This was our third stay. Here are the pros. Location & Price. You can’t beat it! However, it is warm without AC. Warm weather attracts flies and the unit is next to the garbage bins. The bed is just too low for me. Now if you can get past these cons this will be the place for you. We have done it three summers in a row and really enjoyed it. We stayed the longest this trip. 10 days!!! Now 10 days in 250 sf is not for everyone. But the beach is right down the street so that makes everything else better. We would return again. Love it if it would be able to be rented for a long weekend verses the 7 day minimum.

We enjoyed our stay at Beachcomber. The apartment is small, but it had everything we needed to have a comfortable week long stay. The kitchen is great with a full size range and all the equipment we needed. The living room has a small sectional that opened to a queen bed size so we could comfortably relax while watching YouTube TV. It was nice that the apartment had a smart tv and some streaming services to use. The bedroom was small and tight, but the mattress was conformable and bedding was good quality. It is noteworthy to mention the bed is very low. The private patio was a good size and quite lovely with the privacy trees and rustic brick pavers. We had our dog with us, so the patio was a godsend to allow him freedom to roam and get fresh air. There are also patio furnishings for dining and lounging. The weather was cool and breezy so with the windows opened, we had wonderful airflow and coolness. Parking was surprisingly easy and accessible within just a couple of driveways away. The check in process was easy and locking up was worry free. The Windansea Beach was 2 blocks away. The area was not too busy during the week and on weekends it was slightly busy. We enjoyed this beach much more than at some of the larger san diego beaches. There was plenty of restaurants and grocery shops within walking distance. Larger chain stores were just a few minutes drive away as well. This was our first time to the La Jolla area and we loved it. We hope to stay again next year.

La Jolla is beautiful. Sea Lions and the cove were a delight. Location on Gravilla is close to the waves and a nice walk to endless entertainment options.

We enjoyed being able to walk to the beach multiple times each day, and having stores and restaurants close was a plus. Comfortable, well equipped and clean. I would recommend this property.

The suite is at a fantastic location. 1 block from the beach. You can walk to shops, restaurants and grocery stores within 20 -30 min. The suite is in a great neighborhood and felt very safe when out walking. We used Uber to get around. The suite is a bit old with an updated bathroom but overall a great place and i would definitely come back again. Pictures are accurate. Owners replied quickly with any questions.
Thankyou for the great time we had.

I debated on if I was going to leave a review.VRBO prompted so I figured I might as well.
Likes and dislikes:
-This place is super cute and it definitely didn’t feel small. It was small but the layout maximized the space.
-There is an odd smell, we bought air fresheners to help with this.
-There is a washer and dryer, but you have to be flexible with the times you need to wash and hit try to beat others.
-There were bugs. I hate bugs. I had to sleep on the front room(read other points below for details) and after seeing the bugs, I couldn’t sleep as I was scared they’d crawl on me in my sleep.
-there is a door in the bedroom. When I asked about it I was told it was “sealed” and backs up to a laundry room. This was completely FALSE. There was a bit of dirt on the floor near the door so my daughter inspected. It lead to someone else’s back patio. I ended up just sleeping in the front room the remainder of my stay. When my 16 year had to stay with me, we both just slept on the pullout in the living area.
I have pictures of the “alarm” system I set up in case anyone tried to enter.
Needless to say I did not get much sleep during my stay and won’t be staying here again.

Another lovely week at the beach and second time staying here. What can I say except how much I love coming to La Jolla and this little beach pad. Thank you. This VRBO has everything, albeit small—it’s filled with all the amenities one needs for a getaway. My only constructive critique is a year later the wear of the kitchen is beginning to tell the tale of all who have been there. I guess the positive is it’s a popular little place —getting lots of use. Perhaps in between all the guest stays the owner will be able to get the repairs complete. I can see it’s booked up until October. Amazing and good for them and all who get to stay here. Despite the little maintenance tasks—It truly is a great little find. We absolutely loved our time staying here, cooking and dining alfresco. The patio is one of our favorite aspects. Thank you for the memories and we will be back again next summer. We wish all who stay here a lovely stay and hope you relax and appreciate this rare find as much as we do.

Loved that we were a little away from the hassle and bustle, yet very walkable to restaurants, shops, and the beach.

Nice clean property close to several good restaurants, nice neighborhood to walk around, close to beach where many neighbors gather at sunset, would definitely return, agree that La Jolla is definitely a jewel!

Great location, two blocks to the beach. Quiet neighborhood. Great walking. Immediate bus access. Well-appointed kitchen. Great for one or two guests.

