We recently stayed here with extended family as we explored the Black Hills and this spot was just heavenly. The house was fully stocked and had plenty of space on the inside, and there was a large yard, fire pit, and even some nearby farm animals to keep our family entertained outside. The location to Custer and tourist attractions was perfect. Would stay here again!

Perfect little house just a few miles from town. Easy short drive into town for food/supplies, but far enough out you have space and privacy. Large yard for kids to run around in and have a fire. Very easy check in, and communication with the host was quick and efficient.

It was the perfect property for peace, quiet and relaxation with the family! Super close to Custer for access to an last minute amenities. Really great location as ‘home-base’ with convenient access to all the great parks and hiking SD has to offer.

The Little Red Inn is a perfect place to have a large group of family stay and be very comfortable! My brothers and their adult children came for my mom’s 80th birthday celebration. The cabin was close to town, very clean and comfortable! We had a great time making s’mores at the fire pit a few nights. Highly recommend!

Great setting and check in and out. Well-equipped kitchen and lots of room. Master bed seemed to sag a little and freezer sometimes didn’t seal well. Would definitely come back.

SD Trip
The house was very clean and many amenities were provided. There was plenty of space for our two families to sleep. The bunkbed room was a favorite of our kids! The location was central to many of the activities we were looking forward to doing. The area around the house was nice and quiet and had plenty of space for the kids to run around and play. There were a few issues however. The internet was very slow and one of the tv's was not working. The beds had very uncomfortable and very used mattresses. There was also no dishwasher which was unexpected. Overall the house worked for our short trip, but would probably look for another VRBO in the area in the future.

Excellent
Great location for all things Black Hills. Enjoyed the area and the place was perfect for us. Spotless in terms of cleanliness, wildlife all around and open area air outside with no one around.

Excellent Property in ideal surrounding
We stayed here during the labor day weekend of 2021 for 3 nights.
The location was very nice, convenient and peaceful. Surrounded by wildlife. Deer in the front yard every evening and howl of the wolves at a distance.
The property itself shows age, but it is presented very well w/ clean kitchen, bath and bedrooms.
Just as we checked in, we were told that the dryer had stopped working and a new one wasn't going to be installed until we checked out. So, we used the clothesline in the backyard on day 1. Much to our surprise, while we were gone, a new dryer had been installed, which we used the second day onward. This showed us that the owner cares very much about living up to the expectations she set. A+
We enjoyed the fire pit in the yard. Everything was very peaceful and convenient.
I highly recommend this property and any other property from Joy.

Will not disappoint
Lovely little home and the property is in a great location. Close to Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monument. Deer visit every night, and we even were visited by wild turkeys.
Down town Custer is very close. Grocery store will have everything you need. Local restaurants are very good. Don't miss out on the breakfast at Dakota Cowboy just a little out of town. We ate there the morning we left for home.
The home was just perfect for our family of four. Our boys loved the yard, fire pit and the pretty cows that were right there by the home. We only ate breakfast at the home during our stay, however, this kitchen will have everything you need for each meal. They do offer a grill and a flat top grill that are stored in the garage.
There is no central AC, however, with so much to do and see we were not home during the day. We would get home each evening around 7... open the windows with the ceiling fans on and the house cools down very quickly. The windows have wonderful little cranks on them, so quaint. Tons of windows for the view of the yard and the rocks out the side door.
Our boys slept well in the bottom bunks, and we slept well in the king master bed. The bed has def. indentions and you sink pretty far in, but we still slept well. Leave the bathroom window by the sink cranked open a tad with the cool SD air blowing in.. heaven!
If you are traveling with anyone that has even slight mobility issues just be aware that the front deck to get into the home doesn't have railings on the steps. It would be a little precarious for anyone with issues walking up steps.
Wonderful stay!

Lovey home base for black hills adventures
We spent a week in this cute little red house and had a wonderful time. The layout was super convenient for us and our two friends. We used the well-supplied kitchen every day and enjoyed the grill and fire pit. The beds were plush and comfy. It’s not fancy and a little worn but it had everything we needed.
Our favorite part was the welcome crew of cows in the front pasture that we visited with every day. We also saw turkeys, great blue herons and deer cross the yard and heard many coyote at night. The property was so quiet and backs up to a nature area with nearby trails if you wanted to take a days rest from the numerous amazing state and national park adventures nearby. Star gazing was a little though with the security light right behind the house.
We also loved eating on the convertible picnic table on the front porch to enjoy the view of the nearby rock formations. Just a wonderful spot.

