is five stars in our book! From the spacious lake house to the spectacular views and lake access for swimming and fishing, it's a perfect family gathering place. We loved the house with big picture windows overlooking the lake, but our favorite was the big gazebo with hanging lights. It has a porch swing, so you can look at the lake, plus seating for lots of people. The view - sunrises and sunsets - is fabulous. The owner and property manager were easy to work with and answered any questions promptly. It was a wonderful place for our family gathering!

Vacation spot
This place was amazing! Lots of room, beautiful lakeside view. Gazebo to sit under. It was the best place to visit with my son and his family. There was fishing on the pier, a boat dock and the kids loved swimming righ off the backyard. The house had all the furnishings we needed. The neighborhood was nice and everyone we met friendly. I won’t stay anywhere else when we come to visit. Our host supplied linens, soaps, dishes. I could go on and on. You won’t go wrong choosing this place

Clean, organized & peaceful
We had a wonderful time here. It was just what we needed. I loved how clean and organized everything was! All of the labels on the light switches, drawers, and shelves were so helpful. The layout was perfect for family...very open and plenty of seating. We caught a lot of little white bass and catfish on the dock and pier which the kids loved. It had everything we needed, and the owner was wonderful with all of our questions about everything from the house, to even giving us fishing tips! Thank you so much!

Family fun at the lake
We live in NC & came to the Houston area, to visit our family. We loved the house & the view is amazing! The neighborhood is quiet & relaxing. There was plenty of room to have our family come over, for meals & fishing together. We hope to stay there again!

Not fully as described
The house is large the patio is nice. It is on a lake that is true. There is a pool listed as an amenity but it doesn’t Day that the pool is only available during summer months. We rented for the pool so we can cool off after day or before a day of sight seeing. That is a HUGE let down. The property manager was a good communicator prior to check in and before booking etc. even left us a small fishing pole and life jackets. Which is great BUT then would not answer a single text after we got into he house. Not about e water or why we only had 2 bars of soap for 4 people. No hand soap. 4 rolls of toilet paper for 4 people for 9 days! 3 garbage bags and no more after that. Old and scratched up kitchen stuffs. The house was VERY dusty. The pillows cheap and uncomfortable. Overall I wish we had picked a different house to to stay in. Since there were not amenities available to fully use the house. No little boats no cannoes. The pool not available even though listed as an amenity. We left the house cleaner than we got into it, not great. The views are amazing that’s all

Overall, we had a great stay at this waterfront home in Indian Shores. It was exactly what we neede
Pro’s:
The owner (Steve) is great to work with and very knowledgeable about fishing that area.
You will catch fish from the dock – depending on the time of year will likely dictate their size.
There were no neighbors when we were there so it was quiet.
The house has a great view and the deck/gazebo is really nice too.
There is a community pool for use but the day we went to use it there was an event (family reunion).
The house is well equipped and has great Wi-Fi.
Windows in the front room give way to a beautiful view of the lake and sunsets.
Con’s:
If you are sensitive to airplane traffic this could be a problem in the early mornings. The planes are not extremely low but still could be a problem for some.
This could be a Pro or a Con - One of the bedrooms is not connected to the main house. Perfect for a second couple but not if you have small kids.
Although the dock is amazing, the roof makes it difficult for a novice fisherman/woman to cast a fishing pole. Great dock if you are bringing a boat.
I realize it’s difficult to find a home on a lake but we drove 4+ hours to get there and feel it is just bit overpriced for the age of the home when you add in fees, etc. Don’t ask me to take garbage out to the curb if your charging me a cleaning fee.

Family getaway
This is a beautiful property on lake Houston. The sunsets were amazing. Easily accommodated five adults and a baby. Not to far from any events around Houston. The only thing we missed was a hairdryer but it wasn’t a necessity. We did some grocery shopping the first night there to ensure we had breakfast necessities. It would have been nice to have some coffee there so we didn’t have to go to the store that first night. Overall it is an amazing place and we will certainly be staying again

Just what we needed for break close to home.
Lots of room for everyone. Boat lift makes life easy for getting back in quick from time out on the water. The water in the cove where the house is located is very smooth.

