About this house rental
Welcome to the Carriage House on Caroline street in Burlington's charming and historic South End Lower Hill Section. We are ideally located on a quiet residential street, walking distance to Church Street Marketplace, Burlington Waterfront, local beaches, bike path, and so much more. Park at the end of our street with tennis, two playgrounds, soccer, and baseball fields. Excellent for dog walking and frisbee.

Apartment has nice layout and close to Burlington by car, 10 minutes. The unit is pet friendly and it does show. Really our fault for not checking on the listing.

I came here to spend Christmas with my daughter and we had a wonderful. The space is beautifully renovated with plenty of room and a nice kitchen to make Christmas dinner. The location is great - close to downtown and right near some athletic parks where the dogs enjoyed playing. We hope to come back.

It went well until the end. The owner was very aggressive with me after I checked out. Had not conversed with them prior. She accused me of having more guests than allowed. Able to sleep 3. Not true. My son and I stayed. My daughter lives around the corner and she came by to see the space. She was angry about my dogs despite listing saying the place was dog friendly. I apologized for my oversight not checking the boxes upon rental to say how many people and presence of dogs. Told her if she needed to charge me for extra person and dogs to do so. Complained about use of 3 sets is sheets. Explained I took off sheets on pull out and used another set bc the original set did not look fresh. Anyway she txtd me and told me she never wanted to have me rent again. Quote “ don’t come back”. Unfortunate - I have never had any interaction like this prior and hope I never do again. I’m 58 and just wanted to visit my daughter for her bday. Woman said she just started renting I think she doesn’t have the temperament for this. No hard feelings just bummed bc it was reasonable and close to my daughter. I think these rental places should not be allowed to charge for extra person if the amount of people do not exceed number place can sleep. But that is just my opinion. Feel bad how it went.

Carriage House was the best location! The neighborhood was so beautiful. We easily and safely walked to the Marketplace and Island Line Trail.
The house itself had every amenity you could possibly need. The property manager made our stay very comfortable.
Once again we leave Burlington loving the people and the city more than before! Can't wait to come back!

The owner thought we were coming the next when we showed up, the outside of the apartment needed some up keep there was a window air conditioner for the apartment

There was a mix up during check in. We understood that it was resoved with the landlord (we actually got an email stating that). The following evening we returned after dinner and realized that all our private things had been moved from our appartment to another one without our consent. We left immediately and went into a hotel. Draw your own conclusions.

The carriage house was perfect for me. I had everything I needed and it is very charming. Location is on a nice quiet street with a park at the end, in very easy walking distance. My dog loved it! The whole South End area is very walkable and has lots to offer - lakefront, lots of good food, coffee shops, etc. Dori was a great hostess - gave me my privacy but was always responsive if something came up. Highly recommend!

I could not have had a smoother, more pleasant, or stress,-free stay. Dori was a wonderful host who was easy to get a hold of, did everything she could to make my stay perfect, and continuously went above and beyond what I would expect from a host. The unit I stayed in was clean, comfy, and had everything I needed for a month-long trip. The location was also fantastic and even in the cold of February, I enjoyed walking around the neighborhood to all of the nearby places I could explore. I look forward to coming back and staying here again.

Great little coach house and GREAT host
We stayed for 12 nights in early August 2019. The house was exactly as described and was clean and had everything we could have needed or wanted. The location is fantastic in a nice neighborhood of quiet homes, right down the block from a huge park, but on a street that dead ends on both ends, so virtually no through traffic. Everything was clean, neat, and homey. We were really comfortable and have nothing but good things to say.
And Dori is fantastic!! I was really amazed at her responsiveness while making the reservation and with a few questions we had between the time we reserved and our trip. I don't think it ever took more than an hour to hear back from her. And during our stay, she was helpful and attentive, but it never felt like she was intruding. Really, the perfect balance!!
I guess the best measure of any place is "would you go there again?" and the answer to that is a definite YES!
I hope this review doesn't make the price go up or make the place so popular that we can't get it the next time we want to go back to Vermont!! LOL

Awesome place to stay for the Vermont City Marathon!
This place was beautiful! Quiet, clean, and supplied with food for breakfasts! Well surpassed our expectations. Perfect size for a couple. Our host was so gracious, and happy!

Great location close to everything Burlington has to offer
This cozy carriage house is conveniently located near the bike path, the great Pine Street restaurants, breweries and shops, Church Street and the downtown lakefront. Great outdoor activities in Shelburne and the Champlain islands aren’t far either. Dori is a welcoming host with great ideas about how to spend your time in the local area. Our pup was welcomed at the property and many places in the city.

