About this apartment rental
Ski season is here, and your winter or spring break getaway is clean and ready for you at Purgatory Resort in Durango, Colorado! Our beautifully furnished condo is the ultimate ski in, ski out experience! We now have a brand new, expanded back patio as of Fall 2020! Pop those skis off and take a break on our brand new, expanded deck before getting back out there for a few more runs!
At Edelweiss #7, you're walking distance from the Purgatory Resort Village, where you can enjoy summer and fall activities including the Alpine Slide and the new Inferno Coaster! If mountain biking is more your speed, you can easily bike down to the chairlifts and uplift to the top of the mountain!
For some more casual summer and fall fun, there are plenty of hiking trails that you can access just by walking out the door, and even more within a few minutes driving distance. At Purgatory Resort, we're just up the mountain from historic Downtown Durango where you can enjoy shopping and fine dining.
During your stay, try out a day trip to the charming Silverton, Colorado, a former mining camp with plenty of history or Animas Forks, a ghost town which was one of the highest mining camps in the U.S. For the real history buffs, you'll be able to make a day trip to Mesa Verde, an ancestral home of the Pueblo people who made their homes in the sides of the cliffs at this truly spectacular archeological site.
As far as accommodations go, our unit comfortably sleeps 9 guests, assuming the king and queen beds are being shared. The downstairs master bedroom has a king sized bed, with another king sized bed in our first upstairs guest room. The second upstairs guest room has a queen bed, and there are two more twin beds in the upstairs loft perfect for the kids!
The newly renovated kitchen is well stocked with cutlery, cookware, and new appliances including a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and electric stove and cooktop. We even have a Crockpot and a Keurig mini, which were some special requests from some previous guests. For real coffee experts, we have a standard coffee pot available as well.
My brother and I (the owners) want to make your experience as comfortable as possible, so if there is something that you need that isn't shown as part of the listing, please don't hesitate to contact us directly through VRBO - we are happy to order anything from Pack-n-Play's to large casserole dishes to make your stay that much easier.
There's plenty to do at Purgatory Resort and in Durango, and memories to be made. If it's your first time visiting the area or if you've been coming to Durango for decades, when you stay at Edelweiss #7 you'll be part of the Edelweiss family! We look forward to seeing you in the mountains!
In the summer and fall the slope side location gives you a scenic view of the aspen woods behind the Edelweiss complex. Be on the lookout for wildlife, and even some mountain bikers coming through the trails in the woods behind the property!
FAQs:
Do you have access to the pool at the resort?
No, we are not members of the club at the resort so we do not have access to the amenities down at the lodge.
Do you have an outdoor grill?
Due to the high risk of wildfires in the area, we have opted to not have an outdoor grill.
Many properties say they are ski in, ski out. Are you actually on the ski slope?
Yes! This is the beauty of this property. You are steps away from the actual ski slope, and when the trails are open you are able to walk a few steps onto the mountain, put on your skis, and go directly down to the lift. You can also ski back around to the condo, no walking required!

We were in the area to run the Kendall Mountain Run in Silverton. The location was nicely located between Silverton and Durango where there was more options for food and groceries. There was lots to do on the ski mountain and great access out the back doo to take the dogs out for a little morning walk. We also enjoyed watching the mountain bikers take the jumps on the trail behind the condo.

Great place right on the slopes. It is listed as a 5 bedroom, but it is actually 3 bedrooms with twins in the loft and a pull out sofa in the living room. It was plenty of room for our family of 6. Would definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed the property and ski in ski out location. Our teens could play outside while we Sat and enjoyed the sunny deck.
Very responsive hosts!

It was great!

We took our 2 grownups and new daughter in-law snow skiing and decided to secure this property. Primary reason to choose this place was the ski in/out, the property did not disappoint. Ski out from your back step, ski in the same. After the lifts closed we had so much fun on the back porch just enjoying the beauty, this condo is truly front and center. The condo was perfect for us. In the evenings the wood burning fire place was really nice. To make a complaint I'd have the manufacture one, we loved it and would do it again. Bruce

My son and I and our friends were there for a mountain bike race. Location was perfect and the owners communicated really well.

This is an awesome property in a great location! We loved our stay here! We had a couple of issues and David was very quick to respond! I would definitely recommend this place!

