About this cabin rental
Our log cabin has a great private location nestled in an aspen grove just minutes from Grand Lake. We are just steps away from Columbine Lake, a private 45 acre natural lake just outside Rocky Mountain National Park. This is the perfect getaway for a family vacation, romantic getaway, or reunion with friends. Our location backs up to private wooded land, allowing for lots of privacy and an abundance of wildlife to come near the cabin including Moose, Deer, Fox, and Elk. We are located on a dead end street with neighbors on one side only. Rocky Mountain National Park is 1 mile away and the Village of Grand Lake is just a couple minutes drive.
The interior of the cabin offers an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings in the great room. Natural log beams support the loft upstairs and a log railing follows the stairs up and across the loft, giving it that rustic touch. On the main floor is the 2nd bedroom with queen bed, full bath with shower and laundry, fully stocked kitchen, dining area, great room, and a bar area. Upstairs you will find a full bath with shower / tub, large master bedroom with a king sized log bed and twin bunk beds, and the loft with a trundle bed that serves as the third bedroom. The loft offers privacy from the rest of the cabin and opens up to the balcony outside.
In the evening, have a fire in the fire pit outside and gaze at the stars up above. Rustic log benches surround the fire pit along with adirondack chairs. Please note, firewood may not be available at the cabin and can be purchased in town. If you are planning to bring your dog, well behaved pets will be considered and a pet fee would be applied to your reservation if approved.
Grand Lake is a year round destination. During the summer you can enjoy boating on the 3 lakes (Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake, and Lake Granby), hiking, mountain biking, ATVs, 4th of July fireworks, and the list goes on. During the winter months this area is the snowmobiling capital of Colorado with over 100 miles of groomed trails. Skiing choices are plentiful between Ski Granby Ranch nearby, Winter Park and the legendary champagne powder of Steamboat Springs. Perhaps the greatest year round draw of the area is Rocky Mountain National Park with it amazing scenery and abundance of wildlife.

The cabin is in a serene location with lots of birdwatching and wildlife in the area. Beautiful walks around Lake Columbine! RMNP is just around the corner! The cabin was very clean, with a fully equipped kitchen. There were plenty of pots and pans to cook or bake about anything you want. The owner is very responsive and shared good info about the area including grocery store options. Also the king size bed in the master BR upstairs was very comfortable.

Beautiful surroundings; abundance of wildlife and excellent stargazing from upper balcony and driveway. Something about this property is so tranquil. You can feel your heart rate and breathing slow down. The cabin is equipped with everything you could possibly need. We have stretched our annual stay to 10 days because this place is so accommodating. Accessibility for wheelchair is a bonus.

What a great place to stay, within easy driving distance to RMNP, Grand Lake, Granby, etc. We saw cow moose and calves several times during our stay including one day when the cow bedded down in our yard (doesn't get much better than that!!!). Evening drives up the Kewaunechee Valley yielded elk and moose in large numbers.
Scott was incredibly responsive and helpful, made our stay very comfortable.

The location was perfect, just a short distance from all the fun and activities the area has to offer. Whether it was hiking, boating, or exploring the charming town, everything was easily accessible.
The cabin's layout was incredibly family-friendly, providing plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy. The kids loved having their own area to play, and the open-plan living space made it easy for us all to spend quality time together.
Communication with the property manager, Scott, was excellent. He was always quick to respond and provided helpful information about the cabin. His attentiveness made our stay even more enjoyable.
One of the highlights of our stay was the stunning views of moose roaming the property. It was a unique and unforgettable experience to watch these majestic animals in their natural habitat from the comfort of our cabin.
Overall, our stay was fantastic, and we would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a perfect getaway near Grand Lake.

Perfect location, close to the national park. Grand Lake is an awesome little town. Scott was a great host and the cabin is in perfect condition. We saw moose and baby moose every day. The fire pit and stars were incredible. Can’t go wrong with this place!

We enjoyed the cabin and it provided well for all of us. We were able to seat 9 people around the dining room table and the kitchen was stocked with table wear and pots and pans. The cabin is located in a charming neighborhood and my husband and I enjoyed several walks around the lake. The golf course next door provided for some Nordic skiing and free sledding for the grandkids. Everyone enjoyed staying at the cabin.

