Nestled in an upscale hillside community, Casa Alta Vista has some of the finest ocean views in all of Costa Rica. From the deck of the villa’s extraordinary infinity pool, guests have ideal sightlines toward the Pacific Ocean below, including unabated views of the world famous Whale’s Tail in Uvita.
Since undergoing a major renovation in the summer of 2015, this incredible vacation villa is back and better than ever. Now featuring a pair of wrap-around decks on the second and third floors, five bedrooms all equipped with air-conditioning units, a crow’s nest on the top floor that can serve as a sixth bedroom, and all new appliances and furniture throughout the home, Casa Alta Vista has been transformed into an ideal vacation getaway for large groups of friends and family.
The infinity pool has everything you’ll need to get comfortable, including lounge chairs, umbrellas, coolers and pool toys. Even the outdoor pool shower has a magnificent view of the mighty Pacific below. All told, there may not be a better place to tan on the entire planet! Just beyond the pool sits a relaxing bodega, where guests can sip coffee while watching the morning toucans take flight, or mix cocktails during the afternoon sunset to the sound of howler monkeys in the trees.
The house itself has everything you’ll need for a modern, upscale vacation. There is wireless internet, television, state-of-the-art appliances including a dishwasher, microwave, stove, oven and a washer/dryer unit. Three of the five bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms and showers, while the other two bedrooms share a bathroom and shower. In addition, there is a fifth restroom downstairs near the laundry room.
Of all the new additions and upgrades, the wrap-around decks are really something spectacular. These decks have amazing jungle-to-sea-views, and are complete with multiple ceiling fans, chairs, tables and even a comfortable couch. Odds are you’ll be spending a lot of time relaxing on these decks while listening to the natural music of the surrounding jungle.
With the additional crow’s nest on the top floor, which has its own bed, Casa Alta Vista can easily accommodate a dozen guests.
The villa itself is located approximately 10 minutes off the coastal highway, directly in-between the towns of Dominical to the north and Uvita to the south. Reaching either town by car takes less than 20 minutes. Each place – Dominical and Uvita – feature restaurants, shopping, banks and grocery stores. Uvita also has a pair of pharmacies. There is also a very popular bar and restaurant on the mountain, Bar Jolly Roger, that serves quality food, cold beer and has live music. Bar Jolly Roger is a 3-minute drive from the villa, or a 10-minute walk.
Outdoor activities abound in this area of the country. While staying at Casa Alta Vista, you’ll be within a short drive of all kinds of great tours, including canopy zip lines, river rafting, surfing, paragliding, waterfall rappelling, ATV adventures, horseback rides, snorkeling, kayaking and much more.

Second stay in this house we all loved it!

We were a group of 8 adults and 3 young kids. We enjoyed the property very much. The pool was fantastic! There is 1 bed on main floor with queen bed and bathroom, ac included. Theres a seperate bathroom for guests in main floor. There are 4 bedrooms on 2nd floor, all with ac. 2 of them have bathrooms of their own and 2 of them share 1 bathroom. On the 3rd floor, there are 2 beds (twin and full), but no ac or bathroom on that floor. Kitchen was well stocked but a little small for our large group. Dryer had to be rebooted a few times by plugging and unplugging. Electricity went out once for 2hrs, at least that we noticed...that's really good, from my previous experiences in CR. Never had any issues with water, hot water was plentiful. Grounds and lawn were well maintained. Property manager waz very responsive and easy to get a hold of. I love this area of costa rica, been here many times now with my family. Drive up the hill to the property is definitely an adventure by itself. All i can say is...you'll get used to it in a day or two.

This rental was a little bit of heaven for our group. We were a group of two families ranging in ages from teenagers down to a six year old and it worked perfectly for us. From check in to check out, the property manager was more than helpful and everything ran smoothly. Hats off to Jonathan. The house was clean, stocked with everything we needed and the bedrooms were comfortable. There was more than ample seating everywhere so that indoors or outdoors, the magic of the location could be enjoyed either alone or with friends. The pool was cleaned and maintained regularly during our stay and was a highlight for everyone. They aren't joking when they say that you need 4-wheel drive for this location, especially if it rains. However, the trade off is more than worth it. If you are wondering if you can walk to the Bar Jolly Roger, the consensus from our group is no, but drive down for a burger. We loved this rental and would recommend it to anyone.