The location is great, the unit is not. The most accurate description is: Bare minimum. If you're staying for a weekend, it'll do the trick. For such a high price and low quality though, we would not recommend it to anyone staying longer unless significant changes are made.
The unit is connected to the building's garbage room, which means the patio and unit gets lots of bugs. We stepped barefoot on 2 cockroaches in the middle of the night throughout our stay. The mesh screen door works ok. It had holes in it so flies regularly got in, even after the host came by to sew them by hand.
The bedroom gets no airflow so it's much hotter inside than outside. Any warm day makes the room unusable even after the host provided an extra fan. That meant we slept on the pull out couch. The host explained that the couch is covered in stains because many guest's wet dogs lay on it. The host later offered to put a couch cover.
The kitchen faucet and shower head were crusted with enough green limescale buildup that the latter had to be replaced by the host.
Ultimately, the host is responsive but falls short of truly fixing things. The unit is mostly held together by bandaids. Your best bet is a different location for longer stays.

My husband has a bad back so the couch and bed were not very comfortable for him

Out of office reply; The beach is calling and I must go!
La jolla is the perfect getaway! We loved our stay. Tip: pack lightly. While, there is minimum storage there is also an onsite laundry adjacent to the unit. Therefore, you can wash a few things rather then bringing bulky suitcases. The small closet can only store two suitcases.
We loved the outside patio. Spent time lounging outside and ate our dinner out there too! We brought our bikes with tons of room and stored them there too.
We like to explore a lot so the place was fine (being very small) we spent more time at the beach and sightseeing then inside anyway. Best of all it was close proximity to everything! We went sightseeing most everyday. Either by foot, bike, or trolley. When we did drive we found parking when we returned with no problem.
The condo was close to: Torrey pines golf course, pacific beach, Kate sessions park, Sail bay, balboa park, zoo, down town…we were 15 minutes to everything!
Tip: balboa station is a 10 min commute. Park your car there and take the trolley (light rail) to little Italy or downtown. Parking in SD is expensive and hard to come by.
We stayed 7 days and probably should have stayed longer. There is so much to see and do, we just didn’t see it all.
We will be back!

Sweet Beach Pad
Really enjoyed our seven day stay as this was clean and had all we needed for the two of us. Decided not to bring out dog and glad because he is pretty big but this would be fine for a small pet. The space is very small but with the small outside patio made it work for our needs. Hope we can return next summer

Fun in Southern California
Check in was great! Short walk to the beautiful Windnsea beach. Beach chairs, towels and umbrella provided. The rental is small but the 12×22 foot private courtyard makes up for it. Very safe area, people were all friendly. We are planning our next trip.

Great location, perfect for 2
A small space nicely done, good for 2 people. Kitchen stocked to cook at home and close to resto's if you want to go out. Patio nice for reading/relaxing/dining. (A second lounge chair would have been nice.) Quiet area about a block to the beach. WiFi and TV worked great. Great launching spot to enjoy all of San Diego, would love to come again on next trip. Thanks for a pleasant stay!

Charming stay with a great patio!
The location is just fabulous being just stones throw away from the beach. The bus 30 - 50 ft from the house connected us to La Jolla village where all the activities are. The neighborhood is safe and dotted with beautiful homes. The neighbors on the property are quiet and indifferent to others.
The house is on the ground floor with a very nice front patio which was our highlight. Though the patio furnitures could be a bit cleaner and comfortable. .This place is ideal for 1 person. We were two friends staying and made it work. The sofa cum bed in the living room becomes a separate room if one needs privacy. I will admit that the place is a bit tight. So would recommend pack smart and light. The bathroom is pretty nice but min storage. Shower is delightful.
The kitchen is wonderfully stocked with kitchenware. Laundry is on property but shared with neighbors which became a problem cause one neighbor ran laundry all day every day.
Also unlike other Airbnbs, you won’t find travel amenities like blow dryer, shampoo, body soap, toothpaste etc. but there is a standing fan and a heater that came handy. But only one comforter for the main bedroom.
We got lucky initially not having anybody at the upstairs property. But the last 2 days one can hear heavy footsteps, stomping late in the night and early mornings which could be annoying.
The host is responsive and nice. Gave great instructions for staying on the property.
I’ll definitely come back if am by myself.

Cozy unit near the Pacific
This unit is small for sure but fully functional! I would recommend for only 2 people. Has a complete kitchen, living area with nice tv and a comfy bed along with a very nice outdoor patio. All the essentials for a good home base to explore SD from including good WiFi. Owners made excellent use of mirrors and smaller furniture to offset the living space. Everything you need to know is explained in a nicely organized pdf you receive that includes recommendations on things to do and places to eat. No AC but fans provided. Beautiful LaJolla sunsets over the Pacific are a 5 minute walk down the block!

One bedroom unit with small but well stocked kitchen, plenty of dishes and cookware and a delightful outdoor space. A short walk to Windansea Beach. The place was spotless and well cared for.