The cabin was situated in a mountain neighborhood, but if felt like we were in the middle of the woods all by ourselves. When we arrived the cabin looked like Christmas as it had recently snowed and when we entered we were greeted with a beautiful open concept cabin which was even decorated for the Holiday. We made a several meals, watched football and played games during our stay and it was so peaceful. We want to visit this cabin again!!!

A perfectly relaxing and cozy cabin in the woods! Our family of 7 plus 2 dogs were very comfortable and well taken care of during our 4 night stay. Our Thanksgiving feast was easily prepared with all of the kitchen necessities available. We enjoyed a short walk to Columbine Lake and a brisk walk around the neighborhood with breathtaking views all around! Conveniently located just a short drive to Grand Lake Village to partake in all that it has to offer was also very nice. Waking up to fresh snow was a treat and added to the enjoyment of a crackling fire. Each room was comfortable and provided exactly what we needed to get some rest for a new day.
Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!!

Right outside the park! As we arrived we heard elk bugling. We went early morning and evening to the park to see the wildlife and it couldn’t be more convenient.
The home is well stocked with all necessities. We especially enjoyed all the extra kitchen utensils so we could prepare full meals.
We also appreciated Scott checking on us during the week. Definitely recommend this cabin to anyone wanting to experience the park on the quiet side!

This cabin provided the perfect place to stay for our visit to the west side of RMNP. Its location was only a mile to the national park entrance and also to the town of Grand Lake. The cabin was very spacious, clean and felt like a true mountain home away from home for our family. We loved the quiet neighborhood and took walks around Columbine Lake and on the other trails close by. Scott was very accommodating and ensured we had everything we needed at check in and during our stay. Overall, it was a perfect visit to Grand Lake. We would highly recommend Scott's property and hope to visit again ourselves!

This place exceeded our expectations! We had plenty of space for two families, including three very active boys ages 1 to 7. There were toys and games, comfortable sleeping arrangements, and lots of space to cook, eat and hang out, both indoors and outside. The fire pit was a huge hit! Our favorite part was how private and remote the place felt yet it was just a couple minutes from town. Host communication was excellent and we will definitely recommend to others looking for a nice getaway in the area.

Very comfortable property with all of the accoutrements you would expect (lots of pots and pans, everything works, balcony for wildlife viewing, fire pit, deck, etc). Beautiful walks around Columbine Lake, lots of friendly people. Great base for trips to Grand Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, hiking, fishing, etc. Host was super responsive. Already booked for 2024!!!

This cabin was exactly what we were looking for. It is quiet and peaceful, but still close enough to town for the shops and restaurants. Our first morning we had a moose and her baby laying 20 feet outside the kitchen window. The cabin was very clean and welcoming. Scott was one of the best hosts we have ever had. We would definitely stay here again!

Great cabin nestled up to forest, providing the break from city life we were looking for, mountain breeze and sun shining on our faces just relaxing out on the front porch, stargazing at night with the regular sounds of elk bugeling, tons of birds feeding outside the window, chipmunks stopping by the deck, and fox hopping through the woods. Loved the wooden interior and exposed lodge pole and vaulted ceilings. Enjoyed daily walks around Columbine Lake and day trips into the park. Great stay, we’ll be back!

Lovely stay at this little cabin. We need handicapped accessible friendly place for wheelchair and walker access. This fit the bill for the most part.
The cabin is very well stocked and the beds comfy.
As we packed the last bag into the car we did have a cow moose walk through as well.
Great place to stay. Thank you to Scott for the great hospitality.

Like everyone else says..the pictures don’t do this place justice. It’s a gorgeous cabin with room for everyone. The rooms and beds were comfy, kitchen well stocked, and the owner was very communicative (we didn’t need a thing! He just checked in to make sure we were good and if we had seen a moose yet 😊Spoiler alert: we did!!)
This place is so conveniently located to the entrance of RMNP, and Columbine Lake is blissfully quiet. We’ll be back!!

This property does not disappoint in the nature and wildlife dept! Nestled in Aspens, Pine trees and wildflowers the animals frequent the property daily/nightly. We saw on a regular basis a Doe and her two fawns, countless moose, a wide variety of birds at the bird feeders as well as a Mother Robin and her 3 chicks that nested under the arbor just right outside the side door. We did not see a bear but suspect there was one that tore down one of the bird feeders hanging from the shed. A beautiful setting to relax and escape.
