Lincoln City is prime territory for tidepooling and beachcoming, and every year between October and May, handmade glass floats are hidden along this seven-mile stretch of coast, all with the intention of getting visitors to interact with the terrain. Crabbing and clamming are also popular here, as is sailing on Devils Lake, surfing at Nelscott, and hiking at Cascade Head. Lincoln City is home to many casual and fine dining options, as well as Chinook Winds Casino and ample festivals.

We were very excited for our get away, this condo was perfectly located. I wish it had more chairs on the balcony to enjoy the ocean view (there was only 1) which the view is what sold us on this place.

We had a family of 14 that rented the Main level of The Whale. Upon entry, we were welcomed by a dirty rag and someone’s old soda bottle. The add claims it slept 14, but there were only beds for 12. No futon, and the couches were smaller than advertised. One of the sheets on the beds were dirty. The fridge, oven and dishwasher were falling apart. The biggest disappointment was how gross the furniture was. I did not expect the exact furniture in the photos, as I imagine they wear in time and need replaced, but these were filthy, stained, and some of it smelled of urine. I thought maybe they were replacing furniture using second hand items, but I don’t think you could even sell that table at Goodwill. It was awful, and hidden under a terribly gross table cloth. On more than one occasion, we had other guests just walk right into our front unit and ask us if we were the office, then wanted us to tell them where it was. There needs to be better signage informing guests that this was a private entrance. You hear every step made in the unit above us as if tenants are stomping due to thin floors. The lower unit had a smoke alarm going off, and the smells and smoke wafted up to us. We went to search for the on site fire extinguisher and only found some outside, around the corner and up some stairs in the main hall. That is unacceptable in an event of a fire! The children from downstairs kept running up to our level, knocked loudly and ran back down stairs several times. Some (not all) renters with dogs were totally happy leaving their dog droppings in the small courtyard for all kids to play and step on. The non smoking rule is completely disregarded and someone’s marijuana smoke was being blown into one of our bedrooms. The kitchen chairs were broken where the seat is. The dishwasher leaked onto the floor. The fridge has broken shelves. You can tell that the housekeeping is kept to a minimum. Stains on the ceilings, food stains and fingerprints all over walls and cabinets. Extreme dust on floor boards and under beds. There were 2 police vehicles and a K-9 unit right outside our unit the first night, we think due to our upper neighbors.
It was definitely roomy and had the most amazing view. The beach access was pretty good (for the young and viral) but be ware of the effort it may take for the elderly or mobility impaired. There is a large washout area with jagged rocks to maneuver and then a fairly steep climb back up. There is so much potential here that is being lost.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Whale Main. Very clean and comfortable condo. Pretty well set up kitchen, though the ice maker wasn't working in the fridge. The dining room table needs some serious love..
The laminate has separated in many many places making it impossible to clean effectively.
The absolutely hands down best part is the amazing view!! We sat on our deck each afternoon and watched the whales just off the coastline. The beach is a short walk down some stairs and a couple of short stretches on the roadway. This is a busy location with lots of families and larger groups. If you are bothered by happy families having fun... this property would not be for you. We enjoy hearing children having fun living their best life... didn't bother us but we did notice. Quiet hours were enforced so our evenings were very relaxed. Would definitely stay again! Buy a new table.......

Not clean or well stocked
Dirty. Not enough toilet paper for our short stay. Not stocked well for the group size. No detergent for the dishwasher. No bedding on two of the beds. Only one pod for the washer to wash towels. No garbage bags. WiFi didn't work even though we unplugged as instructed. No one to help with our problems.

Beautiful Views, but Loud
Breathtaking views from the living room kitchen and master bedroom. Plenty of towels and kitchen supplies for all of us. Unit was not cleaned well with garbage behind dressers, dog hair on window ledges and who knows what on bedroom walls. No blinds in the kitchen or living room which gave other units full view into our unit at all times. Neighbors above us were extremely loud and you could hear every time they walked and when their children ran. Very challenging when working from the unit during the day.

Dirty
This property was dirty. Dirt and hair in the beds and on the floor. Dishes in cupboard were dirty had to wash them so we would have clean dishes for our stay.

No heat in one of the rooms
I was a little disappointed to stay at this place. The heat in one of the rooms was really not working and partially working in another. Coffee maker was left broken and not reported. The people above us had a dog that was left unattended and it was howling. Then one of the people came down into are rooms from upstairs looking for the bathroom. I am not sure how that happened. But having a stranger come into a locked door is weird, and sort of creepy.

Great Condo!
This condo had great views of the ocean, was plenty large enough for many people.
The cons were as follows:
Extremely loud upstairs and downstairs neighbors, walls are quite thin so lots of noise passes through.
The condo floor could use quite a bit heavier cleaning. Feet were black after walking around.
Other than those inconveniences, the condo is a fantastic price, beautiful views, easy walk down to the ocean, and very close to town.

Needs updating
It met our needs but needs some attention. It is very warm down. Sometimes child wrote in the walls When we arrived the floor was covered in sand and very dirty, there were dishes in the dishwasher and wet linens in the dryer.

