This property has beautiful views of the Annisquam River and a lovely, large porch from which to view them from. Our granddaughter enjoyed very much going down to the docks and walking on the sandbars at low tide. Maureen responded promptly to our questions and was accommodating.

A group of female family members were there for a get together. Loved the view from the back deck. The house had everything we could possibly need!

My husband and I, our daughter, and two grandchildren had a wonderful time. The home is warm and inviting with lots of charm and spectacular views. The host has thought of everything- there was nothing we could not find that we needed. The home was very clean. Ours was a rather short visit but we packed a lot in. We spent time in Gloucester, Salem, Rockport, and Boston. After a full day enjoyed coming back to the welcoming home. We all slept soundly- the beds are very comfortable. We would love to come back again maybe in summer when we’d focus on water activities and spending more time on the expansive deck.

The house is over 100 years old, but, very comfortable and cozy. Natural wood work. Gorgeous views. Very relaxing. Our group is already looking forward to staying here again.

Our family gathered for a celebration of life for a woman who spent many years on the Annisquam River. Because we were all from out of state we needed a large place to accommodate 10 adults and 2 children. This house worked for us because it had enough sleeping space for all and had a dock on the river. The biggest drawback was that it only had a single shower. All the bedrooms were on the second floor and might be problematic for folks with mobility issues. Likewise the stairs to the dock were uneven but the view was well worth traversing the terrain. The house was dated but that was part of the charm.

Amazing location with the best view! Kids and adults both enjoyed the house! Swimming, fishing and searching for critters at low tide made for the best week!!

Plenty of space for 8 adults and one toddler. The deck was a perfect place to relax and an excellent play space for our little one. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. We also enjoyed swimming in the river.

Great location, very clean and well stocked. Comfortable beds, lots of room. Rented kayaks that were delivered to the house. Great week, highly recommend.

No need to hit the beaches, everything is in your backyard. We brought inflatable kayaks which enhanced our time in and on the water. Watching the daily parade of pleasure and commercial boats was fun. A great location which is minutes from the center of Glocester and a short drive to Rockport. Can not wait to go back next year, There is no A/C, but there are plenty of fans.

It is a perfect place for my family and I to return to our roots. The location and view are spectacular. We enjoyed ourselves and hope to return!

We had a fantastic time here in what reminds me of an old school beach house, which is the best. Plenty of beds, lots of seats for meals, and a great location. Loved it!

We loved our time here. The view from the deck can’t be beat. We walked out to the sandbars during low tide and rented paddle boards to use everyday right from the dock. It’s an older home and definitely feels like it, yet all important amenities are provided and work well. Host was very quick to respond to communications. We hope to stay again sometime!

Notwithstanding the 72 hours of rain and wind averaging 20 mph with gusts to 35, we enjoyed our visit. We spent more time at the house this year vs going out and about, appreciating the well appointed kitchen, the large tables we gathered around playing games . WIFI and cable was dependable. We remained warm and dry. We did miss sitting out on the decks in the sunshine, watching the boat traffic and the changing landscape (due to tides) but maybe next year!

Charming river front home with all the amenities. The view off the balconies was beautiful. We enjoyed our morning coffee sitting outside and watching the boats. The street was quiet. Highly recommend staying here when visiting this area. It was close to everything we wanted to see.

Like last year this large, vintage property was spotless, kitchen could not be better appointed in terms of dishes, silverware, cooking appliances, cleaning supplies, small appliances (toaster, k cup coffee maker, traditional coffee maker, and large modern appliances. Abundant towels, linens, pillows. And, of course, the fabulous river view and sunsets.

We spent a week at this beautiful place for a small family reunion. There is a feeling of "generosity- " accommodated a larger group comfortably, and stocked with everything one may need. The deck overlooking the river is a highlight of this property. The view and feel is so very beautiful and we spent hours there, observing the fishing herons in the mornings. We swam right from the dock and the water was crystal clear and refreshing. What a wonderful home!

Fantastic Experience
We were at the house during a heat wave. It did not matter to any one of us.. the cool breeze off the water was always present. The decks (yes multiple decks), were amazing.. we could have lived out on the decks and gone no where and been perfectly happy. The views were outstanding, the dock was wonderful. Our stay for the week allowed us to day tripped around both the north shore as well as Boston and the house was the perfectly situated for that as well. But coming back everyday to that view, the water access, allowed each of us to have our individual time at the house at the end of each day and made the entire week perfect for all--

Better than I expected
My family of 10 (seven adults and three children) stayed here. We came from across the country to meet and enjoy Cape Ann. The first time in years we have all been together. What an excellent home to stay in. We have been coming to Cape Ann since 1974 and have stayed in many different places. This home, for our large family, was the best. With 6 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, everyone was happy with their room and there was never any conflict waiting for a bathroom. The house was spotless, the neighbors friendly, the views and sun sets outstanding and the easy access to the water for our grandchildren a real plus. There was no need to experience the Cape Ann amenities; it could all be done on the back porch. Hopefully we can reserve this for next year’s trip. Thank you for allowing us to share this great home

Amazing Experience
This home welcomed us like we were home. Gloucester has always been my sister and my go to to visit our aging parents. We were able to bring our elderly father to the gorgeous deck overlooking the river. He was able to watch his grandchildren fish and have fun. Maureen is a lovely host, all the neighbors in the area are wonderful and welcoming, the house comfortable and extremely clean. We loved every single moment we spent at this property and hope to return.

