Our home is situated high on the hillside above Punta Melones Beach, overlooking the bay to the east and the ocean to the south and west. The location of the house affords you the cooling breezes of the Caribbean and the views from sunrise to sunset.
As this is our family’s second home we have taken special care to make it very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. The open floor plan of the inside as well as outside living spaces allows for true relaxation. As we are designers we have brought to the house wonderful original artwork and the quality of the furnishings is uncompromised.
Every room has a ceiling fan so you can sleep to the sound of the sea and awaken to the song of the birds. However, if you feel the need all the bedrooms are air conditioned for added comfort.
KITCHEN:
The kitchen is a custom chef’s kitchen with top of the line appliances. The propane stove has two ovens one small and one large for different cooking needs. Above the stove their is a microwave/exhaust fan. The large capacity side by side refrigerator/freezer holds enough to keep the family happy and is complemented with a water dispenser and an icemaker. There is an abundance of cabinetry that houses everything that is needed. The cherry wood and the tiled counters create a professional look that is only outshined by the beautiful Le Creuset and Revere cookware and the unbreakable Cabo dishes and glassware are all easy to wash in the stainless dish washer. In addition to all the utensils required to prepare food there is a newly filled spice rack and generally the basics such as olive oil, etc. Our grandson, Oscar Waldman painted the scene of Cayo Norte when he visited at Christmas.
Off the kitchen is the laundry area and broom closet. The washer / dryer is for your use and is capable of small loads.
FAMILY LIVING AREA:
The seating area is very relaxed with a Seagrass sofa brimming with throw pillows. Four chairs, two Ceylon teak armchairs and two Seagrass wing chairs, add to the conversation or TV watching depending on your wishes. If you need more seating there are two Sanibel benches in the entry hall that can be multi purposed. There are unique compass and rope spool side tables and plenty of interesting lighting. The still life oil painting of flowers by Elizabeth Congdon is a striking contrast to the subtle colors of the upholstery. The Sony TV has surround sound, a DVD player and with the Dish TV there is also Sirius Radio. The French door unit adds light and cross ventilation making for a wonderfully cool place in the shade.
DINING AREA:
The large rustic pine harvest table is surrounded by blue and tan bistro chairs and there are two added counter stools so that you can keep the cook company or seat the kids there to dine. On the wall is a wonderful painting of pears by Katie Trinkle-Legg. The two French door units add so much cooling breeze that you may find it necessary to close them at mealtime.
MASTER SUITE:
King size West Indies canopy bed carved to look like bamboo, with two Barbados bachelor chests, is the focal point of the room. The two wharf scene oil paintings by David Lazarus and the San Juan’s Butterfly People art box create a wonderful room to wake up in. The view out one side is the garden and the other is the ocean.
There is a large closet area as you enter the room.
The bathroom is fully tiled with a double sink vanity with doors and drawers for storage. The walk in shower is complete with a soap and shampoo shelf, a tiled bench and window with the ocean view.
GUEST SUITE:
King size Havana mahogany four-poster bed has intricate turned legs and two Islandia bachelor chests on either side. The dark framed floral oil paintings and the dhories opposite the bed complement the view out the window to the ocean.
There is a closet in the room.
The bathroom is tiled and the vanity has drawers and a door to hold all your needs. The window looks out to the ocean. The walk in shower has a shampoo and soap shelf.
BUNK ROOM:
Two sets of naturally finished maple bunk beds, with clip on lights for after dark reading. There is a closet and two whicker bureaus. The large windows gain a view to the garden. The animal prints on the walls are a bit of folly.
BATHROOM ACROSS THE HALL:
Tile and glass door make the shower in this bathroom unique. The vanity has drawers and a door and the top is tiled. There’s even an ocean view across the hall painted by Loretta Loder.
LANAI DINING AREA:
The Ceylon whitewashed table and chairs are arranged for the view and the breeze to the east and south. The chairs are cushioned for comfort. Seating for 6.
There is a Weber stainless steel propane grill and the tools to BBQ.

Nice family home with room for everyone. Kitchen has everything you need plus a few extras. Pool with incredible views day and during the full moon. Close enough to town and beaches. Bring bug spray as those critters are relentless. The only concern is the house needs a really good spring cleaning and all the screens need fixing and scrubbing
Might help with the bugs and critters getting in.