Underwhelming. If you have children or a large family or interracial, consider another location.
I thought the owner / I had good communication on bbq gatherings at the property.I should have went with my instincts when I noticed flying confederate flags and difficulty with checking in early, even after I offered to pay an additional night.
I have screenshots of our chats immediately after my booking clarifying a mini hs reunion (all successful college grads from U of H, A&M, and UT), with 4-5 families and a subsequent family bbq the following day.Given we were traveling such a far distance, from CA,we were trying to maximize our time w family & friends & keep the kiddos comfortable at the same time. And his replies saying thanks for the clarification and sounds fun, enjoy!
I had traveled via car w my mom and 2 toddlers,2 & 5. Since they did surprisingly better than expected,we arrived in the morning.I immediately contacted the #s in the vrbo listing & spoke to the prop mgr. The owner still contacted me in a scolding fashion after the prop mgr gave us the go ahead to enter.I explained to him & told him he could verify via cameras & he said he had already done so & it was okay. So I wondered why the grief but okay... he is willing to let us in early and minimize more travel with the tots so seems good!
2 days later, day of mini HS reunion, the prop mgr arrived to come into the home, as I was putting the 2 year old down to nap.My husband let her in since we had nothing to hide. All families except one couple had kids. 5 families, avg 2 parents/2 kids = 20 ppl minimum. But he seemed livid & asked if it was what we had previously discussed & agreed to.I said yes, and again, recommended he review the cameras or let the prop mgr come over. At that point, he stated she had already been over. I don’t get it, but again, he is the owner so trying to provide reassurance...No loud music. No one trashed the place. No one stayed over.
The next day, it unravels. We had less people over... for a bbq. My husband sets up the girls’ fishing poles for fishing that night. Then one of my nieces asks why there are cop cars out front!? What!? The owner was thinking of evicting us. He was basing on # of cars parked & neighbor inputs. Considering some of the neighbors had flags flying,I could see their concerns. That is the only concern they could have had.
Even the cops said they wouldn’t even be staying unless we were planning to be unorderly.
TLDR: vacation ruined. Homeless for several hours in Houston, pregnant and with two tots. Shades of color.

Family 4th of July Vacay
The property was amazing. It has a large barbeque grill which we utilized several times during our stay. The large driveway can accommodate several vehicles at once. Peaceful nights and beautiful days. The private dock provided shelter for us to fish on rainy days. Steve was nice and shared many tricks of the trade with my family. Only experienced a slight issue with the water heater during the stay.

Buffalo Bob's Place
We were in town for a family wedding in Kingwood and really enjoyed our Home Away stay at "Buffalo Bob's" place. The house, the yard and the scenery were perfect. Steve was especially helpful and responded promptly and pleasantly whenever we called. The home was very clean, had everything we needed and included many little extras that made our stay convenient and hassle-free. We felt quite lucky and thrilled to spot on several occasions a mother otter a her four darling babies frolicking on the dock. The gazebo and the fish pond were lovely. Thank you Steve and Shawna! With much gratitude, The Hall Family

Wonderful Anniversary Getaway
My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary here and we had a wonderful time. The house is really nice and the outside area is like a spa. The water fountain and rock waterfall really create a relaxing atmosphere. You can tell there's alot of love put into this place and the attention to detail is very nice.
We fished off the dock and caught white bass and catfish all during our stay. Frozen shad was the winner for bait. You should consider bringing flashlights or a head lamp for night fishing as there is no overhead light.
The smart TV was great and we were able to watch anything we wanted from our own accounts.
We would have given a 5 star rating except for the hot water heater having issues while we were there. But, the property manager responded right away and was very professional and friendly. We have heard that the hot water heater is fixed now. The owner was extremely apologetic and commensated the issue.
We really enjoyed our stay and took video for family. We will definitely return for a future trip with family.

I am a native Houstonian, living across Lake Houston and never thought there would be such a GREAT place to retreat to so close to home!! The house is fully stocked and organized perfectly for anything you need. The 60s architecture is just awesome. It’s a house where you can have fun inside or out. The 3 walls of windows and sliding doors allows for a spectacular view. You can see the sunset from that living area or from the gazebo. The house is extremely well taken care of and there isn’t a place where you are not comfortable. It was comfortable for 4 adults and 5 children. One of the best things was to catching and eating our dinner! We will make it a point to book a few times a year!

