Spent a full week at the house, it was everything we were looking for durring our stay. The neighbors were closer than expected, but never really had the feeling of others close by the way things are situated. Overall had a great time

What a wonderful comfortable cabin. I could have moved in permanently. Close to fun activities. Great local grocery and would have loved checking out a few of the gift shops.

Nice cozy cabin. Great view. Only issue we had the whole time was that the grill didn’t work.

This place was a great place to stay while getting away from it all. The beds are comfortable, the sheets were nice, and the hiking in the area was amazing. We accidentally locked ourselves out on the upstairs deck. I texted Second Home rentals and they were out in 15 minutes to rescue us! Everything was as described or better with the exception of wireless internet. There is no internet. We didn’t mind as we were outside enjoying the area. Not over crowded like Breckinridge or some of the other more popular mountain areas. We will be back!

Beautiful surroundings and luxurious chalet. Only downside was checking. We got an email beforehand stating that there would only be one extra roll of toilet paper and one extra towel per person, and we rented for a whole week. This did not let us feel very welcome. But we actually had multiple towels and TP. Also the rental company sent us by email an agreement that they stated we had to sign electronically in 2 places and initial in 14 places before we would be given directions and access to the rental. I called very upset. I was told just to ignore it. We already had the directions and access code! I think the rental company was yo blame for all of this.

BEWARE this listing states WiFi INACCURATELY!
A group of 4 of us selected this property for a working women's get away weekend. As you might imagine that became very difficult when it came to the unit NOT providing the advertised WiFi in their listing.
The greatest surprise came when we arrived, and we learned we had to turn the water on for the entire building! This was listed NO place in the property listing! Being the strong independent professional women that we are, we accomplished this - however had we been 30 years older, we would have turned around and exited the property. If we were using a friend's cabin for the weekend for free or at a grossly reduced rate turning on the water or hot water heater is a given; however, when paying a listing rent through VRBO AND the property is managed by a property management firm, this was unacceptable for our group.
Be sure to pack some ice cube trays or grab a bag of ice if you enjoy ice as the freezer works but has no ice trays.
The property manager was quick to arrange for a plow to plow the large driveway area during a heavy late spring snowstorm and communicated ahead of the storm what to anticipate and how to be prepared. As regular high-country visitors this was appreciated.
I am still cloudy on the garbage situation if we were staying more than 4 nights and extra sheets to fit the pull outs beds was a little bit of a treasure hunt.
For an A Frame this is a very roomy and friendly environment - had it not been for an incorrect listing when it comes to WiFi and turning on your own water we would all likely return with our families - however today, the one must have for our group was working WiFi.

Beautiful property. Very roomy. There is a full kitchen with a toaster & blender. Love that it has a washer & dryer. The whole place is comfortable. We loved that there were blankets on the the comfy couch. Everything worked well including the barbecue. The tv had a DVD player in it. The only problem I had, since I am 5' 2" was the master bed was very tall. We just went and bought a step stool, which we took for home. The bed was extremely comfortable. The place is well insulated so it did not get too hot.

The cabin is beautiful, professionally decorated and nicely stocked. Since we were unsure exactly what would be included, we packed most of the items we needed/used (paper plates/cups, plastic ware, etc.). Thanks to the location of the cabin, we fished at Montgomery and Jefferson and Tarryall is nearby. The cabin also offers fishing at a private pond nearby. The cabin has everything you would want for "glamping" (e.g. appliances - including a washer/dryer, gas grill, nice bathrooms with lots of towels, tvs, and comfortable seating both downstairs and upstairs). The ONLY thing I would suggest to future renters is to take is a stool (for children or shorter adults) since the cabin has raised toilets and deep sinks making it difficult to reach for some. Also the washer can only use HD detergent. I would highly recommend this rental and it is even more economical if you have a larger group.

This is our second year staying at Moose Creek Chalet...two weeks each year. Great altitude with cool mornings and abundance of critter life! All you will need is included in the spacious A-Frame cabin, for a wonderful mountain experience! Easy access to the main road and to the local town of Fairplay, Colorado. We will definitely return to this place again, when in the area!