Spacious house with pool with amazing view. You definitely need 4x4 to get to the property, expect standard Cost Rica problems like temporary power outage and water outage in rainy season. The property manager Jonathan was very much in touch in responding and resolving any concerns or issues as they occured. He also kept checking on us from time to time. The dominical area is great for beaches, and jungle activities . We did paragliding with Dominical paragliding near the house and also did ATV ride near Uvita. We saw many birds Toucans, howling monkeys, laughing falcon ، bat falcon, and above all oropendola have nest nearby so they come every morning and evening.

Costa Rican Paradise!
Excellent choice for our group of 10. Everyone was more than satisfied overall. Just a few snags with plumming and random power outages but nothing we didn't expect. The VRBO listing needs to be updated with an additional photo of ALL the bedrooms. The amazing views and coziness made up for everything. YOUGETHERE staff was always on the ball for us. We very much enjoyed everything. Thanks!

It’s heavenly!
The views are amazing...we got to see so many types of birds and wildlife from the villa itself...the gardens around the villa are great....the villa from inside is highly functional...and a responsive team. Overall a great stay. Have recommended to keep extra paper towels in kitchen and consider upgrading the mattress in the master bed near the pool.

Breathtaking House and Grounds
Casa Alta Vista went beyond every expectation we had. The grounds were full of a variety of local flora and fauna. We were visited daily by monkey's, toucans, a sloth, and a wide variety of other birds. The house had more than enough room for three families, 4 adults and 5 kids age 14-18. The house was spectacular with its views, modern amenities, and overall layout. The drive up to the house is not for the faint of heart, especially when the sign says 4x4 required as you enter onto the road. The location was perfect for every activity we did, as everything was within a 1/2 hour. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone.

We had a great stay in March 2019 with a group of six. Make sure you have a 4x4 vehicle to get up the road to the house. We had two SUVs and one SUV turned out to be front wheel drive and we got stuck and had to park down the hill until the rental car company brought us another. Alonso was a great help that evening getting us to the house. We had groceries delivered by Stephen to the house just prior to our arrival which was very helpful. The house was very clean and the gardener, housecleaner and pool man all did a great job keeping it looking great.
Our first day was a relaxing day at the house and pool and we saw toucans, aracaris, an agouti and a white nose coati on the property. Each morning we got up early to hear the howler monkeys and the sounds of the birds and watch the sunrise. It was stunning. The covered hut was perfect to get out of the sun in the afternoon and was another great spot to watch the toucans. We enjoyed hiking to Nauyaca Waterfalls (upper and lower). It was a hot hike but got to see macaws, peacocks and Capuchin monkeys as well as another coati. We also had a private tour at Manuel Antonio National Park and saw a lot of sloths and other animals. We went zip lining with Osa Canapy tour with a beach stop at the Whale Tail at low tide in Uvita, which you can see from the pool at the house!
Several restaurants in Dominical area - Great dinner at Por Que No for sunset, Phat noodle was good food, a little slow service. Fuego Brew Co was good and a great dinner at La Palapa at Cuna del Angel for our last night. Make sure to have some lunches at a local "soda".
The house was great. We loved the porch on the second floor and the third floor with the hammock and another couch to nap and take in the view/look for animals was also perfect. We had two episodes of regional black outs, one for 2 hours in the middle of the night and the last evening from late evening until early morning. The house has battery powered lanterns which were handy. Just part of the experience.
The best treat on the last day of our trip was seeing a sloth in the tree by the pool enjoying eating buds on the tree and moving from branch to branch.
This was such a great trip and the house was perfect - great outdoor grilling area, thoughtful touches like pool floats/toys/beach towels. We would love to come back and we are sharing the listing with friends that saw our pictures. The view from the backyard was absolutely spectacular! Pura Vida!

