Very nice location to get to multiple activities. Owners very nice and available if needed. Place has what you need at a reasonable cost

To start, the location is amazing and the hosts seemed really friendly and nice. Staying in the old school house sounded cool but was less charming than I thought it would be. The smell in the hallway is terrible, the beds were uncomfortable, there were lots of little bugs in the room (ants, spiders, beetles), and the floors were dirty. Dirty enough that we all ended up wearing sandals in the room. We enjoyed our time but probably wouldn't stay again.

Quiet, historic building close to everything in the town of Marine on the St Croix…several dining and gift options, art gallery, library and quaint post office in this river town settled in mid 1800s. The paintings and photographs on the walls of the unit added so much value.

The hosts are amazing & their little place is too. Great location, quiet, a perfect spot for what I needed for a week. The place was clean, well furnished (cute too!), many comforts of home. I needed a couple of things during my stay and the owner resolved them within a few minutes. I would recommend this to friends, family, anyone looking for a cozy little spot.

Stayed here once before and came back for a short business stay while I was working in the area. Location is again great and close to a fair bit of attractions in the area. Internet is still on the slow side, so for work it wasn’t the best. But, that’s totally fine! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a convenient place to stay in the area.

David is a wonderful host that’s there if you need him but doesn’t feel the need to be involved with more than you require. We loved getting to check in to such a nice, calm, safe, and clean space for almost 7 weeks!
We will be back and we will be sending others their way!

Very comfortable and convenient to my family and yet easy to step away and not be under foot. Glad to have the refrigerator as the turkey stayed there until Thanksgiving day. Looking forward to my next visit in a couple weeks.

Renter beware~stay away from this property.
The property is dated, dirty, and not representative of the pictures on VRBO. Aside from a place to sleep, the space in uncomfortable, the bathroom was dirty, and the shower was like a power-washer~~had to strategically move in fear of losing a nip. My husband and I also came home with bites from all over our bodies, I can't confirm bedbugs, but it was from the bed. The TV did not work, and the wifi was horrible. The only thing that this place has to offer is the cute little town, Marine on the St. Croix. We spent way to much for three nights, which was a rip-off, I asked the owner for a small refund, and they will not respond. My family told me I could never choose a location again.

Good overall
Very clean & quiet. I stayed during a few very cold winter days/nights & electric baseboard heat struggled to keep cozy warm temp inside unit. Property manager very responsive & accommodating. Very cool historic General Store with home style bread bakery. The town has a 100+ year old horn/siren that can go off in middle of night, which can be startling. Would be a fun place during summer months to take in more of the town & surroundings.

Extremely cozy place in a convenient location.
Very conveniently located to get easy access to different points of interest of State Parks and NPS St. Croix Scenic River. Building smells a little smokey at times, but individual unit has no smell and is pretty cozy for travel or work.

Cozy spot in a great location
My daughter and I stayed here for a week to be close to a camp she was attending. The place was perfect for us - it was very clean, cozy, across the street from cute shops (we loved the ice cream shop), and the internet worked well so I was able to work all week. The hosts were very responsive to our questions/requests. We would stay here again.

Exactly as expected
Worked well for a girls weekend when we did I not want to stay right in Stillwater. Right between Stillwater and the state parks we wanted visit, so perfect location. Beautiful winery just a couple miles north. Walking distance to a nice bar and grill and a coffee shop.
Property could use a bit of outside work, many weeks and long grass. And a musty smell in the hallway leading from the back lot, very bad on hot day. But inside the apartment was well kept and clean. Overall what we expected.

Marine on St Croix
We appreciated the location of this property within the larger St Croix river area. It was a great place to start adventures in Stillwater, William O'Brien State Park, Osceloa WI, and Taylors Falls MN.

This unit, #1, was perfect for our girls weekend!
The property rental process was very easy and went smoothly. The owners, David and Robin, communicated frequently with us and were great to deal with. We would definitely recommend unit #1 at this property.

Great location!
I spent a week at the School House property, and it was an ideal spot to base for exploring the St. Croix River area. The property was clean and had everything I needed. You can walk to everything in Marine on St. Croix. (I especially liked the General Store!). Stillwater is just 10 minutes away, and two state parkes are just a short drive up Hwy 95.

Marine visit
We enjoyed our stay. The front patio is very uneven, tripping hazard. The patio needs to be blown off of debris. The first step in the front is loose. To walk from the rear parking area the hallway is terribly musty smelling. We enjoyed seeing the deer and bunnies!

Perfect
I went in the off-season for a writing retreat. The place was perfect, the internet access Zoom capable, and the local general store staff bent over backward to be helpful.

Always love our stay
My mom and I stay here when we visit my brother and his family in Marine and ALWAYS enjoy our stay ❤️ Great location to the General Store, the park and Brookside when they’re open. The personal touches they do to make you feel at home are super thoughtful too!

Great place right in town that I used as a base for a weekend of hiking. Close to William O Brien, Interstate, and Wild River state parks. Owners were very accommodating. Will stay again!

Unique, picturesque village
I can’t recommend Marine on St. Croix highly enough. Visited from Boston and reminded us of Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard, but with Minnesota flair and history. Condo basic but met all our needs. Very clean and convenient. We hope to visit again.

Review
I enjoyed staying here but wouldn’t come back do to the lady bug infestation and poor WiFi connection and well water. My friend and I stayed here to watch a conference and experienced a lot of buffering due to the poor WiFi connection. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

Cute town
We enjoyed staying in this adorable town off the beaten path for the weekend. The property was great for our needs and super close to the cute little downtown. Definitely an older property, reminded me of an apartment I had in St. Paul in my early 20's so that was kind of neat. Hosts were very nice and accommodating. The floors really could use an upgrade. Early March and there were quite a few ladybugs that had taken up residence but other than that, would stay here again.

Quiet Retreat
The School House Apartment was really quiet, had great water pressure with plenty of hot water, and firm beds. The kitchen was functional, but a little tired. The humidity has been hard on the wood finishes, what you’d expect from an older MN summer home. We appreciated the shampoo/conditioner and hair dryer provided. Coffee and a hodgepodge of grocery we’re also provided. Some tea bags would have been a nice addition. Kitchen could also use salt and pepper shakers and tongs.

Perfect location for a home base to explore Twin Cities & Stillwater
My husband and I had never been to Minnesota and originally had planned to stay in Stillwater. It was rather expensive since Lumberjack Days was in full swing. Instead I found this apartment in nearby Marine on St. Croix. What a charming little town! I enjoyed shopping at general store and we had a great meal at Brookside Bar & Grill. It was also easy access to Stillwater (which is also charming) and the Twin Cities. David, our host, made sure we had everything we needed. We learned what Minnesota Nice meant. We would definitely recommend the place. My only suggestion would be to add ottomans for the living room chairs to be more comfortable.

We stayed for four nights while visiting friends in Marine on St Croix. The property is centrally located - two minutes from the General Store and the very friends Brookside Inn. It has its own private entrance and very convenient parking - the arrival instructions were perfect. Inside the property is clean and well equipped with modern furniture and though still has a rustic atmosphere being situated in a 19th Century schoolhouse. All necessary amenities are provided. Very highly recommended.
