Dating from the 17th century and Grade I listed, it was remodelled by John Nash, the famous Regency architect, to match the adjoining property (also National Trust and open six days a year). Cronkhill Farmhouse retains many period details, including beamed ceilings, quarry-tiled floors and an open fireplace. The property is especially popular with families and groups of friends.
Its idyllic situation combines a very convenient location, close to the bustling town of Shrewsbury and the prettiest villages of Shropshire. A local post office, shop and country pub are all within ½ mile of Cronkhill. The National Trust’s Attingham Park is just 1 mile away, at the centre of which is a fine Regency mansion set within a deer park designed by Humphrey Repton. There is extensive year round walking to be enjoyed here.
This is an excellent central base from which to explore Shropshire. Shrewsbury lies 3 miles to the north, with its fine period architecture, cinemas, restaurants, and excellent shopping; to the south are the spectacular Shropshire Hills. In its medieval castle setting, Ludlow provides a food paradise with restaurants and artisan shops galore. Eight miles to the east is the World Heritage site of Ironbridge Gorge and its many museums. Three ruined abbeys and the remains of the ancient Roman city of Wroxeter are all within a 20-minute drive.

Cronkhill is in a beautiful location, very well situated for exploring the fabulous Shropshire Hills and nearby Attingham Park.
Cronkhill is a substantial house with a genuine farmhouse feel.
It has a well stocked kitchen and the dining room easily seats 12-14 people. The lounge is spacious and the log fire is excellent (the chimney draws well and the fire gets going quickly).
There is never ending, very hot water and the showers are good, if not that up to date to look at. Being a traditional property the bathrooms are all upstairs, but 3 bathrooms were fine for 14 people.
Beds are comfy, with 4 bedrooms having a stunning views of The Wrekin.
There was a good stock of garden furniture and a moderate sized BBQ outside, with lighting to allow you to sit out later into the evening.
The night sky was fabulous!!
We also parked 7 cars with ease.
It is not swanky or super modern and could benefit from a second fridge and maybe plusher towels but I would definitely recommend it as a great "find"

This is a characterful and spacious farmhouse, suitable for a large family gathering.
This is a characterful and spacious farmhouse, suitable for a large family gathering. In a rural spot but close to Shrewsbury. The house is charming with a beautiful garden area. A few family members said their beds needed updating, and one room had a window with no curtains which made sleeping difficult. Comfortable sitting room and big dining table for everyone to eat/ play games. There’s a nice big kitchen, but a new set of pans would be helpful, and the scales were missing. No downstairs toilet which may prove tricky for some visitors. Overall we had an enjoyable stay, and would recommend the house.

Excellent, exactly what we wanted for a family gathering. We'll equipped, clean and comfortable. Well located close to Shrewsbury. Excellent large safe garden for our young grandson to run around and table tennis for us. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A nice holiday cottage, plenty of space for the 10 of us. The sofas could do with an upgrade which has also been mentioned by another guest. One of them had barely any Padding on the seat.
It would also have been nice to have a toilet downstairs but that’s just our preference.

The house was perfect for our family to meet up, with plenty of room.
The house was perfect for our family to meet up, with plenty of room..the beautiful weather meant that we were outside most of the time, and could eat supper in the garden every night. We never found the second barbecue, so some food had to be cooked in the kitchen.
The only thing We all felt the lack of was a downstairs loo, otherwise it was great for five adults and Six children
Thank you

Another fab weekend in this lovely cottage.
Another fab weekend in this lovely cottage. Ticks all the boxes for us. Genuine old world charm, not so perfect you’re scared to set foot in it. Tons of space, they could’ve squeezed more beds in. Small problem we had this time was that the showers were a bit intermittent-in a property like this, you need to have multiple showers reliably hot in quick succession in a morning! Other than that, a great stay, and the sun even came out for us too 😁

Great garden for running around in and perfect house for hide and seek.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you.
In addition, owner was very responsive over a minor issue we had.

Lovely house with lots of history.
Lovely house with lots of history. Comfort could be improved by replacing the old and tired sofas.
The DVD player is somewhat old and the remote didn't work - still that gave the kids some exercise!

Cronkhill Farmhouse was great for our needs last weekend.
Cronkhill Farmhouse was great for our needs last weekend. We were going to a wedding nearby and wanted to stay all together with family, so it ticked all the boxes. A downstairs loo would have been helpful, but there were plenty upstairs so it wasn't a big problem.
The decor is not luxurious, but just right for a place to stay with kids.

I would recommend but with reservations.
I would recommend but with reservations. The property is ideal for young children and pets and we all had a great time. However, everything could do with a giant spring clean. The settee in the dining room was downright grubby and the settees in the living room were not the cleanest. There were curtains missing at some windows, some of the fittings were starting to come away at the wall, there were a lot of cobwebs, the plastic tablecloth in the kitchen was ripped and stained, a toilet seat was broken, and so on.
Having said that, the bones of the house were fantastic and we were happy to overlook the faults. It was refreshing to find somewhere that hadn't been farrow and balled to within an inch of its life, but a few feminine touches and a thorough clean would have made it even better.
On the plus side, it was homely, the rooms were a great size, the beds were comfortable, the views were wonderful, the garden was great and because it wasn't precious, we had a very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable stay. I would happily go back despite the downsides.

Absolutely brilliant as a location for a big group to hold their annual get together.
Absolutely brilliant as a location for a big group to hold their annual get together. The living room and dining room will genuinely accommodate the maximum number of guests that the property can take. Kitchen facilities were also excellent, and the beds were comfortable.
