About this cabin rental
Our cabin is located on 2.5 level acres that includes frontage on the northwest shore of beautiful Lake Dunmore. I have enabled a booking restriction on VRBO that prevents guests from booking arrivals and departures on the same day as existing guests' arrivals and departures. This is to give me an overnight stay to do cleaning, laundry, etc. and other things like cutting the lawn, minor repairs. If this is a showstopper for you, please don't hesitate to let me know and will try to make an exception for you.
My wife and I are the only ones that manage change-over between guests. VRBO has provided us with cleaning protocols and effective cleaning and disinfecting products recommended by the CDC for novel viruses, including Covid-19. We have adopted these cleaning protocols to provide you with safe lodging. We provide all renters at check-in an individually wrapped sponge, individually wrapped toilet paper and CDC approved cleaning supplies free of charge. We are continuing these practices even though pandemic issues seem to be fading.
The cabin has two bedrooms on the second floor, one with a queen bed and the second is a twin bed. The full bathroom is modern and on the first floor. The living and dining rooms have beautiful wood paneling. The living room has a futon if you need additional sleeping space for two additional guests. A propane heater is located in the living room on the first floor to keep you warm when the weather is cool. The hot water heater is a fuel efficient, on-demand heater so there is always hot water available if multiple people need to take showers, baths sequentially. The kitchen is well appointed with pots, pans, dishes, modern gas range and oven, microwave, refrigerator, utensils, all of the cooking amenities that you could want. Our wrap-around, screened-in porch provides an ideal location to enjoy the view of the Green Mountains on the opposite shore of the lake or to relax and catch up on your summer reading. The clean water for the cabin is provided by a well located on the property that we test occasionally. We provide free 1 gigabyte wireless internet. Our outside deck has a picnic table, several Adirondack chairs and a gas grill.
Our level 2.5 wooded acres provide easy access to the cabin and the lake and also more privacy than may be available at other smaller properties. The driveway is located right next to the cabin with space for 3 cars. Our lake front is approximately 50 yards from the cabin and is accessible by our private road. The lakefront has a dock suitable for a ski or fishing boat and a swim float. Our large fenced-in yard may be ideal for your family dog. Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the cabin.
Lake Dunmore is located just seven miles south of Middlebury and borders the Green Mtn. national forest. The area is ideal for swimming, hiking, road and mountain biking, fishing.

Just a really comfortable place. You can hang out at the dining table or front porch, classic. The view from the actual floating dock is one of the best on the lake.

Our favorite thing about the cottage was the screened in porch. I slept out on the twin bed on the porch every night! Kitchen was very well stocked with gadgets and spices. The on demand water heater ensures everyone gets hot water.
The only “issues” would be the stairs to the bedrooms is very steep/narrow and no real grab able handrail, not good for people with any kind of mobility issues. The lake access was not the best as there is no “beach” area. It would have been nice to have stairs off the dock.

A quintessential VT lake cottage.

The place is about exactly what you think of when you think of a camp to relax at. Really good kitchen and a really open feel to the dining area and porch. Great for sleeping. Possibility to get a good shorter run/walk in without having to go out on a highway. Walking distance to general store. And the floating dock gives you about the best view of the lake anywhere.

Lovely property - we had a dog and the property is well fenced so we could just let her out to explore - which was good because sadly it rained a lot while we were there. We made the best of it and explored the area - lovely place to "come home to" every day!

We can not say enough wonderful things about our stay. Brian was there to meet us and do a walk though of the property and even helped us out with local places to go. He is a gem! Although it rained it was absolutely perfect. The yard gave our pups a place to run free but there was also cute areas to walk them all around the area. The views of the water are incredible. Just sad it was too cold to jump in... maybe next time. October was the perfect time to see all the leaves changing and breathe the fall air. The porch was great to snuggle up and read and relax. There was plenty of space for us and our 2 medium dogs. Kitchen was stocked with everything we could have needed. Everything was clean and cozy. They have thought of everything. We can not wait to return. Thank you for having us.