The Raven's Nest property is fantastic. The house was designed with sweeping views of the ocean and Ensenada Bay, viewed from the porch, living room and bedrooms. Its location is close to town in case you need something, but also far enough away to where you can unwind. The kitchen is very well stocked for those who like to cook their meals. The pool made for a relaxing area to gather, either before or after visiting the islands beautiful beaches. The furniture and beds were super comfortable and the wall were decorated with beautiful art work. Our guest group included two siblings with partners and there was plenty of room to gather but also space for alone time. A third sibling and partner visited for evening meals. It was a wonderful place for a long needed sibling getaway.

Raven's Nest sits high on a hill with jawdropping views to both sunrises and sunsets. We spent countless hours with a coffee or a cocktail watching the boats from the lanai, as our teenagers hung out in the pool or chilling by themselves in one of the many comfortable spots. Keep in mind, this is a real island, not like the tourist islands where the cruise ships land. Getting around the island is roughing it by comparison. You can get some fine dining, but the best part of Culebra is being with the locals and doing what they do; eat in town and go to the beach.
While arranging this vacation, which happened to occur during Holy Week, I had some doubts about whether everything would come together. But with the owner's advice and recommendations, our travel came off without a hitch, and we enjoyed an amazing stay at this gorgeous place.
This must be one of the best properties on the island. But listen. This is an island. There will be critters. There will be a different style of amenity. But the bedrooms are individually air conditioned and very very comfortable, and you'll have everything you need to enjoy yourself.
Every time we wished we had something, we opened a closet and there it was. Beach chairs, umbrella. Here's a travel cooler. Here's a couple of canvas beach bags. Here's the pool guy to clean the filters. Here's a WORKING ice maker for once! World class snorkeling at the bottom of the hill (a 7-minute walk, IF you want to walk back up it). I could go on and on.

A glorious oasis on the Melones hillside! Valerie was very accommodating and responsive! The property was fully equipped for us from kitchen to poolside. We would definitely book here again!

No issues , fit our 8 member family comfortably, clean and well stocked. Rent a jeep due to steep hills. The pool was so enjoyable after a day at the beach!! Loved it and the owner was great!

Culebra is such a beautiful island and this house does it Justice! The views are breathtaking, even from most rooms. The terrace is perfect for both sunrise snd sunsets. The house is well made and well kept. Super comfy beds. Kitchen is the best equipped house we have stayed in any house share program. Also provided beach towels, chairs etc which made our stay even more comfy. Their guide book is also very complete! I was so suprise with everything with Valerie and her house. The whole family enjoyed it, littles and not si little ones. We so enjoyed our stay and magical culebra!

Fabulous
Raven’s Nest was a perfect place to stay on Culebra with my husband and our friends. The setup of 2 master suites made for equal comfort for both couples. The property provides spectacular views from the wrap around porch with the trade winds providing comfortable breezes all day no evening. The kitchen is well stocked to make meals at home occasionally an easy and enjoyable task. The decor is tasteful and comfortable. Most places on Culebra are a short drive, but it was nice to be close to town for access to restaurants and shopping while still being far enough away to give you the essence of privacy.

Great House Great Island
Loved the house. Perfect for our family gathering. The island has so many beaches to explore. Would highly recommend. And yes, you need a jeep to get to the house due to rough pavement - not golf cart territory.

AMAZING Vacation!!!
The minute you walk into Playa Sardines your mouth will drop open with the view. The pool was outstanding, refreshing after swimming/snorkeling at the beach at the bottom of the hill. We saw turtles and all kinds of fish at Melones Beach. There were 5 adults, beautiful bedrooms with really comfortable bedding. We cooked in 3 nights and ate out the rest of the week. Our favorite restaurants were Susie’s #1 (you need a reservation), Harspoons #2 (also reservations), Dingy Dock #3, very busy place go early. We spent our mornings gazing out onto the beautiful blue waters. You are going to LOVE this vacation home, we’ve rented a lot of homes and this one is at the top. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home Valerie.