Nice stay overall
The t.v. was tricky. We tried to fix it upon arrival; had to wait for the maintenance guy the next day. Finally we were able to watch some local news channels and shows/movies to settle in for the night.
It was hot and the windows don't open. No ac or fan. The grill is shared I guess. Safety issues... the kitchen table chair has screws coming up from under the legs! Caught on jeans and ripped.
The occupants upstairs were incredibly loud until 5 a.m.
Lastly the pictures need to be updated because it's deceiving once you actually see the place.

I loved that this place had enough space for me and my big family and the view was the best part! We will definitely try to stay at this place again in the future!

Disappointed
I’ll start with the pros: availability last minute, great ocean view, location to the beach, washer/dryer in unit, and dishwasher to clean as you go. Cons outweighed the pros for our Whole family. Filthy from the front door and through out the house. Everything from stains, food/crayons on the walls, to a used bandaid on the floor, to wads of hair in the bathroom and in our beds, all found as we walked in. My husband found a dead roach on the Kitchen table as we brought food in from the car and a garbage bin filled with dirty diapers outside on the deck. Not sure it was even cleaned before we arrived. We spent our first few hours washing and sanitizing the place instead of enjoying our vacation. Most rooms had at least one broken fixture, if not a broken piece of furniture. This was not a comfortable place to stay for our family. We couldn’t walk on the floor barefoot without socks/shoes because our feet turned black. No way they were sanitized. We had a 8 months old who we wouldn’t let crawl on the floor due to the grime so we searched for a spare blanket in one of the rooms. We opened both blankets only to find them both full of hair; both human and animal. There’s no way they were washed. Lastly, the windows had no locks or screens. Safety should be a priority in any rental. We would of appreciated some curtains to shield the bright sun. It was difficult to enjoy with no Curtains or fans...One of the chairs had two screws poking out of the chairs so we isolated the chair from the children to prevent injuries. I took several photos to provide if needed. Not worth the price and I will be posting on other traveling sites. Overall, would not recommend and will not go back.

Not the best
Great view! Comfortable beds. Nice to have a fireplace. Some of the bedrooms were very hot and stuffy and no way to open the windows in those rooms. Floor was filmy and did not look or feel clean. Kitchen had only 5 forks and 5 big plates...not enough for the 7 adults and 5 kids we had staying there and a handle was broken off one of the pans. Couches pretty worn out.

Awsome view
The view from the living room, kitchen and deck is awsome. There are no extra blankets so bring some for your confort. No waffle maker to be found, they had to bring us one and unfortunately that took over 45 minutes, so pancakes it was. The living room furniture is very tired and hard to get out of once you sit down a d the dining room chairs you could feel a hole your butt sank into on all the chairs. The ice maker did not work so be prepared to buy ice. It is quite a large home with the 5 bedrooms and the 3 bathrooms and very close to the dory cove restaurant one of our local favorites, all in all i would rent again but i would know what to expect and call ahead to ensure the waffle maker is there as advertised 🙂

Images online did not meet reality
We arrived and the front door was unlocked w keys inside condo, and the doors to the other levels where other occupants were all unlocked so we could access their place, and their dog tried to come up to our space. There was no dishwasher detergent, so we had to call for management to come secure the floors and provide supplies. The noise level was high from the upper level and lower level and the car traffic and lights driving into the parking lot if you slept in the front rooms. The location was right on hwy 101 and not ideal for a relaxing night sleep. We had 3 people come through our front door thinking we were the front office, and a pizza deliverer. The positive: view was nice!

Fun for the whole family!
All decked out(or it could be called all staired out!!!!LOL(it is 4 floors))is a very great vacation rental. What we liked: Lots of separate space, decent view, you can hear the ocean and see the waves, great living/kitchen area(it is all one large space), great decks, room setup was great for us as we have 8 kids, and another couple came with us as well, 3 blocks walk to outlet mall, pretty quiet street, short walk to the beach(downhill- so uphill back). We would totally stay again. Never could get the whole house speaker system to work, or the steam shower in the master bathroom, but other than that completely met or exceeded our expectations.

Nice, clean, updated condo with wonderful view!
Nice, larger condo with plenty of room for all! Great family vacationing and meeting spot with decently large kitchen and living room area. Nice, updated bathrooms (3). Updated appliances and washer and dryer makes doing laundry easier during your stay. Definitely would go back. Beautiful view from the deck overlooks sunset over the ocean!

view was spectacular. we were close enough to beach to walk there a couple of times a day. Rooms were roomy and plenty of bedding and soap etc. Could use a little freshening up was very dog smelly when I got there but opened doors and windows and aired it out and it was ok.

Great Customizable House for Big Groups
My extended family of 25 just had a family reunion in this property and the floor below it (Whale Upper and Whale Main). It was really difficult to find a house that accommodated my family, but this one fit the bill nicely. The rooms are various sizes and include different size beds so families can stay in one room really easily. Lincoln City is a great location on the Oregon Coast because of it's central location. It's easy to go up north to Tillamook, south to the sand dunes, and east for the wine! There was plenty to do for all ages, including going to the beach. It is only a few hundred feet away from the house, but it's a fairly steep walk down. Other than that, the house is clean, the kitchen is well stocked, the beds are comfy, and the view is absolutely outstanding.
