Whether it’s a romantic interlude, family fun or peaceful solitude by the sea, our guest apartment--Deja Bu--is right where you want to be for a lovely coastal escape. You can’t help but love the ‘Bu (Malibu to locals)!

For 3-4 people, it can easily be converted to a two-bedroom apt. by simply unlocking a door. If you need two bedrooms, contact us.

This charming 1 bedroom/1bath guest apartment boasts your own private ocean-view patio, private entrance, full kitchen, washer/dryer, fully-tiled floors and high-quality furnishings. Located on a quiet street just 400 yards from the ocean as the crow flies and a two-minute drive, the enchanting blue Pacific fills the expansive window views from every room in the apartment. In fact, you’ll never get tired of gazing over the beguiling and ever-changing ocean from the queen-sized bed. From our elevation of 380 feet on a clear day, you can see several Channel Islands including Catalina, and if you’re lucky, you might even spy a whale and her calf on their way north from Mexico.

Within minutes of Malibu’s gorgeous beaches including world-famous Zuma Beach, Leo Carrillo Beach and Paradise Cove, and a plethora of hiking and mountain biking trails that join the 65-mile Backbone Trail in the Santa Monica Mountains, this apartment is also just a short drive from Pepperdine University, the Malibu Pier, wineries, the world-renowned Getty Villa antiquities museum, and notable Malibu shops and restaurants. The apartment is also an excellent starting point for road bicyclists riding the scenic Pacific Coast Highway route to Point Mugu. For touring by car, it is approximately 45 minutes from Santa Monica and 75 minutes from Santa Barbara. Many of Los Angeles’ museums, including the famed Getty Center and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), are within a 60-minute drive.

You have access to a secluded, ocean-view citrus orchard just steps from your apartment. Pick your own delicious tangerines, oranges and grapefruit when in season. And there is no aroma as seductive as orange blossoms at dusk. The orchard also offers a beanbag bag toss game, if you get tired of just relaxing.

But we’re still far enough from the city lights to offer views of starry nights, the milky way, moonglow on the ocean, and even the occasional night-time rocket launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base.

We were very impressed with our stay here. The view of the Pacific Ocean and close proximity to everything in Malibu places this on the top of our list. We will definitely return here in the future. Also, the get acquainted binder was very helpful to reference regarding the apartment, restaurants in the area, and other attractions.

The view of Ventura coast from the apartment is beautiful. There’s some great hikes a few miles up from the house. My husband really like sitting outside at the table every morning to have breakfast. The apartment is part of the owner’s house. We hardly heard them moving around above us. The apartment does smell musty and damp, not sure if this was from the furniture or the apartment itself, even after trying to air it - the smell remained. We did contact the owner to ask him to change the polyester bed sheets and he didn’t get back to us for a day, in which time we’d bought our own cotton sheets. He apologized and I believe it was a genuine oversight.

Our small family of 3 just LOVED staying at Larry’s place! It was perfect for what we needed and wanted. Larry was very easy to communicate with. He and his wife were so helpful and kind! He helped us with our booking process. They were on location when we arrived to teach us how to park and where everything was. They were incredibly quiet, which is everything we needed more when we stay at vrbo’s. The location was gorgeous! The kitchenette had everything we needed too! I would absolutely stay here again, and recommend it to anyone!!!

I loved my stay at Larry’s place. It’s a great location close to the beach and hiking areas. Larry and his wife are welcoming and hospitable. I stayed by myself this time but would love come back with family because I think it has all the right amenities for adult to children to enjoy, especially the garden in the back yard if you just want to relax with family. Very pleased with our stay in Malibu. Host's had all the items necessary for an easy, worry free get away. Location is the best. Recommend hitting Chamblee trail/park for an awesome, yet easy walk with great views. Will be back if Larry/Nancy wants us!

We stayed for a week at the property with two children ages 7 and 5. Amazing ocean views from every area of the unit. Very comfortable rooms. Fruit trees in the back. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the rental for you. The hosts are very responsive. Would stay again for sure.

In need of a restful break, we found this lovely apartment. Quiet, beautifully situated, private, and those views... we fully enjoyed the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets on the covered patio. The close proximity to local beaches was so convenient. A very clean and well-stocked apartment, including TV and good wi-fi. Though not fancy, it was very comfortable. The "enchanted citrus grove" was an added bonus, as were the freshly picked tangerines and grapefruit. The hosts are lovely people, and we hope to return as often as we can!

This was a relaxing stay for a memorable girls trip!! The house had all the amenities needed and Larry was available by text and greeted us when we arrived at the property. With this being our first ever VRBO experience, we were unsure what to expect; BUT, Larry was a TERRIFIC host and we couldn't ask for a more warm, receptive, polite and gracious host during our staying. He kept us in the loop about everything and was very responsive when we had questions. Extremely BEAUTIFUL property with budget friendly rates. LOVED our stay here from all angles--perfect for people/families on a strict budget like ours, who know what they want (ocean view); but without the heavy price tag. Larry and Nancy are the ultimate hosts professional polite and courteous. The property was clean and I can't even describe to you in words how beautiful it is the pictures are amazing as well but to truly see its beauty you just have to be there. You will not be disappointed one bit. We are planning on returning very soon and also plan to make Larry and Nancy's deja bu a regular spot. Thanks again for having us we had a wonderful time!