Our family had an amazing time in such a amazing property! Pura Vida!
Our family spent the Holiday’s together and we could not of picked a more perfect location in Dominical. Casa Alta Vista was amazing and as nice as the pictures are on the site, the house is even better in person. You wake up in the morning and drink your coffee looking out over your infinity pool to the most amazing view of the Pacific Ocean and the whales tale in Uvita. The sounds of howler monkeys and toucans are in the trees all around you. We had 15 people and this house had no problem sleeping all of us. 3 levels with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. Also, the staff was always very quick to respond to any questions we had. Another perk, the house is less than a mile away from Bar Jolly Roger which has great food and a total Costa Rican feel. I would HIGHLY recommend this house and we can’t wait to go back and stay here. Pura Vida!!!

Modern Jungle Home with Tremendous Views
Our stay at Casa Alta Vista was awesome. The house was very clean when we arrived, and Stephen was very helpful during our check-in process. He told us about the local area, and gave us some good info on making the most out of our stay. The view was just incredible, and the house had so many outdoor spaces to enjoy it from. The view looks down on the "Whale's Tale" beach at Uvita. You could honestly just spend hours staring at it. We were lucky enough to catch a whale jumping out of the water as we ate breakfast outside on the first morning. We also saw monkeys, toucans, parrots, and an agouti on the property.
The location is pretty convenient to attractions as well. Dominical, Uvita, Nauyaca Falls, and more are all convenient to the area. Manuel Antonio and Jaco are a little further away, but we made day trips to those areas as well.
Be prepared for the drive up to the house. It requires 4-wheel drive, and can be a little scary at first, but it is safe, and you get totally used to it after a couple days. The house is in the Jungle on a mountain, so it's septic system doesn't allow for the flushing of toilet paper, you must throw it away. This wasn't nearly as big of a deal as it seemed at first, and is pretty standard in this area. There are also rolling brown outs in these areas of Costa Rica. This is also pretty standard, and we weren't really bothered by it. We weren't there to watch TV or anything like that.
This was our first stay in Costa Rica, and everyone had a blast. I would absolutely recommend Casa Alta Vista to anyone looking to stay in the Dominical area.

Breathtaking views, amazing wildlife, and so relaxing!
We had 2 families that shared this home! So much room, anything needed in kitchen, and private area to relax with family! We loved the cabana it was our favorite place even the children! Coffee watching sunrise in cabana was just serene!! Close to surround places, beaches, and many activities! We couldn’t have asked for a better visit and place to stay!! Can’t wait to come back!!

Awesome week in Dominical
Absolutely beautiful home. Views from the Pool breathtaking. Well laid out. Spacious bedrooms. About 10 minutes to beaches. Need 4x4 to get there. Good communication with rental company. Met us on time and good orientation of the house. All around 5 stars. Would definitely book again. C

What Can You Say But "Amazing"?
Wow, what an incredible place. There is a ton of room here for everyone to sleep comfortably, especially if you're traveling with couples or people who are OK sharing beds. We had 11 total and there were at least 3 open beds.
The place has an incredible view to the ocean, amazing sunsets, is immaculately clean and modern, and surrounded with jungle. There is a dishwasher and a washer/dryer to make things very convenient. Every morning you'll wake up to tons of toucans and beautiful birds - definitely bring a pair of binoculars or a spotting scope if you can. Howler monkeys are close by too, and you can hear them roaring each morning around 5am. We also saw a troop of white-faced capuchins coming through the trees, and also saw an agouti down the steps. When coming home one night, there was a large heard of peccaries in our driveway!
The pool is amazing, and if you want to scuba dive, they can come right to you to teach you before going to the ocean (check "Mad About Scuba" in Uvita for that). You absolutely do need a 4x4 to get to the property, it's no joke, but the drive is fun in its own right. The house is nestled between Dominical and Uvita, with a few grocery stores in Uvita and great places to eat in Dominical. Both areas have nice beaches, with Uvita home to the famous "Whale's Tail" which is a great place to go early in the morning to walk all the way out to the sandbar.
The home itself is stunning and the location is spectacular, with tons of great thinga to do. To make things even better, Stephen and his team (who manage the property) can help set up any tour you'd like or point you in the right direction of anything you need.
This place is paradise, we were totally blown away by how great it was. We even were told at checkout that if we book another stay it'll come with a 10% rebate. I cannot recommend this place enough - having traveled all over the world, this was easily the most amazing place I've rented.

