About this cabin rental
Escape to a Blue Lake Lodge, a spacious cabin with a guesthouse that sets on 10+ secluded acres next to the Lincoln National Forest. Don’t forget your pets, because they are welcome too! Blue Lake Lodge is on the northeast side of Ruidoso, close enough to town for easy access, but far enough away that your vacation getaway seems truly private. Best of all, you have breathtaking views of Sierra Blanca Peak.
Blue Lake Lodge is a seven-bedroom, six-bathroom, air-conditioned dream cabin that can sleep 18 comfortably. It’s perfect for a family reunion in the mountains. Whatever time of year you visit, we encourage you to come in a high profile, four-wheel-drive vehicle. The last half-mile of Forest Road 120A is gravel with a steep pitch leading to the cabin. Once you arrive at Blue Lake Lodge, you’ll find plenty of parking for your group out front.
When you walk inside Blue Lake Lodge, the beauty of the home’s interior will amaze you. Vaulted and beamed ceilings are complemented by a stone fireplace and log walls. You’ll want to toss your bags down and settle into the comfortable couch and loveseat. The Southwestern décor is so cozy and through your large windows and glass doors, you have a view of the deck and forest beyond. Blue Lake Lodge has a flat-screen TV with cable and a DVD player in the living room. Gather your group to watch a favorite movie. There’s also free Wi-Fi within the home that makes it so convenient to send photos to friends.
You’ll spend many a pleasant hour enjoying the sights, sounds, and pine scent of the mountains from your expansive deck. Even better, walk about 50 feet out into the front yard to find a private hot tub with a large overlook deck where you have spectacular forest and mountain views. It feels so great to let the soothing waters loosen tight muscles as you breathe in the crisp mountain air. This is living!
One thing you’ll notice in the mountains: you and your guests will have hearty appetites. Whether it’s

The cabins were very roomy and we had plenty of room for all of us to be there! Beautiful view!

The house is beautiful and the views are amazing. That is the saving grace for the home. The rental did not feel worth the amount of money we paid to stay here. We paid almost 4K to stay for 4 days and felt ripped off. The couch is absolutely disgusting, please clean it or get a new couch. The sheets are itchy and rough, pillows are flat and old. I don’t think anyone in the family slept well one night. I think the boxes for the TV’s were extremely old, like 20yrs old. No wonder the Tv in the master was stuck on one channel. Overall we just felt disappointed by the amount of money we paid for what we received. Again, it’s a beautiful property and great for big families, but details matter. When you pay that much money, sheets should be clean/high quality, pillows should be decent, and you should be able to sit on the furniture without feeling dirty afterwards. We would stay here again if updates and improvements were made.

One of the most impressive things about this property where the views. My family and I watch the sunset every night we were there. We also loved the hot tub and Lookout point. Having the two separate houses worked out well. My older children enjoyed being able to use it to get away from the younger kids. We had several couples on this trip and had plenty of room. We really enjoyed having the multiple levels with separate kitchens. I was very pleased with the property and would recommend it to friends and family.

Very nice and spacious cabin with super views of the Sierra Blanca mountains. Very peaceful with lots of room to roam and explore. The only drawback is the road up to the cabin was a little treacherous. But worth the drive up!

Beautiful place!
The house was beautiful, pictures don’t do it justice! Plenty of towels were provided and the living and dining area was a perfect set up to keep a big group together for games and entertainment. The location was nice and secluded however the drive up the road was very bumpy with a lot of huge rocks to be careful of. You need a tall vehicle to get there without fear of car damage.

Cabin was great for our group: 4 parents and 12 kids of various ages. The kitchen was perfect for cooking all our meals. I do recommended they add a Keurig coffee maker. The road is rough but our vans got up just fine. Great layout for a big group.

We enjoyed our stayed, the only thing is that the pictures showed one room with two bunk beds, which ended up being just a queen bed.
The road to the house during the winter is rough. You do need 4x4 or chains. Will return for sure.

Spacious
Spacious and comfortable as can be.
The few issues I ran across were :
I was not given an access code to the conjoined cabin so I was unable to access it until about five hours after check in.
There was no propane for the grill
There was no deck furniture for the outside deck so we could not use it.
Getting a hold of someone through both the phone line and emergency line was not possible. The maintenance man eventually called us back to resolve the key pad issue.
Other than these minor issues cabin was beautiful and equiped with everything a family can need.

We enjoyed ourselves place was plenty big enough. My only suggestion would be letting us know about dirt rocky road to get to house. We figured it out had good family get away

This home is beautiful with fantastic views! The road to get to the remote cabin is rocky- but that reduces the amount of traffic. We will definitely plan on staying here again!

Very nice and comfortable with an amazing view.