Nice
Pros:
Very cute.
Great job with maximizing a tiny space.
Functional kitchen with really everything you need.
The shower is amazing. Both in pressure and temperature.
Internet was good.
Host response was super quick.
Had no issues with parking.
Cons:
The gate really needs to be fixed. At least a handle put on the inside so you can pull it shut properly.
Loud street traffic, landscapers and neighbors during most days. Not an issue though, if you won’t be hanging out there during that day.
Lots of flies around from the recycling and garbage cans.
Dead plants on patio should be removed.
Overall was ok. Probably wouldn’t stay here again unless couldn’t find anything else. But again, the shower was amazing 😊.

Great location but?
Great location and clean but...It was so hot even with the windows open and the fans on high even at night. The door entrance needed a sun shade curtain and a screen to keep the flies and mosquitoes out. The patio area was infested with flies that loved to enter whenever we entered. The bedroom window was never used due to small torn holes which mosquitoes loved. Never used the BBQ due to the fact that there was no replacement aluminum foil as indicated in the house rules of use. Left a day early.

Dream stay by the beach
It is a dream to walk out the front door and see the ocean. I loved hearing the seagulls from the lovely patio. The neighborhood is also a wonderful for being able to walk everywhere. The property has everything you need. Yes, as other reviewers have noted, the flies from the trash can be bothersome, the property can be a bit stuffy given there is not a ton of airflow, and it is odd that there is no light in the shower. However, I found these minor inconveniences for the location and value. And Sharon is attentive and a great communicator. I would stay there again!

Beachcomber's Hideaway
It was a very nice experience with our small dog. The entrance gate needs attention as it is hard to close and we did not like walking past many recycle bins every time we came in or out. Our recycle bin had not been emptied and was quite full when we arrived. Also there were dead plants on the patio that obviously needed attention. There was a stain on the gray sofa that we covered with a beach towel not knowing what it might have been. We think the upholstery needs to be cleaned and new throw pillows would add a nice touch!

Cute Place!!
Stayed alone for a week, perfect for me, good location (short walk to beach) but neighborhood is just a bit run down (boarded up restaurant, vacant lot). Property is small (as described) but was very clean, kitchen had everything you would need, laundry just outside was convenient, and patio was awesome! Walked to restaurants and shops multiple times, perfect distance, got my steps in. WiFi worked great. I would definitely come back with spouse or alone.

La Jolla Hideaway
You can't beat the location to one of the best beaches ever. Truly special in that way. The apartment was very clean and Sharon was so quick to respond to questions I had. She was the best in every way! One kicker, the TV did not work, unless I disconnected the cable to jump start it again. So got used to the 15 minute ritual to wait for it to turn on, but staying in many Airbnb's in San Diego, I have quickly discovered that Spectrum is problematic...wherever I've stayed.
The housekeeping was also top notch! Many personal touches and so respectful towards my belongings.
The only downer is the entrance. Through your gate, you have to walk between the line of recycling cans and garbage shed. if there could be a way to relocated the cans somehow that would be awesome!
Neighbors also were very nice, and the place was quiet at night and very cozy. Thank you Sharon!

Small apartment but the location was fabulous and spacing was optimized to be quite comfortable. Finishes were updated and tasteful. Would recommend for a couple wanting to be away from the busy crowds of La Jolla and Pacific Beach.

delightful little hideaway in La Jolla, minutes from beach, ocean
Cute little place perfect for two plus our lil dog Audrey. The kitchen was perfect, had the basics, but bring spices & S/P if you plan to do some real cooking- but with so many great place to eat out in PB, SD, we didn't stay in much. On rainy eves, plenty of channels to surf, desk/ table area for work , bedroom foam mattress was cozy, loved the bathroom decor/shower. Will definitely stay here again.

Fab space, with incredible outside patio. It is a block from the most beautiful beach in Windansea. A true gem! I’ve already booked my next stay to come back. Hosts were incredible and on top of any requests. Thank you for the wonderful stay! ❤️

Perfect spot for a La Jolla getaway! Cozy apartment with all you need for two. Kitchen had all the implements to make some fine meals. TV room/lounge well layed out - clean bathroom and bedroom tucked away. Well kept place - kind of small but had everything we needed to launch into our vacation. Spacious back patio with table and chairs - we spent a lot of time outside - our dog totally loved it too! Totally enjoyed strolling down to the end of the street to the beach - spent a lot of time there. Highly recommend this for a couple (and dog if you got one)!

La Jolla Getaway
This unit is definitely a tiny house! But we got used to it!
Also, it has a good size patio that is very private an we used that a lot.
The house is well appointed. The kitchen had everything you would need except, I would suggest, salt and pepper shakers.
The bed was very comfortable.
A good tv in the living room with any cable station you would want.
In the bath, I would suggest leaving a bar of soap or a bottle of body wash for renters. Great shower.
A great location—loved being so close to the beach!
As for parking, it was hit or miss throughout the week . We parked in front of the unit to having to park on the next street.
All in all, a very nice tiny house!!