Amazing stay
This was an amazing place to stay. There were 11 of us that stayed in the house, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house also has AC, which is great - it gets hot! The view is absolutely incredible; you could easily not leave the house and have an amazing time! Although this is obviously not recommended, as there is plenty to do in the area.
One more thing - 4-wheel drive is a must. Do not try to go without it. The highways are in great shape in Costa Rica. The same cannot be said for other side roads.
You will enjoy your stay; no question about it! This is the most beautiful scenery I have ever encountered.

Paradise
Just got back from a amazing trip staying in a absolutely stunning home. They should call this house the Toucan house due to all the toucans you see daily. The home was larger than expected and was very clean. The staff at Get you there were great and very attentive. If you want to see monkeys you need to get up at 5 am and walk down the path or road to the left. There is a fresh mango tree that supplies abundant mangos that were delicious. The view is also amazing from the house. We will definelty come back again.

Stunning House in an Amazing Spot on Earth
We just returned from a 5 night stay at Casa Las Terrazas in Costa Rica and it was one of the most incredible places we have ever been. We are world travellers and this house and place in the jungle topped our list of places we have been. 10 of us stayed in the house and we had 2 beds open because the house is so big. Every morning and night we had Toucans on the property and could hear monkeys everywhere. We felt very safe and secure in the house. The house is beautifully remodeled and appears brand new! The views of the jungle and ocean are unparalleled. It's a 10 minutes drive to the main highway and only 20 minutes max from many beaches and towns. This is THE house to stay in if you are looking for a private experience accessible to tons of awesome things to do. Can't say enough good things about this house and spot in the secluded but easily accessible place in the jungle. The management team that we dealt with from beginning to end was amazing. The check in and check out was so easy and everyone speaks perfect English. We had a person meet us in a nearby town and he escorted us to the property and gave us the keys and a full rundown of the house and nearby tours, stores restaurants, etc. Trip, house, and experience of a lifetime

Casa Alta Vista exceeded expectations
A total of nine of us descended on Casa Alta Vista for a week of warmth and fun in Costa Rica. Casa Alta Vista proved to be the ideal spot to regroup between snorkeling at Cano Island, swimming beneath Nuyuacca waterfall, visiting Manuel Antonio Park, boogie boarding at Playa Hermosa or any other number of delightful activities. I think another week is called for soon. :)
As first timers we weren't sure where to focus our attention but Joseu was an informative source of information and full of suggestions. He also arranged for Caleb and Jose to cook for us on our final evening which allowed us to enjoy each other's company and not worry about either cooking or cleaning up afterwards. We each had either red snapper or tenderloin - although they had many more options including the typical Costa Rican dish of Casados - rice, beans and either chicken, fish or beef. Having dinner prepared at La Casa was a great conclusion to our week and I recommend it.
Everyone woke early to the amazingly diverse bird life and monkey business in the trees. Catching sunrise over Ballena Park (The Whale's Tail) was a beautiful way to start the day. Then after a couple cups of coffee it was into the pool to consider what to do, knowing that staying put was a tremendous option, too. It was definitely Pura Vida at its best.

