About this house rental
Leave your cares behind and enjoy the beautiful Catskill mountains as you relax in your “Stream side Sanctuary,” a beautifully renovated 2 bedroom house just outside of Phoenicia, located on the lovely Stony Clove Stream.
The view from the property is wonderful year round, with the autumn colors being especially spectacular. We have a terrific fire pit available April through November. It's fueled by propane-no wood necessary-and has a beautiful flame (see Photos) We also have a stream side bluestone patio and shade garden.
The house has a beautiful, fully equipped kitchen, spacious dining room that looks out at trees and flowers from a bow window, living room with gas fireplace and large screen TV, modern bathroom, two bedrooms, each with a queen size bed, one with a TV, air conditioning and heat throughout making it a cozy, comfortable retreat year round! The house has cable TV and wifi. A car is not necessary as the house is located just short of a mile form the bus station in Phoenicia. You can walk to town, eat in one of several restaurants, visit the quaint shops, go fly fishing, or tube the Esopus. If you’re feeling energetic, a walk of a little over a mile will bring you to the Tanbark Trail and/or the trail up Tremper Mountain, both very popular spots, or walk about 2 miles to the Phoenicia Diner for a hearty breakfast or lunch. If you do come by car, there are many sites and activities just a short drive away: Lakes, hiking trails, ski centers, concerts, shops, and /or other nearby towns to explore. Our property is beautiful in winter and we are close to several ski centers. We also have snowshoes for our guests to use. If you're not an outdoor person, winter is a great time to relax in front of our cozy fireplace. Come and enjoy “your vacation home” without any of the work or responsibility!
My husband and I have a home on the property. If we are not traveling, we like to greet our guests, give a quick tour of the house, and answer any questions. Whether we are home or away we can always be reached but, we give our guests as much privacy as possible so that they can comfortably enjoy all of the property.

If you’re looking for a clean, updated, and comfortable place to stay while surrounded by breathtaking beauty, look no further. The sights and sounds of the creek in the back yard and views of mountains on all sides were exactly what we needed. Had a close encounter with a bald eagle while stepping across the rocks in the creek. Lots of hikes and yummy restaurants in the neighborhood too. The owner was friendly and helpful, making our stay a perfect weekend escape!

My family and I had a wonderful time at the Sanctuary. The house was clean, cozy, and well stocked for a family, the views were amazing, and our little ones had a magical time. We are definitely planning on coming back in the summer for swims in the creek!

Veronica, has the house completely set up with everything you need. The property was perfect. The stream was our go to first thing in the morning along with a big fire pit. The setti g os definitely my type of sanctuary. I highly recommend stay here. It will rejuvenate your soul..

The beautiful house exceeded our expectations, and being surrounded by nature and the stream was precisely the rejuvenating weekend we needed!
Veronica struck the perfect balance of being available to answer questions, but also respecting our privacy during our stay.

Lovely house. We enjoyed the backyard with a beautiful stream, view and plenty of seating. The house came fully stocked for cooking. Veronica was welcoming and helpful. Phoenicia is a cute town with interesting shops and restaurants.

Cute, cozy and clean house perfect for 2 couples in a very scenic location! Close enough to small towns but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet. Definitely a sanctuary! Beautiful Fall Foliage all around!! The host provided excellent instructions and recommendations to make our visit a wonderful one!! Can't wait to go back!

Amazing space. So clean, comfortable & well equipped. We were here for a wedding for 2 nights & loved it so much we stayed an extra night. Beautiful gardens & right on a pristine stream. Super quiet & private. Very friendly & accommodating host. Highly recommend. We spent the day in the yard & just relaxed & recharged. Really good restaurants & ice cream in town minutes from the house. So much to do & see in this area. My favorite was to just sit by the stream & watch all the beautiful nature around. We saw a bear which was so fun.

What a wonderful stay we had at Sanctuary by the Stream! The home is beautiful - updated, immaculately clean, and well-stocked. It had everything we needed for our stay, including some toiletry essentials we forgot. There are so many fun, outdoor things to do in the area, and Veronica provided lots of great suggestions in a binder in the home. My favorite parts of the home were 1) enjoying a morning coffee and book in the garden by the stream, 2) playing in the backyard stream with our sons, and 3) enjoying the nearby swimming hole. We also appreciated the personal touches like getting to know Veronica and her daughter and enjoying the garden they've put so much love into. The home is kid-friendly; we weren't worried about our young boys (4 & 6) breaking or getting into things. Overall, Sanctuary is very special place and we had a wonderful, memorable visit!

This place is right on a stream with woods and mountains on both sides. Really just a beautiful place to relax and recharge.
Also, the hosts have almost everything needed already there, spices, oil, pots, pans, and utensils.

Veronica went above and beyond to make our quick vaca from the city a dream, the house is perfect for a fall weekend upstate, and with water from the nearby creek always flowing so close by, it truly was a paradise in the Catskills!

Look no further than this little house on the river near Woodstock NY. The little town of Phonecia will make you feel that you have stepped back in time. Our host Veronica greeted us upon our arrival and even included a impromptu visit of a Bald Eagle in flight. A very special place to view the Fall colors.

We were truly in need of a relaxing, peaceful and scenic rest by the stream and did this fit the bill. Meeting Veronica was like reconnecting with an old friend, very accommodating and easy going. The house was very clean, cozy and comfortable. Loved the scenery (trees were just beginning to change color) and quaintness of the area and will definitely be back. Cannot say enough about the serenity of the stream.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely property. We spent a lot of time sitting on the terraces by the creek relaxing, watching the birds, and using the fire pit. I loved wandering through the beautiful flower garden with its variety of plantings and flowers on the way out to the terrace by the water! Great location, feels far from everything yet close to town. Veronica is a most hospitable owner and I would highly recommend it! Thanks so much for a great visit!

Great spot and home base for skiing and Woodstock
My 3 friends and I stayed here for a weekend of day skiing at Bellayre and evenings in Woodstock. It’s a lovely, clean, and comfortable home. The owner is super helpful and communicative.

Magical
The house is appropriately named as the stream is so lovely that I wonder if it has healing powers. Certainly helped us sleep great. House was just right with everything one could need and the host is a doll and a half! Hope to be back soon.

Great getaway in the Catskills and fantastic host!
Sanctuary by the Stream was perfect and exactly as described!! The host is so personable and sweet. Guests have a garden/patio area on the stream that feels very private and a large backyard with a fire pit. Carefully tended gardens and interesting sculptures add to the amazing views of the stream and mountains (front and back). Home is so cozy and clean and well stocked. Phonecia is an adorable town and a perfect base for a Catskills visit. We traveled back and forth to Woodstock - a quick and easy trip day or night. Rail Explorers and Woodstock Brewery in Phonecia are both fantastic. Veronica makes it so special and truly loves what she does. We can't wait to return!
