A WILDERNESS RETREAT is located in Franklin North Carolina. Franklin is in Western North Carolina surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest.
Franklin is well known for it’s gem mining and it’s natural beauty of it’s surrounding misty mountains. Well located, Franklin is right over Georgia’s state line and about an hour’s drive from Tennessee. There are numerous trails and natural attractions in Western North Carolina.
We have recently updated our cottage. We have painted and refreshed through out, with new bathrooms, the kitchen has new quartz countertop and stainless steel appliances. The basement bedroom has been redone and we have added a/c splits, all to help make your stay as relaxing and comfortable as possible.
Our town has plenty to keep you busy. There are various festivals and special events, along with local activities throughout the year. Additionally, there are numerous surrounding towns with their own style and charm. If you just want to relax, sit on our porch watch our beautiful sunsets, enjoy our fire pit, hear the rustle of the leaves, and admire the view and the sweet fresh mountain air.

The cottage was clean . Lots of space to sit on the deck and plenty of room for the family . We stayed for 7 nights . Kitchen has newer appliances and amenities. Lots of bathrooms as well. They do use air fresheners in the cottage . So if you are sensitive to that you should let them know . Overall we really enjoyed our stay and all our needs were met

Third time staying and it is just perfect!!

We had a wonderful stay. We spent hours, almost every night, sitting on the deck watching lightning bugs and listening to crickets, frogs, and an occasional elk. It was just what I needed to unwind and relax. The cottage itself is roomy and beautifully furnished. We were especially impressed with the kitchen, with all the appliances, utensils, and dishes one might need to feed a large group. Our host Susana was very friendly, helpful, and responsive to any questions we had before and during our stay. I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in the area!

Wonderful stay. House was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. We cook in a lot on vacation and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. We would definitely come again.

We were very happy with our stay here. The owner was very communicative and check-in was a breeze. The cabin lists three bedrooms but we found that the den could also be used as a fourth and be shut away with the downstairs bathroom for someone that wanted more privacy. The cabin is also very close to town, which has a Walmart and a variety of good restaurants. The cabin was clean and stocked with the all of the basics. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would definitely book this cabin again.

Once again we enjoyed our stay! It has been a good central location for visiting the Biltmore, Gatlinburg, Maggie Valley. It’s close (within 5 miles) to our favorite places to eat: Kountry Kitchen, Lucios Italian restaurant and Haywood’s Barbeque. The house itself was clean and the upstairs fireplace does a great job, as it was cold when we were there. If you have an issue with stairs, it is not for you. The view from the porch is very nice and we saw deer walking along the side of the house one afternoon. The road leading to the house is narrow, but certainly doable (we’re from Florida). You won’t be disappointed.

Susan, the owner was very accommodating. When hurricane Ian delayed our arrival she extended our date of departure.

The home a bit outdated..the musty smell was a bit overwhelming,... had to burn candles everyday.., The kitchen could use more kitchen supplies. electric can opener,Strainer/ colinder. maybe a hairdryer also... neighborhoods were wonderful! We did enjoy our stay though...

This was our first time using a VRBO and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The property and home were beautiful, clean and well-stocked. Close enough to town and surrounding areas for day trips with the return “home” welcoming. Numerous restaurants within a 5 mile radius with the Kountry Kitchen, Haywood Barbecue and Lucio’s Italian being our favorite breakfast and dinner locations. We did day trips everyday and missed out on eating at The Gazebo Creekside Cafe. We definitely plan to return to this property soon!

The property was as described. A beautiful drive up the hill to the house nestled in between large trees. It felt like you were in a tree house. The deck was large and had wonderful seating areas to enjoy the view of the mountains. It can sleep 3 couples easily and the fireplace in the living room kept us nice and toasty. The kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfortable and everything worked well. Highly recommend this place.

We thought the overall experience was good, but with a couple of suggestions…the house needs central air, at least upstairs. The downstairs could use the window unit. The dehumidifier is noisy and doesn’t do a good job. Also, the fire pit was out of gas.

Had a lovely stay here, the area is nice and quiet with a beautiful view. The cottage was very comfortable and had plenty of room for our group of five.

Thank you for providing a great place to get out of the Florida heat. It was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The great deck and outdoor furniture made mornings and evenings very relaxing and just what we needed. Also the garage and carport made parking a big plus for the two cars. We made lots of day drips and enjoyed the local gem mines, easy access to Franklin, Cherokee and Bryson City. Thanks again and may God bless you. Wayne

Wilderness retreat is a wonderful place to get away from the big city life. Just minutes away from restaurants, downtown, grocery store and Walmart. Our family enjoyed our time at the rental and out and about aroundo Franklin. A nice drive to Dillsboro for some fantastic BBQ at Haywood’s. A must go to place
