We've been going to the Gatehouse for ten years now which in itself shows how much we think of it! The cottage is cosy and has everything you need, the setting and scenery are outstanding with views across the bay to the Snowdonia range an Llyn Peninsula.
Aberffraw itself is a beautiful historic village unspoilt by tourism, there's a superb sandy beach with extensive dunefields behind it. The coastal walk from the estuary to the 'Church in the sea' provides magical views across the sea to Snowdonia, when the sun shines you feel as though you could be in a truly exotic location.
The cottage owners are lovely, so welcoming and friendly and full of knowledge about the area. I highly recommend a stay at the Gatehouse!

We loved staying here.
We loved staying here. It was a comfortable cottage with everything we needed in an outstanding location. The views from the house and garden are fabulous and it was nice to be separate from the village, but still within walking distance. We were able to step out of the door and do a range of beautiful walks, including parts of the Anglesey Coastal Path. The owner is welcoming and helpful. I would definitely book again.

I would give 20 for location, but I don’t want too many people visiting,or it will be booked up.

The Owner is a gentleman, he ensured we arrived safely and he happily provided us with the housekeys and gave us a guided tour of the house. He said if we should need him then he lived in the village and we only needed to ring him. Everything we needed was provided including local info. maps, books and games, the pub so close five minute stroll away, lovely coastal walks and friendly locals. I was feeling poorly with a cold.... we decided to leave a day early and the owner was going out that day but he went out of his way to collect the keys from us. Would I stay there again...….CERTAINLY, thank you Mr ……., a pleasure to meet you.

We have been holidaying at the Gatehouse for nine years now and have already booked for next year. The cottage is well appointed and clean with a large kitchen / dining room.
There is a private driveway, with a newly installed gate, and private garden with dry stone walls around it.
A log burner has been fitted in the living room which is really nice when staying there in winter!
The owners are lovely and always very welcoming. The village of Aberffraw is 1/4 mile down the lane, it is peaceful and not commercialised like so many holiday destinations. As you walk along the estuary from the historic bridge, the vista suddenly opens up with the most magical view of the beach, sea and Snowdonia mountain range on the horizon. When the sun is out, you can easily be forgiven for thinking you are abroad, the sea twinkles like a million diamonds and the sand dunes behind are a delight for wildlife enthusiasts.
The roads are great for cycling, they are quiet even during the holiday season and the views are of course spectacular.
The only sad part is having to leave at the end of the holiday!

The location was excellent - close to lovely sheep and cows which was quite enjoyable. It's a bit far from supermarket but we had a car so not a big problem. The only problem we had was the old carpet on the ground floor which I found my feet were itchy when I sit on the sofa over an hour.

We holiday at the Gatehouse every year, sometimes twice! The cottage and location are stunning and the views across Snowdonia really are breathtaking.
The location is very quiet and peaceful, at night time there is hardly any light pollution which is great for viewing the night sky.
There is everything you could need in the cottage, including Wi-fi, a new wood-burner has recently been fitted in the living room which is great for winter / autumn visits.
The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and is only a phone call away if you should need him.
The village of Aberffraw is a short walk down the country lane, it is an historic village steeped in Welsh history. There is a Post Office / general store and a public house. There is a walk down the estuary to the beach, great for dog walking and no restrictions on dogs. The beach is large and sandy with sand dunes to its rear and fantastic views across the sea.
The A4080 runs past the village, making it easy to get to locations across the island.
I recommend the Gatehouse completely and without reservation.
