About this house rental
Gualala Point is part of the Sonoma Beach Park System. It overlooks the Gualala River and the Pacific Ocean. When we purchased our beach house in 2013, we were in awe of the extended views of the river and ocean. These views, which are the same as the park are the original thoughts of why we named our home Gualala Point.
The town of Gualala itself is very similar to the way Santa Barbara was, back in the late 50's and early 60's. It is a quiet little beach town with a couple of gas stations, a half dozen restaurants, 2 markets, a bank and other local businesses. This is what attracted us to the town itself and the people who live in town are friendly and yet outgoing. Gualala is aprx 125 miles north of San Francisco and 50 miles north of Bodega Bay, just across the Mendocino County line. Mendocino and Fort Bragg are 60 miles further north. Inland lies a series of small towns and numerous wineries.
But the real attraction of this house is the quiet and relaxation it offers. From the upper deck, you see the views to the southwest of the Gualala River. To the immediate west, the Pacific Ocean, seen thru the kitchen and living room windows. Our kitchen is fully stocked with utensils needed to prepare a fine family meal. Total relaxation of using the barbecue on the upper deck and sitting back in a lounge chair breathing in the ocean air, is a feeling that has to be experienced to be able to describe. Whale watching, Eagles soaring and deer are common sights. Gualala offers many forms of recreation such as kayak rentals, golfing at nearby Sea Ranch, shopping in town, a gourmet market for food and drink, hiking in the state park and more. Town is within walking distance and there is a gourmet pizza place called Upper Crust that will not disappoint pizza lovers.
The house itself offers ample space which can easily sleep 8 people. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs and a downstairs game room, where an 1875 Brunswick Majestic pool table resides. This room has a tv/cable along with a sound system. The walls are lined with original movie posters, rock posters and surfing items from the 50's and 60's. There is an outdoor patio that directly connects to the game room, which offers ocean and river views.
The living room, which in my eyes feels like a ski chalet with large glass windows and vaulted ceilings offers an openness to the infinite ocean and river views. Hardwood floors lead you to a 55" TV along with glasses and movies. There are aprx 200 dvd movies to choose from, blu ray, hd and regular dvds. The main bedroom is large and airy. It also has a dvd player and cable. There is a small desk for people to use their computers and a printer is available. The house has wi-fi and internet, of course. All of the bedrooms are color themed . All have their own TV's with either a dvd player or cable. There are 2 bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a bathtub.
Heading downstairs for a game of pool, you can experience what the cowboys in the old west did, over 100 years ago. The precision of this pool table, which originally belonged to a member of the Al Capone gang, was found in a Chicago warehouse. It was shipped to California and reassembled at Gualala Point.
For those who enjoy local surroundings, 3 miles to the north is Anchor Bay. There is a campground there that houses one of the most beautiful beaches in California, a favorite destination with many of the locals. Cooks beach offers a very pretty and private beach experience, as well.
Continuing to travel another 10 miles north, you will find the quaint town of Point Arena. PA offers good surf by the pier. The Stornetta Land Reserve and Lighthouse are a sight to behold. Point Arena has a number of restaurants and a very modern movie theater, set into an older building. Besides movies, live plays and music are also events that the theater offers. Lighthouse tours are available
For other outdoor activities, the Gualala/Point Arena areas offer surfing, kayaking, boating, diving, fishing, hiking and walking trails, bike riding, various beaches and state parks. This part of Northern California is still wide open and looks and feels like small town California. Anchor Bay offers a Thai Food restaurant and a beautiful private beach. Cooks Beach in Gualala is also a quiet cove with a beautiful beach. Point Arena offers the Pier for food and xlnt surf. Breaks left and right. Stornella reserve and Point Arena lighthouse are two items of beauty. Point Arena is 13 miles north of Gualala.

Ray has hosted friends of ours twice (we own a house in sea ranch) and has always been a thoughtful, communicative, and conscientious host. We really love this house -- it's location and it's host. Definitely stay here if you want something that's a bit less expensive and easier to get to town! Big fans.