Amazing amazing trip. The owner was very supportive even cleaned up the entire property a day after a major thunderstorm to make sure we could come and visit. The property is the best I've seen in over ten years. I cannot brag on this place enough!

We just spent five nights at this property with 10 people and had a great experience. The home is older but has had many renovations and made for a very comfortable stay. It was well stocked with basic nessesities... towels, dishes, soap, etc. It is very clean, well kept and organized with labels reminding us which switches turn on which lights. Small touch that was appreciated. The view from the great room is spectacular... the pictures just don’t do it justice. The gazebo was great for enjoying the views outside while it rained. The grounds are also well maintained. Huge beautiful mature trees that provide a lot of shade. Kids had fun running around outside on the grass with soccer / footballs. We didn’t get in any fishing this trip but we enjoyed kayaking and swimming off the deck. Steve was great to work with and very communicative. Overall, a fantastic deal when comparing prices to two hotel rooms. Would absolutely recommend and would return without question if we find ourselves in Houston again.

We certainly didn't pick the best weekend for a lake trip, but the weather didn't stop us from having a great time. The house is very inviting and the living room is simply amazing...tons of windows overlooking Lake Houston. There's also a smart TV that let the kids watch their Amazon and Netflix videos when it was just too cold to go outside. When you do get outside, there is a ton of deck space and a huge covered gazebo perfect for taking in the lakeside birds. Sunday was warm enough to get a little fishing in from the private pier. We managed a land a nice catfish, a little more than a pound or so.. And lots of big bites that got away...
The house is clean and everything we needed was available to us. I especially liked the private and separate bedroom with bathroom off of the main house. It made for a nice place to nap away from the hustle in the house. We're definitely looking forward to going back in warmer weather.

This was a 5 day trip with 5 guys. We were all grateful for the massive covered deck. It rained most of the time we were there. The view from inside is so great that we didn't even care. There were so windows that were so big that it felt like we were outside. We spent the rainy days eating outside on the deck. I'm not sure what type of floor this was but I only see this floor in skyscrapers. I'm giving this 5 stars because even though it rained and kept us inside, we all felt as if we had spent the weekend outdoors.

The space was good for 2 couples and kids. Pictures do not do it justice. It was nice that all linens and pillows were provided. The washing machines were nice, soap and fabric softener were stocked. In 10 days the only time we used our car the store was only 5 minutes away. This place only had 1 television. I want more TVs when I'm on vacation. Even so, this place still deserves 5 stars. We will recommend and we will be back.
5.0 / 10.0
We have stayed in several different homes in Houston. This is the best. The lakeview is unreal, and entire outdoor area is first class. The same can be said for the interior.
5.0 / 10.0
The front isn't much to look at, but the inside and the back are like no place I've ever stayed. The house is much higher than the lake, so the living room is like a climate control viewing platform. I was expecting some windows, except there is nothing but windows. Hardly any wall space. My kids said they feel like they were in a treehouse.
The kitchen is top notch. My kids watched me make nachos from the bar in the kitchen. The washer and dryer are nicer than mine at home.
Good customer service too. At one point we lost the key. Property manager called me back within 10 minutes to tell us where the spare was hiding.
My family and I stayed here with another family. There were 9 of us altogether. This was so much better than staying in a hotel.
5.0 / 10.0
Having rented several houses, I found this one to be, hands down, the best. The layout of the property and the 2 master bedrooms had plenty of private space for everyone.
The kitchen was perfect for a chef. My brother, the chef, cooked the fresh fish we caught of the end of the pier. Lots of counter space and good lighting.
We have a family fishing competition every year. We did a lot of fishing off the pier. Almost everyone caught a fish. Some of us caught big ones. The only complaint that entire week was that there was no railing on the pier. Some of our older group wanted a railing.
Everyone spread out and did their own thing in that middle of the day. Watching the waves from the living room was my favorite part. It put me into nap mode.
There was plenty of parking for our 3 cars. I have already booked this property for next year. It was perfect for our group.
