Great location for us halfway between two sets of family in Whitfield and Deal.
Great location for us halfway between two sets of family in Whitfield and Deal. Cottage was lovely, furnished well throughout, comfotable and warm. Parking space is a little tricky if someone parks across by the wall but being opposite The Smugglers and close to the village shop is great.

After a few holiday cottages that didn't meet expectations Durdich Cottage was first rate and a pleasure to stay in. It is well equipped, clean and comfortable. The location is excellent for touring East Kent-Canterbury, Whitstable, Sandwich, Faversham, Folkestone, Deal, Broadstairs are all just a short drive away. St Margarets Bay has a small but interesting shore.
Good for the dog too with an enclosed rear garden.

A lovely well furnished cottage.
A lovely well furnished cottage. The only drawback for me is the second bedroom is bunk beds so not ideal for 2 couples. Local amenities are a bit thin on the ground and I feel you need a car to get round. The area is great to explore and Ramsgate, Deal. Dover and Birchington are all easily reached. For children a day at Dover Castle is brilliant.

As previously stated parking was very tight, it took some manvoiring to get our car into the space. (Fiat 500L).

Lovely cottage in a great part of the country.
Lovely cottage in a great part of the country. It’s cosy but with all you could need. Some noise from the road but nothing too troubling. Relatively short walk to the beach although the steps may not be ideal for some. Very nice cafes and pubs nearby. Amazing Indian restaurant near Dover - ‘Namaste’. We will be back :-)

A really great cottage in a good location.
A really great cottage in a good location. We are a family of four. Our children are still little and the cottage was just about perfect for us. We stayed there for two weeks and enjoyed it very much. Nice kitchen with everything there. (If you like coffee, you should bring nespresso cartridges). Nice cosy living room with interesting books to read and games to play, even some toys for the children. The little garden is also beautiful. The parents' bed could have been a little bigger (wider and longer), but it was ok and the matrace was quite hard (I like that!). The children's bedroom was perfect for us, but if you are a group of adults, the bunk beds might be too small.
It has been mentioned by other guests that the parking is rather narrow. If you have distance sensors in your car it should be no problem. The fire alarm is actually an issue (which also has been mentioned before). Apart from that there is absolutely nothing to complain about.

A great place to stay with your family & dog, especially when you like going for long walks and / or if you are looking for a base for experiencing the area by car. The parking space is big enough for a medium sized car, but you should be an experienced „parker“ or rely on the cars distance detectors.
The beach is not far away, about a 20 minute walk, but „way down“ the cliff, and getting back up to the top keeps you fit and takes about twice as long. No dogs allowed at the beach of St. Margrets Bay from May to Spetember between 9 am and 8 pm (hope I got the dates right).
The cottage itself is top quality and perfectly equipped and the owner is very cooperative. The garden is enclosed, but the garden gate will allow smaller dogs to slip through. If you want to let your dog run free, it takes about a 10 minute walk before you can let him off the lead securely.
Wifi works fine at about 20 MBit.
Just as a hint: If you like to cook, keep the kitchen door shut and cover the smoke detector in the kitchen tightly with a plastic bag, otherwise the fire alarm can go off, even if your are only boiling eggs or making toast. And as all smoke detectors are connected, you‘ll have the noise all over the house... :-)

Durdrich Cottage is in a lovely village with two pubs and a post office just a short walk away and a local shop that is opposite the cottage. The walk to the sea is much longer but is very pleasant and worth the effort. The cottage itself is comfortable with 3 toilets and 2 bathrooms. On arrival it was spotlessly clean and we immediately felt at home there.

We stayed in Dudrich Cottage for a week at the start of June. The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and offered safe off road parking ( although the parking space is tight to get into with a big car ) allowing us to off load our holiday items, shopping and dog without concern for traffic. The house is extremely well equipped with quality essentials such as knives, pans, glassware and dinnerware ( we have stopped in some cottages where there is not one sharp knife or a single pint glass? ). The back garden to the property is adequate for a medium sized dog to wander around and is self contained ( but be aware there is a five bar gate to one side which our dog could have squeezed through if he had been determined enough or unsupervised). During our stay the garden was visited frequently by all sorts of small birds which was nice to see. There are three separate toilets in the property and a full sized bath which is very convenient and again a good supply of quality towels were available. The wifi speed was about 20mbs allowing us to watch Internet TV in the evenings without issue.
The location of the cottage is very close to mini supermarket/shop and pub which was convenient. Shop deliveries do take place at around 6.30am though and did wake us more than once. The cottage is a good place from which to explore southern Kent with nearby Deal being a nice place to visit.
Overall this cottage was one of best best we have stayed in.

Couple of niggles.
Couple of niggles. Bunk beds in second bedroom so not ideal for 2 sets of couples or 4 adults as bunkbeds difficult to negotiate over the age of about 8. Oven needs a good clean as it set the fire alarm off several times.
Other than that, what a lovely cottage. Small enclosed garden, proper suntrap. Great showers and bathroom. Clean, wi fi, spacious. Good communication from owner.
Local amenities good, great as a base to explore Canterbury, Ramsgate, Margate etc.
Have rebooked for October this year.

A lovely cottage - very clean and well kept. Local Pub, The Smugglers was very friendly & just a short walk away (happy to accept our dog). We would recommend the Coastguard Pub in the bay.
We would definitely recommend this cottage for both couples & families. Plenty to do locally - Deal & the White Cliffs just a short journey.