Great home on a large lot with amazing views
I think I can just say that this house was perfect for what we needed. Bonus for the pool table which we loved as competitive players! What really sets this place aside though is Ray, the owner. I almost feel like a part of Ray's family now. He called to check in on us during our long stay to make sure everything was going to plan. When we had a minor plumbing issue, he was on top of getting it fixed. I can't say enough about his hospitality and making his home feel like our own. Thanks again Ray! We will come back soon!

New Year's in Gualala
Big house with stunning views for sunrise and sunset. Accommodated our group with 3 bedrooms and a futon downstairs. All the kitchen equipememnt needed for our holiday meals. Short walk to Trinks for coffee or breakfast. Don't miss the bookstore in town. Perfect relaxed setting for time away from the big city. Walked on the beach, bluffs and the redwoods for wonderful visit.

Awesome coastal property!
This was our 2nd time at Ray's place and we just love it! It works well for my group of single people as there are plenty of sleeping spaces and good parking for multiple cars. The views on a sunny day are magnificent! The Master suite is light and bright with ocean view. We love having a cocktail on the deck! We will come again...

Gualala ocean views
This is a great, roomy house with amazing views of the ocean and the river. There is great hiking close by at the Gualala Bluff Trail, and a cool light house up the highway just past Point Arena. Grocery stores that are well stocked are literally minutes away. The downstairs has a really nice pool table and is a great place to gather and shoot some stick!

Great property with everything we needed to prepare our group's meals including the gas Bbq. Very clean with large living space and plenty of seating that looks out at the river, ocean and the local family of deer. Three bedrooms were comfortable each with TVs and lots of DVDS. We didn't even turn them since we were having such a good time. We walked to the Surf market for supplies and Trinks for morning cappuccinos. We were on the patio enjoying the view when we spyed an engle down by the river. The pool table got a workout. Huge washer and dryer. Clear communication with owner. No problems.

We stayed here in early January 2019. The views of the ocean from inside the house and the decks are phenomenal and every bit as beautiful as the written description. Our party of 6 (including 2 children) were very comfortable in this well equipped house. Our host, Ray, was a great communicator, and immediately responsive to any inquiry..

Fantastic Retreat!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our special 3-day weekend. It was a real treat to see families of deer roaming the countryside, as well as amazing ocean views, coupled with the lullaby sounds of waves in the background. Playing pool downstairs was an added bonus feature of this home.
All in all, we now have new family memories to cherish!!

Great home in a beautiful location.
My family stayed here over Christmas and it was a very memorable holiday. We were all very comfortable and could not get enough of the view! We made a point to get up early to see the incredible sunrises and bundled up to watch the sunset from the deck. The kitchen is well stocked enabling us to have a successful Christmas dinner. We even put a little Christmas tree up in the living room with the Ocean as its backdrop. We spent many hours downstairs playing pool which was a blast! Every day we ventured out to local beaches and parks for hikes and even made it up to Fort Bragg for a day. Thank you for sharing your home with us. It created a holiday we won't soon forget!

"The Perfect Vacation Rental in Gualala" is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the Gualala area.
My husband and I rented this home with two other couples for a weekend. The description of the rental is very accurate, it's clean and included everything we could have hoped for. The owner Ray was extremely responsive to my questions and even called the home after we arrived to be sure everything was as we had hoped. The other couples had never been to this part of the coast so this home was the perfect base for exploring the area. We enjoyed walking on the beach at Anchor Bay, visiting Point Arena and the men fished at Stornetta Lands. However we most enjoyed sitting on the deck with cocktails and enjoying a warm fall weekend that included seeing many pods of whales making their way south and families of deer munching on the lawn below. We also enjoyed shooting pool on the beautiful table and reading the movie posters.
We will be back and recommend this rental for anyone interested in enjoying the coast surrounding Gualala.
