About this house rental
Come enjoy a beautiful and spacious 4000 square foot, seven bedroom, three bath home in the beautiful community of Tahoe Donner along with all the activities the Truckee area is famous for. If you don't know about Tahoe Donner, its the largest homeowners association in the United States with a $30 million dollar annual budget and owns its own downhill ski area, a world class cross country ski area, a golf course and driving range, a marina and beach on Donner Lake, as well as clubhouses, pools, hot tubs, workout rooms, exercise equipment, two restaurants, and a deli/food store, all of which is accessible to guests.
Our home is located on a level lot with plenty of sun and has a large garage and 10 car driveway. Enjoy the great room, filled with huge windows and natural light, vaulted pine ceilings and a river rock natural gas fireplace. Relax in the large living area and enjoy the giant 86 inch TV with every channel imaginable including YouTubeTV (ABC/CBS/NBC/ESPN/CNN/most cable channels), Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, and Starz. There are five additional 55" TV's throughout the house. All have the same streaming TV packages. The house has a 400 mbps Internet connection and mesh WiFi, enough to stream multiple channels of Netflix and anything else you can think of simultaneously. Unlimited local and US long distance calling is provided via a VoIP phone.
This is a smart home, and its equipped with Amazon's Echo (Alexa) in the Great Room and Dots in all of the bedrooms. If you say "Alexa, whats the weather outside", she will answer you. You can request all kinds of music from it - just ask her. Rather than figuring out the alarm, just say "Alexa, set an alarm for 8:15am". I can turn the outdoor lights on and off with home automation, as well as turn on the heat before you arrive so everything is nice and toasty when you get there!
The house is protected by a whole house generator that automatically kicks on if the power goes out. Its fueled with Natural Gas so it never runs out. Don't worry about being stranded in a blizzard or other epic event - you will be warm and cozy no matter what.
The large open kitchen has granite countertops, a giant island with bar seating for four+, and all the cooking accessories that you will need including: giant microwave, four slice toaster (fits bagels), infrared toaster oven, KitchenAid mixing stand, rice cooker, Keurig single cup coffee maker, Mr. Coffee 12 cup, and a separate hot water maker. The gas cooktop has a two burner griddle that makes the best pancakes, french toast, and grilled cheese sandwiches. We now have two full size stainless steel refrigerators in the kitchen. The first is quite large, has side-by-side doors with an easy in/out door embedded inside the door, and an external ice and water dispenser. The second refrigerator is meant for overflow, drinks, large trays, and doubles our fridge capacity. We recently added a bulk ice maker for filling coolers. There is a brand new super quiet Bosch dishwasher. For the sous chef in you, there is a second sink in the island with a disposal - very convenient for chopping everything up. A large dining table seats ten comfortably, 4+ can fit at the bar, and 4 more at the pub table. There is also a 6' folding table and chairs that can be brought out for another 6-8 dining seats, depending on how you want to lay things out.
Out the sliding glass doors you'll find an expansive back deck. There is a natural gas fire pit for keeping warm and making smores under the starlit sky, as well as a Weber natural gas grill for steaks and burgers. There is an enormous 14' long outdoor "King Arthur" dining table made from recycled redwood that seats 16+ people comfortably. Below the deck is a brand new extra large luxury hot tub where eight people can relax and soak together while recounting the days exploits.
We have lots of big summer toys available - 2 kayaks, 3 standup paddle boards, roof mount straps and foam protectors, 7 bikes, wagon for carrying everything, beach sand toys, squirt guns, tennis rackets, and lots more.
In the winter we have a variety of sleds and snow discs, snow shoes, as well as lots of shovels for building snow forts. We have even built a luge/bobsled run during one epic winter that went about 150'.
On the main level, you will find the large master bedroom #1 with vaulted pine ceilings, king bed, access to the back deck, a master bathroom with an oversized shower and a separate jetted tub, twin sinks, and a spacious walk in closet with two luggage stands.
Next to the master bedroom there is another bedroom #2 with a queen bed in it. We often set this up as an office when every bedroom is not needed. If you set it up this way, we have a 42" monitor and printer available, just bring your HDMI or DisplayPort/Thunderbolt laptop. There is also a 32" monitor in the cubby/desk in the kitchen.
Downstairs there is an oversized second master bedroom #3 with a king size log bed, another bedroom #4 with a Queen bed, and the playroom/bunkroom/bedroom #5 has a twin over full log bunk bed as well as a twin bed along with two couches, a TV and a game area.
Above everything is the kids loft bunkroom/playroom/bedroom #6 which has been fully enclosed with soundproof bank glass. It has a twin over full log bunk bed as well as two more twin beds.
There is also a bonus room located on the upper level with a queen bed - note that the ceiling height is a bit short, having a sloped ceiling that starts out at 7' on one side and descends gently to about 3' on the far side. The room is decent sized at about 13' wide but a bit narrow at 7'. As a 7th bedroom with full privacy, its wonderful.
Two of the bedrooms (those with bunk beds) are generally intended as playrooms for the kids and both have TV's, XBox One's, books, games, and toys. The downstairs bunkroom/playroom has two full sized couches for TV watching and XBox action, and a big ottoman for gathering around and game playing. The upstairs bunkroom/playroom has a TV and XBox One. Both rooms are great spaces for the kids to do their own thing.
The bed layout is:
Master - King - very large bedroom
2nd Master downstairs - King - another very large bedroom
Queen bedroom downstairs
Queen bedroom on main level (a little on the small side)
Attic room with a queen bed on upper level (lowered ceiling)
Downstairs bunkroom / playroom - twin over full bunkbed; twin bed; 2 couches; ottoman - very large room
Loft / bunkroom / playroom - twin over full bunkbed; 2 twin beds - very large room
All of the very large rooms can easily fit multiple air mattresses if necessary.
There is a small format combination foosball, air hockey, ping pong, and pool table in the garage.
This is a luxury rental and we try to take care of everything possible. Bed linens and bath towels are provided. Toilet paper is included and it's the real thing, not the awful commercial stuff. Paper towels, napkins, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, ziploc bags in three different sizes, trash bags, Pantene shampoo and conditioner, bath wash, hand soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, condiments, spices, a variety of Keurig K-Cup coffee flavors, hot chocolate, Krusteaz pancake mix, maple syrup, and more are all provided - there is no reason to fill your car with any of these bulky items. We try to keep the house stocked for you just like home. You will probably find that this is the best stocked rental house you have ever gone to.
If there is no same-day renter before or after you, we also offer early check-in and late check-out too – that way you can be out and active all day at the end of your trip and still come back to the house. We have never liked how hotels give you an extra hour for late checkout - we give you the rest of the day when possible.