Lovely property with attentive caring owner. Truly dog friendly with a park down the street and a dog friendly neighborhood vibe. Located in a quiet upscale neighborhood. Walking access to the lake and downtown Burlington. Easy access to grocery stores, fab restaurants and cultural jewels. Be prepared for tiny space making it very cozy for four people.

Great location and everything you need.
This was an excellent property. It was clean and everything we needed for our 3 night stay was available and more, if we needed it. Dori is a wonderful host. It was a pleasant setting and fairly quiet. It is within walking distance of parks and lake. I highly recommend!

Weekend Away
We went to Burlington for a long weekend and the Luxury Carriage House Apt. was a wonderful choice for us to stay at. The price was very reasonable in comparison to other places that would allow dogs and it is close to many of Burlington's main attractions. We felt that the space was very comfortable and up-to-date and for me, my husband, and our mutt it was perfect. I would definitely recommend this place.

Well appointed carriage house in BTV
The carriage house is well located within walking distance of Church Str and UVM, although the walk to UVM is uphill! The space is comfortable and nicely furnished. Nice linens and towels and some welcome provisions in the refrigerator! Dori is very helpful, communicative and easy to work with. Would stay here again!

Cute and Comfortable Apartment in an Unbeatable location!
We absolutely loved our stay in the carriage house this August. The apartment was the perfect size for a couple and we felt very relaxed and comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom are both updated, well stocked and very clean. Everything was clean and ready for us on arrival and the owner made it very easy to access the property so we could arrive at our own convenience. She sent a detailed message ahead of time with all the information plus some great information about the neighborhood and sites/beaches that are walking distance. My husband and I went to UVM and feel we know Burlington pretty well but thanks to her information we were able to discover a new beach by the St Johns Club and see one of the best sunsets from there. The neighborhood is far enough from Church St. that it is very quiet but still close enough to walk if you like to walk. It was also really convenient to have a parking spot in the driveway we were able to use. The only thing we regretted is not bringing our bikes with us since we were so close to the bike path. We really had the best time and the property was convenient, easy and comfortable. We will definitely be back! Thank you again!

Excellent stay in quiet South End neighborhood
My wife and I stayed here for a couple nights in August with our dog and had an enjoyable stay. The property is located in a very quiet neighborhood that is walkable and very close to downtown. The apartment provided enough space for the three of us (including our dog's crate). There was an issue at the beginning of our stay with checking in and the apartment being ready, but Dori was quick to fix it and make sure we were not burdened. Overall, we had an excellent stay.

Location, location, location
This is a carriage house behind the main house, on a charming and quaint residential area. The quarters themselves excelled in being updated, with a roomy bathroom and modern kitchen. We had use of a picturesque common outdoor garden with comfy chairs; and a private picnic table off our kitchen door. The unit was quite small for two people and dark. I would have liked a little more storage space for clothes, etc. and a little more development of the picnic table area outside the kitchen door as a place for eating and reading outside. We were blessed with good weather, so we could get out everyday. My favorite feature was that the house was 1 mile from the gorgeous bike path along the Lake, and also from two beautiful, shallow beaches (water not too cold) for swimming; and a little over a mile from downtown. We spent at least 3 days exploring Burlington's incredibly scenic bike path. And one tiring day at the Shelbourne Museum, whicih is a must-see. And incredible restaurant is right around the corner from this location - ArtsRiot.

Burlington is awesome it was our first time in the city. The carriage house on Caroline was a perfect fit. Small but cozy and charming. Our family had a wonderful time!

We had a great time staying in the carriage house for a long weekend getaway. We made it a ski trip and a chance to explore Burlington. The rental is close to some great breweries and a short Uber to downtown Burlington to try some of the great restaurants and hangouts. The apartment itself is great. Plenty of room for a couple with a full kitchen. Everything was super clean and the check in was simple. Will definitely consider another stay here for a future trip and recommend it to couples looking for a nice trip to Burlington.

This carriage house is a testament that wonderful things come in small packages. The space is beautifully appointed and filled with all the things you'll need for a stay in Burlington (even granola, when I was there). It's a wonderful place to come back to after a day of exploring. The owner was exceptionally responsive and my stay went without any hitch.

My Husband & I stayed for 2 nights. It was a perfect location for walking or biking to downtown Burlington and short drive to get to Shelburne Museum and Farm. It was close to the bike path and had a park nearby. It was a bonus that we had a designated parking place in front of Carriage House for unloading luggage & groceries.
The Carriage house was sunny and bright when we arrived and the place was nicely decorated. Linens, towels and inside were very clean and it looked recently renovated. There is a picnic table in the back which is a good spot for a bit of outdoor privacy.
Kitchen was nicely stocked with dishes, appliances, etc. and Dori even had breakfast items available in refrigerator and on pantry shelves.
She was very accommodating and responded to our questions promptly. I would stay there again and would recommend as well.