Quaint, Clean and Accommodating Home with Amazing View
Decades ago as a child, I vacationed in this very home so every quaint, recognizable, vintage detail of the house and property warmed my heart. My younger adult cousin described the location as magical and the visit lovely. The house was so well stocked with appliances, dishes, flatware, towels, beach towels and everything was where you would expect it to be. Double oven, double door refrigerator, single serve type coffee maker and more traditional one, bagel toaster, large outdoor grill. Simple things that make settling in and relaxing so easy. I would say not only the sunsets, but sunrises are spectacular. Expansive decks, both open and covered, provided ample space for a summer vacation. My only wish item would be railing for steps descending to the dock and float. This property is perfect for those of us who appreciate the quieter, slower vibe of Cape Ann.

Really lovely stay
This was such a great home to have a family get away in. It's quaint and loved and feels like going to grandmother's on the sea. It's not fancy or updated but the appliances are top notch and the hot water is abundant for all showers after a beach day. It's spacious and homey at the same time and the location is perfect. We loved the deck views and swims from the dock.

Perfect location
The house was exactly what we wanted, a beach cottage feel with lots of room to spread out. We spent so much time on the porch, it was our favorite spot. Being right on the water was so fun for everyone, we kayaked and paddle boarded right from the dock. The house had everything we needed. Everyone wants to come back for another vacation.

We loved the house it is perfect for a large group with lots of space to sit at tables couches porch
Maureen was fantastic with communication and after we left we forgot a charger and she even drove it to where we were staying next so that we could have it. As much as we liked it we would not rent it again in the summer because we would be fearful of the extreme heat . Window air conditioners seem like they could remedy that and if it had some window air conditioners in the bedrooms we would give it five stars everything else was perfect and we loved ,loved, loved it but I would be afraid of risking the hot sleepless nights in the summer for a future visit.

A Slice of Heaven
This property has everything you need to have an amazing vacation with a larger or small group of people. The house is cozy and rustic with views from sunrise to sunset that are worth the price alone. Great swimming right at the dock and an easy walk to explore tidal beaches when it's low. We spent a lot off time on the back deck and while there is a TV with a wide list of cable channels, we barely turned it on. The bedrooms are all upstairs and close to each other, but we felt privacy and not on top of each other. The shower being in the lower floor was no problem and the kitchen was literally fully stocked with anything you would ever need. If you are looking for a beautiful place to unwind and enjoy some peace and a bit of heaven then stop looking and book!

Beautiful Riverside Views
We absolutely loved our stay at Maureen's place. The porch has an amazing view and plenty of space for family and friends. The kitchen has so many appliances and gadgets including big pots for lobster and corn, lobster crackers and even wet wipes! Lots of charm in this old New England home. Maureen was quick to respond with any questions or concerns. We would love to visit again sometime.

Descent house in great location
Overall descent house that can fit a large group. Location great, expect house was mostly in the shade all day, and for late September this meant missing the warm sun! Kitchen has newer, well functioning appliances. Upstairs bedroom walls paper thin. Not fully clean on arrival (waste bin full of used diapers found upstairs, floors rather dirty, kitchen garbage can had strong seafood smell). Still recommended...

Just OK—owner a bit difficult.
I have only ever given fully positive reviews on VRBO. This is my first time in 10 years of renting I’ve ever had any issues...
First the good: The location is beautiful—the back deck is awesome for morning coffee and watching the sunset. We were also able to paddle board right from the back dock.
The less-than-good: The living room was not ideal for my family to hang out in. All of the furniture is wicker, so it just wasn’t a comfortable place to settle into. The bedrooms are VERY SMALL and VERY HOT (lack of AC was mentioned in the listing, it was just more uncomfortable than I imagined it would be). We also found a used diaper under one of the beds.
Even with the above, I could give a positive review—it’s vacation and we can adapt to accommodations for one week. The biggest issue was with the owner. Her responses to the few questions I had before the trip were a bit abrupt—but I thought it was just me reading tone into texts. When I parked in the lot that she assured us we could use on the first day for beach access, she yelled at me (from the window of her permanent residence) for being there (admittedly before knowing who I was). I had to repeatedly explain that I was her tenant from across town—she was still quite rude. We had 3 families staying at the house—plus a teen driver—so we did have 4 cars using the parking she promised. We parked at the back as instructed (there were still LOTS of empty spaces). When my husband arrived last (he worked that morning and joined us later at the beach), she was rude/yelled at him too—and sent me a fairly nasty message. The house sleeps 11—we need more than 1 car to get to the beach. Still, my issue was with her tone. There’s enough ugliness in the world—I feel like this could have been handled better.
My elderly father did knock over a table lamp while we were there (there are LOTS of knick-knacks in the house), which I forgot to mention until after we left (I just assume this will show up in my guest review). The tense exchanges did put a minor damper on our visit, and will prevent me from returning to this location.

We had a blast!
The house was great. The location was excellent. The house had everything you could need and more. I will miss chilling on the deck watching the river traffic