Our small family thoroughly enjoyed our fall lake stay at this cabin. We were close to hikes, corn mazes, farms (e.g. Billings) and had a comfortable base. Plenty of kitchen space and fully stocked with dishes and cookware. The porch was awesome for coffee and cocoa. We took a few spins in the canoe out on the lake, too. Absolutely everything we needed was here!

We have stayed here a couple of times and are looking forward to visiting again. The owners take pride in keeping their house clean, organized, and well stocked. They are also very kind and accommodating to their guests, making the stay comfortable and enjoyable. The house is spacious and furnished nicely & screened in porch is a nice bonus. The fenced in yard is very big & it is perfect for our dogs & daughter to safely play! One of our favorite spots to stay! Thank you!

We are in our eighties and spent a wonderful relaxing week in June with our daughter and her husband. It is a pleasant traditional vacation cottage and is very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and the screen porch shaded by giant trees is delightful. We swam in the clear lake off the dock at the end of the private access across the street and launched our kayaks. The neighborhood was very quiet with little traffic and there were very few mosquitoes. Nice area to walk and there are nearby trails as well as a sandy beach at the State park. We would definitely return.

We had an amazing time at Lake Dunmore - the house was excellent for our 5 year old and 8 month old and our dog really loved the fenced in back yard. We loved it!

The sofa wasn’t very comfortable and the stairs going upstairs were not easy to get up. We ended up sleeping downstairs on the futon because we needed to be near the bathroom. The kitchen was very well equipped. The hosts were very helpful.

Incredibly clean, well-appointed, rustic cabin. Not actually on the lake but it's a short walk. Owner's very responsive & helpful with questions.

It was like a home away from home. Everything you needed was there. A grill was available, there was a store nearby. Nice cozy place to hang out. A small walk to the lake. We would definitely stay here again.

First and foremost the owner, Brian went out of his way to handle all our little extra requests. Cottage is quiet and cozy. For us no TV was a little too quaint but luckily our daughter in law who lives in Burlington had one we could borrow and with our Firestick and streaming app we could watch our back home local news and a few other programs we like. The walk to the waterfront dock is easy, short and pleasant. Our Choc Lab thoroughly enjoyed all the swimming activities. The stairway to the upstairs bedrooms is steep and narrow. We are both senior citizens so its certainly doable just go slow and be careful. The grandkids and their parents can for a couple of nights. The kids absolutely had a blast catching small fish from the dock. However with 4 adults and 2 young kids its gets pretty crowded quickly. Finally the fenced in yard for your dog is a wonderful bonus. If it wasn't such a long drive from our home in Florida we would go back in a heartbeat!!

We stayed here at both the beginning of summer, and in the fall.
Brian and Polly keep a beautiful and clean cabin; and are very responsive and pleasant.
Pete the dog loved the fenced in yard, we enjoy the area, there are many excellent hiking trails nearby. We'll be back again !!

This cozy cabin was just right for us and our five year old boxer. The location was great - just steps away from Lake Dunmore, Branbury State Park, tons of hiking trails and only six miles from Middlebury. The cabin was comfortable and well appointed. Our dog loved the fenced in yard too. The owner Brian was easy to work with and very accommodating. We hope to rent again.

Brian met me at the house and gave me a tour of the property and down the street to their private dock. The house was great and had fully stocked kitchen with everything you could possibly want in a kitchen, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, kitchen gadgets…everything! The partial view of the lake across the street is lovely and the backdrop of Fall foliage was stunning! The nice large fenced in yard was awesome for my dog, and kept her busy looking for critters. We had a great stay and experienced a few nice hikes in an area of Vt that we hadn’t explored before. Thank you for renting out your cabin to us Brian!

My spouse, our 7-month old, our medium-sized pup, and I stayed at this cute woodsy cabin for our annual fall trip to VT. We had everything we needed, which included kitchen supplies and a grill for home-cooked meals, and a full bathroom for us and the baby. Our larger dog was not able to get up the narrow stairs, so we decided to sleep downstairs with him, spread ourselves among the futon, couch, and the baby’s pack-and-play, which doubled as a crib. We probably would have been more comfortable in the beds upstairs. We made frequent use of the screened-in patio, which has a small view of the lake across the street. We also frequently enjoyed and the private dock a short walk from the cabin, which was perfect for taking in a vast lake view and enjoying the water. We weren’t able to go out on the water this trip because of the baby, but would have loved the private dock access and row-boat if we could! The nearby Silver Lake Trail was a highlight of the trip.

