About this cottage rental
Now reserving for 2025 season! 2 lakefront houses
Come enjoy a true Northern Michigan getaway. The Sleeping Bear Cottages are located on Little Traverse Lake in beautiful Leelanau County on scenic M22. These side-by-side houses have over 100 feet of combined lake frontage. Step out from the living room onto a sunny deck overlooking pristine Little Traverse Lake.
Each house has a grill, fire pit, and deck area for outdoor dining or watching the sunset over the lake. The sandy area leads out to a dock over the warm, crystal-clear lake. There are also 3 kayaks onsite with plenty of life jackets of every size for your use.
The location of the cottages is perfect for experiencing all the county has to offer. We are located between Leland and Glen Arbor. You can take a trip north to see Fishtown in Leland, or continue on to Northport. Head south to spend some time in Glen Arbor and Empire. Trails across the lake lead you out to the National Lakeshore, where you can walk on the beaches of Lake Michigan for miles. Our cottages are located across the street from Market 22 (an excellent restaurant) and less than a mile away from Little Traverse Inn, a restaurant, historic landmark, and one of the first "hotels" in Leelanau County.
The "South Cub House" has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The first bedroom has a king bed with a new mattress, the second has a new queen mattress, the third is a bunkroom with 2 bunks with full beds on bottom and twins on top, and the fourth bedroom has a full bed. The back two rooms are connected and share a bathroom, making it perfect for a family.
The entire front of the house boasts windows directly overlooking Little Traverse Lake, providing breathtaking views of the sunset. The house has a fireplace, a fully-stocked kitchen, dining area, and living room, all overlooking the lake. For those who prefer to do their cooking outdoors, a large deck with a gas grill and counters makes grill nights easy. There is also a fire pit in front nestled in the sand, perfect for a campfire and some evening s'mores.
The "North Cub House" is newly built. It has 3 bedrooms. The front 2 bedrooms each have a king bed and an amazing view of the lake. There is also a back bunk room with full beds top and bottom (also with views of the lake). There are 2 full bathrooms upstairs (one with a walk-in shower, one with a full bath/shower). There is also a half bath on the main floor.
"North Cub House" also has an open living space with sliding glass doors overlooking the lake. A fireplace keeps you cozy at night, and a fire pit outside is perfect for unwinding after a long day exploring. Sit by the campfire and be amazed at the millions of stars you can see in the dark sky of Leelanau County.
Step out of the glass doors, onto a deck and into the water. If you are looking for activities, rent or bring bikes and ride the Heritage Trail that leads from Little Traverse Lake all the way to Sleeping Bear Dunes and beyond. If you like to golf, there are several golf courses nearby. If you want to try the local flavors, there are endless wineries, distilleries, and breweries in the area. You can schedule a guided tour or try out a few at a time on your own. Leelanau County is known for its beauty and charm, and the timeless quality found in the local farms, beaches, hiking trails, and small towns.
Relax and leave your worries behind. Come enjoy the splendor of Northern Michigan without having to pack the kitchen sink. Our cottages come fully equipped: Kitchen utensils, spices and cooking necessities, bed linens, towels, s'mores essentials, kayaks and life jackets, fire pits, logs for fires, and a dock on the huge slice of lake frontage.

Our family had a great time for the week. Kids loved playing in the sand out front and wading in the water as well. We rented a boat and had a good time with it as well. Lovely lake. The bunk room doesn't have space for luggage, but we were able to make that work just fine. Overall the cottage provided a very fun week for our family.

We rented the space for my low key bachelorette weekend. We played games around the fire and cooked meals together. The cabin was clean and contained everything we needed. Highly recommend!

The location was spectacular. Such a beautiful lake and the house was perfect. Communication with our host was prompt and great! Definitely staying here again!

A bunch of people in their 70s, 60s and 20s had a fantastic time with everything we needed. We loved cooking, kayaking, amazing Good Harbor Bay beach nearby, and so many hikes. Great star gazing from the pier.

Glen Arbor has become a madhouse over the last decade. It was nice to get away from town with our own beach and dock for swimming, kayak's, and just plain floating. M22 Market accross the street helps a lot also. Sunsets are great as well.

Our family had a fabulous week on Little Traverse Lake! The location is ideal for hiking, biking, swimming, visiting Lake Michigan and visiting surrounding towns! The swimming area was sandy and shallow, which was perfect for our kids. The cottage had a lot of sleeping space and met all of our needs. We did have to buy our own toilet paper and laundry detergent (which was no big deal but just be aware that you may need to make a store run).

This property was perfect for our group of seven. Four adults and three children under 5yrs old. The house is very well kept and outfitted with all the needed gear from the kitchen, bath, bedrooms, to the pantry and life jacket closet. Well located between Glen Arbor and Leland for convenient day trips or visits to the grocery or shops. Beautiful sunsets every night. Even caught a massive small mouth bass off the dock. Would love to stay again.

Two families stayed together in this cabin - well stocked, clean, 2 bathrooms, enough hot water for all 12 of us! Lake is beautiful, very shallow around the edges but great fishing - went to Traverse City, Glen Arbor, Leland, rode the bike trail - very relaxing!!!

Six of us spent a relaxing week here at the lake house. Our two grandsons loved having access to the water and use of the kayaks for the entire time. We had hoped to introduce them to fishing from the dock but the lake is so shallow we only had tiny fish. We ended up taking them to Fishtown to fish off the dock. They loved it! Good location to visit surrounding areas.

