This was our second year at this location and it could not have been better. The area is saturated with beauty. We hiked, kayaked, and had a wonderful time with family. We look forward to returning next year.

Beautiful cabin in the woods. Jen is very responsive and helpful. We’ve stayed there several times and we keep going back! I hate to give it a glowing review because that will make it more popular and harder to book! Thanks Jen and Donna for your beautiful cabin.

Beautiful cabin located on a very quiet and peaceful set of ponds. Plenty to do at the lakes, kayaking, fishing, swimming, hiking and more. The whole process was so smooth and easy. The host was great to work with and responded almost immediately to any question I had. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway to enjoy the outdoors.

This is our third year. We love the cabin and location. We feel at home. Very peaceful and a great getaway in nature. Our last morning we were blessed by a visit of a mother deer and two babies. Can't wait for next year. Carl

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. I was scheduled for surgery right after vacation, so the serenity of the place was perfect! It was clean and beautiful inside and out. The only thing I would complain about was the height of the bed! I'm 4'10"!! lol
Thanks for a great time!

This cabin was a very relaxing time for my family. We needed to just unwind and it was a quiet retreat for us. The cabin was very clean and beautiful. The sun room (porch) was my favorite place to sit and enjoy morning coffee. Thank you for a wonderful week!

Well equipped and decorated. Friendly, helpful hosts who were easy to reach and responsive to our needs/questions. We have rented many cabins (and owned one) and this is one of the best. We visit family in ME and NH regularly and it is nice to have the waterfront area for activities for all ages. We hope to return on future visits!

This is our second time staying at Bret and Donna’s cabin. It is hands down the best vacation rental we have stayed in. We ran into a slight, unavoidable maintenance issue this time around, and Bret was immediately on it and got it fixed right away, frequently checking in and making sure we were comfortable. The location is quiet and peaceful, and the cabin itself is clean and well-maintained. Our only regret was that we were so busy visiting friends and family that we didn’t get to enjoy more time in the cabin itself!

This was our 2nd year of renting a cabin in the Shapleigh area, and it was, by far, the best experience. If you love knotty pine, you’ll love this place. The cabin, parking and access were all great. The owner was very informative and helpful. Thanks.

The perfect place for us to relax as well as visiting friends and family who are in the area. This is our second visit. The cabin is welcoming, clean and well equipped.
Brett is very accommodating and always available for questions and suggestions for activities in the area. Needless to say, we will be back again.

My husband and I, along with our 17 yr old twins had a fabulous time in Bret's Maine log cabin. We had been a little worried that our teens might get bored, but no such problem. We enjoyed hanging out in the homey cabin, reading, playing games and having cookouts. We also loved the peaceful pine forest setting, hiking paths, kayaking and swimming off the dock. A pure dream vacation! Beautiful memories made that will last a life time!

Enjoyed our stay.
We chose this cabin due to proximity to friends and family in the area. The reviews were accurate and our stay was very pleasant.
The cabin has everything we needed for the 2 weeks we were there. The owner, Bret was always a text away and responded to questions and suggestions very quickly. A very pretty and quiet area. We enjoyed our stay.

Piece of Home
From the moment we pulled up to the cabin, we knew we picked the right place. The inside, from top to bottom was charming and comfortable for the three of us. It was so nice waking up and having coffee and a good book out in the sunroom. With the kayaks, we were able to take our grandson out on the pond for his first time. We'll definitely return on another trip.

Great, Clean Cabin!
We had a great time at Kettle Pond. With family a short distance away we needed a home base to sleep, naps for the kids, and down time. The cabin was great -- very clean and outfitted with everything we needed. We'll be back!

Awesome Trip to Maine
This was our first trip to Maine and it didn't disappoint. The cabin and location were outstanding and Bret and Donna are wonderful hosts. The cabin had everything we needed for a great vacation. They checked in with us often to make sure we had everything we needed and to offer recommendations on places to see. We enjoyed swimming and kayaking on Kettle Pond and hanging out at the cabin. The location was great and we made several day trips around the area. We visited Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Ferry Beach, Douglas Mountain and even squeezed in a trip to Boston. Our two teens said it was the best vacation ever and I would agree.

A peaceful spot in the pines
This cabin suited our needs perfectly. The trails and the ponds are beautiful; the owners, Brett and Donna, were very friendly and helpful. The pollen from the pine trees was pretty bad--our stay was from late May to late June--so those with allergies may want to take precautions and bring plenty of tissues. The kayaks are an added bonus and we thoroughly enjoyed them.

Perfect getaway
This rental is in a fantastic location at the end of a quiet road. There were no cars driving by, only two other cabins, and a view of a pond and the woods. Cute as a button inside and out! It was absolutely perfect for me.

There were some inconsistencies between the listing and the property owners' expectations as far as the condition we needed to leave the cabin in upon checking out. We were asked by the owner to wash our own towels and sheets. For the price I feel that all cleaning should have been covered by the owners, especially considering that we were responsible and did not leave the place a mess. We also found out upon arrival that we were responsible to take our own trash and recycling to a waste center. It would have been nice to see that in the listing instead of assuming it'd be provided. It was doubly inconvenient in that the waste center was not open on our departure day and we were supposed to be quarantining and not technically allowed to leave the cabin grounds. The owner let us leave our last day's trash but I felt that the expectations could have been clearer as many of the other listings we viewed were. Advice to the owners, please update the listing to reflect exactly what you require your renters to be responsible including some cleaning and trash. Also, advice to future renters, be advised nearly every dish in the kitchen was filthy and we spent the first 3 hours hand washing and drying. Cups in the cupboard lined with sticky orange juice, pans greasy and stuck on food. I expect that isn't a reflection on the owners but rather the previous renter. Also the bathroom floor was sticky and brown, like faint dried on mud or something, so I washed that upon arrival. This is my first time renting a privately owned cabin so maybe it is normal to find it dirty and to find actual expectations varying from the online listed ones. Just pointing it out in case anyone cares to know.Overall we had a great time and are already considering going back next year, and we recommend this cabin and the area to others.

Very pleasant experience
The cabin has WiFi, Dish tv and air conditioning (which I did not expect). Just no microwave, but plenty of cookware and a teapot. I had a great time!

Great Location
Myself and 3 friends thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Check in was easy and the host was always available for questions or suggestions. Our group loved the walking paths, the fishing, and the lakes to explore in kayaks. The cabin is about 40 minutes from Wells beach, so we also enjoyed going to the beach!

Great Cabin in Maine
This cabin is wonderful - it is nicely decorated and had everything to make our visit great. The bed was comfortable, the cabin was spotless, and it was the best lake house we have ever rented. Our grandkids enjoyed swimming in the lake, and the kayaks were a lot of fun for them.
Bret was very attentive and concerned that we had everything we needed, including supplying us with eggs and English muffins when we arrived late Friday night. We couldn't have asked for better hosts. All in all it is a great cabin in a beautiful spot. Thanks Bret!
