We stayed to enjoy a leisurely driving experience on Hana highway over two days. I wish I would have planned to stay longer than one night here. This is a beautiful and relaxing location. We were fortunate and had some morning clouds so sunrise was absolutely and amazingly colorful!

The pictures online don’t do it justice. It was bigger than we had expected. Extremely nice and roomy. We also loved how close it was to the beach.

Check in was easy and they took us 15 minutes early. The location for Hana was great and had a partial ocean view. Aside from the lack of AC it had everything I would have wanted. Internet worked great. There were board games and other things that helped the time with the family.

While we appreciated the clean room and comfortable bed for our overnight stay at Hana Kai Maui, the property is dated, seems a bit tired, for the cost. One would think that the business model would include periodic reinvestment into the property for the safety and convenience of their guests.
Yes, the world is coming off of a global pandemic, however I expected there would be just a bit more ambiance. I did not anticipate that there would not be any current reading material - everything was from 2015 or earlier. Yet, information on any local activities was dated. There was a closet of board games for the guests' use.
The maintenance of the property just seemed to be fair. However when we left, we noticed that the wooden walkway to the parking lot had a few soft spots in the wooden bridge. That kind of maintenance could have been done during COVID...
Expect a physical key, not an electronic lock.

I would highly recommend you stay over night in Hana. It's a little like stepping back in time. It's a different kind of vibe. Hana Kai was the best value you could get for a one night stay and we highly enjoyed it. We had a parcial view of the beach, easy to get to. My kids got up to watch the sunrise. It is a one bedroom condo, but there is plenty of room for the 4 of us. Tight fit for the two young adults on the pull out. Once the sun goes down, thats about it, so we ate at the food trucks and played games, There is a lot of boards games in the condo. The kitchen is well stocked. We didn't have to ask for anything.

Spent 1 night in Hana and loved our stay. It was so nice to break up the road to Hana trip. Picked up dinner from Thai food truck and ate on condo deck. Enjoyed walking the black sand beach in the morning, made breakfast and ate on deck again enjoying the ocean view. Very convenient to Haleakala National Park and the Pipiwai Trailhead and being able to get there before crowds. Mgmt staff was great. There was a very aggressive disturbance in one of the other rooms a few away from ours in the morning and the staff confronted the disturbance quickly and efficiently. I appreciate their quick attention to the issue and because of this it did not negatively impact our stay. Well done!

We decided to stay 2 nights in Hana to allow a slower trip and lots of time exploring. This was a great location, so close to the Red Sand Beach and restaurants/ food trucks. Was able to secure a reservation at the Black Sand beach before the day trippers and enjoy the park. Highly recommend.

Great Stay. Please fix the shower.
We took short showers and stood in inches of water because the shower didn't drain. This appeared to be a long-term problem that should be addressed given the price point. Otherwise, the property was wonderful.

Paradise!!
Unit 107 is absolute paradise!! The pictures don't do this unit justice. It was very clean and comfortable. Decorated nicely as well.
The back Lani provides a perfect view of the black sand beach. Sunset and sunrise is breathtaking!!!
I absolutely loved the bathroom area. The shower is fantastic, all though a ledge or small chair to prop your leg to shave would have been nice. They have a great big dresser inside the closet in the bathroom which was nice to put our suite case on top of and hang our clothes.
The only minor inconvenience was that there was no broom/dustpan. It would have been nice to sweep up the sand and crumbs that inevitably get on the floor.
Hana is a absolute blessing of a place to be. The locals were friendly, and the food trucks in the area are culinary masterpieces!! I recommend the Thai food place in the food truck area and also Kilo's Kitchen!!
Also make sure to stop at the Ranch store and pick up some fresh loads of cake bread. The lilikoi and strawberry guava was fantastic for breakfast!!
I recommend staying in Hana area for at least 4 or 5 days. It's a nice base to get out and explore all the different trails and beaches. Hamoa beach is the best beach to swim and Koki beach is absolutely stunning!! In fact we renewed our vows on Koki Beach and it was absolutely perfect!!
I recommend Alana at Hana Wedding Company. She was so cool and provided us with a beautiful ceremony on the beach..
All and all I would and will absolutely be back!! ❤️❤️

Beautiful views, great unit for two people
The layout of the unit was nice and open. The unit had huge sliding doors onto the lanai and the cool breeze filled the unit. Loved the black rock beach. would stay there again.