Casa Las Terrazas
My stay at Casa Las Terrazas was nothing short of amazing. Our group consisted of nine girls in our mid-twenties, and we all had an absolute blast. While we did schedule three day trips prior to our arrival, some of our best times were had on the property itself and down the hill at Bar Jolly Roger. Stephen and Neil helped us in scheduling our daily activities, and any small issues that we encountered throughout the week were immediately tended to. Casa Las Terrazas has all the amenities you'd need--a dishwasher, a washer and dryer, kitchen appliances, a grill, etc. This was a perfect location for a girls getaway, and I imagine just as perfect of a location for any group of any age range. Lastly, as the other reviews have stated, it is essential to rent a 4x4 vehicle to reach the drive--but don't let that scare you off. We were a bit nervous for that portion of the travel, but it all worked out smoothly. Can't wait to come back!

Casa Las Terrazas
Amazing and exceeded expectations. 2 Adults and 5 kids (ages 1 to 11) stayed 5 nights. The kids enjoyed the flora and fauna that is so abundant throughout the property - we saw toucans throughout the day, hummingbirds in the mornings, and we could hear the howler monkeys nearby (didn't see them though). The views of the Whales Tail were spectacular while relaxing in the pool, and the sunset from the second and third decks were simply stunning. Lots to do nearby, including the Bar Jolly Rogers, Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary, street market in Dominical, the Marino Ballena National Park (Whales Tale), and several quiet beaches. Accommodations were first class and has everything you need to cook and grill and simply relax in the Pura Vida lifestyle. Only drawback may be the lack of A/C in the family room and kitchen (A/C in bedrooms only) and the need for 4-wheel drive vehicle as the unpaved road to the house is very bumpy and steep - but his is CR and you need 4-wheel drive to access just about everything off the main roads. In the end, our kids loved the pool, the beaches and the adventures located only a short drive from the house. We will be back!

Casa Las Terrazas
Casa Las Terrazas is amazing. From hanging out in the pool with the amazing view, laying in the hammock in the gazebo, and even experiencing some wildlife the entire experience was so refreshing and relaxing. We enjoyed every thing about the house it has all the amenities for a very comfortable stay.

Burton's 40th Celebration
We wanted to spend time with our best friend on his 40th birthday celebration so we decided a trip to Costa Rica was in order. When looking for accommodations, we wanted something that could provide us with great views, comfortable living, and proximity to some of the best that the country has to offer. Casa Las Terrazas was able to provide those requirements and more. The house is situated on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Costa Ballena (the Whale's Tail) and the views are amazing. Recent renovations provided plush accommodations and everyone felt completely comfortable in our time at the house. The jungle came right up to the property and provided for lush flora and fauna. Bugs were manageable, the internet was non-existent (don't expect to plug-in while at the house), the road to the house was one of the best we have seen on a property like this, the Jolly Roger was a fun escape. Overall we had an amazing time and would recommend the house to anyone that is potentially heading down to Domincal/Uvita area of CR. Pura Vida!

Gorgeous place
Just fabulous. Loads of wildlife. We had two types of toucans flying through the trees at dusk every day, loads of colourful birds ( none of which I know the names of!), howler monkeys howling, and an amazing view of the 'Whale's Tail' . Lots to do a short drive away - deserted beaches, jungle walks, good restaurants. The house was comfortable and well-cared for.

Casa Las Terrazas
We stayed at casa las terrazas in January 2016, and the place is unbelievable! The house is completely remodeled, with great views of the ocean, whale's tail and sunset from all rooms of the house. There are multiple decks with fans to take a break from the sun and keep cool while still enjoying the beautiful views, and sounds of monkeys, toucans and other wildlife in the area. We had 6 people stay in the house during our stay, but could have comfortably fit 6 more. The bedrooms are large, and multiple rooms have access to one of the decks. You won't want to leave the gorgeous infinity pool! But when you do there are many places to relax outside. Neil and Stephen were helpful at giving us tips for the stay, as well as provide an informational book with local restaurants, activities and grocery stops. They were also easily available for questions or concerns throughout the week. The kitchen has all the necessary appliances, (plus some), to do cooking at the house if you desire. The drive up to the house definitely requires AWD, but is a fun drive and quite scenic during the day. The drive from the house to Uvita or Dominical is about 10-15min, making it easy to stop in either city for exploring or a beach day. I would highly recommend this property for your stay in Costa Rica!