My family had a great time at Brian’s place, it was clean, well stocked and relaxing. The access to the lake was amazing & exactly what we had hoped for with our boat. Thank you!

This location is very peaceful and quiet with many activities to partake in on the lake. Access to boat rentals or paddle boats. Easy to cook in a fully stocked kitchen. Love the rustic feel of the cabin and the porch & deck were highlights. The dogs loved sitting in the fenced yard. Always a special place for me and my friend’s.

Wonderful relaxing getaway
Our week at Brian and Polly’s cabin was great. The cabin is located in a nice, quiet lakeside neighborhood. Upon entering the cabin the first thing we noticed was the cleanliness and how well organized they keep it. All of the linens were fresh and clean too. Another plus is the fenced in yard which made the stay much easier with our dogs.
The kitchen is well equipped so you will only need groceries for your stay. The internet speed is fast so the little time that I needed to work remotely was not an issue. One thing that we really enjoyed is that there is no TV so you can truly disconnect if you want. We had a bit of rain during our stay so we took that time to explore some neighboring cities. Our favorite was Middlebury where you can get a really good cup of coffee at little seed coffee roasters. We also went to see a movie at Marquis theatre which was a cute little theatre that also serves up Mexican food while you enjoy your movie. We really enjoyed our time spent at the cabin and can’t wait to go back next year!

Perfect place for a family getaway
We had a wonderful time staying in this cozy cottage near Lake Dunmore during my daughter’s college graduation weekend. It was clean, full of charm and very well equipped. There was plenty of room for five family members and we enjoyed relaxing on the screened porch in the evenings, walking the trails and taking in the lake views at the dock. Brian was a fantastic host who gave us all the information we needed about the place and the area. We would highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for accommodation in the Middlebury area.

Cabin at the Lake
We had a lovely time at the cabin. It was an ideal location, very quiet yet close to all the places we planned to visit. We would love to stay again during a warmer month and enjoy the porch which was so inviting.

Charming lakeside cottage
We enjoyed our 10 day autumn stay. The kitchen is well appointed and there is plenty of room for 3 adults or 4 with small children. The area seems like it might be busier in the summer but it was peaceful for our stay.

Hidden Gem Getaway
Brian’s cabin and property was delightful. Very cozy, fully stocked kitchen, thoroughly cleaned, and very responsive. It’s not “luxurious” but it had exactly what we were looking for in terms of a cabin getaway, and more. The lake is a minute’s walk away and has breathtaking views. You’re near great hikes and can take day trips to Stowe or Middlebury (both of which we did). Nearby grocery stores for all your cooking needs, or you can find nice home-style cooking in nearby restaurants. Would absolutely re-book and will definitely be recommending to friends/family. Thanks Brian!

Very quiet old timey lake camp with great kitchen stuff
We loved our stay at this old-timey and immaculately clean, well-appointed, thoughtfully decorated, and comfortable camp. So many cozy nooks, a quiet and cozy porch, great kitchen pots, knives, and gadgets. Ample woods, lack of busy road, fenced yard, and a short walk to the dock were perfect for dogs, and we enjoyed paddling, swimming, drinking coffee, and watching the moon rise. I wish the dock were a smidge wider for the drinking coffee (e.g. had more of a platform for sitting), but it worked ok for just the 2 of us. Friends came over for dinner and there was plenty of room to hang out. We hope to come back!

very quiet, comfortable cottage
Brian was very gracious and accommodating. He made a special trip back to help me get connected to the internet when I couldn't using WIFI. The use of his uncle's beach to launch our kayaks ( heavy fiberglass) was extremely helpful. I'm not sure we could've done it by Brian's dock, given the size of our kayaks. The cottage was very comfortable and cozy. However the steep stairs could be a challenge for someone with hip/knee problems. Overall, a very enjoyable stay!