Great location
Beautiful spot to stay as we continue along the Hana highway. Clean and easy after hour check in. Amazing breezes through the unit. Evening was quiet, all food trucks were closed by 7pm except for the Hana ranch restaurant.

Perfect Getaway
Our family had an amazing stay in unit #107. It's got a corner partial view and we enjoyed it every morning and evening. The unit is peaceful, has great air flow, so it was never hot and we enjoyed the waves soothing us to relaxation every day. Perfect for our family and great location!

Super cute old Hawaii vibes
Loved the atmosphere of this charming place and the nice ocean breeze coming in through the lanai. I somehow missed that there was no TV, but was it was a really nice break as we were able to just enjoy the ocean view.

Great location with thin walls
Great location with access to the beach that is perfect for sunrise. Staffs were nice at the front desks but the cleaning staffs came into our place TWICE in the morning of checkout day before the checkout time!! Once at an early hour while we were sleeping! We got a call a bit past 8pm about a neighbor for a noise complaint which is understandable since the door to the balcony was open. We (4 girls) then lowered the speaker that we ourselves could barely hear it, moved it to corner of the room where the are no neighbors (we stayed at the last room on the row), closed all of the windows and balcony door so we wouldn’t bother whoever complained. About 10pm, same caller called again... that was the end of our night. Beware of the thin walls!

Pull out bed/ couch was awful
There were no sheets for the “second bed” and there was no one to reach to get any. Futon couch was terribly uncomfortable, tossed and turned all night. Felt very tired for day two of Hana:(

Fantastic Hana, Maui home base
The Hana Kai Maui was a perfect choice for our one week stay in Hana. Unit 107 is as pictured—clean, roomy, nicely furnished and decorated. The best parts for me are the super comfortable bed, the consistent sound of the ocean, and the patio with a great (partial) view of the beach, ocean, and sunrise.

Hana Perfection
Great location in Hana near the water. The suite was clean and comfortable with a view of the beach and the ocean sky. We watched evening storm and morning sunrises. Lots of food options nearby and the right spot to get to many Hana adventures.

Gorgeous spot in Hana
We absolutely loved our stay at Hana Kai. Everything from the unit decor to the grounds of the complex were gorgeous, and you can’t beat the location if you are looking for somewhere in the heart of Hana. We stayed here to break up our ‘Road to Hana’ excursion and were able to enjoy the Haleakalā National Park the next morning without the late afternoon crowds. We would absolutely stay here again.

Road to hana
Stayed here to split up the road to Hana drive and it was well worth it. The place is very clean, everything neatly laid out, they have some thing supplied that others don’t that are very thoughtful(shampoo, coffee, cooking oil).
There’s no a/c and yet the way the place is built with all the screens there’s a steady breeze and I never felt too hot.
The only thing I didn’t love/expect was I thought the washer and dryer would be in the unit....prob should have looked into that more on my part.
Not a massive view of the ocean but the deck is still really nice.

Great Hana Hideout
Loved this spacious, older property. Very clean and relaxing/quiet locale. Could use more overhead fans for circulation as there is no A/C so get ready to sweat it out a bit! Really enjoyed this quieter side of the island and proximity to all Hana offers.

Perfect getaway!
This apartment was the perfect size for the two of us. The resort was a 3 minute drive to the “main area” in Hāna where all the good food trucks are located as well as two restaurants. No AC in the unit as advertised but the bedroom had one ceiling fan as well as a standing fan. I highly recommend staying a night or two in Hāna, it’s very different than the Kihea/Kahului.

Break up the drive
We decided at last minute to break up the long "Road to Hana" drive. I searched VRBO for availability and this came up. If I am being honest it wasn't my first choice but it should have been. After we got there and I saw the other places I was considering this place by far was much better. You don't know what you don't know. I would definitely stay here again!