Great location and home! Well stocked, comfortable, great outdoor deck. Perfect for our family. We had a few houses to accommodate our group of 29, but this was the house we used for family dinners with everyone and it was very comfortable! Highly recommend! Owners (Anne) communicated very well throughout the process!

This house has everything you’d need for a family gathering in the mountains.fully loaded with everything from beach toys to pancake mix, the owners thought of everything. Communication with property manager was excellent. We had som e persisting internet issues which we were able to communicate quickly with the owner and resolve. The power went out for 12 hours and so having a generator that kicked on was extremely helpful.
We will be back for sure.

We had an awesome stay here for a ski trip. The house was perfect for large groups, with large sofas, roomy hot tub, and a nice long dining table. There was plenty of room for everyone and all the cars we had. The best part was their flexible check in and check out policy. I would definitely come back again.

We stayed at this wonderful home with a large group of kindergarten families. What a great sett up for all ages! The kids had a blast sleeping in the bunk room. The house was so very, very well equipped--it met all of our needs. And the hosts were solicitous and prompt in their communications. We will definitely return for another big getaway!

Stayed here with family for a ski trip. The property has it all. Room for everyone. The house was well stocked with everything you could need. We had a massive snow storm and we were fine with the storm. Would definitely recommend this house for any large group of people family and friends. I would look into staying again the next time I am in town with a large group again.

This home has it all. It really feels like you are staying in your own place with all of the amenities and stocked kitchen. The owners go above and beyond to communicate with you proactively in order to improve your stay. We stay in rentals frequently and this is easily one of the top spots we have been to. Thank you!