Another great vacation in paradise!
This was our 15th year vacationing in Culebra! Our stay at Raven's Nest exceeded our expectations! Their were 4 couples in our group and we found the house most accommodating. The view and breezes from the front porch were amazing!! The property is beautifully landscaped and the interior tastefully decorated. Great memories!!

Fantastic villa!
Our extended family of 7 (three generations) just returned from an enjoyable week in Culebra. This lovely house was even better than we expected! The best part about it is the huge shaded deck that wraps around two sides of the house - south-facing and deep, with overhanging roof, there was lots of shade on the deck no matter the time of day. We had fantastic views of the sunset and sunrise from the deck, as it is perfectly situated and high on a hill overlooking the ocean towards Vieques, and several bays. The inside and outside of the villa are entirely on one level, except for the queen (4th) bedroom and pool which are down a flight of steps; this made it easy for the two elderly members of our family to move around comfortably and enjoy the whole house and deck. The inside living-dining area is larger than the pictures make it appear. The large tables outside and inside made family meals enjoyable. The kitchen is fully-equipped with high-quality pans and utensils, spices, and serving dishes - and a large grill on the deck- everything you could want, and much more than the usual rental villa offers. The furnishings throughout the home are of very high quality and beautiful. The décor is tasteful and simple. The artwork is lovely and adds to the beauty of the villa. The bedrooms are spacious and quiet, with good cross-breezes and ceiling fans (there is A/C in all of them but we did not need it). The linens are high-quality, and the house is well-maintained and was spotless when we arrived. Each bedroom has it's own nice bathroom with shower, so we never felt cramped. The pool was refreshing and the teenagers in our group spent a lot of time there.
Although some people rent golf carts to get around the island, you will want to make sure you are able to rent a jeep to get up the steep hill to the villa, as carts are not allowed and are not safe on the hill. The location is well worth it for the incredible views, however. Our best snorkeling was off Melones Beach directly below the villa, and the town, with its numerous restaurants, 2 grocery stores, and bakery, was only 5 minutes away. I highly recommend this villa and Culebra for a relaxing vacation. The owner Valerie, and the housekeeper/property manager Jessie, were both extremely helpful in making sure that our stay went smoothly.

Wonderful Property
We had a very pleasant stay in Culebra. Our hosts were accurate in the description of their property. The house was perfect for our needs. It had everything that we needed for a wonderful vacation.
Do be prepared that then road to get to the property is a little steep, you will want to rent a Jeep. However the payoff is a beautiful scenery you can view from the back lanai.
I would highly recommend this property. The owners do a great job.

Paradise in Culebra
What an amazing week we had!!! The owners were so wonderful to work with and we appreciated their lovely appointed property. The views were spectacular and we enjoyed them over coffee every morning and enjoyed dining alfresco at the outdoor dining table. Every night we would sit and watch the lights of Vieques and look out at the unbelievable stars. The bedrooms had soft sheets and comfortable mattresses and they had refreshing air conditioners as well. My children loved the bunk room and my mother in law wished she had the same mattress at home for the comfort it gave. The abundance of bathrooms made for a relaxed time— not having to share with my mother in law or children makes for a great vacation. The artwork throughout the house made the home feel so personal. I really enjoyed looking at each piece and you definitely felt like you really were staying at a friend’s home instead of a vacation rental. We loved the spacious kitchen and cooked most breakfasts and a few dinners - it was so helpful to have all the things we needed including a dishwasher! The pool was also wonderful— loved how it was down the staircase and the kids weren’t tempted to get in every time they saw it. This house is the idea set up for families. While we didn’t need or use the room off the pool, it would have been perfect had we brought a babysitter or an additional set of grandparents— maybe next time we will! Of course the beaches and snorkeling in Culebra were awesome- it was nice to shower off the sand in the outdoor shower after each adventure. The location was also ideal— we could be snorkeling from Melones in 5 minutes, or super close to town to pick up a pizza from a Heather’s. But— also removed from noises and the only thing you look out and see is stunning landscape. I only wish we had stayed longer. I can’t wait to plan our next trip back to Raven’s Nest. It’s the perfect property for us.

