Superbly located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with long-distance views from the rear towards Malham Cove, these three properties form part of a barn conversion dating back to the 1800s. Exposed stonework, beams and arches are a feature in their well furnished interiors. They are set on the owners’ working farm (keep dogs under control) and there is a farm shop close by where there is a selection of local produce and crafts which can be purchased. With their own separate garden areas complete with barbecue equipment, the cottages can be booked together to accommodate larger groups wishing to holiday together, yet retain their independence.
Surrounded by rolling countryside criss-crossed with the limestone walls for which this region is renowned, each forms an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts, with stunning walks from the doorstep leading to Malham Cove, Gordale Scar, Malham Tarn and Janet’s Foss. The historic market town of Skipton is close at hand, boasting one of England’s best preserved Norman castles. Take a leisurely boat trip along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, step back in time with a narrated ghost walk around the town’s backwaters, or hunt for a bargain at the bustling street market – its stalls laden with local produce. An alternative selection of shops and tearooms can be found in Settle (6 miles), an ideal base for embarking on a journey aboard the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway. Set on the banks of the River Wharfe, the ruined priory of Bolton Abbey offers a picturesque setting for picnics and strolls along the river bank, and serves as a good starting point for more challenging hikes through forest and heath. Plenty of good restaurants and country pubs serving real ales and fine local fayre in the vicinity. Shop 10 yards.

Beautiful spacious cottage with superb views north to Malham Cove next door to tea room and farm shop. Central for local walks and equidistant to Settle and Skipton for supermarkets etc. Highly recommended.

Comfortable, spacious cottage in a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales, with a stunning view towards Malham Cove. Convenient situation next to the Town End Farm Shop - thoroughly recommend it for some really great local produce. Cottage owners really went out of their way to make the cottage Covid-secure for us, which made what could have been a worrying endurance test a really relaxing holiday instead. Thank you!

A fantastic place to stay - it was our second visit.
A fantastic place to stay - it was our second visit. The only reason I never scored 10 was because it doesn’t have a downstairs toilet. That doesn’t bother us but it may someone else. There is another barn conversion attached to Stable cottage that does have a downstairs loo and bedroom so ideal for someone who struggles with stairs. If you stay at The Stables - which is more in keeping with the traditional barn features, I’ll guarantee you that you’ll be hard pushed to tire of the magnificent views.

Stable cottage is in the perfect location, with wonderful views from the living room looking out towards Malham Cove, and the lush rolling hills of the dales. Airton is a lovely village perfectly situated for great walks and yet close enough to towns like Skipton and Settle. Being next door to Town End Farm Shop & Cafe is a huge plus. I would have marked Stable Cottage full marks if it hadn’t been that: the welcome tray was poor, nothing more than some milk and a two-pack of biscuits per person; the bath towels were small and thin; and the bedding could have been better. I’d book it again but next time we’d take our own pillows and bedding.