My husband and I, with kids aged 10 to 3 along with 1 set of grandparents stayed the week before Easter. Easy check-in with a code.
Very lovely town home, nicely decorated in a southwestern theme, updated kitchen with appliances, truly equipped for cooking and dining in. Loved the crockpot (we definately made some great chili in it). We also appreciated the Keurig with coffee cups and sugar provided, starter shampoo and conditioner; and being able to use a washer and drier, as we had to pack light to fit everyone.
Loved using the wood burning fireplace and supplied wood in the garage, kept the home very warm. The 2 twin beds in the loft were convenient and appealing to the kids as well as the board games .
We primarily booked bec of the perfect location, right on the mountain looking at Lift 1. We were able to ski back to the property via YBR trail, and our beginner skiers were able to get back on their own.
After a day of skiing the kids could play in the snow and sled right outside the property, and were in eyes view. Grandma could easily take walks down to the base and walk back up.
We had 1 SUV, with a large cargo box, and could not fit into the garage, however parked parallel without issues.
Ample towels.
We had to communicate with the owner and he responded immediately to our concerns.
We had a great time (due to location, weather and low density of people at the time), I love purgatory mt. and we would come back to this property in the future.

We had a wonderful one week stay. Location is perfect for skiing down for lunch and accommodating for those just learning as they made good use of the slope right outside the door with easy access to the lifts. Great communication from the owner too!!!

Experience the best Purgatory has to offer by being truly slope side!! Need lunch, a drink or just a break just ski to your place, rest and head back out. It is the best!!!

Fantastic setup and true ski in/ski out. Lots of thoughtful and functional details throughout made for a very comfortable stay! David was super quick to respond and resolve internet and cable issue following a power outage. We love Purgatory and had a great time!

Our family of 6 had a great 5 days in this house. This house is a true ski in ski out you litterally walk out the sliding door and take 10 steps and you are on the slopes. The house was also great, easy to get to and check in was simple with an email with door codes. The house had everything we needeed. Six of us stayed with plenty of room.

Great location and cozy accomodations
If you are looking for easy access to all Purgatory has to offer without the hustle and bustle, this is the perfect place! Conveniently located down from the crowds - the views of the mountain and aspens from the deck is peaceful and quiet!

This condo was in a perfect location nestled in the woods with a beautiful deck looking out onto the pines! My husband I and I were traveling with our 2 teenagers and we had room to spread out and gather together in the awesome great room. It was a short walk to the main lifts at Purgatory, where the kids spent hours on the alpine slide and mountain biking. David, the owner, couldn't have been nicer! He was always prompt with his responses and gave us lots of ideas to do when it rained. We loved every minute of our stay and plan to return next summer!

You couldnt ask for better in terms of location! This condo accommodated our family of 5 beautifully and David was an accommodating host who responded quickly to any questions or concerns we had. This was a perfect spring skiing escape! We would definitely stay here again.

Great place to take your family to escape! Summer or winter! I've done both now and we love it here.

PERFECT FOR FAMILIES
This place was amazing! The location is perfect, you are right off a green slope and a short downhill ski back to the lift. The property was super clean and well stocked with all the basics and a few extras. The host, David, was super helpful pre- trip with all my questions and offered great detailed advice. The wood burning stove was a treat to warm up by in the evenings with the board games. We will be returning to this rental as soon as possible!

This property is very comfortable. We stayed with our two children (age 17 and 20) and had a great time skiing. It was fun to have the dogs along. I wouldn’t call this property high-end luxury but it had everything we needed for a great stay. The towels were soft and absorbent, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was stocked with dishes and the host even supplies laundry soap/drier sheets (unfortunately for us, the drier wasn’t working during our stay). We would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic. Aside from a dryer issue which was unexpected, the property was great. The owner was very easy to talk to and accommodating. The place was clean, had everything we needed and location could not have been better. Truly ski in, ski out.

Purg condo
The location was ideal & David was great to work with. The townhome is definitely aging & in need of attention.
4.8
Purgatory was beautiful as it always is.
We loved the mountain as we always do. The condo not so much. It's probably one of the worst properties we have stayed in since we have been coming to Purgatory. The condo was not clean. Beds were not made and the clothes dryer did not work. All we had were bath towels, no washcloths or hand towels.

Smiling and Gliding
We felt the ice on the deck cold have been removed. Otherwise, great for skiing, accessibility, gatherings, pet friendly, sledding and sleeping. Thank you for your hospitality.

Fabulous weekend
We had a wonderful time here! Condo was exactly as pictured, great ski in-ski out location. Loved coming back after skiing and making a fire and watching football! I would definitely stay here again. David is very easy to work with and very accommodating.

David went about and beyond to make our Christmas trip special. There was a Christmas tree there with three sleds under it along with a nice greeting basket with some treats in it for us. We had an amazing time and the location was perfect for my family of seven ages 2 to 47. I was very pleased with our stay and experience.

First time to Purgatory and it was extremely convenient for skiing to Lift 1. That is, if everyone in the group can ski. We had 3 kids in ski school and one who was a first timer. Not a knock on the place, just something to be aware of. The condo was very kid friendly with plastic dishes, etc for kids and they even had sleds that we took out in the afternoons right on the ski runs. For this price I can’t imagine you can find a better value. One other potential negative is if you have heavy items you do have to take luggage up a tight stairway to enter the cabin. But it’s worth it because you have a nice car port stocked with tons of firewood!