We enjoyed a family reunion of 8 in this beautiful home.
Upon arrival we were taken on a tour of the home. Jessie, the caretaker, was quick to rescue us when we lost power. We really enjoyed the great lanai which had beautiful trade winds blowing almost always. The roads to get there are terrible! We would not recommend a golf cart. We traded ours in for a jeep! we really enjoyed sightseeing and the Beautiful Flaminco beach. we enjoyed taking the ferry to the island. It was well run being very prompt timewise!

Culebra is Magical and the Raven's Nest is Beyond Expectations!
What can I say...the Raven's Nest is absolutely wonderful! Our party of 10 filled it to capacity, but not once did any of us feel we were crowded. The shared spaces - living room, kitchen, lanai/deck area are spacious and so comfortable! The pool is absolutely a fantastic edition to this house! Early mornings on the Lanai sipping coffee watching the sunrise to the East, then a quick drive to the bottom of the hill you are on Melones Beach (which has one of the best snorkeling spots on the island). By mid-morning head out to the the beach of the day (my favorite is Zoni). Spend the day playing in the waves. Grab a bite for a late lunch (Zacos Tacos is delish), then back to the house for late afternoon pool time accompanied by your preferred cocktail of choice (with Rum, of course). Watching the bright blue ocean waves sing and dance from the comfort of your poolside lounge chair - it's perfect. And closing out the day with a finale performance from the sun as it slips beyond the horizon from the west. Dinner at home is easy-peasy - this kitchen is well-equipped, anyone with cooking in their blood would be impressed the cookware, cutlery, and appliances. All but one of our dinners were enjoyed from the comfort of the Raven's Nest! And the Grill!!! What can I say - everyone loves food that has been grilled! My husband and I first came to Culebra 3 years ago on a whim, and quickly fell in love...hurricane Maria left her scars on parts of the island, but she was not able to steal the magic of this enchanted place. We will not be waiting 3 years to return again...and when we do - we will be requesting to spend our stay at the Raven's Nest - thank you Valerie and Rick for sharing your home with my family!

Great location, views, and amenities. Clean, roomy, comfy, and well appointed
Just back from nine nights at Raven’s Nest with my wife and two other couples. The property is as advertised: offers amazing 180-degree unobstructed ocean views, a wonderful, welcome breeze from the veranda, and a spa-like outdoor pool setting. The kitchen is well appointed, and the dining area offers plent of seating for a large family or group. Living room area was comfortable (though the couch is not ideal for napping), and the entertainment system is a nice touch for relaxing at home.
Other highlights our group were particularly pleased with included the outdoor grill, outdoor shower for post-beach rinse, beach chairs and umbrellas, cooler, and clean drinking water from the tap. Comfy seating on the veranda, interesting art on the walls, large and clean bathrooms, plenty of plates, glasses, cookware and counter space were also notable.
The location is ideal: convenient for a quick trip to the store or shops, but far enough away so that you have complete privacy and quiet.
Book your Jeep and your stay at Raven’s Nest today, you won’t be disappointed. We would (and likely will) absolutely return again some day.
FInally, the owners, booking procedure, and check-in/out were easy and pleasant. The local property manager is super friendly and helpful. The deposit is certainly warranted given the quality of the property, and was promptly returned after check-out.
I recommend this property. Go visit Culebra and experience next-level beaching!!

The views! The pool!
We are frequent travelers and would rate Raven's Nest as one of the nicest, best located, and real value of all the places we have stayed. We were a family group of eight and found everything to be to terrific. We spent hours on the " L" shaped gigantic deck overlooking downtown Dewey (watching the ferry arrive and depart), Luis Pena, and the entire length of Vieques, as well as Ceiba on mainland Puerto Rico. The house is very clean, modern, and had everything we needed to feel at home (if we had a pool! and those views at home!). The beach towels, the beach chairs & cooler were an incredible plus! It's very close to snorkeling & swimming at Melones beach and very near (by jeep) to downtown Dewey. Communication was great with the owner as well. LOOK no further, BOOK NOW.

So great to be back!
Two years away from both Villa Raven’s Nest and Culebra was too long. We were so excited to get back after the hurricanes and see that the villa and the island had weathered the storms without major damage. While there are many businesses just beginning to reopen the island is as beautiful as ever and the beaches are still the best.
We had an amazing time snorkeling with the turtles fish and coral, exploring new areas of the island, beach combing, body surfing Flamenco and Zoni, just chilling at home, playing in the pool, discovering new businesses and seeing the damage from the hurricanes.
The house is the most perfect place to relax, that view will never get old and my morning coffee is not the same anywhere else. I could have used at least another two weeks there but we sadly had to return to work and school but we will make sure we don’t go another two years before returning. The island really needs you so please help them and chose Culebra for your next vacation.