We enjoyed our time at the cabin over Thanksgiving when we were there. The lake was a beautiful site to look at everyday. There were loons on the water daily to watch. Neighboring cities were close enough to explore and enjoy without losing a whole day just to do it. The local towns are quite pleasant and worth visiting, Suttons Bay, Northport, Leland, Traverse City. There are neighbors, but still very quiet and peaceful. We would stay here again.

Our family & friends enjoyed our stay at the Lakehouse. The kids (ages 13-16) enjoyed the use of the kayaks and the fire pit at night. The sunsets were truly beautiful. Great location for day trips to Fishtown, Glen Arbor & the Dunes. We had a group of 8 and we all fit perfectly. Our group enjoyed the long weekend away.

Lake Cottage
Our family of 6 adults and one infant really enjoyed the cottage. There was plenty of room inside and the beds and furniture were very comfortable. The views of there lake and the evening sky was stunning. The lake access was nice and provided a shallow sandy bottom, although two of our members came down with swimmers itch. Overall, it was a wonderful week.

Great Location Close to Everything
We found checking into the lake house to be very easy, the location is great with trails, the dunes and beaches all close by. The owners were very responsive to any questions we had and fixed a minor issue immediately. The house is well stocked and we did not need to bring much. The outdoor space is wonderful to grill out and hold nightly bonfires with easy access to kayaks and the lake cannot be beat. Walking out to a great sunset every night was exactly as advertised.
As for the negatives, as is common in this area of MI, there is no AC throughout the house. Some of the bedrooms were quite hot even with windows open and fans running as we stayed near the end of July. You should be aware of this going in. Also, we had to deal with mosquitos coming off the lake into the house on a nightly basis in the bunk bedroom. Unclear how they continued to get in through the screened windows, but it was a nightly endeavor to get rid of them and keep them off the kids. Couple of other minor things, several electrical outlets did not work and there was a bedroom window that would not open. Overall, it is a fun space with great outdoor activity to be in for the week.

Lake House
Overall this was a great place to stay with plenty of room for our group of 8. Our only complaint was the oven/range didnt work well and should be replaced. Burners took along time to heat up. Other than that everything was great. We loved the outdoor space and it was nice to have the kayaks.

Beautiful sunset views
Beautiful sunset views! Overall, we were happy with the house. The kitchen was well stocked, plenty of bath towels, we got good use out of the kayaks, loved the sand area, and view of lake from the family/kitchen/dining rooms was spectacular. Amazing spot for sunset views! The bathrooms are on the small side especially the one in the bunk room. We weren't fans of how the 4th bedroom was connected off of the bunk room but it worked out okay for our group. Plenty of parking and we were pleasantly surprised that they provided hand soap, some toilet paper, kitchen trash bags, & paper towels. We also appreciated the smores basket! We had a great time! Thank you so much!

Great location with a beautiful beachfront lot. Perfect for kids who love to fish and swim. Close to Glen and Leland. We hope to be back!

In the middle of everything
Cottage was cosy, comfortable and very well appointed. Had a nice rustic feel. Good kitchen. Adequate bathrooms. Nice deck and small sandy beach. Great views of the lake. Other cottages were close by on the narrow lots, but there was still a sense of privacy. The water was not as swimmer-friendly as I’d hoped for our two young grandchildren, but the somewhat grassy/mucky shore bottom didn’t keep them from playing in the lake for hours. The lake itself was quiet and, further from shore, good for swimming.
Great location on M22 between Glen Arbor and Leland made it easy to get to all the nearby beaches and tourist sites.
We were a party of 6 adults and 2 children, and we had plenty of space. Overall a very good vacation locale.

Cute Up North Cottage
Wonderful views, excellent outdoor areas, comfortable living room, comfortable beds, lovely cabin atmosphere, convenient layout, great location. We had a really good time both at the property and around the area. Dawn kayaking, sunset bonfire, midnight stargazing all fantastic right there.

Great location near Leland, Glen Arbor, Sleeping Bear
Great location near Leland and Glen Arbor. Very nice cottage right on the lake. View of lake from the living area is wonderful. The sitting area outside is excellent and sunset views are top notch. Plenty of wood is there for the firepit, much appreciated. Enjoyed using the kayaks. Across the street from very nice market with food and beverages. We drove 5 min to the other side of this lake and walked through the woods for a 15 min walk to Lake Michigan one evening.
Our stay was in mid-July so some nights were quite warm in the bedrooms, even with fans. One bedroom is only accessed through the bunk bed room. Mosquitoes in the bedrooms were sometimes a problem at night. The sound of large truck traffic from M-22 can be noticeable in the morning. Overall quite pleased with our stay.

Relax
What a wonderful week! To wake up to that view every morning was priceless. Perfect accommodations for our group. The cabin was very clean, well equipped with everything you need. Very quiet, back to nature but close enough to restraunts and shopping. Thank you for your hospitality. We will be back to your little slice of heaven

Little Traverse Lake House
We stayed here with our two children & another family of four, and we never felt cramped. The house was adorable & well-stocked with all kitchen/bathroom essentials, and the location was amazing. We highly recommend staying at this lake house!

Great Northern Retreat!
Fantastic cottage with beautiful views and access to Little Traverse Lake. The accommodations and furnishings were very comfortable for our group of six and the kitchen had all of the utensils and spices (which we forgot to bring!) needed for our meals. I wouldn't hesitate to return and be sure to try the wonderful pizzas served across the street at Market 22! Thanks again for a great extended weekend,
