This is our second visit to The Cottage.
This is our second visit to The Cottage. In a very peaceful location on a working farm, the owners are very friendly and helpful, and there are many walks nearby in forests and around the lakes. Enjoyed watching the ducks from the newly built conservatory/porch. Had an excellent stay and would definitely recommend.

Mr and Mrs Richardson were incredibly welcoming, and very friendly.
Mr and Mrs Richardson were incredibly welcoming, and very friendly. We will go back to The Cottage or to the other property on the farm so what follows here is for information .... Unfortunately, the cottage was tired and dated in terms of decor, furniture, t.v and lack of wifi. The cottage is very old and converted a few decades ago so expected issues with layout etc. Beds very clean and quite comfortable but rooms could take a larger bed than a double. Shower in the main bathroom was terrible, and no over bath shower in the en-suite. In addition, we found the cottage to be cold, especially when returning from a chilly, wet day on the fells. That said, Mrs Richardson had provided several electric heaters which provided instant localised heat. The cooker in the kitchen was small and dated and the shelves kept collapsing which caused chaos and much hilarity!
All in all though we had a great week, especially considering the cost for October half-term in The Lake District. Mr and Mrs Richardson were great hosts!

The owners who live in the adjacent farmhouse are both friendly and helpful in all respects.
The owners who live in the adjacent farmhouse are both friendly and helpful in all respects. Set well away from the main road and a quarter of a mile from the village of Gosforth this is a peaceful and relaxing location. Views towards Wasdale are stunning and constant amusement can be had by observing the Indian Runner ducks around the farm pond.

We had a lovely time at this cottage.
We had a lovely time at this cottage. The hosts were extremely welcoming & nothing was too much trouble for them. The cottage was warm, cosy & well equipped. Lovely garden with masses of snowdrops appearing. We even had a visit from the resident woodpecker.
It is ideally placed for visiting nearby lakes yet also very near to the coast. Ideal for our dogs who loved running on Seascale beach.
One point I would like to make though is that we weren't too keen on all the doves & pigeons that were flying around the courtyard all the time. There were dozens of them & they made a mess all over our car roof. I also felt that I was stepping in their mess every time I came out of the car / cottage & I didn't think this was very hygienic. This would be particularly relevant if guests had young children with them. This needs to be addressed.