Culebra is back and all is well!
If you are contemplating a Caribbean vacation Culebra and Raven's Nest is where you want to go!
First the house is more splendid than shown in the photos. We loved every minute on the lanai enjoying morning coffee or our rum drinks after a great day in the water. My wife loves to cook and the kitchen is totally set up for any "chef". And the pool with that view!!
Each day we went to a new beach location. Whether it was to snorkel or swim there is no shortage of locations on this fantastic island. The fish, coral and turtles were outstanding. We even lucked out on witnessing a leather back turtle hatch on Zoni Beach. Never seen anything cuter than that. Watching those tiny turtles waddle to the ocean as if they had done it the year before. What a delight!
The island has power and water and most restaurants and stores are taking credit cards. (It's still a good idea to bring some cash though)
Valerie lowered the rental rate temporarily as we are asked to conserve energy. So the air conditioners are only run at night. (Which by the way we never used them anyway as the air at night was so soft and cool) And some minor hick-ups like the dishwasher was damaged by the power fluctuation during the two hurricanes. But to be honest those are minor problems, when you are there to enjoy all the beauty the island has to offer.
This is our second stay at Raven's Nest and we are already planning our next trip, as Culebra is now our Go-To vacation spot.

Extraordinary Home! It is more beautiful than the photos!
Our stay at Raven's Nest was probably the best family vacation we have had in years. The moment you get out of your car every where you look there is something beautiful to look at. Whether it is the endless view to the water or the way the interior is designed. You can clearly tell that Valerie takes great pride in her home.
The house is furnished very comfortably and the artwork is fantastic. The kitchen was set up as if a professional chef would soon walk through the door. The bedrooms are furnished with gorgeous solid wood beds and bureaus. The bedding and towels are super luxe.
We spent most of our time, when not snorkeling all the great spots, on the shady lanai. Morning coffee watching the sun rise and evening cocktails watching the sun set. You can enjoy a good book during the day if you want to just sit there and watch the grand kids swim in the pool.
WE WILL DEFINITELY BE RETURNING TO RAVEN'S NEST. Thank you to Valerie and Rick

Fantastic
Enjoy Breathtaking views of the ocean and harbor from very comfortable seating on the spacious deck. Have your breakfast on the outside dining table, very peaceful! Views from the master bedrooms are incredible. Large indoor dining room table and open living room, with views. Bedding seemed new and very comfortable with king sized beds. Kitchen stocked with plenty of dishes , pots, pans, large cooler. Beach chairs and beach towels were great. The pool was great for a dip after the beach. An unbelievable house. Ok, the ONLY reason why I didn't give it a 5 star. the pool was not treated while we were there. By the 3rd day, it started to turn yellow. We didn't swim in the pool after the 3rd day. There are chairs by the pool, but, no lounge chairs. There were no "glass," wine glasses. We like to have nice wine, in glass, not plastic wine glasses. We bought some wine glasses and left them there. There are no hand towels for the bathrooms. (buy paper towels). they don't provide hand towels. Very limited kitchen hand towels, bath towels and face clothes. However, the caretaker bought two more bath towels for us. We were told because previous renters used all the hand towels to wipe up early little spill. However, there is a washer and dryer, if you want to do laundry. There are no screens in the master bedrooms. I think because it would obstruct the unbelievable views, but it does get buggy. The owner was very nice to deal with and very professional. If you rent this house, you will love it.