Excellent vacation spot!
An amazing property just a few miles from Custer SD. Great small town shopping and restaurants along with crazy horse and Mt. Rushmore just up the road. This property is a great stay with three bedrooms, two great baths, two living areas and a great kitchen with brand new appliances for family meals. Enjoy parking in the two car garage. A fire pit out front while you sit and enjoy the deer that come through the property often for a great peaceful experience. Highly recommend this location for family getaways.

Lovely property; highly recommend!
The property was perfect for our stay in the Custer area. A perfect centralized location! The home was clean and very well stocked with everything that is needed for your stay. There was an earlier mention of issues with hot water but I am here to say that we did not have any problems at all for a family of four adults! Really, this property is amazing and will definitely be back! The best part of our stay was the friendly cows. We enjoyed our daily visits with them! Thank you for sharing this property!

Great Stay in Custer
We stayed two nights in this rental in Custer and had everything we needed here. The house was exactly how described, other than you have to really push on the front door to get it open. I thought there was another lock on it but we only had to push hard to get it open. The house had all the appliances and kitchen tools that would be needed for a longer stay. Everything was very clean and we even had a bonus welcoming party of a beautiful buck, doe and fawn in the adjacent yard on our arrival.

Great Stay
Property was a big hit on our trip. We loved going out to see and feed the cows. Wild turkeys and deer also visited the property. The place was perfect for exploring Custer and surrounding area. Even a drive out to the Badlands was not bad. Joy is very nice and great to work with.

4th time to Custer 1st time to the House we loved it!!
We have stayed in Custer 4 times this was the 1st time we stayed here and we really enjoyed it. The house had plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable. The Beds were comfortable the air conditioner only cooled the living room and kitchen during the day so if you were napping in the bedrooms during the day it could get a little warm but in the evening it did cool down so the bedrooms were nice and cool in the evening. There was a fire pit and firewood provided, there were some lawn chairs but they were all old and broken but we did move some benches around and made do with what we had. There were a few kids bikes for the little ones to ride and the yard was kept nice . We saw a few deer running around in the yard in the evening. The house was stocked with all the cooking utensils that we needed to prepare our meals. We had a little issue with the stove but all in all it was a great little house in Custer. This house is also located close to town which made it easy to get groceries and go out to eat.
I would highly recommend this house I've already told many people about our awesome vacation to South Dakota.

Great family location to get away
Everything went very smoothly. The house was super clean and smelled good when we walked in. The beds were comfortable and there was all the things we needed to cook our large family dinner. The property owner was very responsive when we had one question. They even sent someone over with a lighter to make sure we could get a campfire lit :) We will be returning here in years to come. Would highly recommend this house for a family get away. I also really appreciated the fact that the check out list was minimal.

Absolutely amazing
This property is exactly how it is described! When we got there it had been freshly clean beyond expectations and absolutely beautiful. We will be planning our trips back based upon the openings for this house! My only one complaint is the hot water heater doesn’t seem to keep up. 1 shower and washing dishes after dinner left everyone one else like warm showers. But that won’t stop us from coming back!

Great experience in the Black Hills
The truest measure of excellence in renting a vacation home, I've found, is how easy it is to communicate with the owner, and how reponsive they are to issues that arise. Every time you stay anywhere there's a risk that something may come up. For us, we had an issue with the water temperature, which went cold after our first night. These things happen. We reached out to Joy immediately and she was incredibly responsive. She had someone come out the next morning, and by the time we had returned from our adventures in the Black Hills during the day, everything was fixed. I believe that customers have a responsibility to be patient and understanding when they travel and rent another home...owners deserve the chance to assist, and Joy delivered some of the best custome service I've seen. The house is in a fantastic location - just a 5 minute trip to a great grocery store in Custer, and in close proximity to Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the Badlands, Custer State Park...it's an amazing location. Beds were really comfortable, and you could tell that the owners had taken the care to make sure the house was clean. World-class front yard for kids to play on. Overall a fantastic experience, and we can't thank the owners enough for their help and communication during our trip.