Just right
Home was just as represented in the description. Well equipped, clean, plenty of room for our family of 4. No wifi, but great cell signal. In the trees, so feels secluded. Three decks for soaking in the amazing mountain air. Plenty of nearby hiking, which is our favorite activity.

frustrated
I booked this property after spending many hours searching specifically for an A-frame cabin and had a confirmation email and everything. We planned other parts of our trip (booked snowmobiling, tubing, etc.) and then a few weeks later I got an email from Second Home Second Chance telling me that the cabin was double booked and was offered another cabin in it's place. I was told that the cabin owner thought she had booked her cabin for the dates I had already booked but that she had made a mistake and didn't complete her booking. Despite the fact that I had a confirmation number, my reservation was being bumped. So we never got to stay in this cabin. This should have been the point that I canceled and pursued lodgings elsewhere, but I agreed to the other cabin since everything else had already been planned. When we got to the cabin, everything was fine. It was nice. We read the binder with all of the details and saw that we might need to stagger showers since there were 5 of us, my husband, and our 3 teens. We cooked dinner, washed a few dishes, and one person took a quick shower. When the the 2nd person went to shower, no water came out. None. No toilets would flush. Nothing. Also while all of this was happening the temperature upstairs climbed to 76 while downstairs was 54. We did have a fire going in the living room, but nothing in the binder alerted us to the effect that would have to the temperature downstairs. This should be added to the binder. Since the binder had contact information in case of an emergency (no water is an emergency) I texted the number. It took a while for a response and I was told that we just needed to give the cistern time to refill. Several hours went by with still no water. The person from Second Home Second Chance did not seem to think this was an emergency and kept saying it would refill overnight. It didn't. The next morning I called and she said she would send someone to check on it. We were gone most of the day to go snowmobiling. I never got a call back. Finally about 3:00 I texted for an update and was told there was a problem with the cistern filling (which I already knew) and that we would have to move to another cabin, but since it was nearing 5:00 there would be no guarantee that we could get in the driveway since it had not been cleared from the snowfall the night before. So basically... "good luck guys". I will never book anything through Second Home Second Chance again.

We loved our time at the Moose Creek Chalet. There were sleds, plenty of cookware, and comfortable beds. Beautiful location away from it all. Very responsive hosts.

Good time
It's a beautiful house. Much more spacious than in the pictures. Everything is well thought through. We had everything we need for a great time!
As other commented, furnace took a while to kick in but eventually worked fine.
Be prepared for the altitude, it's 9,954′ at Fairplay so if you are flying into Denver, make sure you have some time to adjust.

The house was cozy and clean. The weekend we stayed was extremely cold. All the rooms were well stocked with amenities. The furnace took a while to kick in during the night, but overall a wonderful stay.

Everything in excellent condition. Very clean and was as represented. The only improvement I could suggest would be to add a clock in the living area.

Adventure 2021
My brother-in-law and his girlfriend have never been to Colorado and this was my husband and I second time. This house was a great experience! We enjoyed the coziness of it after a long day of hiking. Having 3 full bathrooms was a great feature, along with the laundry utility room. Would definitely stay here again!

Summer vacation
Nice spacious cabin in the woods, with several amenities. In reality this cabin is much larger than VRBO photos depict. Also included was use of a private pond stocked with trout which my kids enjoyed. My boys caught more trout in this pond than all 3 gold medal trout streams/rivers we visited (Tasmanian devil 7gram lures worked best). Outdoor amenities include firepit, grill, front&back porches and upstairs large balcony porch. This cabin is also well stocked. Local management are quick to respond to any questions or requests. Fairplay is a good central location if you plan to visit several places near to (Buena Vista-whitewater rafting/ziplining/trail riding, Arkansas River, Royal Gorge, Pikes Peak, Breckenridge, Dillon Lake, Platt River, Cripple Creek, 11-mile Canyon/Reservoir and several other parks/trails mentioned in the owners description).

Wonderful cabin
The cabin was excellent. The lack of property specifics by the property management needs improving.
1 st I had to ask 3 times for full property address. I kept sending me directions from Denver. Even when I said I am driving in from MS. Ugggg
2 the property was listed having WiFi but limited. No WiFi no cell no net. Just tell in add no net provided
3 no follow up any time o how things are Sent 1 text! Which I did not get until 3 days after arrival due to limited cell.
4 very hands off property management. Not impressed with them.
Loved the place though.

Early summer stay
Property was just as described (with the exception of no Wi-Fi). Decent cell service to loop up and play our daily activities. Great location to unplug. +1 for the recommendation for Platte Ranch nearby for horseback riding. Our 5 year old and 3 year old loved it

The views and location of property were amazing!!! Close enough to town but away enough to feel isolated.

Very nice accommodations.
The cabin was very clean, tastefully decorated, and exactly what we were looking for. Only complaints were no king sized beds, and beds were very uncomfortable.

Excellent
Perfect, not to big not to little! The spotty phone service and WiFi were perfect to get the kids in gaged! There is a cute private fishing pond just down the road.