Fantastic family vacation villa
Our family spent Christmas week at Raven’s Nest. We were looking at Culebra after an old friend from San Juan recommended it. When we saw the Raven’s Nest listing, I'll confess to some doubts along the lines of, It’s too good to be true! but it turned out to be even better.
It’s a beautiful house, thoughtfully laid out. There were 7 of us, ranging in ages from 5 to 80, and we fit right in with room to spare. It’s very tastefully decorated, and the art, which they have obviously chosen very carefully, is many notches above what you see in typical vacation rental homes, to say the least. Everything is clean and comfortable, and the kitchen and bathrooms are well-equipped.
We soon settled into a routine of going to the beach in the morning (we checked out four of them - liked or loved them all), and relaxing by the pool or on the veranda in the afternoon. The view is spectacular and between that and the breeze, life on the veranda is pretty much perfect.
We split dinners pretty evenly between going out and staying in. The kitchen has everything we needed to make dinner at the house, and we made good use of the Weber grill on the veranda. We really enjoyed the two restaurants we went to, Mamacita’s and El Eden, both very close by.
The owner, Valerie, is very quick to respond to emails and very helpful. Jesse, her local representative, is friendly and also really helpful. Not that I can remember any of the trivial things we needed help with. Frankly, everyone we met in Culebra was friendly.
We were all very reluctant to leave, but we’ll be back!

Superb home base for Culebra family visit
This is the best rental property we have visited, from many perspectives. First the construction is flawless. The kitchen is supplied with every cooking implement you need. The decoration is simple and very tasteful, with unique art works and no 'vacation home clutter.' Best of all are the spectacular views from rooms, the deck and pool area. Additionally, the owner Valerie was highly responsive to our inquiries and very welcoming, and her local representative Jesse was very nice.

Best of the Best...
In 35 years of vacations to the outer Bahamas and the Caribbean, I have searched for best combination of great beauty, comfort, and friendly locals - and this place was everything I'd ever hoped for. The house is beautiful, has an extraordinarily beautiful view, is artfully furnished and decorated, very comfortable, and well equipped. The caretaker and the surrounding community were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We spent lots of time on two of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen...and enjoyed a great deal of body surfing and snorkeling. All 8 of our family came and were clearly pleased to be there. Beautiful surroundings are a balm for the soul. Many thanks Valerie...We'll be back.

Excellent Place to Stay
The moment I walked in the front door I knew I made the right decision to stay at Raven's Nest. The view is breathtaking. We spent most of our time veranda, but the entire house is perfect. The house is clean and plenty of room. The beds are very comfortable. A great place to stay.

Beautiful house and great location
My family of seven adults spent a wonderful week at the Raven's Nest. The house is just like it looks in the photos - beautiful! The view from the veranda was amazing and the breeze kept the bugs away so we could sit outside all evening. We explored and snorkeled at different beaches every day, including Culebrita and Luis Pena. Culebrita is definitely worth a boat ride over, I think the beach is the prettiest one in the Caribbean. We usually picked up a late lunch at Pan Deli and took it back to Raven's Nest ( FYI, they close at 3:00 and we just barely made it on many days). Late afternoons were spent on the veranda or in the pool at Raven's Nest. The house is not far from the town of Dewey which made it convenient to run to the local grocery store, Colmado Milka, for dinner and breakfast supplies. All in all, this is one of the best places we have stayed and will definitely return.

Loving Paradise
It is hard to find fault in a peaceful slow island with amazing beaches. It was hard to find a home that was as nice as this is. I think that the house is much nicer than the pictures being that you couldn't capture the view with any camera it was expansive. Watching the weather come it and then open up to the stars at night... it was a small slice of heaven and we felt away from it all!
The house was a good fit for our family with two younger boys. Raven's Nest was made to be family home with some extra luxuries that other homes didn't offer. All the furniture was new, including the mattresses and pillows, washer and dryer, and nice outdoor furniture in different areas.
The people of the island are nice and the restaurants are improving overall (Dingy Dock was the overall favorite). We went to Culebra looking for beaches and a very relaxed atmosphere and this was it. Thank you to Rick and Valerie for letting us use your home.

fantastic house
What an absolutely perfect house- everything was wonderful, comfortable, clean and functional. Just exactly what we were looking for. Location is awesome- close to town, but no traffic. we toured all over the island and think this is the best location of any possible rental. Kids loved the pool and we loved having the deck and comfortable kitchen.
A note to others, be aware the week before easter is quite a zoo on Culebra. Lots of boats, people on the beaches, and action. Not exactly the sleepy town you read about the rest of the year.
would be a perfectly comfortable place for 2 families with 4 kids too- we're trying to get friends to come back next year with us.