We choose this home for the set up. We had a teacher training weekend retreat with 12 teachers and needed 12 beds as well as an area for lessons and presentations. The space was perfect for both.
We also needed a kitchen that would work for collaborative meal preparation for the group. Having two fridges was helpful. The outdoor table was appreciated. Everything was perfect for our group. I would recommend this listing for any type of group. The giant stuffed animal was a hit with all the adults on the trip!
Thank you

We really enjoyed our stay here. The proximity to Tahoe, the Truckee river and Northstar drew us in. We had a group of 12 and everyone had their own individual bed. Great amenities and great for groups. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again in the future. Thanks for hosting!

We have a tight group of 4 first cousins that like to get together yearly. We all have families with children ranging from 26-8 years old. Most of the time we have to get 2 different homes and are split up. This year we splurged to rent this home that could accommodate all 16 of us. It was magical. If you are thinking of a big combined family event, this home is a great option.

The owners have gone out of their way to make sure that every possible creature comfort has been made available to guests. Our group of ten adult males, gathering for a reunion had nothing but great things to say about their accommodations.

Lovely quiet location, house well-appointed.
Could use more pillowcases as there weren’t enough. Terrific hot tub and lots of huge TVs. Games fun for kids. Had trouble getting codes to check in, until I called the owner- never got them in advance. Would have liked an 11 am checkout instead of 10 am.

We were all impressed with how the house was well stocked with everything, from cooking oil, spices, ketchup, hand towels, to toilet paper, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner. We were never out of anything! We all loved how everything was organized and labeled. It helped with our group, which was so big, not having to repeat where everything was all the time. We had plenty of space to spread out but also be together to hang out and play Family Fued! Scott and Anne were great at communicating with us in a timely manner. We would love to book this house if we ever come back!

The property was perfect for our offsite meeting. Plenty of room to spread out and the home was clean and well kept. If you stay here and are looking for someone to prepare meals for you, Chef Brynn (Nourish) was amazing! There was so much snow and the ELT had a solid day of skiing as well. Highly recommend this place.

Well stocked Tahoe cabin in a great location perfect for a multi-family getaway. We visited in December and were lucky enough to have fresh snow. The kids had ample snow to play in the backyard and frontyard. Amazingly stocked, very clean, cozy and spacious. Great communication with host. Will definitely look to rent again.

5 Star Price with "Below Expectations" Customer Service
Our stay coincided with a record breaking snowstorm and road closures from the Bay Area and Reno. Long story short, when we finally arrived on what should have been the third day of our stay, the cleaners were still cleaning (we ended up helping by finishing two loads of laundry for them and organizing the trash), dishwasher was overflowing and leaking on to the floor and amenities cards (for Tahoe Donner) were missing. While owners were responsive, communication became contentious when I asked for a refund for the two nights that were missed.
After much back and forth, the owners agreed to refund only one night. (Mind you, no one could have rented the house due to road closures and they could not get the cleaners in anyways.) I appreciate this was a very unique situation but with a property in this price range and an unprecedented storm, I expected more compassion and flexibility.

We were able to have a family event. It was so fun and memorable. Host was very responsive to any questions. Thanks Anne for sharing your home.

Great Truckee Mountain Home
We stayed here with 2 other families for a winter ski week - hitting up both Northstar and Squaw. The house is spacious, clean, and very well stocked, while the hosts were fantastic communicators. There were lots of TVs and games to keep the kids entertained, while the kitchen and pantry allowed the chefs in the group to whip up delicious meals. There wasn't a vent over the stove though, so I would recommend grilling outdoors for anything smoky.

Fantastic Home
Our group had the best time at Anne & Scott's home! Everything was well stocked and we were surprised to find items most rentals don't include. The beds and couch were comfortable and everything in the house worked perfectly. Check in/out was easy and we appreciated the ability to check in early and out late. Our group will definitely be back!!!

Beautiful luxury home & setting
Scott’s and Anne’s home is so well designed for dwelling together and enjoying life with others you enjoy being with. It’s so beautiful and comfortable and very well equipped inside and out. My 3 generations of family LOVED hanging out on the fabulous deck each evening. We especially enjoyed sharing dinner each night at the huge deck table with food we prepared together in the ample and amply equipped and supplied kitchen. This is the 2nd time in 3 years we’ve stayed at Scott’s and Anne’s lovely, large home. They are excellent owners who have always been very helpful and accommodating with ever detail during both our stays. We will definitely look forward to returning to this special place.