The location was great! Away from traffic, and high in the mountain. The road up was kind of scary the first time going up which isn’t explained in any of the descriptions, I could only imagine how it is during the snow. Two rooms were located in a guest house, which was kind of a setback considering we wanted “family time” and needed to decide who would have to sleep in the separate house. The guest house also had the room with the bunk beds, so if traveling with kids take into consideration that the bunk bed room isn’t in the main home.
Other than that, the cleanliness the space and THAT VIEW! was great. I would def recommend, and def visit again just without counting on two rooms in a separate cabin.

I based our stay on the photos provided. The cabin looked nothing like the photos
Cabin looks nothing like photos provided. Home is nice but older. We based our decision on the photos provided and the cabin was no where near what we expected. The hot tub is a walk from the cabin which makes it not as enjoyable. I emailed the property manager a few time prior to arrival and couldn't get a response. Overall it was an OK stay but not what we had pictured by any means.

Family & Friends Getaway!
This was our 2nd time at this beautiful property! We all enjoyed our own rooms with bathrooms, and all the room of the 2 full living areas. WOW! We were able to ride our motorcycles right out of the properties driveway and ride for hours in the Lincoln National Forest. Meals are a breeze with the huge kitchen and outdoor grill. Lots of deck room and of course the amazing hot tub and its views we spectacular! We will return again!

Thanksgiving 2019
Our family vacation to Ruidoso for Thanksgiving was so enjoyable because of this property. All of the family was comfortable and happy with having their own bedrooms and bathrooms. The layout is a lot of fun for the kids to run around and explore. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a perfect Thanksgiving dinner along with seating for everyone. The fireplace got tons of use as well. The road up was a bit bumpy but nothing we weren’t prepared for or couldn’t handle with our trucks. We pulled a trailer loaded with four wheelers up it no problem! It was a blast exploring the Lincoln National Forest that backs up to the property. The kids really enjoyed seeing all of the wildlife while out riding and from looking out the many windows inside the home. Can definitely see us returning for another stay. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing home with us for this special holiday trip.

Nice place. Comfortable.
The road was rough to get there. The place should have more t. v s and a bigger one in the family room.

Mountain house
We liked staying here. It was great to see the animals every morning. But the house could have been deep cleaned better. There was still crumbs on the kitchen counters and the smell of food. I guess from the previous renter. There was still food on the kitchen floors that were not swept up. If a cleaning company is used then I would suggest finding someone else!
The outside patio needed some furniture. It would have been nice to be outside to eat and have coffee.
The road up to the house was crazy! They need to try to fix it better. We were in a truck and it was still pretty bad.
4.3
Lots of space, pretty view, well stocked kitchen......but there were issues.
This a nice property that needs some help. There is plenty of space in a secluded location which works well for large family gatherings. Access to the National Forest by foot and vehicle is also a plus,
There is a total lack of window treatment that allows the afternoon and morning sun to be very intrusive. There were no functional icemakers so every trip up and down the hill on a pretty rough road required ice hauling......something most of us quit doing when we were in college. The few TV's there are small. Seems like an easy cheap fix in these current markets. The main outside deck is in need of repair and refinishing .
The kitchen was very well stocked with cooking implements.

Needs work
A/C needs to be addressed, upstairs adequate, downstairs not working. Guest house not working either. Road to house needs to be improved. West side of house needs blinds and curtains. ??DUMPSTERS??
4.3
Would stay again.
Pros : BEAUTIFUL view, very nice cabin, spacious. Quickly resolved problems.
Cons : HORRIBLE drive up, needs curtains or shades, needs closer dumpsters, Jacuzzi is a walk away from cabin in its own secluded area,
4.3
Great view relaxing and family time well spent
Highly recommended!!! Private and has great views

Cool Place
The property is way nicer than the pictures show! The property makes you feel kike you are on your own ranch, but only a few miles from the town. I see how a 4x4 would be needed, but only in snow. You have miles of forest road and other trails to ride golf carts, UTVs and trucks on. Property needs typical love in little areas, but that is typical of any rental. Would defiantly stay here again.

We loved having this great big home for our family. We all had our own bedroom and bathroom and our kids (ages 10-19) loved having their own space in the guest cabin. The only recommendations I would give is- fix the air conditioning in the guest cabin. Also, the little things go a long way and don't cost the homeowner much. For example: More dishes and glasses, spices, cooking oils, coffee, shampoos, conditioners, shaving cream, razors etc. We have stayed in many VRBO's and some of our favorites have been the ones that offer the simple items but they go very far and are very much noticed. We had a house in Florida that offered an Italian "kuerig" with a huge selection of coffee and travel pack loaded with all the bathroom essentials- again very simple and inexpensive, but very much appreciated.
